please please please somebody helpme, i am a first timer with this download thing, i brought the psp 3 months ago was told it could download games to play. I have tried to but everytime i look in my fil via the psp it says currupt data. The system software i have is 3.40 OE-A, could someone help me. what is firmware and have i got it, also how do i download properly, i would really appreciate some one contacting me at mrtimrussell@aol.co.uk or replying to this in depth

you already have custom firmware so your ok there!!!
in the root of psp directory (memory card) their should be a folder named iso open that up and copy the cso or iso (file formats for games) into their and the games will work!!!!
if you put psp games anywhere else it wil say corrupt data as it does!!

I have two PSP s, one running 3.90 m33 with 1.50 kernel add on and one running 3.40oe-a. I prefer the latter. But if you don't know what you are doing, find someone who does and have them actually set you up. Games have to be in specific folders, some in a ISO folder, some in your game folder, and where you place files dictates whether they even show up or not. Running custom firmware is the only way to go with a psp. The person (DA9) saying you are "downgrading it" is dumb 
. You can run new and old games on all firmwares that support a 1.50 kernel addon. - DA9 is probably upset because he is 12 and mommy will only buy him a DS.

if u live in the UK go to www.undercutter.co.uk and they will mod your psp with 3.80 m33-5 for £15. ive done a bit of hunting and this is the best deal ive seen

For the ones whit problems READ THIS!
Needs:
1.psp whit a CFW (custom firm ware) like 3.90 m33-2
2.PSP emulator if you want PSX game on your psp (PSX = Playstation 1)
3.The game you want to play.
oke lets get started..
First of all if you have a psp (CWF) and you did not format you MemoryStick
DO THIS FIRST it will make the required Folders/maps
(MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR MUSIC, PHOTO`s etc. YOU WANT TO KEEP!!!!)
oke 1st
look connect the psp, a window will pop up if not? try my computer and klick psp
you will see some folders like PSP, ISO, etc. this is your ROOT folder (main folder)
oke open PSP then GAME or GAME150 put you emulator in here or
Unpack the homebrew game and put it in there like this: PSP/GAME/DOOM
(DOOM is a example) just for the ones who didnt know..
now if evrything is Ok you can play the game just reboot you psp
go to game and there you are playing you home brew game!

Hi all, I know this is not a forum for questions as such, but I have looked everywhere and cannot find an easy straight forward answer to my problem.
Just got the PSP today and want to play games on it from the likes of Mininova etc.
Nothing seems to work. I looked at the current software on the PSP and it says 3.93.
Can someone please help me, as MY head is about to explode.

For people who don't know what they're doing if you have CW:
Go inside the folder psp and there should be a folder called GAME inside that you should put homebrew applicationss and stuff in!!!
IT WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE CW!!!

If your on firmware i think over 3.80 then the only way to get CF is to get a thing called pandoras battery....

Easiest way to downgrade is to google it. There are loads of sites and all the software is free. There are step by step tutorials on a number of websites.

look if u hav a cfw psp up to 3.90 m33 like i do there should be a file in ur psp called ISO. plug ur psp up to the comp open up the drive and whala. easy as that. just drag the folder of the game into the ISO folder. then on ur psp go to game>saved data>then click on the game

for psp:
make sure u have a psp fat and u have to downgrade it, i wouldnt reccommend downgrade ur psp bu urself, in can cause bricks

hey all psp hackers the best CFW u can get atm 4 the psp has to be 4.01 M33-2 uk livers please add hayhoea to XFIRE or hayhoea00@hotmail.co.uk for assistance i am using this FW and i have been able to play everygame so far even if i cant read them all so try searching darkalex for more info on downgrading then upgrading your psp as it goes add me if u need more help

oh and muj786 there is a program u can use called YACC yet another cso compressor that is what i use but if u have a ISO keep that CSO's lag in big games EX. gta liberty city storeys and VCS and need for speed carbon try to use the iso less chance of going wrong and look into the CFW posted earlya and then u wont get no probs

If you're new to this...you wanna first check the firware on your psp. You can do this by checking out your "system information" in your psp.
Now generally if you're going to download the psp games from the net (like all other sensible **** strapped human beings) you want to make sure that you have a 'custom firmware' or CFW or CW like the ppl above have mentioned.
Try to get the latest firmware installed on your psp; don't try do it by yourself until you've seen it being done at least a few time (and even then be careful cuz there are realistic chances that your system will become a brick)
Once you've matched your psp system firmware to the requirements of the game that you wanna download the rest is pretty easy as dragging one folder to another.
Please take the time to read the messages above. All the information that you may need is already posted there.

ok for any1 with cfw (custom firmware) m33, in the root menu of your psp make a folder called ISO, it has to be in capital letters. put any downloaded game in there it can be iso or cso then disconnect it from the computer and play your game

I Downloaded Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 and then I placed the update folder in PSP/GAMES and then I ran it on my PSP but it said: The game could not be started. (800201) What do I do? My PSP version is 4.05... If 4.05 does have Custom Firmware then why won't the games work? I put the games that I want to play in PSP/GAMES/ISO that didn't work. I put it in: PSP/ISO that didn't work and I put it in just ISO and that didn't work... I can only see it if I put it in PSP/GAMES/ISO but it is corrupted data... Can someone please help me thanks!

4.05 doesn't have CFW but there is a 4.05 CFW if you see what I mean. Check your firmware version. If it says "4.05" then you have original firmware. If it say "4.05m33" then you have custom firmware.

Hi Guys,
I am a newbie. I just bought PSP 3000 System Software ver 4.21.
I would love to download PSP games from Mininova. From the above discussions I understand some Custom Firmware (CFW) is needed.
Could someone tell me where could I find that CFW (the link).
Once I have downloaded the CFW on my PC, what do I have to do.

jsmakkar you can't put CFW on PSP 3000..yet..maybe someday..SORRY!!
The psp fat can have CFW 100%. And the PSP SLIM 2000 can have to but look out beacause on the new ones u can't again Don't buy new PSP's if you want Custom Firmware buy old ones... and if you have 3000 buy games if you dont have much ***** buy used ones. you can find used games with half price(just be sure that the umd disc is not scratched...bye[sorry for my english]). SONY PSP.
