The crack dont work. I Think this not Leopard compatible.
:'(

2.Posted by maraismarais on Feb 01 2008 at 11:39

Use iPatcher. You'll see ;)

3.Posted by olympi on Feb 01 2008 at 13:53

i cannot get this to work..
either im just being stupid but i mount the .cdr and cannot see how to install?

4.Posted by PicLe on Feb 02 2008 at 00:14

Works fine even when the game said that my macbook doesn't meet the requirements

5.Posted by Iluvator on Feb 02 2008 at 23:58

I'm getting some errors from the cracks. In order to get the cracks to run at all (as opposed to crashing the moment they launch), I had to run them in rosetta mode. They still gave errors, though, saying that the file was successfully patched, but a handful of files that should have been modified were not. After that, the game still won't launch without the original dvd.

I suspect that it is Leopard incompatible. Has anyone gotten it to work under 10.5?

6.Posted by ethien on Feb 04 2008 at 17:09

to get the cracks working on Leopard (I'm on 10.5.1):

(this step by step has to be posted in three separate posts as it is too long)

Procedure is the same for all three cracks (Update1, Update2, Warlords)

A. Get latest iPatcher executable:

1. Download iPatch 3.7.1, and mount it
2. Right-click iPatch, select "Show Package Content"
3. Locate "Contents/Resources/iPatcher" and right-click again, select "Show Package Content" again
4. Locate the "Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" executable (212 KB)

7.Posted by ethien on Feb 04 2008 at 17:09

B. Update iPatcher executable:

1. Install the update
2. Mount the crack image and copy the crack executable to your mac (desktop for instance) so it can be modified
3. Right-click it and select "Show Package Content"
4. Locate "Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" (208 KB) and replace it with the one from the one you found in the latest version of iPatch

8.Posted by ethien on Feb 04 2008 at 17:11

C. Change Civ4 & Civ4 Warlords permissions and run crack:

Before running the crack you need to change permissions on the Civ4 (or Civ4 Warlords if you're trying to install the Warlords crack) executable or the crack will fail. To do so:

1. Right-click on the Civ4 (or Civ4 Warlords) executable, select "Show Package Content", you see a "Contents" folder
2. Open Terminal
3. type (without inverted commas): 'sudo -R chmod=rwx ' (note the space after rwx) and then drag the "Contents" folder to the Terminal window.
4. Press Enter and the Terminal asks you for your admin password.
5. If you don't get any error message, run the crack.

You're done!

This step by step was initially posted in a much simpler version by Libertius on TPB.

9.Posted by ethien on Feb 05 2008 at 09:42

erm

the command in step 3 above is wrong ^^

should have read:

sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx

10.Posted by ethien on Feb 05 2008 at 09:42

For those who would like to know:

One of the new features of Leopard is its handling of permissions, reputedly better than Tiger (I don't understand it enough myself to judge). That's why, although we patched the cracks to adapt them to Leopard, it still won't run and give you a permission error for half a dozen files that need updating in order for the game to run without CD. We could change the permissions for these files only, but it's easier to just change all of them with the Terminal.

The trick is you have to do it as root user, or the permissions just revert back to their previous state when you close the Info window.

The command is therefore:

sudo (do as root user, or Super User DO)
chmod (set permissions)
-R (recursively, ie look in all subfolders)
ugo=rwx (give User, Group & Other permission to Read, Write & Delete)

You then drag your Contents folder and the command is complete.

oh and one last thing

note however that you will not be able to play the normal Civ4, but just the Warlords version.

i've had so much problems with this, god. its driving me absolutely insane. i wish someone could just do it for me or there was an easier way to do it. first i mount and install CIV IV, then i mount and install the cracks, then i install and mount warlords, then i install and mount the crack for warlord. i did the whole 3 step thing ethien posted but god help me it just won't work!!!

i did that all and this is what it came up with:

Error

/Civilization IV/Warlords/Civilization IV Warlords.app/Contents/MacOS
/Civilization IV/Warlords/Civilization IV Warlords.app/Contents/MacOS/Civilization IV Warlords

please help!

14.Posted by patrickdphoto on Feb 07 2008 at 01:37

okay i'm about to rip out all my hair. i re-did the whole process, now the error is down to one thing:

Applications/Civilization IV/Warlords/Civilization IV Warlords.app/Contents/MacOS

i get info on that, i change it to read and write but still, no dice!! someone help please

15.Posted by kimouette on Feb 09 2008 at 13:39

I installed the whole thing on my computer and it works perfectly!!

Here is the EXACT way I did it (I know the procedure seems complicated, but remember that I put A LOT of details here, and normally, by following everything I say, it can only work).

1 - Using the application Toast, mount the "CIV IV.cdr" file : in Toast, chose the "Copy" thumbnail and drag the "CIV IV.cdr" file into the main window. Then, select "Mount". A disk image will appear on your deasktop (just as if you had inserted a CD in your computer)

Use that mounted disk image to install the application simply by double-clicking on the image (which will open a new window) and dragging the "Civilization IV" folder in your Application folder. Once that is done, eject the image file and close Toast.

16.Posted by kimouette on Feb 09 2008 at 13:39

2 - Double Click on CIV updates.zip. (a folder containing 2 update subfolders will appear):

- Starting with "Update 1" : First click on "Installer Civilization IV", let it complete its process, and close that window.
Then, double-click on "Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack.dmg", and double-click on the Civilization logo. That will run a patch for which all you have to do, is to select the application "Civilization IV" that we have previously installed to your application folder.

****A window will pop up asking you to accept to change certain permissions (only related to the Civ aplication) accept and the patch will be installed perfectly. ****

- Continue with "Update 2" : First click on "Civilization_IV_1-2.61.dmg", let it complete its process, and close that window.
Then, double-click on "Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack.dmg", do exactly what we did for the previous patch.

17.Posted by kimouette on Feb 09 2008 at 13:40

3 - Double-click on "Civilization IV Warlords.dmg", it will open a new window from which all you have to do is to double click on "Installer Civilization IV Warlords", follow the simple instructions, and once complete, eject that window.

4 - Finally, double-click on "Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg", it will open a new window. Double-click on the "Civilization IV Warlords" logo. Again, this is a patch, so you know what to do. BUT THIS TIME, instead of selecting the the "Civilization IV" application, chose the alias that appears right under this appplication, which is "Civilization IV Warlords". That way, you will apply the patch to the latest version we have installed.

