For those wondering, this torrent works 100% PERFECTLY. There are 4 ISO files which you have to either mount using alcohol/Daemon Tools or you can burn the iso to CD's. After installing you have to download a NoCD crack from here: http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/c910760_0.htm and overwrite the old swkotr.exe with the one you downloaded.

This works 100%. I don't know about Online play. ISO files are Image files so you need to download a program which can mount then to a Virtual Cd. I prefer to use Daemon Tools. And all you do is right click the daemon tools in your task bar, mount image, and fine where those 4 iso images are placed. and you just install it like a normal game. CD1, 2, 3, 4. Piece of cake. I've downloaded it and there are no iso files in it. I decompressed it all down to where only .cab files were left and I kept getting a pop-up message saying the file was corrupt whenever I tried to decompress them. So I ran the set-up and installed to 100% then asked if I wanted to make a desktop icon then asked for me to insert disc 4. Since there are no iso files to mount I just closed the installation. But there was a desktop icon for KOTOR and the program folder was still in place so I tried to use the cd crack and it did not work for me. After that I updated it to version 1.03 and used the crack for that version. This time it ran the game bu immediately crashed. Does anyone know what to do to install it and get it working? Because I will have a conniption if i spent 3 days downloading and it tried so much to get it working to just have to delete it all.

I cant find a swkotr.exe or swkotor.exe, only the auto run and setup files. Ive tried replacing the crack exe with different combinations of the auto run exe, but it either still gives the "insert play disc 1" or "Insert proper disc" if i replace any of the core functions of the auto run document... any help would be appreciated.

i got to work on vista following legendsquared(30th comment) instructions,but then i downloaded the patch for version 3 form the link that eksquall(4th comment) gave and i unzipped it and cut the patch out and pasted it on to program files/lucasart/swkotor file, it prompted me if i wanted to cancel to move or move and coexist or replace. i said replace. i exited out and double clicked the launcher and viola! it worked 
the menu didn't have any words except of "quit" i figured out that the first link in new game, second load game ,third is probably options. I hope this helps people that are trying to install the game on Vista!

tried running it in compatability mode in vista? that usually works for me.. just right click the .exe file, click properties, and then the compatability tab and check the box "run this program in compatability mode for" and use windows xp sp2.. it has worked for me 100% of the time when i try to run an older game in vista.

to update trackers you right click on your torrent and click properties
and it should open a window with 2 tabs general and advanced in the general tab there should be a box that has the heading "trackers(separate tiers with and empty line)" in that box paste the trackers UNDERNEATH each other, press OK and your download speed should increase considerably. I hope this helps

I've got the game installed and running but the text is completely garbaled and unreadable (static looking sqaures). Before I installed the crack I was getting a popup box with nonsensical symbols and such. I'm running XP SP3.

please can someone put a fool proof instruction on how to install this game? (including stating what to click on to run the game)
this is what i have done:
extracted the rar files to turn them into 4 ISO files.
mounted the 4 ISO files and installed the game.
followed comment 30's instructions from 4 to 9.
then i was left with no instruction on what to click on to open the game.
i tried the desktop icon it had created. didnt work
tried the .exe file in the location. didnt work
seeing as i have vista, i tried running BOTH of the above in XP compatability mode. didnt work
and why would i need a no cd crack if i have the ISO files of every CD?

One thing. DO NOT and I mean DO NOT go to gamecopy world. Most download will be infected with untraceable viruses, keyloggers, trojan files. So do not download from that website. Download any no cd crack from www.gameburnworld.com. Most trusted and safest for cracks and every crack works 100%

I didn't have to burn the cd's, thats what the no cd crack is for , and if zotec says don't download from gamecopy world I would follow his advice, I didn't get anything from there, but I may have just gotten lucky... as for the squares and stuff I have no clue, you might try a different no cd crack or re-installing it (it's a pain but well worth it to play this game)

I'm having problems. I downloaded and installed and updated fine. And it runs for a bit, but whenever i hit new game, it crashes. I've tried dozens of different exe fixes and different combonations of it being patched and not patched. It always crashes. The farthest i can get is selecting a character and choosing a portrait it crashes then. I've tried running it in 98 mode and 2000 but still it doesn't work. I'm running Windows xp. Do u think i need to install DX 9b?

i've tried to replace the exe with the no-cd thing but it says that i cannot move the file into the new folder, that i don't have permission to copy to that location... any ideas? (running on 64-bit vista btw...)

well this is my first time ever using a torrent, so complete nub like me can do so can anyone else. the steps i included are some listed above, but having them all in 1 comment is easier than scrolling back and worth between comments, i'm on vista ultimate 32-bit
1: download utorrent, then download this torrent and open with utorrent
2: once everything is downloaded, extract to a location, i personally made an individual folder for each cd on my desktop
3: download daemon tools, http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?catid=5&mode=ViewCategory
4: once u have daemon installed, there should be an icon bottom right of taskbar(daemon tools light), right click on that icon and go to virtual cd-dvd rom, set number of devices to four

