To remove Trojans:
1.Extract "vegaspro80b_enu.exe" to a subfolder with winrar or winzip.
2.Delete original "vegaspro80b_enu.exe" you downloaded. You want the one in the subfolder that was just extracted.
3.Open subfolder, delete "_launcher.exe" and "ppi_install.dat". Rename "vegaspro80b_enu.exe" to "vegaspro80b_enu_no_trojan.exe".
4.Use "vegaspro80b_enu_no_trojan.exe" to install Vegas.
Follow same steps for "mediamanager23_enu.exe"

HOW TO INSTALL PROPERLY:
If have never attempted to install or register any Sony Vegas or Sony Vegas Trial programs, then skip step 1.
1. If you have had any Sony Vegas/Sony Vegas trial installed, then make sure they are uninstalled and that you have deleted the "Sony" and "Sony Setup" folders in C:\program files. Then go to "start" and "run". Type "regedit"(without quotes) and push enter. Now go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, scroll down and delete the folders called "Sony Creative Software" and "Sony Media Software". Now restart your computer.

2. Download this torrent and open the containing folder. Double-click on "vegaspro80b_enu" and go through the installation process. Once installed DO NOT OPEN THE PROGRAM. Go back to the containing folder and double-click on "Keygen"(If you are using Vista you will have to open it as administrator). Click the first drop-down bar and select "Vegas pro 8.0a(Build 179)". Now click "Patch". NOTE: The location that is highlighted when you press "Patch" is NOT where it needs to be applied! Navigate to My Computer/Program Files/Sony/Vegas Pro 8.0 and click "Ok". It should say that the patch has been installed. KEEP THE KEYGEN PROGRAM OPEN.

I have been following aleckermit's instructions but have had a problem while patching...
I'm on step #2. and I have clicked patch, found program files\sony\vegas and then it asked me to 'Select "Shared Plug-Ins" installation directory'
I don't know quite what to do at this point, so a little help would be great!

ummm.....i guess i'm the only one with this problem?
i have XP, but the keygen doesn't work. i even tried to run it as "administrator" but it just comes in as "bad password" or "username cannot be recognized"
any help?
when i double click the keygen, a black window just flashes for a second and disappears, that's it.
how did XP users get it to work...? i followed aleckermit's instructions, especially step number 1 because i had SV8 installed through another torrent, but it wasn't 8.0b nor was it a full version

Make sure after you install when you open the keygen you select from the drop down menu "Vegas pro 8.0a(Build 179)" copy the SERIAL that appears and LEAVE THE WINDOW OPEN and click patch, then after you fill in your info just go back to the keygen and click the Activation code (long one at the bottom)
I just read the read me and followed aleckermit (post 5,6 and 7)

I finally get it .If it says:"the authentification code is not correct",it's because you had a problem with the pointing area of the patch.
If you have a problem with the patch,you can do like this:
Put in the trash all your icons on the desktop (just for 5 min) and after drag and drop on the desktop the file you have to point("sony".
The patching process is easy now,you just have to point your desktop because the only icon you have is "sony".This time it's going to patch the good file.

Hey Sweet thanks a lot man, it works and now im actully on version 8.0c. To get to version 8.0c, just follow his instructions all of them word by word, ESPECIALLY RUNNING IN ADMINISTRATOR and NOT CLOSING KEYGEN(as this would result in giving you a different activation code and also serial code.
TO GET TO VERSION 8.0c update when vegas tells you too and just Patch from keygen, again. and do everything again.

1. Install
2. Open Keygen and scroll 2 Vegas Pro 8.0a (Build 179)
Click on Patch and patch to the folder where u installed vegas in2
(Don't Close THE KEYGEN! keep it open to use the serial and activation

3. Run Sony Vegas

I have XP and I've tried patching from the Keygen, to no avail. I patched directly into the install folder (had to be Program Files/Sony Setup/Vegas Pro 8.0, Program Files/Sony/Vegas 8.0 doesn't work), and when the activation code still didn't work, I tried patching it to the desktop like somebody suggested, tried the activation code, still nothing.
I don't know what the **** I'm supposed to do but Jesus somebody get on this (my question) please and fast thx k bye

I had your same problem but finally figured it out.
1. uninstall vegas 8
2. delete sony and sony set-up folders in program files and registration html file from where ever you saved it during first installation attempt
3. delete registry keys from HKEY_Current_User/Software AND HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Wow6432node
4. restart
5. run CCleaner, a free registry cleaner which can be obtained at http://www.ccleaner.com/ I told it to fix every problem it found. Back up your registry just in case though.
6. restart
7. install
8. if/when you update you have to patch the files again with the keygen before you register, but make sure you keep the keygen open the whole time so that you have the same serial and activation numbers
I don't know exactly where Vegas was hiding the registration info, and when I got it to work it still brought up the name and address that I had put in before, but following the steps above worked for me so hopefully it'll help.