Now go to your application folders and double click on "Civilization IV Warlords" and Enjoy!
THATS IT!

(SEE PREVIOUS TWO MESSAGES TO GET THE WHOLE PROCEDURE!!)

18.Posted by Iluvator on Feb 09 2008 at 19:39

As near as I can tell, kimouette's instructions will not work on Leopard. Ethien's step, however, I can confirm do work.

19.Posted by Sand1755 on Feb 11 2008 at 02:40

Ok, I'm running with 10.3.9 and when I try to do any of the patching, it says "You can't apply the Patch on this File !". I looked over at TPB and tried some of their ideas with no success (and saw another 10.3 person with the same problem). Is this probably an unsolvable 10.3 issue?

20.Posted by ethien on Feb 11 2008 at 20:26

upgrade to Tiger or Leopard?

@ patrickdphoto
I can only assume you are not changing the permissions correctly in root (ie in the Terminal, not through the Info window).

21.Posted by natawate on Feb 21 2008 at 12:56

sorry guys i have to say this. I have no idea how to install the whole thing.

it would be nice if someone help. thanks alot

natawate,

Just read previous posts 15, 16 and 17

23.Posted by natawate on Feb 28 2008 at 03:53

how do u mount the stuffs? :? sorry im asking stupid questions.

for let say mount the "CIV IV.cdr" file. do u guys have any screenshots to assist me further?

thanks.

24.Posted by kimouette on Feb 29 2008 at 12:09

Natawate,

If you have the application Toast, the procedure (in post number 15) starts by explaining how to mount the image. Here is a copy of what I already wrote in that post :

"In Toast, chose the "Copy" thumbnail and drag the "CIV IV.cdr" file into the main window. Then, select "Mount". A disk image will appear on your desktop (just as if you had inserted a CD in your computer)"

And of course, you have to keep on reading the rest of the procedure (so from post 15 to 17), otherwise, I'm affraid you'll have 534534 questions to ask!

:)

25.Posted by natawate on Mar 01 2008 at 23:33

okay im back with one last question. ive done everything n now when i click the civ 4 warlords nth happen. i even changed e permissions for ipatcher. am i doing this right? some help would be nice. thanks :)

26.Posted by kimouette on Mar 02 2008 at 07:34

Right now, the only thing I can suggest, is to make sure you followed the instruction #4 correctly :

"4 - Finally, double-click on "Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg", it will open a new window. Double-click on the "Civilization IV Warlords" logo. Again, this is a patch, so you know what to do. BUT THIS TIME, instead of selecting the the "Civilization IV" application, chose the alias that appears right under this appplication, which is "Civilization IV Warlords". That way, you will apply the patch to the latest version we have installed."

If you went through the ENTIRE procedure without having ANY problem, then tell me if you are running Mac os 10.4 or 10.5 ...

Kim

sorry people. now i have this problem which is driving me crazy. i cant seem to find the Civilization IV Warlords. not the crack one. i tried reinstalling the whole thing again but the file seems missing. plus the warlords folder. its missing too. help thanks

28.Posted by natawate on Mar 02 2008 at 19:42

still no 'Civilization IV Warlords' :'(

29.Posted by kimouette on Mar 02 2008 at 20:06

If you installed the applications correctly, here is where you should find the application :

"Application" folder / "Civilization IV" folder / "Civilization IV Warlords" allias (just have to click on that allias to open the game)

30.Posted by kimouette on Mar 02 2008 at 20:09

Oh and one more thing... are you running Mac Os 10.4 ou 10.5 ?

31.Posted by natawate on Mar 03 2008 at 10:10

im running on Mac OS 10.5.2

and guess wat i still cant find the warlords thingy. it was there during my first few attempts of installing the game but now it seems to be gone after i tried over n over again. might there be an error or sth?

plus i wanna ask, if i opened terminal and typed sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx and didnt copy paste my contents folder will anything happen? and must i open the one in e folder or just from the utilities?

32.Posted by kimouette on Mar 03 2008 at 16:07

Hi again Natawate,

I have to admit that since I have installed the whole thing under Mac Os 10.4 and had absolutely no problem installing it, I cant really figure out why it's not working on your side.

I would suggest you to take a look at posts 6,7 and 8. Ehtien gives a detailed procedure for people running Mac Os 10.5

Otherwise, if anybody here working with Leopard finally got to install this game please help Natawate a little!

Kim

33.Posted by natawate on Mar 03 2008 at 17:58

hi kim,

thanks for trying to help me. appreciate it alot.

ill just explain my problems here n wait for a solution i guess.

-firstly i installed 'CIV_iv.cdr' and the 'Civilization IV' will appear. So i coped the whole thing into my app.

-then installed the updates followed by the 'Civilization IV Warlords.dmg' and the 'Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg' but somehow the Civilization IV Warlords doesnt appear in my app>>civilization IV. Theres no warlord folder what so ever.

-i did the permissions by opening up terminal and typed what ever i read frm e posts by ethien.

so may i ask what exactly might be the problem?

34.Posted by natawate on Mar 04 2008 at 18:22

'You can't open this application "Civilization IV Warlords" because it is not supported on this architecture".

Anyone having the same problem? :?

50.Posted by kimouette on Mar 26 2008 at 08:43

One question for you guys who are getting error messages while applying the patch :

On which of the three patches do you get these messages?

If you go back to my posts, you will notice that there's a small difference for the last patch. Here is a paste of what I mean (the difference starts at "BUT THIS TIME";) :

Double-click on "Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg", it will open a new window.

51.Posted by MOKMAC on Mar 26 2008 at 11:37

I am not even getting at the warlords crack, i get stuck at the first crack for update 1, been trying to get this game working for a long time now, maybe time to give up

52.Posted by kimouette on Mar 26 2008 at 14:01

MOKMAC , you mean you get the error messages as soon as you double-click on "Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack.dmg" and select the application "Civilization IV" ?

Are you running Mac Os 10.4 ou 10.5 ?

