can any one tell me how to put this onto a pocket pc ? wheres the unlock key ? many thanks
3.Posted by ernie19 on Feb 17 2008 at 22:33
Thanks for the upload.
It is the last version V10.
With a Key generator you will have to unlock the map.
Don't know how to upload it to a GPSunit!
4.Posted by Grim_67 on Feb 21 2008 at 09:29
NO unlock codes or generator. Don't waste your time downloading.
5.Posted by smartybones on Feb 24 2008 at 21:09
Grim_67, you dont know what your talking about.....
it is the latest version NT 2008... installed and working perfectly...
first, grab a copy of the garmin keygen that jetmouse made.
http://www.mininova.org/tor/1102174
then to create your key...
open the keygen, put in your garmin unit id.
select custom mapset
enter "284"
create the key....
Use the unlock wizard... (dont be a dork and register)
hey presto.... the map details are unlocked
6.Posted by smartybones on Feb 24 2008 at 21:09
then.....
get the seral number of your SD card.. you only need the frist 7 digits..
enter them again into the keygen where it says unit ID.
generate a key
in notepad, put the generated key into a file, and save it on the SD card in a folder called "garmin" and name the file "GMAPSUPP.UNL"
put the SD card back into your SatNav....
uplaod your maps to your heart is content....
the above info is not my own work, but the work of several other people YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE....
I just made it simple to unsderstand....
for anyone who makes a comment after this post about the lack of a key... you fool... open your eyes and read !!!!

how to upload the map to the SD card, via mapsource soft?
thanks

14.Posted by archimedes08 on Mar 07 2008 at 16:17
I was able to unlock the maps and get into MapSource, however after I upload the maps to my Nuvi 250 they can't be unlocked.
I've tried pretty much everything I can think of:
- different serial number for SD card (I tried what I thought was the serial number then tried the other line of numbers written on the card.)
- adding a character return and line feed at the end (found it in another forum)
- rebundling the maps and so on
Anyone have any suggestions for a Nuvi 250 user?
Also, just to make sure I did it right, how did you find the serial number of the SD card?

23.Posted by fahrenheit991 on Mar 20 2008 at 21:03

did you look up the right id of your nüvi?
i followed the instructions from the unlock package .... in the v 1.2 folder the file which is named "documentation"
24.Posted by archimedes08 on Mar 21 2008 at 19:59
Thanks, I finally got it to work
25.Posted by marco17014 on Mar 24 2008 at 07:01
Finally got mine working, problem was down to putting in unit serial number not unit id. Thanks for the help and the upload

26.Posted by grahbo on Mar 25 2008 at 21:38
Pi$$ed around for ages with "can't unlock map's" problem.
Finally realised there is no unlock codes required for my SD card.
Just use the KG to unlock Mapsource and upload to my Nuvi 250. Simple.
Everything appears to be in order.
Cheers to uploader!

For me the generated unlock code are reconized as unknown code by garmin unlock wizard

I have installed and unlocked the maps on both my PC and handheld unit but I am unable to transfer auto routing data to my handheld, even though the unit supports it. The check box under the mapsets in mapsource is greyed out and cannot be checked. Auto-routing works on mapsource but not on my GPS Map60csx, just straight line routes. Can anyone help?
30.Posted by marco17014 on Mar 30 2008 at 07:42

Hi guys
I really appreciate your work. awesome!
Now my problems: Do I need to install all the files on the SD Card.
I yet only have a 1GB Card and I'm not yet really keen on buying a third one... the price will fall as the dollar falls you know...:-)
My other more technical problem: what programme do I need for .z01 files?
I use 7zip and most the time it does its job perfect...
thanx in advance.

Hi, i've got a garmin 60cs.
i'd like to have tried this before I get this new version.
The unlocking went well, but when i tried to upload the maps on my gps, it said: "this gps-device doesn't support city navigator europe NT 2008. please select other maps or another model"
anybody with a 60cs know what to do?
38.Posted by strango on Apr 04 2008 at 07:41
Work perfectly on Nuvi 300
Funciona perfectamente en el Nuvi 300!!!
39.Posted by el_camino on Apr 04 2008 at 12:28
indeed,
i received a confirmation from a garmin shop that this map cannot be used with a garmin 60cs, only with 60csX
spoiled some bandwidth there ;-)

ok i have the torrent downloaded and now i am trying to install the program but i am not able to for some reason. can anyone help?
41.Posted by burgundy110 on Apr 08 2008 at 10:41
Have you un-zipped the files that you downloaded? If not you need to use an up-to-date program to un-zip the file with the zip file extention, the others will then also get processed. You should then be able to setup or install the program.
42.Posted by kiwi_mikenz on Apr 11 2008 at 12:09
Works great, smarty bones has it spot on, however,
you must use version 1.3 of the KG that he has linked to (also located in zipped folder) otherwise it will not recognise map 284 for some reason...
Cheers
43.Posted by Fabian10 on Apr 12 2008 at 03:32
I wanted to thank smartybones for his detailed instructions!
I've follow them, and had successfully downloaded several maps into my Nuvi 350 without any problems.
I have a question regarding the SD Card S/N...
Out of my little collection of SD Cards, only one of them has its S/N printed in the outside, and I didn't have any problems using that number to generate the code for the "GMAPSUPP.UNL" file.
If possible, I don't want to use that particular SD Card in my Nuvi.
Is there any way to get the S/N for my other SD Cards?
If someone knows a way to do this, please let me lnow...
Thank you again!

