I love getting my fix of Atlantis, Thanks matey :)

4.Posted by Ugg on Jan 19 2008 at 08:10

Thanks for seeding this...but why is the speed so slow????
I have a fast connection..lots of peers....and seeders....but the speed I get is not much more than 20k's :'(
Torrent speeds have been getting worse and worse...but this...this is stupid :(

5.Posted by HunterAnubis on Jan 19 2008 at 08:35

to 4
thats becose some ppl are greedy and limit upload speed or they shut down torent once they download it

6.Posted by Ugg on Jan 19 2008 at 08:48

Yes I am aware of this HunterAnubis...but the main seeders used to be responcable people with fast connections...this rule/concept seems to have gone out of the window and any lame arse with a dialup connection can now seed...or so it seems.....clients that limit should not be allowed...it is not liked in other forms of p2p...I dont limit....whats the point...it just slows down the whole process.... :|

7.Posted by refreshe on Jan 19 2008 at 09:12

stop complaining, your download will finish eventually. and speeds tend to fluctuate. it may be slow now, but it could very well speed up soon. just check that all your ports and stuff are correct on your end, and get over it. you can't make everyone play fair, that's life.

8.Posted by haggisandneepsuk on Jan 19 2008 at 09:35

Cheers mate. Love this show!

9.Posted by Ugg on Jan 19 2008 at 10:35

Refreshe....you think I am some kind of n00b?...as for getting over it...I think you are the one who needs to get over it...and yes you can make people play fair....stop the clients that can limit...put in a drop user feature if you find rule breakers...as for complaining..I can complain if I wish...but what I was geeting at was more an observation than a complaint...and that being that the speeds on torrents are getting slower and seeders are not seeding as long or as willingly as they used to...possibly because of the grab and run users....I stay untill I have seeded twice the size I have dl'd...anyway have a good day and enjoy SGA :+

10.Posted by picard25 on Jan 19 2008 at 10:37

To 7
Have you considered a lot of people may have a fixed down/upload limit and therefore need to reduce, just reduce, the speed of the upload so they can continue to enjoy BitTorrent.

11.Posted by ixalus on Jan 19 2008 at 10:46

If you don't have enough upload/download to seed, don't download in the first place. P2P is kept alive by people who give and take. People who take and don't give (whatever the reason may be) are killing the P2P community. At least make sure you have a ratio of 100% down/up on each file.

12.Posted by haggisandneepsuk on Jan 19 2008 at 10:49

Phil_1 from NZ... how can you download this?? I'm going to New Zealand in a couple of days, and was told yo all had monthly download limits of around 250MB! Not true then obviously... :)

13.Posted by -fallen-one- on Jan 19 2008 at 11:16

thanks for the upload ... goin a bit slow, but who am i to protest ... i'll watch it later today :) it's worth waiting!!

14.Posted by some_dude on Jan 19 2008 at 11:38

Hmm, that episode has enough plot holes to drive a truck through :\

15.Posted by maxi11 on Jan 19 2008 at 11:49

its me, the girl who likes to moan, :) i dont know much about download and upload and seeding etc, but i just tend to download one thing at a time in a series. seems to me if you download different versions at same time, trying to get faster, that your speed would slow down then too? i just find it easier if something i want desperatley, download that one thing and let all upload at same speed too, seems to go faster for me

16.Posted by ToWa on Jan 19 2008 at 11:50

Ugg, ever considered the fact that in some countries (like mine, Belgium) people have a limited monthly download? if i seed twice the amount i dl, then i'll be out of internet volume in 10 days... that's why i fix my ul on 20kb and shut down my µtorrent after 1 hour after i finished the download. that way i still seeded somewhat, but haven't completely burned out my monthly volume.

so stop your complaining, and consider some people have limits! don't blame the user, blame the providers! (if i had unlimited dl/ul i'd keep seeding every torrent i have..)