53.Posted by tomartin on Mar 27 2008 at 02:15

:(
This is pi$$ing me off. I tried both methods, but run into different issues with both.
I'm running 10.5.2
With ethien:
I get everything installed, but can't replace the old ipatch file with the new one on the crack

With Kim, I can't even get even get the Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack.dmg open, it just shuts down automatically.

Suggestions?

54.Posted by MOKMAC on Mar 27 2008 at 09:37

Kimouette, with update one works, but the crack for update one fails, i get the question if i want to change the premission and shortly after that it fails...
I am running on 10.5.2

@tomartin: you have to drage the crack out of the mounted screen so that it can be changed, like ethien said, for instance to your desktop

55.Posted by kimouette on Mar 27 2008 at 16:08

(post 1 of 4)

This is just terrible! Someone will have to pay me before I update from 10.4 to Leopard! There is just too much security in this new environment (which is definately not a good thing for people like us!)

Ok so to TRY to help you guys, I read all the posts here and also in other torrent's sites and just compiled all the corrections so you can get the best possible procedure.

Since you did read Ethien's method, and still cant complete the installation let me take a guess... Your permissions are still blocked! Thanks again to Leopard!
Try this ....

56.Posted by kimouette on Mar 27 2008 at 16:08

(post 2 of 4)

Like I already mentioned :
1 - Using the application Toast, mount the "CIV IV.cdr" file : in Toast, chose the "Copy" thumbnail and drag the "CIV IV.cdr" file into the main window. Then, select "Mount". A disk image will appear on your deasktop (just as if you had inserted a CD in your computer)??Use that mounted disk image to install the application simply by double-clicking on the image (which will open a new window) and dragging the "Civilization IV" folder in your Application folder. Once that is done, eject the image file and close Toast.
2 - Double Click on CIV updates.zip. (a folder containing 2 update subfolders will appear)
THEN instead of following the procedure I wrote for Mac os 10.4, apply Ethien's method (corrections made here) :

57.Posted by kimouette on Mar 27 2008 at 16:08

(post 3 of 4)

1. Right-click on the Civ4 (or Civ4 Warlords) executable, select "Show Package Content", you see a "Contents" folder?2. Open Terminal?3. type (without inverted commas): 'sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx ' (note the space after rwx) and then drag the "Contents" folder to the Terminal window.?4. Press Enter and the Terminal asks you for your admin password.?5. If you don't get any error message, run the crack.
**Make sure you are changing the permissions correctly in root (ie in the Terminal, not through the Info window).**

58.Posted by kimouette on Mar 27 2008 at 16:09

(post 4 of 4)

BUT NOW, if you do get an error message, do this :

Go to your application folder, open "Civilization IV" folder, select the "Civilization IV" application, right click on it, chose "show package content". In the window that opens click on the pad lock on the very bottom right corner, enter password, then change all privilege to "read & write". then click pad lock again.

Then try again Ethien's method by repeating steps 1 to 5 and tell me if you get any error message again

*** This procedure starts at post 55***

59.Posted by MOKMAC on Mar 27 2008 at 20:08

Same msg when i try to apply the crack on update 1
to bad :r

60.Posted by tomartin on Mar 28 2008 at 03:33

Yea Kim, it wasn't working for me. Here is what I did.
Mounted CivIV.cdr, threw it in my apps folder
Opened package contents for update 1 installer, ran civiv.pkg, and installed
Mounted warlords, installed that.
Installed update 2 installer
Civ IV and Warlords are installed, no problem

61.Posted by tomartin on Mar 28 2008 at 03:40

HOWEVER, now I get to the cracks.
I throw Contents folder into Terminal after typing that code, and nothing happens, I get:
chmod: /Volumes/Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack/Civilization IV 1.61 NoCPU & NoDVD.app/Contents: Read-only file system
chmod: /Volumes/Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack/Civilization IV 1.61 NoCPU & NoDVD.app/Contents/Info.plist: Read-only file system
chmod: /Volumes/Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack/Civilization IV 1.61 NoCPU & NoDVD.app/Contents/MacOS: Read-only file system
chmod: /Volumes/Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack/Civilization IV 1.61 NoCPU & NoDVD.app/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher: Read-only file system
etc.
Tried doing the terminal thing with the Civ 4 app, and got nothing. What am I doing wrong?

62.Posted by kimouette on Mar 28 2008 at 06:27

Ok Tomartin, the error message you're getting confirms that you are trying to unlock a volume ( in other words, something you dont own! )
You have to go back to posts 6 and 7.

Damn it ! I clearly should have included these two posts to my last "not that perfectly compiled" procedure!

:(
Ahh and I just realised I wrote something wrong! Here I'll just correct it, so instead of post 58, here is what should should have read...

63.Posted by kimouette on Mar 28 2008 at 06:39

First make sure you are logged in as an administrator, and since the system seems to block you for everything related to "Content", try this :

I AM CORRECTING MY MISTAKE HERE!!
Go to your application folder, open "Civilization IV" folder, select the "Civilization IV" application, right click, "show package content". In the window that opens, right-click on the folder "Contents", and select "Get Info". Now click on the pad lock on the very bottom right corner, enter password, then change ALL privilege to "read & write" (you, the owner, and groups).

MOKMAC, if you do this, and go back to the patch, do you get the exact SAME error message ?

64.Posted by MOKMAC on Mar 28 2008 at 09:11

Yes, i am quite sure i did everything correct,i am already administrator on my mac, got all the privileges to change whatever i would like to.

so thats not my problem, i get an error when applying the first crack, so this wont work for me...

65.Posted by MOKMAC on Mar 28 2008 at 20:30

Whoeya! Found out what was going wrong!!

I had to set the premission manually to al the files of the error msg!
I think the automatic terminal thing isnt going like it should. So after update 1 you have to put the premission on read and write to all users. You have to do this with these files >>

Okay guys, you're talking about 2 different things there.
Kim, I already DID post 6 and 7, but it won't let me update the ipatch file, keeps telling me "Mac OS cannot be modified"
I then changed the permissions of the Civ IV folder, and Civ IV app and Warlords app.
Then I mounted the Civ IV crack, tried to run it, and nothing happened.
I then opened package contents to try and change permissions of the CRACK, but again, got nothing, it won't let me "change ownership of this volume"

68.Posted by tomartin on Mar 29 2008 at 04:20

MAC,I went ahead and did all what you said, but the crack still isn't working for me, and still won't let me access the permissions of the crack.
SO CLOSE YET SO FAR

69.Posted by kimouette on Mar 29 2008 at 06:32

tomartin

Are you sure you did'nt skip the part in post 7 where it says "2. Mount the crack image and copy the crack executable to your mac (desktop for instance) so it can be modified" ?
If you cant replacer ipatcher (step 4 in post 7) I doubt you'll be able to get any further.
Make sure you are logged in as the administrator of your computer!

