I upgraded to this version from the TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress + DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring combo (English Retail).torrent. Much easier to install (on XP, don't know about Vista) with the patch and keygen, you don't have to copy over any files, just install, run the exe. once, get out of it completely (rebooting at this point can't hurt just to make sure), click the keygen, patch, change the version number (DO NOT change the name or e-mail) and run the keygen. Worked like a charm and it is totally free of any trogen or virus. Great program, excellent upload.

Couldn't get it to work. Installed Xpress with similar keygen no problems. This keeps saying the file is running. Double checked if it was 'read only' and if it was running under my processes but it isn't. Anyone have any other Ideas?

I had trouble getting this registered at first. The problem was failing to change the version number before generating the license. This new version fixes a few things and is an excellent program. Here's more detailed information than what was provided in the readme.txt:
- Install the Application, reboot when prompted
- Run the program and exit (this creates the user folders)
- Run "keygen.exe"
In the lower part of the window:
- Click the PATCH button
In the upper part of the window:
- Enter in Name (whatever you want)
- Enter in Email (whatever you want)
- Enter in Version. This MUST be 3.1.1.174
- Click the GENERATE button
*** The program is ready to use!

you dont need a serial. in the folder theres goin to be a textpad document thats says "README" open it up and it shows u how to apply the patch. in the textpad it says
"Install
Run program at least once and Exit
Run Patch and change version to 3.1.1.174
Apply patch
Generate keyfile (don't change default path)
Enjoy!"

Hi there,
The same thing has happened to me as poster 11...
I have followed all the instructions to the letter, but it still says that the file is running and so wont let me add the patch etc.
Any ideas anyone.

bendeneo, I had the exact same problem so this is how I fixed it:
Firstly, I'm running off Vista but it shouldn't make a difference.
You need to change the TMPGEncDVDAuthor3.exe from Read-only. Now, like mine it may already say it's not Read-only but only for Admin. For some reason you have to allow all users on your PC to be able to write to the file.
After that, the patch should work and you can change the file back to the way it was.

nice download but the crack doesn't work for me, have tried all of the posted solutions but none worked. won't repatch says it's already patched and everytime i open it requests license validation and serial key input........any suggestions?

I'm running vista and this is exactly what i did to make it work....
1. install TMPGEnc
2. reboot
3. run once to set up folders and exit immediatley
4. run crack which comes in 2 parts.....
click on keygen icon which opens...
part 1....in the bottom half "patcher" click the patch button (without
altering anything).
part 2....in the top half "keyfile maker" change version to 3.1.1.174
and click the generate button.
5.open program and use a great program.

Just uploaded it a second time on a PC running Vista and it worked perfectly. Didn't even have to reboot. Installed application and ran program (got window asking for serial #). Closed program and ran keygen.exe Clicked the Patch button. Next, change version to 3.1.1.174 (this step is crucial) and click Generate button. Program is now ready to use.

I'm having a problem. I've followed exactly what you guys have said so far!
I've patched and generated license successfully but when the program starts "initializing" I get the following error:
At address 696D636F, Read error occurred against address 696D636F.
Anyone know what's wrong?

Finally got it to work. Follow comment #20 and then #17. I have vista, and changing the permissions is an important step. In #17 use the keygen in THAT order. Press 'patch' BEFORE you change the version and press 'generate'.

Ihad the same problem as alot of you guys. I'm running Vista and tried running program as Admin and changing permissions without any luck, then i realise that although it looked like i had changed permissions, it hadnt really changed.
I have found that you need to go to Crogram Files/PEGASYS INC folder and right click on it and first click on Properties then SECURITY and click on EDIT(to change permissions). You show then tick FULL CONTROL (UNDER THE HEADING ALLOW)for ADMINISTRATOR and USERS. If you do this then run the Key Gen (patch first then generate licence remembering to change Version to 3.1.1.174, it will work perfectly.

Everything works perfect thanks I had to goto the file were the patch was created and copy to the c:programs/pegasys Inc etc.... and then it worked perfect. So try that for the ones it's not working for.Thanks again.

When I'm clicking on 'obtain a license' i've got this: an error occured while retrieving the license. please refer to the details below. system error (120). Then I saw that keygen shows version 3.0.9.166, not 3.1.1.174 so i changed it on 3.1.1.174. Then I patched and generated it and then I have the same problems as #39, I just have other numbes/letter than him. What am I doing wrong?

FOR XP:
1. Install "TMPGEnc 3.1 setup"
2. Reboot.
3. Run "TMPGEnc DVD" and Exit.
4. Run "keygen"
5. Hit "Patch"
6. In "Output" don't change the default path.
7. In "Name" and "Email" enter whatever you want.
8. In "Version" enter -> 3.1.1.174
9. Hit "Generate".
FOR VISTA (follow these steps first, then install like XP):
1. Go to program Files/PEGASYS INC folder and right click on it.

Extra mega simple easy peasy way of doing it is to RIGHT CLICK the keygen/patch program BEFORE you run it and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. This works for vista so should also work for xp. Note no copying anything no editing anything.

Just use the exact steps in comment 17 by lmaoXitsXqtard. I'll even make it clearer:
1. Install normally
2. Run program at least once and Exit
3. Run keygen (found in the setup file) and change version to 3.1.1.174
4. Click on 'Patch' button (don't change default path)
5. Click on 'Generate' button (don't change default path)
6. Exit the keygen and run program. It will be ready to use.

I have vista, and although I've run many a patch before on my previous xp machine, I was having problems that the other suggestions here weren't fixing and this is what I did:
I followed the instructions up to creating the patch. On the first try it said the file did not exist. I had to change the path (even though it says not to) because my program files are in the folder Program Files(x86). after that it kept telling me that the program was running and would not work. The file was already un-checked for read only but when I closed the keygen, a Windows prompt informed me that the program may not have worked properly and to see if I wanted to run it as the administrator. I said yes and Voila! Hope this helps anyone else stuck with the vista nightmare!