Okay I got the program working fine. I ran into a problem though when following the instructions. When I went to patch I kept getting an error. I knew I was doing everything correctly, so I just skipped this and continued through the steps. It is licensed and runs correctly, even without successfully patching. So what is the patch for if everything is fine without it?

Heyyyy great instructions and everything but there is one problem. Im running windows vista ultimate and for some reason it wont let me patch the keygen in the file program location. It says "An error has occured while patching the file(s)!" Do you have any idea on whats going on. I basically tryed almost everything but i always get stuck there no matter what. Please reply ASAP

when u generate the seriel key 15H-HEZB-7MLE-4CJB it always comes up with the first 3 letters (15H) and when you go to register the sony package it says seriel starts with 1FW-im stuck seriel always generates the wrong code how did the others get it working followed comments 6 it was ok till seriel

Go it when you bring up key gen for this code use the scroll on the right under product name and look for vages pro 8.a(build 179)and select that 1 and your running to some working out but got there in the end.

iv followed the instructions to the word, with the regedit etc, installed the program, then patched it, when i then open sony vegas it does not ask me for the serial number, just jumps straight to reg online or from another computer. so then when i put the auth code in it says its wrong. any ideas?

Works great just make sure you patch the correct folder i.e: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0 and not the set up folder or the download folder we all have made that mistake so all the people that says it dont work just follow the correct instructions and it will run

Sirena21, if you are using vista did you run the keygen.exe as the admin (right click it) if you are using xp just double click. then select the right program from the list, change the directory and click patch. If you have done that you should get a serial code which is - 1FW-VDZD-JQP4-7PDE and also an activation code which is BES35B7Z2-WWHY4ZDBK-BGE3K9WGH-93RSW5GBL-MJ7T2G2F0-YJ0TPP751 worked fine for me good luck with it

I'd like to say thanks to the uploader, also like many of the people having problems with the activation code, I did too. All you need do is uninstall then re-install, then follow the directions of 5,6,7 to a tee. Nothing should be different don't patch it wrong, that's why the activation code wouldn't work.

What I did was:
Run "vegaspro80b_enu.exe"
Go all the way through. When it asks for a serial key, close the installer.
Run the "Keygen.exe". Select "Vegas Pro 8.0a (Build 179)" from the drop down box for Product Name.
Press patch and locate your Sony Vegas 8.0 directory. Default "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0"
Run Vegas Pro 8.0a from the start menu.
Go back to the Key Gen and press generate.
Everything else should be obvious.
WARNING! Many/most good anti-virus programs believe all Keygens are torjans. Just trust me on this, it works and it's safe.

I followed aleckermit's to the tee and it worked a treat. 
In saying that i did try it the 1st time it didn't and the next few time it didn't work either was getting a bit frustrated so i just followed the very 1st step
"1. If you have had any Sony Vegas/Sony Vegas trial installed, then make sure they are uninstalled and that you have deleted the "Sony" and "Sony Setup" folders in C:\program files. Then go to "start" and "run". Type "regedit"(without quotes) and push enter. Now go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, scroll down and delete the folders called "Sony Creative Software" and "Sony Media Software". Now restart your computer."
Then continued on step by step word for word...and bingo.

I had a problem with the keygen. I tried running as administrator but all that popped up was a black box for less than a sec then disappeared.
Fixed this problem by using another keygen (I had Sony Acid Pro downloaded) so I used that keygen, chose Sony 8.0 Movie Series then patched.
Worked fine, thanks for the uploader! Great software!

I appreciate everyone elses is working fine and loving it, but regardless of all the info on these comments, this torrent is still a bag of **** and has the worst read me instructions on the planet. Why can't uploaders explain themselves properly and what good is uploading software that takes an eternity to install or work out?

Followed Aleckermits instructions (5-7) deleted the download and redownloaded. I had soooo many problems with this. when the activication code finally worked, I couldnt get into the program, it just stopped working all the time. After many failed attempts, I have finally installed this program and i want to thank ALECKERMIT (5-7) and NJYZ (146) re turning off data execution prevention.