And what do you mean exactly when you say : "I then opened package contents to try and change permissions of the CRACK, but again, got nothing, it won't let me "change ownership of this volume"

What message are you receiving ?

70.Posted by crazylegs87 on Mar 29 2008 at 17:31

hmmm, I am still stuck on the "please insert original disc" problem. Toast won't mount the file for me, the only way I can mount it is through the finder.

If I drag it into the copy tab of toast and click mount, toast thinks for a second and then does nothing. any help?

71.Posted by crazylegs87 on Mar 30 2008 at 11:25

I got it to mount through Toast by updating my version of toast, but even when mounted that way, it still says "please insert original disc."

72.Posted by tomartin on Mar 31 2008 at 04:36

ALRIGHT! I GOT IT WORKING! YAY! Now I just have to figure out how everything works, since I don't see a tutorial or anything...

73.Posted by kimouette on Mar 31 2008 at 07:01

crazylegs87, I believe you're trying to run the game directly from the mounted disk, this is not the way to install the game!

If you're using Mac Os 10.4, just go back to posts 15, 16 and 17 and follow these instruction word by word!

If you're using Mac Os 10.5, you better wait for tomartin's instructions...

Hi all.

I`m new in the MAC world, and only thing i know is that i have the MAC OS Leopard. I've installed many things but this game is making me crazy. I`ve tried the 6, 7 and 8, by ethien, but only maded de post 6... The steps in post 7 doesn't make sense, cause after locate the "Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" executable (212 KB) (from the post 6, step 4), and execute it, the terminator opens, shows alot of fool information and nothing happens.

Please, someone could help me???

(and sorry if there are some errors, i`m brasilian and can`t write well in english, hehe)

75.Posted by afonso3d on Apr 01 2008 at 06:50

AAAAAAAAAH!

I did it!

Well... to Leopard user:

Follow the steps in intructios.rtf and after that, follow the posts 6, 7 and 8. Dont forget to run all the updates.

In the post 7, only the Warlord crack will work.

After the steps on post 8, try to understand that u have to find, after run the crack, the executable. Just it!

:)

(for dummies, like me, hehehe)

This download probably works fine, but I'd suggest not downloading it, and downloading Civilization 3 Complete instead.
Civilization IV looks nicer, but Civilization 3 was a better game.

If you are working with Mac Os 10.5 (Leopard) here is a from someone here who finally installed the game :

First, just follow the steps in "intruction.rtf"

Then, follow the posts 6, 7 and 8. Dont forget to run all the updates.

In post 7, only the Warlord crack will work.

In post 8, (step 3), a correction has to be made... what you gave to type is: sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx

If you are working with Mac Os 10.4 simply follow posts 15, 16 and 17

82.Posted by theonecabby on Apr 20 2008 at 19:22

I have completed all of the steps and when I try to run any of the cracks it says it cannot be run in this architecture. Where have I gone wrong?

Thanks.

83.Posted by kimouette on Apr 20 2008 at 20:46

theonecabby,

Natawate (post 34), was telling us she was getting the exact same message.

Unfortunately she doesn't clearly explain how she managed to install the game, but here is the last post she wrote (maybe it will help you) :

"Since ethien says that only the warlords version can be played on leopard. i advise u to just apply patch on the warlords crack. make sure uve done all the permissions thingy."

84.Posted by Aedan on Apr 25 2008 at 12:11

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I too, seem to be having a problem getting this to run properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is a short run-down of what my issue is:

I've installed Civ IV, and un-packed the "Updates" folder, yet when I attempt to use the first crack (Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack) from folder "updates 1" on the actual installed Civ IV icon (within my applications folder), I continually get the error message, "Can't apply crack on this file !"

Now, again, everything seems to be installing properly, and without hick-ups, but the crack itself isn't co-operating. All permissions seem to be set to "Read & Write", as well.

I'm running OSX v.10.4.1

Thanks so much for the help!

85.Posted by kimouette on Apr 26 2008 at 08:30

Hi Aedan,

1. First, make sure you are logged in as the administrator of your computer
2. Then, make sure the entire content of your CIV folder is not "locked" :

Right-click and "Get Info" on the Civilization IV directory (which should be in your application folder). Open the bottom tab (Ownership & Permissions). If necessary, click the lock icon in front of "Details" and change the Privilege entry for each group (You, owner, group and others) to "Read & Write". If prompted, enter the name and password of the administrator user of your computer.

REALLY IMPORTANT before closing this window, click "Apply to enclosed items"

This should resolve any permissions issues.

After that try again to run the patch and dont forget to choose the right application (in your case, for the first patch in "Update 1" you should "link the patch to" Application/Civilization IV folder/Civilization IV logo

86.Posted by Aedan on Apr 28 2008 at 22:26

After un-installing, and then re-installing - following your step-by-step guide to be sure - making sure that ALL permissions are set to READ & WRITE (in both the pre-installed, and installed Civilization IV folders), multiple times, I still am getting the error message:

"Can't apply crack on this file !"

... when I try to apply the first crack (Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack).
I open the file, click on the "select Civilization IV_app" button, and then browse to my APPLICATIONS directory, where I then select "Civilization IV.app" from the newly installed "Civ IV" folder.

87.Posted by Aedan on Apr 28 2008 at 22:27

It thinks for about 15 seconds, and then gives me that error message. To be sure, I have double-checked my permissions, and all are set to READ & WRITE - admin through guests.

Again, the game seems to be installing fine. The first update is installing fine ("Civilization IV Installer" - "Update 1" - "Civ IV updates";), but I cannot seem to get past that.

Any ideas?

And thanks so much for the help, kimouette. Much appreciated, my friend!