I can view and use the maps on my PC. I can not upload the maps to my Etrex Vista. I always get the message: "following maps have not been unlocked for your device". I did everything as described in the "documentation" (get unlock codes for device and maps, save them on the SD card in map garmin with the right names, and even copied all the maps on the SD card.
I need help, sorry.
48.Posted by kiekeboe on Apr 29 2008 at 09:18
I noticed that on the SD card my SW and gmapsupp files have also the extension .txt and I don't know how to remove it. Perhaps that is the reason it does not work?
49.Posted by insert_this on May 10 2008 at 09:38
@ kiekeboe
The easy way is (if you haven't already) to double click "my computer" then up the top click on "tools" then "folder options" then "view" then untick the box which says "Hide extensions of known file types" then click apply.
Once that is done, the .txt extension will show it will look like this GMAPSUPP.UNL.txt Delete the .txt Done

I don't understand: I've downloaded several times this torrent. Each time I try to install, I've got an error saying that disk1.cab is corrupted.
51.Posted by bunnyears on May 12 2008 at 08:52
Few questions.. have downloaded the torrent.. do I just copy that straight into my sd card or do I need to extract? Where do I get my unit ID.. I looked up the instructions on KG but can't find utilities. I used the serial number (I think) and generated the codes but I haven't got to that part yet... my sd card does not have a serial number or any number I can find.. also, how will I know that it works? sorry about 20 questions.. I'm confused.

hi smartybones, got the map unlocked ok (awaiting new sd card) do i use autorun note pad or the one in "drivers" ? and if i **** up will corrupt my legal uk map?
53.Posted by jefo4061 on May 13 2008 at 23:23
smartybones, regarding the above, will i get map updates or should i stay off garmin site?
54.Posted by clemthegreat on May 17 2008 at 10:30
hi just want to give some important hint´s for the ones who failed till now: when you have downloaded the files, push setup.exe, the programm will then ask for the keys - generate the keys as discribed, and then you have to generate the gamapsupp.img (the one which includes the map´s !)with the programm provided, by just selecting all maps and sending it to the sd card With Nüvi 300 I just followed the steps in garmin key utility v 1.2. After that you just have to put the sd card into your nüvi and it works perfectly thanx to the uploader !!

55.Posted by zaphod108 on May 23 2008 at 13:28
hi all, so good so far, but unfortunately i am still unable to find a serial number of my SD card. I tried the one printed to the card, but that didnt work. I tried all numbers i got with DOS command "dir", Windows properties of SD card, i tried calculating them from HEX to DEC, back and forth. Nothing worked out.
Desparately looking for a hint.
THX, zaphod
56.Posted by clemthegreat on May 26 2008 at 21:50
hi zaphod108, I think you don´t need the serial number of your sd card, just generate the garmin passwords with the program keygen that jetmouse provided, therefore use your garmins ID + the map key then you have 2 keys. This keys have to be used when installing map source, then generate gamasupp.imp with mapsource, when you have done this, save the gamasupp.imp on the SD card, then you have to generate 2 files, in which you write the same keys you have generated with keygen. save them also on your sd card, but don´t forget to put the files into a folder named garmin. After that just put your sd card into your garmin, then it should find the cards istself.

Greetings from Ireland
Thanks for the maps
I can open europe on my pc but when I try to put it on an sd card It saves it as gmapsupp.img when I put the can in my nuvi 310 it will not unlock maps.
I tried the keygen version 1.2 and 1.3 to create a key for the sd card but that will not work either.
I know I'm most likely doing something stupid and It's wreaking my head can anybody please explain to an idiot like me step by step how to do this
regards
58.Posted by jefo4061 on May 30 2008 at 19:01
welgard, welcome to the club, smartybones is not so smart!! RIGHT-- here is the proper way , you do not need the sd card serial no. clear your card, connect your garmin to computer, open mapsource, in utilities select find gps id put this id into the 1.3 keygen, use custom mapset create unlock code (bottom one),go back into utilities and select unlock maps paste this into the unlock wizard don't registar! and that is your maps unlocked (for your gps only) create a map and send to your sd card, hey presto it works!!!! no fancy files no fuss no trouble!

60.Posted by jefo4061 on May 30 2008 at 23:24
apology to smartybones, follow his instructions on comment 5 then the maps are unlocked on mapsource to your personal satnav! follow my instructions to get your unit id, however DO NOT TRY TO SET UP YOUR SD CARD WITH THE THE INSTRUCTIONS ON COMMENT 6 ....just create a map and send it to sd card ps, if your unit has space you can download a small map direct to
your gps.

Having problems unzipping it here on my Mac (OSX 10.5). Doubleclicking the .zip file just produces a .cpgz file of almost the same size. Doubleclicking THIS .cpgz file in turn produces another .zip file of nearly the same size. And so forth.
Anyone any idea how to unzip these .zip, .z01, .z02, ... files on a Mac? Which tool can handle this?
thanks a lot!

As a total newbie I've struggled somewhat with the instructions provided, but managed to find my way through. Not so complicated once you figure it out, but anyway, I've written my own instructions for the rest of the newbies out there. Very detailed step-by-step instructions with explanations. You can find them under comments over at piratebay.org:
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3971378/Garmin_MapSource_City_Navigator_Europe_v2008_NT
Just to outline what you need to do:
1)Get your Nuvi's ID number. 2) Use it to get the unlock code for the maps. 3) Install the maps on the PC. 4) Create the map image file and copy it to a card or GPS device. 5) Unlock the maps for use on your Nuvi.
Hope you find it useful. It was too long to post here. Had some trouble posting it there too, but it should make much more sense then trying to make sense of the little bits posted in many comments, in the NFOs and READMEs and elsewhere.

Unlocking maps with a GPS ID is a bit tricky but it does the job. Also check some other GPS apps at http://www.pocketpcfreeware.org/ category "Travel".

It is the Mapsource City Navigator Europe NT 2008 DVD ?
You have not specified if the version is V9 or V10
I presume 2008 is V10, someone can confirm ?
Thanks