17.Posted by maxi11 on Jan 19 2008 at 12:14

thats true ToWa, those who get capped on speed bandwith things are not to blame, downloading and uploading is a community, so we should share, as this whole thing suggests, but dont worry, here in the uk providers are starting to limit bandwith at peak times in day and weekend now, so watch all us brits start to complain :)

18.Posted by Jerryduuh on Jan 19 2008 at 12:21

@ToWa! I live in Scandinavia where we have unlimited DL UL. But I have contacts in Belgium since many years. My sister lives there by the way. So I am well aware of your limitations. Much due this I tries to UL at a minimum 2+. My overall shareratio for last 7 months is 433 Gb DL and ULing 1450 Gb. Thereby trying to even out what others have limitations to do. But you are doin a good job .... despite the restrictions :)) Have a good one ! :) :) :)

21.Posted by Ugg on Jan 19 2008 at 14:35

I also only dl 1 thing at a time....and yes I am very aware that some countries cap your bandwidth...and the UK has done this for years....this is nothing new....and as yet nobody has done a thing about it....do you not realise your ISP is in breatch of contract...they do not provide the service offered by capping you...no instead you sit there and leech because if you should complain they will know you are doing things with your connection that you should not....never mind that you could actually be paying to itunes for a legal download (or simular service)...but my complaint is not with those who are capped...but with the amount who are now thinking it is ok to limit...and I have uploaded 1.72TB and downloaded 218.17GB :+

22.Posted by Jerryduuh on Jan 19 2008 at 14:51

@Ugg ...Ur right. But I'm a bit cautious with commenting about breach of contract, don't know details about them. Maybe they should complain. Had an incident toghether with a guy in the US, we shared privat videos. He'd been building some electr.-controlled mashines (sort of robots), and by some odd reason got blamed for illegal filesharing. He got cleared but point is, similar to ur point. Capping in fact may restrict freedom of information exchange, compare this with as people only where allowed to send a few letters throug ordinary mailservices. People wouldn't accept that. Comparison is a bit faulty but some1 else may come up with some better. :?

23.Posted by gceclifton on Jan 19 2008 at 15:03

I think you will find that a lot of people have others using the same internet connection, im forever being told by my brother to stop killing bandwidth, we both talk to people on webcam a lot and so NEED the upload speed for other things! I also will wait untill my torrents have been uploaded twice before killing them, even the ones that are rather slow to be shared like the ubuntu distribution cd....

A thing to remember also, with ADSL, the upload and download speeds are not the same... i have a download speed of 1024 and an upload speed of 256 if i remember correctly and that goes for a lot of people! A lot of providers are catering for those people who really only browse the web, they dont need the uber upload speeds to send page requests to sites!!

waffle over, i shall sit back, enjoying whatever speed it goes at and watch it when it is done :)

24.Posted by maxi11 on Jan 19 2008 at 15:50

if you check your contracts with your isps, they dont state you are guaranteed a set bandwith, they state you receive "up to", depending what you pay for. this allows them to enact limits at really busy times slowing your bandwith down. ie Virgin media, pay £30 package receive "up to" 2mb broabdband speed

25.Posted by neolady on Jan 19 2008 at 17:05

Thanks from UK - personally I don't care about the speed, just consider myself lucky to be able to get and watch the series at all - there are fans who are still waiting for Season 3 :| and fans who can't afford cable so have to wait for the series to come to terrestrial channels. And there are also those who, by virtue of the fact that they're on dialup because they can't afford broadband, are unable to get torrents like this, so stop complaining! Huge thanks to those who provide the torrents in the first place.

29.Posted by Willieck on Jan 20 2008 at 00:32

@ ufo8mycow, DSR rips are never the greatest in quality.

You should wait for the HR, or HDTV, or even the X264 files if you want quality.

As for the DL/UL speeds - mine is 500kB DL and 50kB UL under ideal conditions but the UL usually drops to 20-25kB...

35.Posted by __ITacHI__ on Jan 20 2008 at 16:03

After reading all of your comments I feel guilty...
I have always downloaded torrents with 500Kb/s+ and uploaded 60kb/s.
I have also always turned off my torrent program after the Dl was finished.
But after reading your posts I decided to change my upload speed to Unlimited and to seed atleast 200% after the DL is finished.

Btw 1 question: By how much % does your DL speed decrease if you set your UL speed to unlimited?