88.Posted by kimouette on Apr 29 2008 at 14:35

Hi again Aedan,

Before giving up, maybe you should try the technique proposed by Mokmac : changing the permission manually within the hidden content folder of the Civilization app.

To reach this file, you need to follow this path :
/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV (the application)
Right click on the Civ application
Select "Show package content"
And do the permission procedure with the folder "Contents"

Again, once you've changed all the permissions, dont forget to click on "Apply to enclosed items" before closing the window and try the patch again!

89.Posted by Aedan on Apr 29 2008 at 20:47

Ok, I did the permissions procedure again on all files - hidden and visible - after re-installing. However, I am getting the same error message:

"Can't apply crack on this file !"

I am almost 100% sure that this is, in fact, the correct file (The Civ IV logo - "Civ IV.app";), just because this is the only file that it "thinks" on for more than a half-second. However, as soon as a progress bar appears within the crack window, I then get the error message. I can't even get as far as the message asking if it can edit the selected file...

I have set all files to READ & WRITE - both hidden and visible.

I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!

91.Posted by kimouette on May 01 2008 at 11:31

Hi again Aedan,

I found other people (in different forums) having the exact same error message.

Some of them claim that it worked by manually changing permission for almost each damn file located in the hidden "Contents" folder (see next message to get a copy of that manual procedure). To me, that seems weird cuz normally by clicking "Apply to enclosed items" it should do the EXACT same thing! But I dont know, maybe you should give it a try.

Other people are saying that skipping the problem by simply following the rest of the procedure allows them to play with the Warlord version. In other words, they did'nt get that "Can't apply crack on this file !" error message when applying the other patches.

I dont know if one of these alternatives will work. But just thought you might wanna try these!

Good Luck!

Kim

See previous message before reading this one!

a) Right click "Civilization IV.app" and choose 'Show Package Contents'

b) Locate /Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Info.plist

c) Open info and change permission to "read and write" for all

d) Repeat step 4c for all the below listed files

/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/MacOS/Civilization IV
/Civilization IV

/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ASLCore.strings

/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/InfoPlist.strings

UPDATE:
Ok, I un-installed the game again and attempted a re-install on the off-chance that it'd work. As I was getting ready to install, I remembered that I had the Civ IV demo installed from long ago.

Long story short, I un-installed that, then re-installed the full ver. - and volia! It's now applying the cracks properly. My best guess, is that the crack was somehow crossing some of the resources from the demo (which were not touched - as far as permissions go). Hence, the error, "Can't apply crack on this file !".

94.Posted by Aedan on May 01 2008 at 19:38

However, I now must ask this question:

Warlords is working great! But, the original Civ IV is not. I continually get the error message:

"Please insert original game disc."

Which leads me to believe that the cracks for Civ IV are not working.

Any suggestions?

ALSO: A HUGE thank you to kimouette - you are a life-saver, my friend!

95.Posted by kimouette on May 02 2008 at 09:56

Hey Aedan,

If you already tried what I'm about to tell you, then there's really nothing I can do to help!

So Last chance ....

Make sure you're not trying to run the game directly from the mounted disk, but from the image created by Toast.

So, mount "CIV IV.cdr" with Toast and close Toast : the image should appear on your desktop. Double-click on the image (which will open a new window) and drag the "Civilization IV" folder in your Application folder, and follow the rest of the procedure in post 16.

If that's exactly what you already did, try to leave the image on your desktop while launching the game instead of immediately eject it.

If this doesn't work, then I'm affraid you'll have to play with Warlords and forget about Civ IV ! Unless a generous soul here had the same problem and solved it!

Good luck!

Kim

How can i install it without toast?

Thanks

i'm runnin mac os x leopard 10.5.2 so i've done the installation accordingly. still i get the error message 'can't apply patch to this file' with the crack 'civilization iv nodvd & nocpu' and i DON'T have any demos installed. everything else goes just fine. what is the problem?

99.Posted by Majuri on May 04 2008 at 17:49

a little update:

so, i installed the game and the updates and cracks with the ethien way, because i'm running leopard. the only error message i get BEFORE trying to start either one of the game versions, is the 'can't apply the patch to this file' with the crack 'civilization iv nodvd & nocpu'. both of the other patches work fine. this is as of yet an unsolved problem, so i turn to you guys.

THEN, when i try to start either one of the game versions, they suddenly start and i get the aspyr greeting and suggestion to register. i click 'skip' and this message comes up with civ iv:

fatal error

failed initializing python

and these messages come up with warlords:

xml load error

failed loading xml file xml/gaminfo/civ4playeroptioninfos.xml

xml load error

loadxml call failed for gameinfo/civ4playeroptioninfos.xml

current xml file is:

what should i do to solve these problems?

100.Posted by Majuri on May 04 2008 at 18:37

one more question:

what is the civ iv installer for in the update 1 folder, when the game installs with the drag-n-drop in civ_iv.cdr? isn' the .dmg's in the update folders the ones that contain the actual patches and cracks?

101.Posted by Majuri on May 04 2008 at 19:01

update:

all the patches and cracks work, all the permissions are correct, installations have been done in correct order and following instructions

this time, when i try to launch civ iv it asks for the original dvd

the error messages are the same when i try to launch warlords

103.Posted by SeijiBrazil on May 05 2008 at 02:03

Hello, I'm running at OS 10.5.2 and finally made it! :D

1- install the game (I didn't use the Toast, just double-clicked on archive "civ_iv.cvr";)
2- install the first update ("Civilization IV Installer.app"at folder "Update 1";)
3- install the Crack "Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack" in the Civ iV folder that u installed the game
4- Open the Terminal and run "sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx path_to_your_civ_folder"
5- Before running the crack, u need to replace de iPatcher archive with the new iPatcher (see my next post)
6- Run the crack and enjoy the game!

Do the same thing for the updade 2 and warlord ;)

104.Posted by SeijiBrazil on May 05 2008 at 02:13

Replacing the ipatcher archive:
First, get the newer ipatcher version (u can get at www.ipatch.org).

1- open the Crack "Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" (u ll see the iPatcher archive)
2- open the iPatcher "Contents/Resources/iPatcher" and look for ipatcher.app. open "Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" of ipatcher.app, u ll find a iPatcher archive.
3- drag the iPatcher (of ipatcher.app) to the iPatcher of the crack to replace it.
4- now the crack ll run at OS 10.5.2, at least. The SHA1 error now ll be avoid :)

It is kind of hard to me to explain, my english sux n im a mac-newbie... =/

105.Posted by SeijiBrazil on May 05 2008 at 02:35

aaah, sorry. when i installed Warlord, civ iv stoped to work... ****.

