got given a Streetpilot c510 by mate and I don't think it's registered (probably bought down the pub). Do you know if I can load this on the c510 or do i have to register the c510 on the Garmin site first

I installed this, into an existing Mapsource Metroguide installation, and I can choose to change from the Metroguide mapset to the City Navigator mapset, but it only seems to be an overview map showing major roads, and not a detailed map showing all minor roads like what Metroguide shows.

Any idea how I can get it to display all roads and POIs?

Works on N95 but with a few twists.
1. Downloaded "Garmin Mobile XT v4.10.60 for N95 N82+ENG-GER.info +CityNavigaton (www.softzone.org)" delete GarminDevice.xml after running app. USe Supermouse's 1.3 keygen, (Garmin Unlock Utility - Keygen Utility - Originals by JetMouse)
2. Install this torrent with the serial # provided in (Installation & Unlock.txt)this will only unlock for pc, not the phone so don't copy anything across yet. It's required as there needs to be a validated map for a later step.
3. There is no Aust v8 maps in keygen so you have (01 - Find the Map_Product ID) dir.
Fire up (04 - MapSetToolKit.exe) and in the middle on the right had side was the actual map ID. Plug this in under (custom maps) in the keygen..my map ID was 271.
Generate the key then go into Mapsource => Utilities => Unlock maps enter the code when requested and your done. Now the maps can be transferred to the phone from Mapsource with the proper codes etc.

Fire up Mapsource, pick the maps you want by highlighting them on the map of oz (they will appear in the Maps tab)...then with the N95 connected in data/usb mode goto utilities and select transfer..DONE

zafiro71 - Did you create the GMAPSUPP.UNL file? If you got GarminXT to work on your phone, you would have had to create a file called SW.UNL. To get the maps to work, you have to create that other one as well. They all go into the Garmin folder once it has been installed including the map you have created. I've installed these maps with the garmin xt on my N80 and it works fine.

Downloaded and installed on my phone, but program wont work.
Cant find that Bl00dy "garmindevice.xml" its says to delete.
Installed on my N82 but all it does it flash once and doesnt open program when you click on it, this is MIGHTY frustrating.

I've got everything installed ok (on my Nokia N95). But when I do an address search it pops up with state and there are no states listed When I go into nearby cities it lists them perfectly and even show's what state they're in. Anyone have any ideas?

After weeks of endless trawling forums, dozens of dead ends, useless download after useless download, I stumble across this gem & I'm very glad I persisted - my efforts have been rewarded, thank you

BTW, I got it working on my N95 8GB. The maps work perfectly, the voice guided navigation is good (better than the Nokia Maps was anyway - although not as good an interface, but you don't look at it while ur driving do you). Now all that's left to do is find a better voice than those annoying Pommy & Yanky voices urrgghhh

I've read somewhere where you can say add gmapsupp.img, then gmapsupp1.img etc. but i haven't tested it, as i use mapsource to put all the maps i want, and make 1 big gmapsupp.img file

Actually I worked it out.. I downloaded the the key-gen, by typing in 'Jetmouse 1.3 key-gen' in the search box on this site and downloaded the file. Once downloaded, I extracted the files and followed the great instructions which were downloaded with the key-gen.

Followed the steps with ease and now map works on my nuvi..

Hi I am trying to install this on an N95 8GB but the maps will not unlock? I'm using map ID 271 as thats what it says inmapset toolkit. But have generated a few key and none of them work? It just says unlock code not correct. I am still using my card ID 3417294. BUt it still will not unlock the map in mapsource. Any one able to help? The easiest way is to copy the unlock code into a text file and call it GMAPSUPP.UNL where UNL is the file extension. The important thing with this is to make sure you correctly change the file extension. Otherwise it will just remain a text file. Then copy that into the same place as where the map is on your device and it's done. * The next bit is for anyone confused how to change file extensions - The easiest way is to go My Computer -> then up the top click on Tools, then folder options. Click on the View tab, then scroll down until you see "hide extensions for known file types" and untick the box. Then you can get rid of the .txt extension

The sw.unl will unlock the garmin software, and allow you to use the gps.
The gmapsupp.unl is for the maps. I usually run the software first, then put the map in next. But i dont think doing it all at once should be a problem, as Garmin devices usually come with maps preloaded.

