Many thanks for this great program! I hate to sound dim, but I don't have the option of choosing internal GPS. It keeps trying to find a remote GPS and, of course fails. What part of the install have I messed up?

I erased the garmindevice.xml file off the phone in the 'garmin' directory, then ran the program again and I believe I went to settings, system and there was a way to select the internal gps. Erasing that file was key however.

Read all the comments within the other Garmin torrents, especially http://www.mininova.org/com/1043383, as it does work once you're there

Okay. Call me dumb but can't get this to work. Downloaded all files and transferred them on to my SD card in my N95. I then ran "garminxt.sis on my phone to install program. The next step says to delete "garmindevice.xml" There is my first problem. I don't have that file anywhere on my N95. Looked in every folder and even did a phone file search. No such file. Not finding it I continued on anyway. I open the application folder and start "garminxt". Other then the phone just blinking once nothing happens. So can't really get into the application settings to follow rest of steps as the program will not even open.......HELP!!!!!!!!!1

hi, i got the my phone to work and detect internal gps, i also managed to install the europe nt program and maps, but i can't extract the map from the north america 2008 as there is not setup file. HOw do i extract those maps? Thanks a lot!

Once you mount/burn the iso, there are multiple directories that correspond to different languages. Go to the dir that contains "EN" in its name (for english) and run the setup in there.

how much space do you need on your phone/memcard to load this program

Hey Andruzzo,
I'm having the same problem as Rukawa1980. For one you say burn the iso or mount it.....problem is I don't see it.
1) I go to the Garmin MapSource City Navigator North America NT 2008 directory.
2)Go to the install directory, only to find updates in various languages and a 1+ gig file disk1.cab
3) I used rar on the disk1.cab and it opened a folder with a ton of files which isnt rar related.
I'm pretty much stuck, I have nero 7.5, winrar, not sure if I need another other software but can you please provide a set of instructions for dummies on how to install the north america maps.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Giving up I think....lol.
Have tried everything. Downloaded the bittorrent to my pc (five times). Transfered program folder to my formatted disk by PC directly to phone and also by PC directly to card using a USB card reader. Did both of these transfers five times each. NEVER have found the garmindevice.xml file. Not by using the nokia search or PC search or even manually searching all my files myself. Not there before or after I run GarminMobileXT.sis to install.
I then click on GMobileXT icon and nothing happens. Sometimes the program screen appears for a few second but then back to icons. Thought of using the phone for a pinata then but decided that would be a little much....

Thanks for uploading this software the N95
I have succesfully installed Garmin on my N95 and installed the MapInstaller successfully.
I'm trying to load North America NT 2008 Maps
Well in the Garmin XT folder i downloaded from Mininova. A zip file (disk1.zip) was included in there. My question is do i need to unzip somewhere on my pc for the program load the maps to my N95 phone or will the MapInstaller program find that Zip file and unzip all the maps automatically on the phone for me?
can someone please help and explain what i need to do to load the North America NT 2008 maps to the N95?
Thank you so much,

I have another question to ask...
With this Garmin GPS for the N95...
Do i need to pay for any service fee or data fee to my phone service provider
when i use this Garmin GPS software on my phone?
Before this came out, in order to have turn-by-turn update, i would have to pay monthly fees to the phone service provider....
Can someone please tell me if i need to pay anything when i use this?
Thank you so much...

No, you won't need any data service plan to use Garmin Mobile XT.

For some reason i cant get the garmin folder to transfer onto the memory card. It says that the parameter is incorrect for gmapsupp.img. Any ideas?
19.Posted by steveinator on Feb 04 2008 at 19:05
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it got this thing to finally work. Had to stand on my head with one finger in my ear while clicking my ruby tennis shoes together but that did the trick. Now loaded onto my 6gig card and working fine. Question though. When I want to upgrade to the larger cards that are coming out can I just transfer everything to the larger card or have I now locked the program to my 6gig card and need to do a complete reinstall procedure for the larger card?

ANYONNE know why it says parameter is incorrect for gmapsupp.img when trying to send the "garmin" folder onto the phone through data transfer.

First of all THANKS for this upload and all the comments posted. It helped me a lot to get the garmin application installed and working.
I also got the Internal GPS to work. However the signal strength is very weak! So weak that it keeps mentioning - SEARCHING FOR SATELLITES.
When I connected an external bluetooth GPS that I have and used it, the signal strength automatically jumped and started detecting satellites and calculated the appropriate route immidiately!
I wanted to know...is the Nokia internal GPS really weak? Does anyone else have a problem with their signal strength?
Let me know. Thanks!

You have to use the kgen.... for unlocking the map.
the second bottom part of the kgen. choose the map and generate the key that shows, Enter it in the map "GMAPSUPP.UNL" rename to *.txt add the key and rename it back *.UNI
place it back where it came from /garmin
that all.

Does anyone have an up to date step by step i cannot find the xml file to delete and when i install it i just get the Garmin logo for a few seconds and the it goes back to the application menu, i've uninstalled and re-installed it several times with no luck.
Please someone who has done this recently write a tutorial for us who are not so technically minded.

I got this to work eventually on my N95 8GB...
Here's how:
1) Connect the phone/memory card and copy just the Garmin folder to the root of the memory card
2) Disconnect and load 'garminxt.sis' to load the program
3) RUN garminxt in the applications folder
4) Go to the settings page, then 'about' and make a note of the card ID
5) Exit garminxt and go to the garmin directory
37.Posted by scratchy2603 on Jul 21 2008 at 12:13
6) DELETE 'garmindevice.xml', it only shows up once you run the program
7) Use the keygen and enter the card ID in the top box, then click the top 'generate' button. Copy the number to the clipboard
8) Go into wordpad and paste the new unlock code
9) Save the file as SW.UNL as an all type file
10) Connect the memory card/phone and copy the SW.UNL file back into the garmin directory
11) Run the program again, it will still search for GPS devices
12) To use Nokia internal GPS, go to settings and then remote GPS and change to internal GPS (mine didn't like the internal!). PAir an external device with garmin, and it should work!
Happy days!

thanks man, you are GOD !
39.Posted by chili64 on Aug 14 2008 at 11:38
works great!! I added the City Navigator North America NT 2009 from another torrent
just follow the steps from scratchy... BTW I have 2 changes!
1) The file you open is GarminMobileXT.sis
2) There is no need to erase the xml file which BTW is nowhere
Now, what do I do with my bulky GPS?
