just kidding
but I'd like to receive a "thanks" if you're satisfied with my "work"... That's not too much to ask is it?
Oh, btw: you can use the localized (in your language) update packages from nero.com, put them in neropatentactivation directory and hit install.cmd... dont have to download the 1 billion gigabyte edition, the 200mbyte is enough.
3.Posted by godrizzo on Feb 27 2008 at 04:22
it actually worked
thanks for the upload my nero works again lol
good work

I knew eventually some bright soul would figure out which port was being used. Bet you the next revision will use different ports ;-/
5.Posted by kEiNsTeiN on Feb 27 2008 at 10:21
I doubt that actually.
Unfortunately I could only figure out the ports, maybe an IP-Range block would be more efficient, but then you might not be able to go to nero.com anymore. But there are mirrors, softpedia eg, so that shouldn't be a biggie...

the above does not work for me, i still get an activation error. Grrr so must frustration! LOL Im still new with this stuff anyway... how do you block nero with windows defender firewall??? thanks anyone.
7.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 18:09
ive tried nero 8 version until they are coming out of my ears this one included and still get the patent activation pop up when adding a film to nero vision, there is something somewhere nero have added for sure as ive followed everyones advice on every post and still get the pop up i think it only works for those installing it for the first time and not those who have been using it for a few months and have tried moving up the different veriosn of 8
8.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 18:47
on this one it seems to install nero 7 and gets so far and then fails so i dont get as far as nero 8 on this one, no idea why it installs nero 7 and then fails

thedude0420 you are stu.pid, 8.2.8.0 does not have that file anymore (and neither do we have patentactivation with the autoit-script, RTFM). At least nero recode checks the key on every start, so st.fu if you have NO idea what you are talking about. Go play warcraft or whatever you kids to these days. Seriously, defaulting to swearing at random people is more than infant behavior, grow up.

@post 9+10:
weird. Try this:
1. Uninstall ALL Nero stuff at controlpanel/add & remove programs (maybe reboot, just to be sure)
2. Download http://ftp22.nero.com/Nero8/Nero-8.2.8.0_all_update.exe and put it into nero8patentactivation, and doubleclick install.cmd (again: if you want more than nero main, recode, and cover designer, you HAVE to adjust Nero8_2.2.au3 according to your needs (simple text file)
3. follow the readme.txt in the main directory of the torrent for the windows firewall rule.
This works for both Windows XP and Windows Vista (even though Vista has another option to do this, the advanced firewall, which can block outbound connections per-program, if you have vista, simply let it block all executables in the nero folder, and common files/nero, OR simply use this ipsec-rule.)

oh, and @7+8:
really try uninstalling all nero first, if that doesn't work, try one of those various registry cleaners around, and it that doesn't work either, reinstall your pc
(in my case, revert to perfect_backup, so it's easy)
sorry if this sounds a bit drastic, I have no idea where nero saves it's keys, but using the AutoIt script, I DEFINATELY got rid of those popups (using recode, dont know about vision)!
@7 alone: windows defender is afaik just a spyware removal tool. you need to block outgoing connections of the nero executables. any personal firewall can do that (vista firewall as well). If you allow those connections, you'll have to enter new keys every few starts of nero! YET, it wont lock up totally if you used autoit