I see most folks are putting this on a phone....will it work with the Nuvi 760?

I downloaded this torrent and extracted the files. I then ran setup.exe and installed CityNavigator to my PC. At the end of the install it asked me to Unlock my maps, and launch CityNavigator.

I went into the MapSource program (installed form this torrent) and clicked "Utlities > Get Unit ID". I used this 10 digit ID in JetMouse's keygen (v1.3) and received a long Unlock code.

Thanks a lot for the unlock code.
I have unlocked the Australian map and everything went well. I then transferred the maps to my nuvi 300 and it also completed successfully. I have inserted the code to the GMAPSUPP.UNL file and transferred it to the directory on my GPS containing the image file (~35 MB - only some regions). When I start the Nuvi it says "can't unlock maps".

Am I doing something wrong?

Mine didn't work unfortunately. The garmin web updater updated the firmware on the 310, then the unlock code worked to update the maps on the device but then after rebooting the unit said it couldn't unlock the maps. I tried changing the gmapprom.unl file to the above code too, but it still won't unlock on the unit.

Any suggestions???

@ hithere, No you haven't bricked you unit. The easiest way to re enter the code is to rightmouse click on the gmapsupp.unl file and open with notepad, then delete the code you put in and replace it with this one. NKQ6J6CZDAUT8ED4ZS7WU8XY7

hi i have N95 mobile. i downloaded other torrent which gave me Europe main road's maps. i need australia's map. so i put the map code 271 in key generation and save as GMAPSUPP.UNL which gave me only main road's map. can anybody tell me y i got only main roads maps? how to get Australia's map with all streets not only main street's map? do i have to download this torrent again to get Australia's map or i can use last downloaded torrent to get Australia's map?

insert_this i have been reffered by a friend to ask you about the problem with my garmin gps. it is telling me that i need to unlock the maps and that i need to enter a 25pin code. i have tried different pins but none are working.

this is the exact message it is giving me:

Hi, I cant seem to get this working. I have a nuvi 250. I unlock the maps in mapsource, I put the 25 digit code and then upload to my GPS and it says, canot unlock maps. it is a similar problem to pepe and mrivato.

@ mojoho, Copy this NFZJBJMQU59MHTJ78RY8MX322 into a text document, then change the name to gmapsupp.unl , where .unl is the file extension. To read how to do it, look at post 73 above. Then copy that into your unit where the map is(should also be called gmapsupp)

@ mmelly57, To install this map, you use mapsource, which should have installed. You just plug your unit in, and upload it from mapsource. You can also create the gmapsupp file, then copy it into your unit separately, but the first way is easy enough. Do the same as i have written for mojoho, but use this code B28HLFLDMM2D5CYFN2L7QKDXE [That code is for your c320]. The answer to your second question is yes, you will need different codes for different units.

thanks insert this, had a bit of trouble with it originally, but finally got it done, initially it said cant unlockmaps, this is what I had to do which might help other users.
Highlighted the map of aus using the map tool which placed the 75 maps under the map tab, then went to utilities, manage map products, unlock regions, add, entered the unlock code (supplied by insert this) named the put a comment about the region (i used C320) (my unit), then transferred data to gps, using the transfer tab, this seemed to work not sure if this is what I was supposed to do, but may help other users,

Yep.. Load the maps into mapsource. Get a new cf card. and using mapsource send files to card. Dont forget to use the unlock code.

I am a bit confused on how to do...! I have a NUVI 205W and also a SD Card with the Thailand Map on. The SD card does not work and I was told that I have to unlock the SD card first. The SD Card ID is: EC4C3009 but it will not be accepted in the ublock utility 1.3
Do I make somethin wrong? or do I need to start again with the Unit ID? I would however prefer to unlock the card and use it in another GPS as well.