106.Posted by SeijiBrazil on May 05 2008 at 16:20

if you run the crack for the update 2 again, after installing warlord, u can play civ iv normally! :) i spent 6 hours in a roll playing yesterday... hehehe

107.Posted by Majuri on May 05 2008 at 21:02

same error messages no matter what i try. if something in the middle goes wrong, i get the 'can't apply patch to this file' and civ iv askes for original disk and the warlords error messages stay the same. if everything goes as described here, the civ iv complains about the python and the warlords gove me the same error messages again...haven't tried the toast approach, but it seems that that works only with os older than my 10.5.2 leopard. i tried the ethien way and the seijibrazil way, neither works for me...i'm gettin sick of trying, i'll buy the god damn game and beat up a squirrel for the pain of losing *****...

108.Posted by Majuri on May 05 2008 at 21:04

109.Posted by kimouette on May 06 2008 at 15:06

Dont do that, use someone in your family instead.

Ok I know I installed to whole thing easily probably because I'm running Mac Os 10.4, but Majuri, may I suggest you read the post written by :

"Andyr005 at 2008-04-20 21:05"

it's right here :

http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3872926/Civilization_IV_for_MAC__universal

And if it doesn't work, keep on reading the advises on this forum it's basically the same torrent and a lot of Tiger users finally managed to install the game.

So give it a try and good luck!

Dont forget to leave the squirrel alone it's the Tiger's fault (and good luck for beatting him up!

And by Tiger you mean Leopard?

Zemran at 2008-04-08 07:56 CET:
Installed game and both updates and crack. When i now start the game I get the following error:
Failed Initializing Python
Does anyone know how to solve this probem

This is normally caused by using a case sensitive file system. Most games are just ports of the Windows version and fall over on a decent file system. The game makes a call to Python but does not get the case right in the call, in windows there is no problem but if you have formatted your file system in the case sensitive version the call cannot be recognised.

There is an error with Warlords where it cannot get the XML file for the same reason. The only anser is to re-install Leopard with the standard file system.
--------

How do i re-install Leopard with the standard file system? I'm a mac newbie too...

111.Posted by kimouette on May 06 2008 at 23:19

Majuri,

First of all, yes, I meant Leopard! Tigers are innocent! :)

No matter what you are about to try, here's a tip : YOU MUST UNINSTALL CIVILIZATION COMPLETELY before attempting ANYTHING.

I read on different forums that this specific error can occur with a lot of different games (even with original, 100% legal games) and miraculously uninstalling and reinstalling them works in 50% of the cases.

Otherwise, even though this post is not about the exact same version of Civilization, you might wanna read this :

http://forum.mininova.org/index.php?s=f08db8d70a718de72fbcabf8a14ba2b6&showtopic=234997975&st=0&p=289429&#entry289429

I have no idea if this solution can be applied to Warlords... just thought it might help.

If you are really motivated and have a lot of time to spare, go ahead and backup everything on your computer and reinstall Leopard... but personally I would install Tiger ;)

Confirmed & tested method for getting it going on Leopard with both Civ IV and Warlords updated & patched:

Mount Civ IV Image, copy folder to HDD
Install second 1.61 update (can't see any reason for the first one, is there a need!?)
Install Warlords
Run terminal & enter: sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx [CIV IV Folder]

Replace /Contents/MacOS/iPatcher in the 1.61 and Warlords cracks with the
/Contents/Resources/iPatcher/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher from the current iPatch application from www.ipatch.org

Run second 1.61 crack
Run Warlords crack

Play either game as you wish.

I'm on 10.5.2 and this seems to be working fine.

agarciacacho,

Are you running Mac Os 10.4 or 10.5 ?

And in the meantime, you could try mounting the game's image with Toast. If you do that, you should'nt get that message if the game is mounted on your desktop.
But that message shows that there's been a problem during the installation process. You should'nt get that error.

So.. 10.4 or 10.5 ??

115.Posted by agarciacacho on Jun 04 2008 at 22:22

Sorry, guys, can I ask you one question? When I right in TErminal path to my Civ IV direcory like [System / Civil] it says that there is no such directory. Can you tell me, what is the right name of path, if game folder named "Civil" is on the system disk named Macintosh HD?

120.Posted by kimouette on Jun 09 2008 at 07:09

Hi Kinrud,

I'm not sure to understand all the question you asked, but here's what I can answer :

You're supposed to use the terminal only when Civ IV and Warlords have been installed. And yes, you have to install the whole thing to your HDD (your Macintosh HD).

If you're running Mac os 10.5 follow the following procedure LINE BY LINE (and there you will find the only terminal command you're supposed to use):

"
Mount Civ IV Image, copy folder to HDD (Macintosh HD)
Install second 1.61 update
Install Warlords
Run terminal & enter: sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx [CIV IV Folder]

Replace "/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" in the 1.61 and Warlords cracks with the
"/Contents/Resources/iPatcher/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" from the current iPatch application from www.ipatch.org

Run second 1.61 crack
Run Warlords crack

Play either game as you wish.

I'm on 10.5.2 and this seems to be working fine.
"

If you're running Mac Os 10.4 it's a complete different procedure, follow posts 15, 16 and 17

Your explination up to the RUN TERMINAL part was great. I have no idea how to break down these files, but it really comes down to me being absolutely new to a mac. Please, if you could, help a long time contributor and new mac user understand what I must do. The line that you wrote:

Replace "/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" in the 1.61 and Warlords cracks with the
"/Contents/Resources/iPatcher/Contents/MacOS/iPatcher" from the current iPatch application from www.ipatch.org

I am having trouble getting it. I have Ipatch, but I am lost to that point. God how different the architecture of a mac and pc are.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Answer to wafflest0mp (message 1 of 3 )

Ok well I'll try to help but you have to know that I didnt install the game that way. Since I have Mac Os 10.4, the procedure was completely different.

But from what I understand, this is what you should do :

After you completed the 4 first steps (so AFTER the Terminal step)...