5: go back to the virtual cd/dvd rom, click mount and go to the folder that u extracted cd 1 to and mount the ISO file. do this for the rest of the virtual drives, hence reason for 4 virtual drives.
6: once u mount the first ISO file have it start the install, when it asks for cd2 containing data3 go to browse and select the virtual drive that you mounted the cd2 ISO to, and so on with cd 3 and 4 until finished with installation.
7: at end of installation it will ask for you to insert disc 4, pick the virtual drive that u mounted cd 4 to again.
8: next download the official v1.03 patch, http://www.lucasarts.com/support/update/KotOR.html, apply that patch
9: next download the no cd crack v1.03, http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/starwarsknightsoftheoldrepublic.shtml

10: once you've downloaded the no cd crack extract it to your location of installation usually c:\program files\lucasarts\SWKotOR, click yes to overwrite.
11: if you have vista make sure to right click on the shorcut on your desktop, compatibility and make run compatibility for Windows XP SP2.

okay beastking03, did you read and follow the directions on posts69-71 if not then read those and use some common sense, i won't explain literally every single detail i expect people to use their brain a little. but anyways if your have followed those directions then what OS are u using if your using vista remember to run in compatibility for XP, by right clicking the .exe or shortcut and goin to the compatibility tab.

try lowering your resolution and the overall video graphics, make sure your anti-aliasing is off along with AF. next would be to turn down or turn off shadows, soft shadows off first then lowering the quality of shadows themselves if turning off soft shadows doesn't help. after that if nothing then turn everything on lowest you can get it.

ok so i have done everything and need some help i have followed comments 69-71 and have done exactly that. Im running in Vista ultimate 32bit. I downloaded, mounted using daemon tools, installed the game, made it to run in XP service pack 2, updated and put the crack in the SWKOTOR file. as soon as i go to run the game my resolution gets huge and very distort and it says "Star wars knights of the old republic has stoped working and needs to close." if anyone can help that be great. ive worked with daemon tools and gamed downloads alot i just dont know what it is ive done everything i can think of

okay halo, not sure on that one just taking a guess since no one else has responded, but have you tried to change the resolution when the menu pops up after clicking on the shortcut? Configure and that'll show all your graphical options. course there is always this question, does it do this on any other games?

i can't remember how i got it to work on vista but i got it installed but it won't pass the tests. all test run fine except for the video card. i got a different nvidia card on my laptop and the documents that come with the KotoR in the installation show a list of compatible (known) video cards.
and the one i have is not...

Alright, i extracted it to the desttop. I start up DEAMON tools light. I find CD 1 out of 4 and press ok. It start to install. Gets to 4o%(\movies\01a.bik) and ask for disk 2. I mount disk 2 and just click ok.
Then it gets to 50%(
Then i get a weird messge poping up saying...

then i press ok and the install freezes

hey i downloaded the file, extracted it, installed it, got the patch, downloaded the crack but when i tried to replace the original file with the crack it gave me an error message that was just giberish (symbols and whatnot) however, i THINK i successfully replaced it but when i try launching the game the ship comes up and then it says that the program has stopped working. windows then says that Data Execution Prevention has shut down the program to protect my computer. i tried to add it to the list of programs that it wouldnt shut down but it said that kotor couldnt run without it. im running vista. anyone have any ideas???

I did everything right, uploaded, cracked, and its working, but the graphics are all pixeled, with strange paterns... the persons are ok but the maps are getting this sh*%$ ! I dont understand! My pc have all the recommended setup, but my graphic card is a xfx 8500 Geforce and the game test says that its isnt compatible, like its a old card. So I managed to install this successfully (after 3 days of fighting with it) with Daemon Tools, windows compatibility mode, and the NOCD crack from #13. I played through Taris, had fun with that planet, and then I got to Dantooine. The game is now so ****ed up it's not even funny (not that it would have been funny in the first place). It has more lag and bugs than I've seen in the worst MMORPG. It took me 15 minutes to get out of the Enclave courtyard because I would run while lagging, and it would register the command in real-world time, even though I'd move maybe three pixels in the game for the thirty seconds I pressed it. I get maybe one chance to move before my character stops, and then turns around a lot when I try to move again. It's not my computer, because all the menus work perfectly, and there are a few moments before I try to move after switching characters when the game works as well as it should. Have any of you had these problems, and, if so, how to I fix it?