I was reading many times that it would be possible to unlock the card and use the card on different GPS after that. How this can be done, and what unlock utility I would need to make it work for my NUVI 205W and StreetPilot 2610 (both use the same SD Card).

I have the unlock utility 1.3 - 1.5 (JetMouse) but they all show options for Garmin Mobile XT and Garmin Mobile PC only...!

Please can you help because I purchased both units in the US but without the correct maps from asia I can not use them.

@ 85turbo, There should be an img file called gmapsupp.img You copy that into your new memory card. Then you need to get the unit id of the unit you want to use it on. You can do that through mapsource or when you have the unit on, you should be able to find it there. Once you have that, you have to generate a 25 digit code. Just post your unit id here and ill give it to you. Then, open a new text file on your pc, and copy that 25 digit number in there.

@ 85turbo, The original wont have the gmapsupp.unl file because it has been unlocked specifically for that unit. If you try that card in any other unit, it wont work, thats why you need the .unl file. As far as where should the map go, i cant quite remember. Hehehe. Been along time since ive tried it on a garmin specific device. I've just been putting them on phones lately. But try in the garmin folder, and if it doesnt work, try in the root directory. As long as wherever the map goes, the unl file goes with it.

@vai81, Yeah i think the easiest way is to use mapsource to get the unit id. Saves any confusion.

the first map set was copied from another of my garmin units(a GVN-53).

@ azza2929, You access the gps unit like an external hdd plugged into your computer. You should see it in "My Computer". Then where ever you see the gmapsupp file on your gps device, that's where the gmapsupp.unl file will go. To get rid of the .txt extension, you delete it. ie what you should see if you correctly unhid file extensions would be gmapsupp.unl.txt? if you see that, delete the .txt from the end of it so it just reads gmapsupp.unl

Hi,
After many tries and going around circles for a while I finally loaded the maps onto my Street pilot C320. It boots up OK and finds the maps but I now cannot get any satellite reception.
I have tried both a soft & hard reboot of my Street Pilot but still no good. I have left it outside with clear view of satellite for over 1 hr but still no satellite. Any ideas what may be wrong please. Have I killed it ??

I tried to insert the code into the coupon area of the unlock part of my garmin account but it didn't work and asks for an 8digit code which comes on the back of the product packaging.

@ copsss69, download the installation file from http://www8.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=3939 and have your phone connected in data transfer and run the setup. It will find your phone and install

@ianw27, you need to install mapsource onto your computer, then unlock the maps and have your device connected to your computer. to unlock the maps you need your unit id. You can find this in mapsource. Easiest way then is to choose the whole of Australia and then send it to your device. It's should be about 156 meg

I wanted to try the latest maps on my 760.
I downloaded Garmin_MAPSOURCE_CNAUNT2009.rar 279842KB and after decompressing it, ran the setup.exe file in the windows directory, with the unit connected to the PC. It requests an 8 character Product key.
keygen1.5 does not seem to help. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone help me ... im losing my mind !!!
i have followed the instructions by installing garmin on my N95 8gb , deleating the "GarminDevice.xml" , retreiving my "Card ID" on the N95 , going to the keygen and generating a device unlock code , creating a SW.UNL file with my unlock code in the file , restarting garmin and my GPs serches for a device but does not find anything but if i go to my N95's default gps program then it finds a gps signal, cant work out why

@ veryanger, Also have you selected Intergrated GPS in Garmin. To get there go Tools -> Settings -> System -> Remote GPS. Make sure to select Integrated. If it doesn't allow you to, then it means there is something wrong with your unlock code.

@ insert_this: my question is relating to the actual content of this download. I have CNAUST v7 and need to upgrade (specifically requiring the updated version of Melbourne maps wirh Eastlink etc).
I went to the Garmin website and the only new product they have is called City Navigator NT??? Is this that version?? Or is it an update?? Or a standalone version, with new updated maps?

