i disabled the dep, and that still didn't work. i had dx 9c installed before i got this game, but for some reason i had to install the version on the disc. after that it runs perfectly

humm how do you turn off DEP? ^^' cuz the game dosnt load up when I stard as well.

Running this on XP, I disabled DEP for all 4 .exe's(online, option, offline, and illuminus) and it still doesn't start up in either story or network mode, latest available DX installed, and I'd also like to know what atlus meant by installing the version on the disc.

Just install Direct X off the disc and it works fine, as XP DEP is automatically off apart from a few windows selected programs.

That was relatively easy.
Running on Vista here.
1. Install the game.
2. Disable DEP
3. Install DirectX from the game's CD (no matter what version you have)
4. Run the game.

a little problem i noticed.
i use vuze(formerly azureus), and i was away for some days not downloading.
today i tried to resume and the tracker was changed to ******.info, one that requires registration.
if you get an error that you're leeching, change the tracker back to the piratebay tracker.

Quick question... Do I unpack them all, or just the one at the bottom? I tried the very bottom one, and when I mounted it and got it playing... It seems like characters are missing body parts... Some have legs not attached , my character runs/attacks funny, and everything is completely out of whack. Any tips?

You're better off buying it by default. Though on a side note, the RARs shouldn't take that long to extract, if you have a half decent computer that is...

Ok...I'm so damn fed up with these RAR Files. *** DO I DO!?! HOW DO I "UNPACK" THEM!?!? I'm so fed up with WinRAR someone please tell me because all the other downloads are mainly RAR and NOT Iso anymore...

Try this if you can't PLAY OFFline,
Go to "http://m0001.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_phantasy_star_universe.shtml#Phantasy%20Star%20Universe%20v1.0%20SP%20[ENGLISH]%20No-DVD/Fixed%20EXE" and download the 1,9 MB crack.
Follow this Steps:
* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Extract the File Archive to the game directory.
* Execute _SUILLUMINUS.EXE to play the Game! (OFFline Only)

I'm having issues on the iso. 7zip says it's fine, but when installing it, "could not extract: \Data\'whatever': the source file is corrupted." It's irritating me so much. I get to the 3rd chapter in Story Mode and 'illuminus.exe has experienced a error" box appears, means that one of the 5 files(I counted) that are broken is(or are) a story file.

Soooo . . . I had quite the adventure, but all's good to report and I am delighted! And I am seeding as fast as my little heart can seed. Promise.
I have Windows 7 - 7100 build
First, I unpacked the file from inside WinRAR (as in I found a version of WR on mininova, trial works for this) I opened WinRAR and looked for the folder I'd downloaded this game to, WinRAR only gives you one option to click, not as confusing as trying to unpack multiple files from the original folder
I found a virtual drive program compatible with Win7 (Virtual CloneDrive) and mounted the unpacked .iso, then in My Computer - I have an extra drive! hit autoplay
I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE - it will NOT work if you don't install the DirectX that's on the "disc" there won't be any conflicts with yr existing stuf, but the game won't play without that particular set of drivers

then . . . wait for it - i still couldn't get it to work, kept getting a GameGuard error, and all the fixes I could find wanted me to install a patch, as it turns out, a checky in a boxy was needed, no patch (this fix is ONLY for Win 7 build 7000/7100 as far as I know) browse for a file in the SEGA folder that says "GameGear.des", right click, select properties and make sure the attributes has a ticky next to the read only box
last piece of advice, for everyone, make sure you set up the appropriate video options in the options menu BEFORE going into story mode, screen size especially - i was playing on a 6 inch wide window before i figured it out and got it full screen

oh, and one more thing, I have a USB controller that's set up like the ps2 controller, and once i selected the controller option in-game, I was able to completely interact with only the controller, just like the original PSU did on my ps2

oh and the damaged files issue? just use WinRAR to unpack it - it will repair the damaged files for you - I had absolutely no luck unpacking it with anything other than WinRAR

i downloaded this, and it installed correctly, but when i try to run the game it doesn't load up, it closes and does nothing. i have vista btw, but that shouldn't be a problem with this game
