I spoke to soon. It peaked at ~120KBytes for about a minute....but it's up and down all over the place. Currently mines sitting between 25KB and 60KB. It's not steady at all.....says there is 73 peers.

i assume the dl speed are fluctuating because atm there is only one seeder and everyone is trying to dl it so we get good speeds when one of us gets a portion of the file then slows down waiting for more people to have other parts of it ??? just a guess

Was up to 200kb at one point then down to 0 for about 30 seconds then up to 6kb now back down to 0....very frustrating. Said 1 hour to go and was getting shorter and shorter Got so excited.

yeah so downloading this tomorrow (permitting the 300 Victorians who are leaving their computer on overnight leave them on) will be super quick.
Why can't Channel 9 take a note from the ABC and just let us pod cast it, they are just encouraging people to pay for their internet by extorting fellow workmates with hard to get TV shows

still i wonder when the High Def 1 comes out cause 2 hours 4 only 700MB ends up only being the boring 350MB each hour. That aint good on high ends plasmas or LCDs. It needs 2 be at least 2GB for the two hours.

CARMELA_SOPRANO - i'd say there is no streaming site nor is it supposed to be on the net.. (court order and all) your best bet is to download a bittorrent client and join the club in leeching this little gem slow as it seems currently. ;\
Or beg one of ur friends to download the torrent for you (assuming they know about torrents and how to use them) - It's just too fresh atm to have any real direct download link.

Er what makes u say this? I have over 50mb of the file and on previewing through VLC Player it comes up as being Underbelly! exact same Program Classification at the start and the channel nine trademark info and then the episode starts.. i dont know what made you think this is a fake.. looks pretty real to me and HD quality it seems too

Original seeder has bailed out after mininova.org was mentioned in Australian newspapers and the government threatened anyone distributing it.
There will be no seeds for this, don't bother trying to download it.

because there is no seeder! he dropped off and everyone is stuck on 13%
mine stopped @ 13% and is SLOWLY creeping up by 0.1% at a time. since the seeder dropped off everyone has been hammering my upload to grab that first 13% as im sure is happening to others who have the same amount.
I dont know if the seeder will come back but there is another torrent which im downloading atm from a site mentioned in the previous comments. On preview this file looks the same as the one on here but 40meg smaller. It has seeds and is hammering pretty fast for me averaging about 60-100KB/s. I think this is the next step as i dont see the seeder for this torrent comming back anytime soon, got scared!
Although, as mentioned, despite there being no seeder im still slowly leeching the file and my percentage bar is going up slowly lol!

rofl just register on the site. thats all i did.. took 30 seconds. it's a private tracker which is why u have to register and cant just snatch and grab... it's gone from 1Hr ETA to 8Hrs ETA now.. seeder has slowed down a bit but it's still comming..

I have 13.3% and am slowly leeching from here @ around 2.0KB/s - Im laughing at how many VIC hostnames are popping up on my connected peers list trying to leech that 13.3% off me 154 odd peers connected out of about 800 in the swarm.. and NO SEEDER! HA!

Only way u can see the announce url or what tracker it came from is by loading the .torrent file in your client and copy + paste the link once the .torrent has started.
Try open it anyway, If u can connect then yay! no new download required.. if it doesn't connect and u get errors like "Invalid Pass Key" or something simular then u may have to download the .torrent file yourself so that it attaches a unique key which identifies ur machine as being the one that downloaded the .torrent file. Then you can resume the download.
Heh sounds a bit confusing but it's not once u've loaded a couple of torrents and notice the unique pass key thing on some private trackers.

lol surprisingly i dont feel tired yet but it's bound to hit me soon enough. it's like 6am in syd now.
think of a .torrent file as a text file containing all the information for that torrent. like everything about it. type of file. etc etc and then all that information is encrypted down into ABCDEF12345..... type key called a Hash. To decrypt it you would have to know the type of encryption used (which i dont off the top of my head but a quick google would yield some results im sure) and then run the .torrent file through the decrypter and yeah bobs ya uncle.. but thats all a bit of a muck around man. best bet is to try and use a proxy on sites that are blocked by your ISP. proxies or a VPN!

you can open the file with VLC while you are downloading, no matter what percentage you have. I first previewed it at 10%. You are only able to view the parts of the file you have so it starts and stops depending on how much. I had enough to see the opening credits the channel 9 symbol and some of the actors which comfirmed its real.

Us Aussies are really showing our torrent style here! Almost exclusively an Aussie torrent, remrkably low seed count that has now increased & yet speeds are still ridiculously slow.
It's not much use seeding if you do it at 1 kB/s(although still better than nothing I guess!). I am at 8.3% after 2 hours & have a ration of 3! That's right, I have uploaded 3 times what I have downloaded at 8.3% - I've never seen such a large torrent stream so bad.
MAYBE WE SHOULD ALL STICK TO AMERICAN SHOWS JUST BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW TO DISTRIBUTE THE TORRENTS!