Please someone help.
When I try to install, it gets to 40%, then it asks for data3.cab
At that point I go into G:\data3.cab
and pop up appears saying " specified path not found"
I have tried mounting all four iso's at the same time, then choosing it.
I have tried ejecting the disk then mounting it(Daemon tools)
I have even tried burning to disks (poweriso) but that didn't work either.
Help?

hello guys ,
little problem with the game,
i installed it , no problem , the game
as correctly been instaled , but when i launch the game,
i have the main menu with " game , configure , update etc " and
when i click on "game " the millenium falcon's picture apear
and the game is stuck on this pics for 5secs , and then ... nothing.
The image disapear and its like if i've never clicked on the
shortcut.

It works expect it crashes during gameplay and has some hiccups such as your character freezing in place at times which can be a bit annoying.
1. Extract only the first rar folder.
2. Mount the first iso disc.
3. Autorun should pop up with install.
4. Mount 2nd disc when it calls for it.
4. Mount 3rd disc when it calls for it.
5. Mount 4th disc when it calls for it.
6. Once install is complete, find the 1.03 patch on the net http://www.lucasarts.com/support/update/KotOR.html
7. Once patch is downloaded and installed you must find the 1.03 patch crack! Crack that came with this torrent will not work with 1.03 patch. 1.03 crack can be found here http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/starwarsknightsoftheoldrepublic.shtml
8. Cut the crack from the folder it downloaded to and paste it into your KOTOR folder and select Replace.

It should work now. The problems, like I said before, game seems to crash randomly and character freeze ups. Sometimes selecting between one character and moving a bit with that character unfreezes the other character and you can switch back. These are my experiences, others may differ.

Hey guys, I followed all the steps including getting the v 1.03 patch and the no-cd crack for the 1.03 version. My problem is that nothing in the main menu is appearing. The text just appears to be boxes that are unreadable. Anyone have any solution to this? I know my graphics card is up to this though so It most likely isn't that.

Well, the only graphics options I can access at the moment are the ones in the "configuration" option in the starting menu. I cannot access the in-game graphics options because I cannot figure out where it is due to the stupid box fonts. Help me!

I had trouble using the crack included on CD4. After trying everything, I finally tried the #70 crack and it worked. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit on "Windows XP sp2 compatibility". Crashed on me once but working perfectly so far. Btw, all settings were turned all the way up(AA,etc.). Thanks for the upload and the many that contributed with uploads and advice to get it working.

But I have encountered a new problem. OK for all the people with the Issue were the game crashes after you get in the escape pod in the first level.
My game crashed just after the movie showing your escape pod leaving the ship. Every time...
Ok so then I patched up to 1.03 and same issue, what finally worked is shutting off the movies under the configure option in the first menu.
Sux but it works to play the game. If you turn movies back on you can see the ones you missed in the game with the movie viewer.
IF Anyone has a better fix then this please post it.

I Managed to get past that part without it crashing and then it crashed right after the movie with the fighting Jedi, Then I managed to get past that by saving right before it and then it crashed right after the next movie. I turned Movies off but they still seem to be playing and crashing my game.

Great torrent, was downloaded in about 6hrs and the iso. installation was a breeze (and I've only just started with this kind of thing). The included cracked exe. didn't work for me, so i recommend the Deviance crack from http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/c910760_0.htm, his worked for both this and my quake4. GJ!

The download and everything was fine, but when i start installing Disc 1 ( mounted with Daemon Tools) it always gets stuck on the same file, and it will sit and install the same file untill 100%; is this normal, or is something wrong? BTW the file was a models file, and it ended in models.bil( or something like that)

Hi, I've read this entire thread and I haven't found an answer to the problem I'm having with installation. I'm running XP sp3.
I've successfully downloaded and extracted the ISO's. When I mount the first ISO, autorun doesn't kick in. I open the KOTOR_1 folder, nothing happens when I try to open autorun.exe. No luck when I try to open setup.exe, either (I get a nice splash screen, but a windows error before anything happens - with the title bar "severe"

Okay, so this is crazy. I had Vista and had SWKOTOR installed and running fine (using the info listed in the posts above). I then completely reformatted my computer, and reinstalled SWKOTOR using the exact same process and it wouldn't work. I tried everything listed above only to have wasted hours and hours and nothing worked.
Then, I recently installed every single Vista update, and I tried it again and voila it worked. Apparently, Vista fixes the problem when you update it.
You still need to replace the old SWKOTOR.exe file with the new SWKOTOR.exe file, but everything seems to be working great again.

I can't open DAEMON LITE program?! When I double-click the desktop shortcut it keeps coming up with the error message: "You need local administrator privileges to run DAEMON Tools Lite for the first time." Yet, I DO have administrator rights since it's my own friggin' laptop?!