You download the software for your phone os, plus the two additional file below it.

This torrent you would use for the maps, but there is 2009NT maps our for Australia.

But in answering your question. Yes this torrent will work for you as your os is symbian s60 3rd

If once you have named it, it still looks like a txt file, then the extension is still a .txt [If you are using XP,go My Computer -> then up the top click on Tools, then folder options. Click on the View tab, then scroll down until you see "hide extensions for known file types" and untick the box. Then you can get rid of the .txt extension] Vista uses should see the .txt which has to be deleted. Once finished it should look like an unknown file type. Put this file into the Garmin root directory, where you should see the gmapsupp.img map that you have placed on there

@ mmelly57, funny you should mention that as im playing around with this as well. So far i've managed to have Aus 2009NT, Aus topo, and another map (any) come up on the garmin. It definately takes longer to load though. What i did was name AU2009NT to gmapprom.img, then leave one (in your case shonky maps) as gmapsupp.img, and then name the other mapset gmapsup2.img. the main thing to remember is if you are loading maps from mapsource, they will name them all gmapsupp.ing. so load 1 on at a time, and change the name before loading the next one on, or else it will overwrite the previous set you put on. Also if you need to use .unl files for you know what, make sure to name them the same as the mapsets. eg: gmapprom.unl, etc. Hope you have some luck. BTW - when i started garmin up for the first time after doing this, it said i had too many maps for my card, but still works and shows them up. Not to mention i still have the gmapbmap.img so in total 4 maps on.

To get the unlock codes, download Garmin Key Generator from Mininova.
This will allow you to install all of your maps to Map Source and your Garmin GPS.

There are a few ways that you can load maps onto your Computer and GPS, I will try & explain them for you.
You will need the following to use these methods.
1. Map Source
2. Garmin Unlock Wizard
3. Garmin Map Install
4. Garmin Key Generator
OPTION 1 :
To install Map Source on your computer.
INSTALLING CITY NAVIGATOR AUSTRALIA NT 2008 including Map Source
Download City Navigator Australia NT 2008
Double Click Setup.exe
Click install City Navigator.
Next
Accept both Agreements
Next
Browse to Install to C:\Garmin\
You may need to create a New Folder\Directory
Click on Install
Click Finish
Next

OPTION 3:
Using Key Generator
Open Map Source and attach your GPS to your computer via the USB cable.
Click on >Utilities>Get Unit ID
Choose your GPS if it is not listed click on find device.
Hit Copy next to Unit ID
OPEN KEY GENERATOR
Insert the copied Unit ID number into the first field
Click on the drop down field under Select Map Product for the Map you wish to unlock.
If it is not listed go to the bottom of the list for <custom mapset> and insert the Map ID in the first field.
OK
Click on Generate
Highlight the map unlock code right click your mouse and click on copy.
Open Map Source and go to >Utilities>Manage Map Products>Unlock Regions
Hit Add
Insert the unlock code that you created and a comment if you want (usually you put the name of the map here)
OK
Now either go back to option 2 where we left off to proceed further.
The maps should now be unlocked on your computer.

OPTION 4:
TO INSTALL MAPS ONTO YOUR GPS
Check what maps you have installed on your GPS by going to >Tools>Settings>Maps>Map Info
This will tell you which maps you have.
If you don't have City Navigator Australia NT 2009
Connect your GPS to your computer via the USB cable
If your computer has a SD card slot take the SD card out of the GPS and insert it into the SD slot on the computer.
The reason for this is that it will be quicker to copy the files to your SD card this way.
Using Windows Explorer look at the GPS & SD card to see what the map files are called on your GPS
They will be under G:\Garmin (gps)
and H:\Garmin (sd card)
the maps will be called gmapsupp.img
If you have this file on your SD card and not on your GPS copy it over to your gps Garmin folder and rename it gmapprom.img
You can load any maps that you have within Map Source
Open Map Install
Next

Finish
Map Install will now build the Map Set and install it onto your SD Card or GPS Internal memory.
Once finished disconnect your GPS and reinsert the sd card into your gps and turn it on, you should now see all of the maps under >Tool>Settings>Map>Map Info.
You need to pick which ones you want to see on your GPS.
You should now be finished installing Map Source and all of the maps.