i have already tried what you say kein by using a fresh trial version from nero site but it says installing nero 7 get so far fails and then closes trust me ive installed nero 8 10 or more times different versions off the sites and tried every way recomended and still get patent activation when adding a file into nero vision, nero have put something somewhere like i say ive cleaned regisrty and so on, everyone will get to where iam soon enough, nero 8 has not been cracked by anyone yet only temporary works for those who instal it for first time those like me who moved up as the latest releases came out are now done for until someone cracks nero 8 properly
14.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 20:49
ahhhh just noticed your link is not for a trial version of nero 8 its for an update, gona try it agin thanks kein
16.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 22:10
yes it worked with the nero 8 update.exe rather than using the trial version it only installed basics of nerop so i had to re do it to add nero vision all worked fine, but during install i see the mention of nero 8 trial and i have just installed it on a new pc thats never had nero so now the big test is trying it on my other pc where all other nero 8 installs from every torrent so far have failed to stop the patient activation
will report back
18.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 22:44
Sorry to report tried it on my main pc that has problems with nero patent activation no matter whos version i try of nero 8. This it is still trying to install nero 7 with the same setup as i used on the other pc mentioned above so sadly once peoples nero 8 stops working there is no fix yet but for those installing nero 8 for the first time all of the nero 8 torrents will work until the trial period runs out
19.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 22:50
thanks kein for the effort this will work fine for those installing nero for the first time but for us pro users we are buggered until someone works out what nero have added in stealth
20.Posted by dazco on Feb 27 2008 at 22:57
and before anyone says, have cleaned reg and pc of all nero and used nero clean tool, got no idea why this fix installs nero 7 when it has nero in the same folder but it does, and every single nero 8 release on any torrent site i have tried and non work for me now but they did before, nero have put something somewhere that showing ive used my nero 8 trial period your all gona get to where iam unless some clever dude finds a real crack
but this will work if your installing nero 8 for the first time
21.Posted by kEiNsTeiN on Feb 27 2008 at 23:20
Since I like imaging perfect setups, I usually revert back to base before doing something major; nero isn't in the backup, thus, I didn't have nero installed before, but while testing all the torrents, I DID have various versions with major number 8! Worked fine with uninstalling & using the script.
Maybe with nero7 installed before, something is screwing things up.
Try checking the registry keys of the MSI or whatever installer (it keeps a list of installed packages), since the installer might not be really Ahead-related!
I had this problem once with crysis, installer kept asking for the service pack, but I wanted to install the base version, mess, removed the registry key, bingo.

28.Posted by dazco on Feb 28 2008 at 06:31
Have a look at the files in here maybe they hold the key to stopping nero expiring

@28+31:
omg, sorry, but how are you able to use bittorrent if you can't figure out what elevation means?!?
Explanation: You are running Vista, and do not have administrative privileges.
Solution: Rightclick "install.cmd", and choose "Run as Administrator", maybe enter password, and confirm UAC prompt.

In summary as regards nero 8
Installing nero 8 what ever version for this first time works which ever version you use from torrent sitesbut after 30 days even if you remove patent activation.exe when you try and add a file in nero vision for example it will want to be activated for you to continue to use it. The patentactivation.exe only comes into use for going onto the net to activate what needs cracking is what ever decides after 30 days install that nero needs activating thats what needs cracking.
After 30 days has elapsed no matter what version of nero 8 you try to install when you try to use it it will ask to be activated there is something left in the pc so that any nero 8 you install after 30 days will need activating
You will have to go back to nero 7 at this point until someone cracks nero 8 properly

i agree with dazco it does the same for me. I havent been able to get nero 8 since 26-12-07

Ok I don't consider myself to be a newbie within the realm of apps and the cracks and such that come with them but I am unsure of how to use this particular fix. By temp does he mean a folder that you make for temporary purposes? And should I do this after I have Nero installed? I would just like to complete this fix the first time I try and to make sure I do it right.

I cannot get this to work at all. The install script aborts with an error ("error in line xxx"
, the command I am told to "run" is reported as an unrecognized command. I am using XP SP2. I was a fresh install after reformatting. So, I tried just installing from the Nero distribution file: Using the keygen numbers of times, I cannot get a valid serial number for this particular release. Is it possibly an 8.2.x keygen and the serials have changed for 8.3.x ??
However, using one of the above serials that was posted has worked, and so far (well over a week now) Nero has not deactivated my installation.

Figured it out. Works great. Although, I did realize after I had installed that I don't really need this program. There are other programs that cover the areas of this software better. Anyways, works well and thank you Keinstein and others. No malware

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO,
SO HERE'S 1 ADVICE, IF THAT ACTIVATION THING COMES UP, CLICK X THEN, CHANGE THE DATE TO A PREVIOUS 1.
IT WORKS 4 ME.
