i can say for definite that all official guitar hero controllers work, as well as the TAC wireless freedom v guitar(as long as you have the adaptor for those which weren't compatible with GHII) Also the singstar microphones work with this as long as you plug in a dual shock controller. you CANNOT use two guitars and the mic as you dont have enough ports because the multi tap does not work with this game.

You will need a PS2 modchiped or swap magic 2 (at least).
To Burn:
- UnRAR the image Rockband.iso.
- Burn it using DVD Decrypter at 2X or 4X.
If you need more information, google it.

It looks like songs are all working, I've been able to play a dozen songs that were unavailable for me on the DVD9 release (I had issues when trying to get songs of the second layer).
Keep in mind that movies have been removed or downsampled, though, as the show that takes place beyond your guitar on each song is actually a movie and is therefore downsampled, with sometimes some pretty awfull compression.
Now that it's said, it's better than nothing, nice work, I thought there would never be a DVD5 release !

yes ralph7. i am positive all songs work. you may also want to burn this to a dvd+r. i found this best for compatibility issues. the music videos which play in the background to the songs have been visibly downsampled, and the in game movies are removed but who gives a siht , right? i selected all the files in the rar, which unpacked as another directory, then selected all of those files and unpacked them, and that will give you your iso. i then used nero burning rom to write it. i have a ps2 with the dms4 pro lite mod chip and it works perfectly. just use green button to skip through any videos as lmy said.

its just like i said i downloaded the 3.7gb version and i tried some of the songs lower down the list(go with the flow, wont get fooled again, next to you) and they just froze on the loading screen.

I burned with NERO 8 at 4x and it works very well. The problem is I DON'T have a microphone and a guitar. I should run to shop to buy one. Guitar hero was good for me even with the dual shock.

I have downloaded this file 100% and I have this problem: When I extract the .rar file everything is fine and i get an iso, then i tried to extract the iso to my desktop and then it asks me if i want to extract all the other files in the other volumes or if i want to extract only Rockband.part01.rar so i clicked to extract all the other files too and it sayed the following after a couple of seconds :
You are missing the following volume : C:\Documents and Settings\Debbie & Yvan\Local Settings\Temp\Rar$DI01.000\Rockband.part02.rar

mpparty what you have to do is extract all the files and not only the rockband.part01.rar. Highlight all the .rar files and then extract them.... it should work fine

I've burned many games and only a few do not work properly (because of the TOC problem using Swap Magic 3.6). Does this need to have the TOC refreshed to enable it to work? Which games (besides Grand Theft Auto San Andreas) are you able to do the TOC refresh (properly) with? Thank you.

I just want to say that this ISO works perfectly on my slim PAL version PS2 (Matrix Infinity v1.93). I extracted the RAR files and burned the iso on a Verbatim dvd in Nero7 on 4x.
I unlocked all songs with a cheat code and so far it seems they are all working (tried atleast 90% of the songs). The background videos are downsampled, but who cares! Sound is perfect and everything is in sync.
This game works perfectly with the original "Gibson SG" controller from "Guitar Hero 1 and 2". Also it works with the 3rd party wireless guitar ("flying V"
from TAC - as long as you have the "Guitar Hero 2 adapter".
If you want to use 2 guitars and a usb mic, you will need to have a multitap also - because you need to have a normal controller running on the PS2 for the vocalist.

The game works fine on Ps2. No song's missing, they're all there!
Of course you need to have Swap Magic or a modchip to run this game!
Procedure :
The following procedure is for Mac users. Windows users... simply replace the "Unrar" application by your personnal decompresser and "Toast" by Nero or whatever you use to burn your DVDs :
1- Decompress the folder by using "Unrar" http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15272
2- Once "Unrar" is installed, you simply have to double click on ANY of the ".rar" file. "Unrar" will create the file "Rockband.iso"
** "Rockband.iso" is an image file that does NOT need to be mounted or changed in any way!

Providence94, you did the right thing. Using DVD-RW can damage your Ps2 lense !
And now, if you want to unlock every song in the game (which disables the ability to save), go to the game's title screen and insert the following code on any instrument:?
Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue
Dont forget, you wont be able to save your game when unlocking all songs !

I just figured out what you were talking about. Unfortunately, Oasis songs, and many other songs, are only available for Ps3 and Xbox360 as you need to connect your console to the net and BUY the songs online.
So in the end, if you have a Ps2 and used the cheat code I gave you, these are ALL THE SONGS you can get for a Ps2.