The important thing with this is to make sure you correctly change the file extension to .unl. Otherwise it will just remain a text file. Then copy that into the same place as where the map is on your device and it's done. The next bit is for anyone confused how to change file extensions - The easiest way is to do the following :
XP Users - Go to My Computer -> then up the top click on Tools, then folder options. Click on the View tab, then scroll down until you see "hide extensions for known file types" and untick the box. Then you can get rid of the .txt extension
Vista Users - Open Explorer-> then up the top click on Tools, then folder options. Click on the View tab, then scroll down until you see "hide extensions for known file types" and untick the box. Then you can get rid of the .txt extension

insert this or mmelly 57 - need your help as I'm a tech dunce. Have downloaded the City Navigator 2008 for my Garmin Streetpilot c510. There are many files which I have put in a Mapsource folder on my PC - I unzipped a rar file and it created a Disc 1 folder with lots of different files in it. The City Navigator has a file called "installation & unlock". This states a PC unlock code. My Garmin paperwork states my Unit serial number : 12G192514 AND an unlock code which of course is different to the Navigator file "installation & unlock" code. So when I create a GMAPSUPP.UNL file to put in my GARMIN device - which code do I put in it. Also I was going to load the file on an SD card and then put this in the Garmin asa safety measure - will this work (I'll keep the old map in the Garmin device. If you want my email just let me know. Hope you can help

wakersm, have you read the comments #393 - #402, that should of explained everything to you. BTW City Navigator Australia NT 2009 is also available for download on mininova. the unlock code for 2008 is CSGP3HXPG2ZP6BR8R3A6XA9UJ
You always use your unit ID NOT the serial number. The gmapsupp.unl must go into the same directory as the gmapsupp.img which should be in a folder called Garmin.

INSERT_THIS - thanks so much. greatly appreciate your help. i must be doing something wrong though as it all looks ready to go but it still says i need detailed maps.

i took your code - saved it as a GMAPSUPP.UNL (deleteing .txt) and saved it to the garmin dir on the phone.

sorry i'm new to this but pretty sure all is as it should be on the phone.

@ sleeper123456, install the main.msi onto your computer. Once installed go into programs and find mapsource. Run mapsource you should see the AU map and a popup saying the map is locked. Click on unlock map then choose "have the 25 digit code" selection. Then choose the type in unlock code. Copy the code i gave you and put it in there. Lastly, DO NOT REGISTER.!!!! Then it is unlocked and because you used the code i gave you, you wont need the .unl file anymore because the map is now unlocked specifically for your device.
Now it is unlocked click on the map tool in the toolbar of mapsource. Choose parts or all of australia to upload to your phone or device. Make sure you have your phone/device connected and click on the send to device.

NOTE: this is now an old map. AU NT 2009 has been out for awhile.

@ sleeper123456, Ok well 2009 and new mapsource is a different story to installing this version. First off you will need a new code. So use this code instead for 2009 - H2ZWEMTQAEBWC6ND2FGVG4S22
The best way to install the 2009 maps is to go into the folder you downloaded, click on the windows folder, then the MSI folder, then run the CNAUSNT2009Update_ENU.msi
Where it comes up with the unlock regions, click on the add tab, paste the code above in, and then name the map something like Australia 2009 [that part is only for you to make it easier to associate the code with the map]
Then follow the last post regarding selecting and sending to device

OK Everyone i have a tricky one - my new best friend Insert_this can hopefully help - this will likely be one for those who live and breathe workarounds:_)

Nokia N95 (8gb) using garmin XT

works completely fine UNTIL i turn on the bluetooth to use for talking etc... then the VOICE commands stop working audibly. as soon as i turn bluetooth off - back it comes.