I found a solution to Dantooine lag i had the Disable vertex buffer objects in the ini file but that didn`t work. However while in the game i was playing around with the graphics options and found that turning off the `grass` option all lag is eliminated with no changes to graphics quality. Not sure in the buffer thingy works but so you know i had that enabled when i turned off the grass settings

I have a bad problem with the game, As soon as i learnt to be a Jedi, and went out from the Jedi Academy, as soon as i move a little, i walk throught the whole map. and my game also laggs as hell then. FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WITH CRASHING ERRORS
This game is quite old and most crashes are cause because of either dual or quad core cpus not processing properly. To fix most crashes when you run the game CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game. Find swkotor.exe in your processes, right click on it, click set affinity and uncheck all but CPU 0 and the game should run fine.

I'm having a weird problem that I've only found one other person having. It installed fine, it cracked fine, it opens fine, but when it gets to the main menu there's a guy standing there with smoke and some background images to the right. Unfortunately though there is no text. Occasionally the logo type thingo flickers up for a second every minute or so but other than that nothing. The links all work though =S. I got to New Game by guessing and it went to character selection screen but one of the characters was half missing and the rest sort of flickered constantly. Does anyone have a solution o this cause it's a pain knowing that the game is working but just not displaying properly. I've tried the Vertex Buffer, I've tried changing graphical options, tried compatibility,I've tried every solution I could find but still nothing =S

I LOVED this game on the xbox many years ago and now since my xbox is gone i can finally replay one of my most favorite games of all time! Thank you very much!!! Installing was a bit of a problem for me but ill explain what I DID in order for it to work.
1: download files.
2: The rar file has FOUR MAIN ISO FILES.. these ISO FILES are "disc images" so to say... You need to get a virtual drive tool (such as alcohol 120%) mount all four ISO files to seperate individual virtual drives.
3: once mounted, go to my computer and select the disc drive that sayd kotor disc 1... this will being installation.
4: when it asks for the nest discs just type in the corresponding drive letter (such as E for the disc # requested.
5: After installation is complete you must download the 1.03 UPDATE. (use google, i dont have link on me now but google had it easily)
6: Install update
7: With virtual drives still on, go to my computer and RIGHT CLICK > EXPLORE disc 4. Open the razor1991 folder and drag the SWKOTOR.exe file onto desktop.
8: Go into your star wars: KOTOR main folder and delete the real swkotor.exe.
9: drag the cracked swkotor.exe (the one u dragged onto ur desktop) into the main SWKOTOR folder.
10: Double click th swkotor.exe to begin play!
Thank you so much i really love this game, it looks amazing on my computer, smooth framerates and much better graphics than the xbox version!
By the way if anyone knows how to enable xbox360 controller for this game please help me out!

To fix crashing i found a solution!!!!
I tried everything (reinstalling, patching, etc)
but i finally found a fix to stop crashes.
All i did was update drivers to latest.
and disable physx. no more crashes!!!

Well, I got as far as installing the game. For those of you still hung up on the actual installation, here's exactly what you do:
When you download the game, the folder will contain dozens of rars. Just extract the first one using WINRAR.
This will create 4 ISO files. But depending on your display they might just show up as more rars. If the extraction went fine (which it should) then don't worry about it, but if you really want to confirm that the new ISO files have appeared, just look through the rars to find the ones labeled something like CD 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.
Mount the first ISO by using Daemon tools or PowerISO or whatever.
The game will install and ask for each disc. It does this by prompting you to tell it which drive has the next disc. When it does just mount the next disc and then go to the prompt and tell it to continue, "Okay", or keep using the drive it's asking about. It'll see the new disc is ready and continue.
If you don't have Directx 9b it'll need you to install that next.
Finally, once it's installed, you need to crack it. The crack is in the 4th disc. Mount it, and once it's mounted, go to MY COMPUTER and EXPLORE the mounted Star Wars disc. The crack is in the Razor1911 folder. Copy the exe that's there, go into your program files folder where the game installed, and paste that crack into Lucasarts/SWKotOR folder. Overwrite the file that's there. Now you're ready.
HOWEVER, I already had a problem, the game crashed to desktop when I tried selecting my character. I haven't read all the 10,000 posts in this thread yet so I assume the answer's there, where I will now go search.

I think i have pretty much done all there is to do but after reinstalling and everything its still the same problem. I downloaded the v1.03 patch and also the no cd crack. Also i switched to Windows XP SP2 and ran it as admin (im on vista now). Nothing worked!!
FYI i read all the comments above, ALL of them and none had solutions to my problem. I really want to play this game. Can anyone pls help me out?? Im literally clawing my nails on the wall and banging my head on the floor now...

I think ive found my problem here. I ran the game's system compatibility check and found that the openGL (what is that BTW) didnt pass the check. Its said there that the minimum requirement is Non-Windows Generic OpenGL 1.4.0 drivers....
Can anyone help me out please !!

Already have this but great upload, if you like rpg's and SW this is a must really good game with awesome story line