- Go to www.ipatch.org
- Download the file there : you will get a .dmg file (this is an image file)
- Double click on that file (called "iPatch3.7.1.dmg";)
-It opens a new window : take the "stamp icon" and by simply doing a drag and drop, put it on your desktop
-Right click on that ipatch icon and select "Show Package Content"
-Click on Contents, then Resources. From there, right-click on iPatcher, select "Show Package Content"
-From that new window, click on Contents, then on MacOS and there you will find "iPatcher" (which is what we are looking for!)
- Drag that file on your desktop

123.Posted by kimouette on Jun 10 2008 at 12:10

Answer to wafflest0mp (message 2 of 3 )

Now back to the cracks....

- Double click on the crack called "Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack.dmg" : it opens a new window
- Drag and drop the crack (which is the icon) on your desktop
- Rick click on that crack and select "Show Package Content"
- Now go to Contents, then MacOS to finaly get to the ipatcher file we want to replace
- Keep that window open and go back to your desktop where we left the latest version of ipatcher
- Right click on it, select "Copy ipatcher"
- Go back to the window we left open, right click somewhere in it and select "Paste" (a window sayying that the file already exists will show up, that's fine, just click on "REPLACE"

124.Posted by kimouette on Jun 10 2008 at 12:10

Answer to wafflest0mp (message 3 of 3 )

and same procedure for the other crack ...

- Double click on the crack called"Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg" : it opens a new window

Now that your cracks have been updated, you can get rid of the original ipatcher we left on your desktop, and finally run the cracks! So simply double click on each crack!

If there's any error message or just any confusion feel free to ask your question!

I'm in 10.5.3

Hi all, i have tried several ways to install this wonderfull game. Though i am quiet sure i have done all necessary, the warlords.dmg just doesn't work. When i try to open it, i get an error message saying this copy can't be activated, there are no 'filesystem' to activate (sorry i am just very stupid and new with iMac. I use the iMac in Dutch language, so i tyried to translate the error

Is it somehow possible to just run the normal game?

Regards,
Jeroen

Hi jaruh,

So I guess you followed the procure in this order...

"Mount Civ IV Image, copy folder to HDD (Macintosh HD)
Install second 1.61 update
Install Warlords"

When you double-clicked on the Civ IV image file (which is the first step), were you able to access its content without getting any error message?

Or did you get that "there are no 'filesystem' to activate" message for both games?

If everything went fine until you tried to install Warlords, try deleting the Civ IV folder you have copied to your HDD, empty the trash, make sure you are logged as the administrator, reboot your computer and try again from the beginning.

129.Posted by jaruh on Jun 17 2008 at 11:39

Thanks Kimouette, ..... had no problems withs the Civ IV image file, first step, as this just went perfect and were able to access its content. The warlords.dmg file seems not to be working still... I'll try again from the beginning...

130.Posted by kimouette on Jun 19 2008 at 16:36

Hi Jaruh,

- Go to your "application" folder / "Utilities" folder

- Open the application called "Disk utility"

- Drag and drop the Warlord disk image into the left pannel of Disk utility

- Select it by simply clicking on it

- By default you should be under the tab "S.O.S", if not, click on it

- Click on "Verify disk" that figures on the bottom right of this window

- If there's any error, correct it by clicking on "Repair disk"

- If everything seems fine, make sure you have enough space on your disk to mount it!
And then, you could try to download the torrent again, from the beginning, to make sure that the error wasn't caused during the download

eldavuio,

Try doing what I suggested to Jaruh, but for the Civilization IV.dmg :

- Go to your "application" folder / "Utilities" folder

- Open the application called "Disk utility"

- Drag and drop the Civilization IV.dmg into the left pannel of Disk utility

- Select it by simply clicking on it

- By default you should be under the tab "S.O.S", if not, click on it

- Click on "Verify disk" that figures on the bottom right of this window

- If there's any error, correct it by clicking on "Repair disk"

- If everything seems fine, maybe you could try downloading the whole game from the torrent again, so from the beginning, to make sure that an error didn't occure during the download

134.Posted by n0n4m3azuma on Jun 20 2008 at 13:07

i have the following problem:
i made all the steps, then finally, i need to open the crack. i open it and then i try to drag the civ IV into the suggested place in the crack, but i can´t. it won´t stay there and i cant crack it... i have leopard 10.5.3

135.Posted by kimouette on Jun 21 2008 at 12:06

n0n4m3azuma,

Dont try to drop the application on the crack. Instead, use the button in the crack to reach the application where you have put it.

Hi,

I tried a lot lot of stuff posted here, but i can't get it to work. I'm running on Mac Os X 10.5.3 This is where I get stuck:

"2 - Double Click on CIV updates.zip. ...
Then, double-click on "Civ4.v1.61Beta[9022]UBCrack.dmg", and double-click on the Civilization logo. That will run a patch for which all you have to do, is to select the application "Civilization IV" that we have previously installed to your application folder. "

wpeelaer,

You are running Mac Os 10.5 but have tried following the procedure I wrote for Mac os 10.4.

Here is the procedure for Mac Os 10.5 users again :

"
Mount Civ IV Image, copy folder to HDD (to your Macintosh HD)
Install second 1.61 update
Install Warlords
Run terminal & enter: sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx [CIV IV Folder]

Then follow the posts 122, 123 and 124

Once you have run the second 1.61 crack and the Warlords crack, you are done!!

Play either game as you wish.
"

139.Posted by wpeelaer on Jun 22 2008 at 14:09

Hi kimouette,

thanks for putting out a hand!

I have troubles with entering the "sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx [/Civilization\ IV]" command. After mounting and installing everything, I opened the Civilization IV icon that I installed on my hard drive, by clicking, 'show package content'. Then I double click on "contents", after that on "Mac OS" and then I get to the Civilization IV terminal. I open it, and the computer says: "Please insert disk". I ignore that and I enter "sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx" followed by dragging the complete Civilization IV folder into the terminal. Then I press enter and nothing happens. When I close the window, it says "do you want to shut down all your active processes?". So I do :)

I probably did a couple of steps wrong here. The posts 122, 123 and 124 are not a problem. Those work fine (I guess, wasn't able to test them off course).

What must I do, to fix that first step?