Of course the official Rockband drum set for Playstation 2 works with RockBand. But if you have another drum in mind, you'll have to make a research to see its compatibility before buying it.
But right now, I dont think any other drum will work with the game. For instance, I'm 100% sure that the Konami drum set for Drummania does NOT work with RockBand.
If you're not sure about the one you are planning to buy, let us know which specific model it is and we'll try to help you figure out if it might work. But dont forget that the official drum set for RB is probably one of the most affordable!

Right now there's no way you cam install RockBand on your Pc. But instead, if you want, you could buy the official RockBand drum set and play with it on your computer

To upload a video on the net we would have to compress (once again) the original image. Which means, the image would look even worse than the real one. Who needs high quality images while concentrated on the partition anyway?

I have been trying for a long time to crack open rockband, for customization, and all fails. I need this cause my ps2 wont read dual layers. Even with the original disc, I get a freeze at the main menu. I hope your version works, I will have to wait 27 hours to find out tho

sorry for double post, but this ISO is not working. burned with alchohol at PS2 settings/6.1x like with my other games, and using the cogswap method. Soon as i boot it goes black and laser makes odd noises. It doesnt do this with other games. I tried rebooting and pressing green over and over and it still does this, but i believe there is ads BEFORE the vid? I dont see those. If anyone knows what im doing wrong, lemee know!!!

The game works fine. May I suggest you to burn the game at a VERY LOW SPEED (which is a suggestion you should always apply, otherwise good luck to your Ps2 lense!). Burn it at 2X (I even do it at 1X)
If this doesn't work could you tell us if just for this one game you didn't use a new DVD brand ?

My burner/media goes to the lowest speed of 6x. I heard about 2x being the best for the PS2, but i have about 20 games backed-up, all at 6x. I think its because its too large for cogswap/the high TOC disc i use. I downloaded the ripkit, and am trying it on my own RB dics, and see if that helps. Thanks Kim!

I have the same problem as stupidcarrots, I use the same brand of dvds I always use ( Imation )and I burned it useing nero at speed 2.4 and then I tried at 1x with no luck. could the problem be Nero? should I try Alcohol??

Maybe you could give it a try with Alcohol but it might not make any difference.
A lot of Nero users have confirmed that the game is working.
If you want to be 100% sure that the problem does not come from the burning process, go ahead and try Alcohol.
But then, if it still doesn't work, the failure might be a little more complicated to resolve.
Are you also using the cogswap / high TOC disc method?
And stupidcarrots, if you're still arround, could you tell us how you finally managed to make it work... if it does work...

DVD-R are the only DVDs that should be used for game copies!
If you're planning to use Alcohol, you might wanna take a look at this :

But the guy there keeps the burning maximum speed rate. Dont do the same thing!

Hey thanks for the file.
However I am having some problems to load the game. I extract the file with WinRAR burn it on the DVD (2x speed) with DVD Decrypter, Roxio or Nero and nothing happens on the PS2. It only makes some strange noises while reading.

Well first of all, your Ps2 has to be chipped OR you have to use Swap Magic (just anything that allows you to read copies!).
It could be the DVD brand : when I use cheap dvds it TRIES to read and makes a terrible noise. Now I only use Memorex. Oh and make sure they are DVD-R (and not +R)
And finally, if the DVD is not the problem, then you'll have to tell us which version of Mac Os you're running, AND which procedure you followed.

This iso works great except for one exception. As far as I can tell every song works except for one, being In Bloom by Nirvana. Every time I try to play that song about 60-70 percent through the song it just freezes and thats that. This is ****ty because its one of the first songs you have to complete to move on. If anyone else is having this issue could you let me know and if youve fixed it also that to. Ive tried reburning at different speeds with dvd decrypter and nero, but it doesnt seem to do anything.

This is a weird problem. I know it might sound dumb, but could you take a look at your dvds under bright light just to make sure there is not a SCRATCH at the exact same place on each of your dvds.
Otherwise, it could be a LENSE problem or your dvd BURNER having a problem. If you have access to another computer, try burning your game with it (and at the same time, why not try a blank dvd from another brand?).
Like I said, your problem is weird, this song works perfectly, just like the others.

DVD-R (arround 4,7GB) are the ones that will rok
Notice that Memorex is a brand that your Ps2's lense will appreciate !
Avoid DVD+R
The DVD5 and DVD9 you're talking about are probably DVD-ROM. I'm not 100% sure, but I dont think it's gonna work.
Test it! That's the best advice I can give you!

I have never tested either the microphone or the Xbox360 drum controller on a Ps2.
I know Ps2 and Ps3 drum comtroller are compatible for both platforms but Xbox... not sure.
It really shouldn't take long to download the game's Torrent here and try your setup.
So give it a try and tell us if it works!

The Game is downloaded, and works so perfectly, that I've made 5stars on all the 58 songs in it IN HARD. I love it. Starting in Expert right now...
