I do have the FLACs and that's precisely why I made them MP3s, for my iPods. There is a flac torrent of Metallica, which I link to.
Also I found another tool that I am using for my future uses, called "dBpoweramp Music Converter". I quite like it.
I know FLAC is better and I do love it, but the incompatibility with most portable music players is sad. So I convert the flacs into the highest quality MP3s and hope that they sound alright.
And my statement about FLAC to MP3 was more like why WinAmp can't turn FLACS into MP3s yet it can into WAVS. I then used iTunes to turn wavs into mp3s. Yet with "dBpoweramp Music Converter" I can convert flacs into MP3s while conserving the ID3 tags! Pretty nifty.
Thanks for your comment tho!

320, and even 256 mp3 are good enough, nobody's able to tell the difference between a cd, flac, etc.
it's just in your mind, that there is a difference, thus you'll hear a difference.
but if you do a abx blind test on the best monitoring system out there, you won't be able to tell the difference. even most people won't be able to tell the difference with a 160 kbps mp3.
ps: i'm a pro audio engineer. don't think, just listen and you won't distinguish

I know but people will hesitate and go "WHY ISNT THIS 320KBPS???" so if I have the power to make them that, why not? Besides, not that huge of a file size different between 320 and 198.
And the user can do w/e he wants with these songs after he's done downloading them, he could make them lower quality so he can save space, i'm just giving the best quality MP3s out there for the iPod freaks and stuff that dont have the patience to change everything to MP3. I just got an iPod so all my flacs (which is a lot of them) were made into MP3s. Might as well share the love around

Hey, thanks a whole bunch for this great torrent!
I have long since lost the 9 copies of all of these albums that I have bought over the years, and I imported all of these @ 128 (gasp!) a long, long time ago (back when a full gig for a portable music player was the stuff of fantasies)
Thanks again, and thank you esp. for having everything tagged correctly...figured I'd have 15 minuted of re-tagging once this downloaded, but none!

awesome, I usually take mp3s i download then use a program that "repairs" the compressed portions of data, then take that and upscale them to 24bit wavs. they sound excellent over 320kbps "2000-5000kbps", but the file size goes from 5-10mb per song to a staggering 130-180mb per song.

hi folks, ive been downloading flac files for along time and to be honest i cant tell the difference in sound quality between 256mp3 and a lossless file....i have a seagate 1TB hard drive connected to my laptop witch inturn is connected to my audio lab amp driving music to my castle howard speakers....and in a test some friends and i carried out there was very little difference in quality...i have since used a programme called Fairstars Audio Converter to turn all my flac files to mp3 and gained alot more hard drive space as well....thanks for the upload brill.......

Thanks, excellent Torrent, excellent sound, excellent band.
Seeding @ over 1000kB/s until 1000% complete.

Some people can honestly tell the difference, some can't. I cannot, but I convert my MP3s from FLACs so I am very appreciative of people that release FLACs. I also release some of my stuff in FLAC.
@8, there is no you "can repair" the bitrate. Once someone has downgraded the quality, you can not regain it. Bad analogy, but here it goes: Think of a thin wall protecting a kings castle. He wants it to appear more menacing, so he paints over it to make it look better, but it's still the same thin wall... Eww, that was a horrible one but eh.

nice job man excellent torrent
thank you a lot

your only realy gonna notice the difference on a high quality audio system
you wont notice it on normal pc speakers or mp3 players for example
and to lancelovepump's comment,
you would notice the difference of a 160kbps track
if you had good quality stuff
although the majority dont even KNOW the difference
but as a constant music listener i do

Seeding. Great upload. High quality sound. Indeed, every mp3 file over 190 kbps, and even the majority at 128kbps, also sound great on almost every audio system.
Download this torrent confidently. You'll enjoy it.

but as some mension this is not all, there's 1/3 of their albums missing.
And remember Metallica should be played Loud by a screaming headbanging dude playing airguitar
merry x-mas and happy new year to all

a comment to the info inside the torrent: "(why they can't make them MP3's directly, I have no idea)"

the reason why they didnt make them mp3's is because FLAC is a much better compression format, although files may be heavier. i would much prefer an archive in FLAC than mp3. but if it were up to me, i would have versions in both FLAC (for lossless archiving)and mp3 (for playng on mp3 players), but thats just me. i await the day when all mp3 players support FLAC.