Thanks

140.Posted by kimouette on Jun 22 2008 at 20:19

wpeelaer,

To install the game on your computer, you simply need to double click on Civilization_IV.dmg and drag the application (so the logo) into the application folder of your computer.
Now, to avoid any confusion here's a stepbystep procedure:

So AFTER you've drop the game into your application folder...

- Open the Civilization IV folder and right click on the game. Then select "Show Package Content"; you see a "Contents" folder, simply leave that window opened for the moment.

- Open the Terminal (it should be in your application folder, in the "Utilities" folder.

Once it is opened type the following command BUT WITHOUT the " "

"sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx " (note the space after rwx!)

Then drag the "Contents" folder we left behind into the Terminal window

- Press Enter and the Terminal asks you for your admin password.

And, after that you can follow the rest of the procedure.

141.Posted by wpeelaer on Jun 23 2008 at 00:46

Hi kimouette,

everything is clear now! Tanks a lot.

Now, the next problem :| . When I try to run the cracks, i get the message, that "it's not supported by this architecture". I also tried everything indicated by previously posted posts (I did not install the first update etc.).

Is this a dead end, or is there still a solution?

Tanks for all your efforts Kimouette!! :)

142.Posted by kimouette on Jun 23 2008 at 21:14

Hey wpeelaer,

When you say "When I try to run the cracks, i get the message, that "it's not supported by this architecture"

...

Can you tell me EXACTLY HOW you are trying to run it?

143.Posted by wpeelaer on Jun 25 2008 at 01:22

Hi kimouette,

i just simply click on the cracks' icons (after having changed the iPatch and stuff).

144.Posted by kimouette on Jun 25 2008 at 07:10

Hi wpeelaer,

Sorry to ask cuz I know you said you already followed the posts 122,123,124, but I just want to make sure....

The crack you are trying to run... is it the one you've modified the ipatch for? So the one that should currently appear on your desktop?
Or are you trying to run the crack from the original "Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack.dmg" file (which has NOT been updated)?

And do you get that "architechture error" for both cracks or just for one of the 2 games?

145.Posted by chian on Jun 28 2008 at 10:30

can any one post a serial?

146.Posted by kimouette on Jun 30 2008 at 08:10

Maybe there's something I dont understand...
But I've always thought that patches existed only for games and applications that CANT be cracked with a simple serial (or with a Keygen). A patch modifies the game's structure, a serial only registers the same.

So I guess, AND I HOPE, that no patch is created unecessarely while a simple serial could do the same job!!

And chian, I did a long research and no serial can be found for this game

OMG I need Help!!! This is so not like the PC, but still love my MAC.. I have a 10.5.3 mac book pro and I cant seem to do it correctly and/or the patches are not working. I keep installing, then follow steps on here, then uninstall to repeat process cause it does not work. During the terminal, I did the steps and after I entered password, it does not do anything but go to command prompt. Did I do it too many times when I kept installing and uninstalling?

148.Posted by ddrfire on Jun 30 2008 at 12:25

Also, after the ipatch I got the following as errors after the first update and tried using the crack in first update folder:

/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Info.plist
/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/MacOS/Civilization IV
/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/InfoPlist.strings
/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Resources/French.lproj/InfoPlist.strings
/Applications/Civilization IV/Civilization IV.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/InfoPlist.strings

hey i was wondering if only civ warlords was supposed to work? if so i am fine

152.Posted by kimouette on Jul 02 2008 at 07:08

padwon,

If you're a Mac Os 10.5 user and have combined the procedures from posts 138 and 140, you should be able to play both games.

If you're a Mac Os 10.4 user and have combined the procedures from posts 15,16,17, you should also be able to play both games.

So in any case, Warlords AND Civilization IV are both supposed to be working!

Hey kim, thanks for all the help. I have a complete step by step I would like to run by you. I have a new iMac with OS X 10.5.4. Wondering if it works? It has combined 138, which include 122, 123, and 124. Is this all i need to do??? I would post the step by step if you want to verify.

157.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 05:20

Mount Civ IV Image, copy folder to HDD (to your Macintosh HD)
Install second 1.61 update
Install Warlords
Run terminal & enter: sudo chmod -R ugo=rwx [CIV IV Folder] (Drag folder into terminal.)

158.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 05:20

Now back to the cracks....

- Double click on the crack called "Civ4.v1.61(9565)UBCrack.dmg" : it opens a new window
- Drag and drop the crack (which is the icon) on your desktop
- Rick click on that crack and select "Show Package Content"
- Now go to Contents, then MacOS to finaly get to the ipatcher file we want to replace
- Keep that window open and go back to your desktop where we left the latest version of ipatcher
- Right click on it, select "Copy ipatcher"
- Go back to the window we left open, right click somewhere in it and select "Paste" (a window saying that the file already exists will show up, that's fine, just click on "REPLACE"

159.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 05:21

and same procedure for the other crack ...

- Double click on the crack called"Civ4.Warlords.Crack.dmg" : it opens a new window

Now that your cracks have been updated, you can get rid of the original ipatcher we left on your desktop, and finally run the cracks! So simply double click on each crack!

160.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 05:22

What is the next step after this??? Where do I go to play the game??? Or am I missing another step?

161.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 05:25

Oh and one more thing... Where is it that Civ IV the game not Warlords gets installed??? Is there a need to? Or is this the first step... "Mount CIV IV image, copy folder to HDD"??

162.Posted by Neec0 on Jul 11 2008 at 07:33

Well guys it worked perfect for me. I finally got it downloaded and followed the steps above and i can play both games on my new iMac 10.5.4 no problem.

**Important to remember if you get the 'permissions error' to run the terminal again with the FULL CIV IV folder that will be in your HDD. Not the one on the menu in finder. Literally the one in the HDD.
Also make sure that is the one you move to your applications folder. Worked perfect.

Thanks all!

Here :

Scroll down the page a little, and click on "Download".
That will bring you to a new page where it says "Your download is initializing. Please wait 5 seconds!"

After 5 seconds that sentence will be replaced with :
"Your download is ready. Please click here to download the file."

so just click on it!

The bittorrent and download works great with the instructions from above. However, if we're going to play this online with human opponents, we're going to need an updated crack for the latest version. Any chance we might see that soon?
