nchant... try downloading a program called `allok avi to dvd`. i use it all the time and dvds work on any dvd player

I have the phillips divx player and i've never had problems playing any file type. The only thing about phillips is (and im not sure if other divx players do it too) that sometimes different files will be all distorted and blocky. but it's fixable through the menu which can get annoying. but no other problems with it.

I find your better off buying cheap stand alone div-x players. last one I bought was only £30.00 and it plays basically everything I've tried in it.
