i can't expand it with stuffit expander or unarchiver,the application say file is corrupted

OK heres the thing.... Downloaded, opened and installed the game (using UnRAR X) Then patched the game using the official patch off the aspyr website. Downloaded the no CD crack from above and tried to crack the game however this failed 
.
Does anyone know how to use the crack on Leopard for Mac.
Please help as i REALLY want to play this game!!!!!!

Game Downloaded, Installed, Patched and Played Succedfully.
Once you download, extract the .dmg file, then install the game. Donwload and install the 1.1 patch from the Aspyr web site. After that, patch the game with the utility offered in the Post 7 by DsurioN. Play the Game!
You don't need to do anything out of normal, just install everything and play.
P.D.: I'm using Leopard OS

I don't know for sure jamzbond, but it's a .dmg file, and as far as I know it just works for Macs.

do you used the UnRAR X to unzip the file?

Are you sure that you have dloaded 'Guitar Hero III Mac Patch v1.1' and not 'Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Patch v.1.1' ? The latter is for PC but if you use, for example, wine, you might not notice the *.exe file (but errors will appear).
Anyway with this patch:

akashic is right. It happened to me too, downloadind the wrong patch. The windows patch is 14 MB of size and the mac version is 292 MB. Be careful with that.
Surely everybody know this but, you need to install the game first in order to be able to path it to the v1.1. So run the game installer, it must create an folder in the "Applications" directory. THEN, run the patch -the .dmg file, not .exe, and it will prompt for the directory where the game is installed. You know, point it to Applications/Guitar Hero III and you will be able to continue the patching process.
After that, do the same with the crack that will ask for the same directory and its done.
Its pretty easy to try.

Too quick on writing posts - game doesn't work for me. After update, crack asks for changing permission of the game and then error:
/Applications/Guitar Hero III/Guitar Hero III.app/Contents/MacOS
/Applications/Guitar Hero III/Guitar Hero III.app/Contents/MacOS/Guitar Hero III
Nothing helps. Any other cracks?

Unfortunately I have the same problem as #25, I've tried manually changing the permissions on the files so anyone can write to them them but no dice.

Good news for you folks, found were the problem was
it comes from the permissions
you have to go into the package from guitar hero 3 app (right click on the one with the slash hat and then click on show content)
after that you have to set the permissions from both mac os folder and guitar hero executable to all
then run the crack and it should work
the first mistake i had done was to set the permission to all applied to the guitar hero package (so the one with slash hat)
anyway, get ready to rock now !

Went back to take a look at this today and got it working, I'd changed the permissions on the files so 'everyone' could read and write them, but I'd neglected to change it so that admin could. Admin was set to read only. Hope this helps anyone else struggling.
#31: follow #30's instructions to get into the package, find the mac os folder within it, right click and click 'get info' you'll then be able to change the permissions at the bottom of the window that appears... note you may have to click the lock in the bottom corner and put in your administrator password before you can change them. Then do the same for the guitar hero executable inside that mac os folder. Then apply the patch. Then rock out.

ok..here is my fix for the admin problem. I have had these problems with sims 2, civ IV, and doom 3...
If you are running into problems with admin privileges download Pseudo 1.2.3 at
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9608
or any where you can find it.
Drag-Drop the crack onto Pseudo. Pseudo will ask for you password
Press OK and the modified ipatch will self-open.
install
I have used this on many games with great success.

Having a problem with the nocdcrack. I've done everything it says, changed permissions. I noticed though when I changed the permissions for the GH, in the Mac folder, that the permissions revert back to read only for admin and everyone after I install the patch.

Nevermind, fixed the problem with a much easier one. Read post #7, and delete the spaces. After that, download, run program, all you need to do is drag and drop the application.

Ok so I did thing fine and all is well but when I load a song, right before it starts, my macbook freezes... I dont know what to do. I downloaded the file on my windows and tranfered it over to my macbook and then installed game and patch and crack and now it goes until right before the neck pops up...what should I do?

I've tried changing the resolution to see if it just used a different bit of code but it didn't work. Just google "guitar hero 3 macbook freeze" or "macbook freeze" and you'll find something about it. I'm really ****ed off that it's not working but I know it can so if anyone could help me, CaptainU, iamfiercelion and anyone else with the problem that would really help. And by the way anyone who's wondering you DO NOT need a guitar for it to work. It works perfectly fine with the keyboard. And I even asked an apple online guy and he said you can't use the keyboard javascript:void(0); Please someone who knows this stuff help!!!!!

I'm back.....not with good news....I installed the patch and everything but it freezes even earlier. I didn't try a fresh install of Guitar hero so you can try that and reply but I restarted after I installed the patch and nothing. Now the song doesn't even load. You can try it, maybe Im doing something wrong, so don't give up and keep at least the .Rar file on your hardrive just in case. again here's the link for the mod: good luck and keep searching I know I will be

hey guys..
ive been downloading this for forever and i can finally tell you it works.
summary for installing the prog:
1. download the game, extract
2. download the v1.1 patch (you can choose to upgrade to v1.3) from the aspyr website - mentioned ny akashic in post #20
3. download the crack offered by DsurioN in post #7
4. install the game file, install the patch
5. use the crack file to point to the game directory
6. it really, really should work now
ive also managed to install my wired xbox360 guitar (from the guitar hero 2 gamepack) on my macbook pro.
download the driver here:

(just add "http:" in front of the "//"
the game works awesome with the guitar i **** you not

for all of you that cant figure it out its real easy once you read
1. install the dmg
2. download the patch for the game 1.11
3. open pseudo and drag the no cd crack patcher into psuedo and put your admin password in
4. do the crack by dragging you .app guitar hero 3 into the ipatcher.
5. enjoy

MACBOOK OWNERS, PLEASE, IS IT WORKING?
when I say Macbook, I mean the small ones, with 13 inches.
I downloaded Prey and was freaking excited until I couldn't play it and I then found the following message on the "Read Me" file: "NOTICE: Intel integrated video chipsets are not supported."
So, if the same is valid for Guitar Heroe, please, could somebody let me know that?
6gb is quite a big amount of data for me to keep downloading for nothing :-(.

Worked for me, downloaded the update from the website, then patched from post #7, oh yeah also changed the permissions. Works great! Is it possible to get the online downloads of new songs and such via torrent? That'd be cool. No problem if you can't but.

I finally got my GH3 to work with XBOX wired GH2 guitar.
Just a note/warning to post#68, if you planned to install the XBOX360 Controller driver from //t a t t i e b o g l e.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver
Download and install this version only (if not it will not work and go nuts):
Driver (no Guitar Hero) (disk image) => // f i l e s . t a t t i e b o g l e . n e t/360/360ControllerInstallNoGuitar.dmg
The XBOX360 controller console won't detect the USB guitar but it's perfectly fine. Start GH3 and rock with your guitar!

You need to change the permissions of the files by right clicking the guitar hero 3 app then press show package contents. Once you are in, go to the contents then right click and press get info and change the sharing&permissions to read and write for both the files
