@DMaarten
Source was TV -- broadcast in upscaled 1080p.
I don't know too much about the files, I'm downloading them myself.
Already downloaded the samples and they look good. Eps 4,5,6 although 1080p look more like 720p in terms of detail. The rest are all 1080p as far as I can tell.

Hey People, this is one of the best movie series ever created by mankind. PLEASE SEED THIS! Thanks to any and all who are seeding. THANKS!

Anyone who invests time and bandwidth to share upscaled, HD-1080 material re-compressed for standard DVD is a FOOL.
None of the 8GB or 4GB copies are high-quality. In fact, they often look WORSE than the original DVDs.
If you are going to DL/UL an 8GB file, then support the original DVD. If you want to DL/UL an HD capture, then you should be supporting a file that is 12GB... MINIMUM!

P.S.
See previous comment for explanation as to why seeding is low. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KEEP OR SEED 8 GIGABYTES OF MEDIOCRITY.
19.Posted by McGreek on Mar 11 2008 at 14:09
The 720p and 1080p rips are great. Keep the coming! I love it!
20.Posted by johnny-tabs on Mar 15 2008 at 00:28
1920x816 is not 1080p either btw.
there are the seperate episodes in around 12 gig size that are much better on here
21.Posted by johnny-tabs on Mar 15 2008 at 00:32
ok my bad I wasn't taking the black bars into account as part of the resolution.
22.Posted by Dozers on Mar 18 2008 at 08:23

@ wavyx
VLC kicks media player classic in the balls... especially when you are on a laptop that has powersave enabled. I used to be a big fan of Media Player Classic but it doesn't overwrite the powersave functions where VLC does.
29.Posted by 720plover on Apr 12 2008 at 13:57
1) media player classic has the most options and the best image quality.
2) whoever here keeps saying 4 or 8 gig versions are worse the DVD has no clue. compare any DVD to a 4.37 HD rip, and the difference is insane.
Episode 3 revenge of the sith looks sick, and I compared it to my DVD.
3) I am at 99.7% now after a huge month of downloading
4) thanks uploader

To all uploaders and leechers:
PLZ SEED!!!
33.Posted by Chat_Noir on May 12 2008 at 02:22
Reading through the comments I realize that the average IQ of most people is much lower than I ever imagined. Some examples:
@#17 - These are not recompressed to MPEG-2 (or DVD quality as you put it) nor are they upscaled from whatever imaginary resolution you think they originated from. I have no idea where you came up with the "look worse than DVD!!!!! OMGZ0r5!!" comment, but audio and video bitrates can easily achieve 1080p quality in 8.4GB. Sit.
@#18 - The only thing mediocre is your intelligence. Go back to Counter Strike and leave comments about video to the adults.

To all people who keep asking how long it takes do d/l.... If you REALLY are in such a rush.... Just go to the frigging shop and buy the darn thing.. The most recent episode in this saga is 3 years old. So, you waited 3 years before you decided to search for it.. and NOW you can't wait 2 months to complete download it? Simply *****ic........
35.Posted by Chesco on May 26 2008 at 20:32
Just wanted to give the uploader a big ty for posting this!
I am off of my chair amazed of the quality of these movies, especially with eps.#3, a true masterpiece for Lucas and the film industry. You couldnt appreciate the movie at the theatures and with a reg. DVD due to the poor resilution, but with these files you can see the brilliance of what these movies really are! I didn't think it would be that much of a difference but after watching i was truely amazed and now only downloading Bluray films from now on.
Cheers!

why is there like no seeeders if u want the torrent u should at least seed it once or twice its your just being a **** if u dont its people that dont seed that are ruining it for everone else be considerite and dont just think about yourself SEED
37.Posted by Chesco on May 29 2008 at 11:17
Well there are seeders, the prob. is that not many ppl can seed files that are 50 gigs lrg. I actually had to go out and buy a 1Terrigig external drive to store all my new downloaded files. I highly reccomend ppl do the same as im loving my huge movie and music collection!
38.Posted by Chesco on May 29 2008 at 11:21

I think all we ask is that if you are to download these files, plz at least turn up your allowed uploaded bandwith in your bittorrent preferences so that we can at least download faster.
Tnx everyone!

is this is upscaler or is really rip from HD?
41.Posted by jlrg517 on Jul 12 2008 at 08:19
really good quality i've downloaded episodes I, II, V and VI and it looks great, this are the DVD versions but I think the source is not the DVD, I mean this are not upscaled copies because I've done it "on the fly" with a PS3, an Xbox (the black one), and my iMac dvd player and no one sees that good,
42.Posted by jlrg517 on Jul 12 2008 at 08:19
also in what could be described as a moment of insanity took my dvd of ep II ripped with handbrake at CQR of 90 % then export the result with quiktime in h264 in HD at 32 mbits/s and as a process that took my computer over 2 days of work it look very similar to the "on the fly" encoding.
43.Posted by jlrg517 on Jul 12 2008 at 08:20
but returning to the episodes the other reason why this is not a DVD rip is that for episodes V and VI in the 2004 DVD there are some differences in color (Vader's blade for example) and to finish already the episode I has several analog artifacts like dust from a film release so presumably this was ripped from a reel but its the dvd version!! so really wherever it comes it's not a regular source but it's really a good example of what would be the blue ray release when finally arrive (if it does). i recommend downloading the episode I at last.
45.Posted by Gothmaster27 on Aug 13 2008 at 21:44
Great work, thanks so much, aren´t you planning on uploading 1080p LotR EE that is in ONE piece(not 4 dvd sized files...)? That would be really great.
46.Posted by Burt003 on Aug 30 2008 at 01:52
This is really superb, absolutely not a DVD-rip. If i heard correctly it is recorded from a british hdtv-sender. If you don't have a screen of at least 35'' with FULL-HD (just a wild guess, got a 42'' FHD myself) you probably couldn't tell the difference from a dvd to start with because you lack the resolution to see the actual difference from a DVD. The 1st episode has a bit of speckles in the bright areas but still very good quality. The rest is really good, even better than a bunch of BD-rips i've seen.
Just a tip for the audio-freaks, episode 2 and 3 are 'only' 2 channel, in case you have the original DVDs you can replace the audio with the audio from the DVDs so you have 5.1 audio. Also gets rid of the voice at the end of course.
Three thumbs up!