I agree with what you are saying but to be fair the "American Shows" have high speed seeders whereas this is just everyone using there normal internet connection.

It is also well known that Australian internet is extremely slow when compared to the rest of the world
Also a lot of Aussie ISP's are starting to count uploads as part of the download limit (if this is your ISP I urge you to change to an ISP that does not do this and let them know why you are leaving).
Anyone who is thinking about finishing and not seeding just remember that if everyone did that we would get nothing...Do what you can to give back to the community !!

aanet is an ISP which doesnt count uploads, in victoria anyway. You can seed all day and it won't contribute to your allocation. Their prices are amongswt the most competative also.

I understand that not everyone has super upload speeds but neither do I. I am uploading at 40-50 kB/s & that is not super quick, but that is dishing out 7-8 kB/s to 6 people. Have a look at your download & see how many people you are downloading from at 0.5-1 kB/s.....
It may be the number of upload peers they have but I assume most people use default which is 4(I think) with µTorrent which seems to be the client of choice. This means that these people are uploading at between 2-4 kB/s. I don't know of many(any) Aussie ISP's where the minimum upload is that slow!
The ISP's counting upload in limits is an understandable issue for some but I think people must understand that & accept that whatever they download via torrents they should upload at least the same amount. Luckily I don't have this problem & so will seed at least until next weeks episode.

On another note - If you are new to using torrents & you are located in Australia, please be sure to PROTECT YOURSELF & use software such as Peer Guardian 2 (http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/). This software also helps to keep the torrents faster as it helps to eliminate bad data from dodgy IP's

Yep I agree Peer Guardian 2 is a MUST and a decent firewall can't hurt either. I normally seed until I hit a ratio of at least 1.5 (which is the default setting for utorrent). I too will seed for at least a week although I can't upload at much more than 30kb/s but it is better than nothing.

Usually a torrent this big(ie. with this many seeds & peers) will be able to max out your connection(up to about 1 Mb/s I guess) if the users are selfless.
The problem with this torrent is that a LOT of the people(both seeders & LEECHERS) aren't uploading very quickly. This is self-defeating because the BitTorrent protocol then rewards them with slow downloads as well!
All I can suggest is that you maximise your upload rate(to about 80% of your maximum) & let the BitTorrent software do its thing(which means that it will then reward you with better download speeds). It will take some time, but if everyone that can does it, the protocol WILL reward the uploaders with better download speeds.
Once those good uploaders then become SEEDERS, the overall performance of the torrent swarm will improve markedly.
So, in answer to your question - NO, TORRENTS AREN'T USUALLY THIS SLOW!

I used internode because there are no upload limits - it's free.
I have a 40GB per month download limit which is shaped after I hit that, but not charged extra, nor disconnected. Costs me $100 a month, but it's worth it, for the steady service and helpful support.
I love internode and would recommend it to anyone.
I'm downloading at 52kb/s now - yes it's going up and down but likely most don't have ADSL2 or anything like that thanks to Sol and the gang.
Stick with it, keep the number of seeds up, people.

The original uploaders "could" be in the most trouble, if Nine want to pursue it. Was a case recently that some kid in Sydney got busted for uploading the Simpsons Movie (and was fined $1000) ... but movies are a different case tp FTA television
The fuzz won't go after the downloaders, although Mininova might be getting a letter from Channel 9's lawyers (but that would be nothing new)

I'm not new to downloading through torrents, but am new 2 download Australian Drama though and actually your ip address is useless cause that is just an ip address thats within your firewall your real ip is something like 123.553.445.332 as an example. Have 127.0.0.1 is a basic networking address within your own home network. means nothing on the outer world of the net.

can they presecute someone on the other side of the world such as the people in dubai who r also downloading it. cause all u need is people who recorded it in australia to give it 2 someone overseas via messanger or any uploading downloading webistes then let the people overseas do the dirty work and be the first original seeders. OMG!! Thanks for telling me about peerguardian. I never used that before. Before I used peergueardian, my download speeds were varying from 15-20kb/s for underbelly. As soon as I got it running, my download speed has rocketed up to over 60kb/s for most of the time, and only reaching a minimal speed of 40kb/s. Although my max speed is about 150kb/s, I never get it, so I'm happy now.

@knuckle2000, the Judge had to 'review' the episodes before ruling anything. The episodes had to be transported by couriers. Somewhere along the line it would have been duplicated. Who knows?

Thanks man, top quality and only 35 minutes to download. For those having trouble burning a DVD try using ConvertXtoDVD simple and fast, approx 1 hour from an avifile to a DVD ready to play. Keep away from Nero too slow and codec trouble as well. Thanks again to all the seeders keep up the good work.

i think it was jumbo asking in regards to putting on disc and playing on dvd player and only getting sound. Did this do it on your computer as well. if so its a codec issue. Otherwise as others have said use convertx. I have a pioneer and a cheaper omni and both play avi's after i burn to disk using nero. Are you burning as a data file.