Thanx.

36.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 01:34

wytLyt says: How the world is full of egocentric (ánd or dumb) people!!................. :? :'(

And not only providers and big company's :r I reckon... ;)

How can you NOT SHARE AT LEAST TWICE (or once for those with really lousy connections) the time you've dl something??? I wonder!!... That's the backbone of this whole philosophy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I installed a torrent program my pc has NOT been off since that time, exept of cource for adm purposes, solely to spread the data I obtained, that I feel and know belongs to all!

37.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 01:36

Now I'm not dl all the time of course, but I am however ALWAYS UL!!!
Since my connection is payed by the month, have (thank God!) no restrictions (and paying for it too!!), I'm always ul in full speed, unless I need to web-browse or something, then I keep around 80kB or so for myself, wich still leaves about 170kB for Azereus. On an average I have about 15 torrents in ul, and divide the most speed to those torrents who have a low p2p sharing ratio and very few seeders (hard to come by stuff).

38.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 01:37

When I need to dl something I limit my ul-speed accordingly (can also use the auto-ul-limiter in Azereus, but not as sufficient), and adjust it so I have both the best ul- and dl-speed. You cannot limit your ul-speed to much, for your dl-speed will drop accordingly. When the average swarm-speed is around 30kB I sometimes manage to get up to 150kB more, solely cause my ul-speed is also around 200kB!! I increase the overall swarm-speed significantly, and accordingly get more dl-speed, as is only fair. When I want something in, I adjust the ul-speed for already seeding torrents accordingly, so I can get a good ul-speed on my request, and therefore a good dl-speed, until my new torrent is in, and then adjust the situation over again.

39.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 01:53

WytLyt says: To __ITacHI__ :

When you got Adsl your ul-speed is about a tenth of your dl-speed, e.g: You got 500kB dl, and so about 50kB ul. When you're then giving let's say 40 kB to your ul, you still got about 100kB dl left. THIS IS WHY TORRENTS THEORETICALLY SHOULD WORK SO WELL, if not for those lousy leechers... :(
If you set you set your ul to unlimited you can have that your ul is killing or 'overriding' your dl, in wich case you'll have to restrict it a bit...
When your not dl however, this is not an issue, so if you don't wanna browse the web or something you can just let it loose! :)
When you got dsl in stead of Adsl this is not an issue, cause you got as much ul- as dl-speed independently...

40.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 04:43

WytLyt says: Well, I finished in 45m 21s. :)
That's about 139½kB/s average, while average swarm speed still only is around 60,70kB/s now. That's still twice as fast as I used to get m, since I configured Azereus a little bit myself, or at least played with it a little... :| And I'm upping about 215kB of 1.8mB total swarm speed! Already got a share ratio of 3.0! Now that's sharing!! :D :P >-) Got share ratio's over 30! and average Azereus share ratio is 5.5, áfter I dl Farscape (30gB)!(share ratio 1.5 and climbing)

Now, when I dl Civilization I reached up to 700kB/s, :) :+ so I don't know exactly everything. Guess it has something to do with availability and real fast ul-connections, like they use e.g. on the university (students).
Even red of someone reached 1.5mB once! Now that's nice dl for a torrent :)
(Got my connection's almost worth if reached that! ;) )

Anyhow, I don't understand non-sharing people, and probably never will.... :?

41.Posted by WytLyt on Jan 21 2008 at 05:07

WytLyt says: Hmmm, I calculated my sharing ratio manually and then came to 14.7 Don't know how Azereus comes to 5.5 .....
Anyways, I upped 1.4gB of 4x13 now (share ratio 4.1something), so I'll redivide my bandwith again, according to need and availability.

Again: I don't understand non-sharing people, and probably never will.... :? :(

Thanks a lot for this, really appreciate it. Will continue to seed for the next 24 hours.

Enough with the great "why won't everyone share" debate.
There are far more important things to worry about, like what happened to episode 13???

44.Posted by certero on Jan 21 2008 at 22:50

Thanks a lot. Do you think people from Atlantis did very badly when destroyed all of kids the rathes?
