If you think its fake, then dont dl it.
Just go check the afterdawn forum. That other person that i mentioned ended up getting his to work. His first burn was at 1x and it didnt burn right. I reburned it at 2.4x just like I did and his now works, and his methods were identical to mine.
As a matter of fact, it now shows 2 seeders, so I believe he is helping out seeding now too....

You need to burn this with a DVD+R DL(Dual Layer) compatible DVD drive, and with a DVD+R DL disk. Other than that, it work as well as any other downloaded game, as the Wii can handle DL disks.

Although I haven't downloaded the game yet, I'd thought I would say a few things.
First off as people have mentioned you need a Dual Layer Disk and the appropriate burner to get this working. Secondly, please seed once you have finished to help other people.
To the person who asked about how the Wii will read it, upon inserting the game your Wii should auto update, and this is a must for the game to work. I highly doubt if its even possible to brick your Wii.
For the mods, some may not work like the Wiikey (they may require a firmware update) while some newer chips like the D2Pro and Argon may already work.

i should say that i believe is this the legit SSBB NTSC-USA, since i got the NTSC-JP version the same way, (and "YES", the JP version was dual layer too and it worked just great) But there is just one (1) seed, come on people, START SEEDING!!!

Also while you downloading this game, you can get Wii Dual Layer Testing Utility now to test your Wii first. Here's the tips -
"Burn the tool on a regular 4.7GB DVD, you'll be able to swap with you test DL DVD afterwards.
The tool reads some data on disc at address 2'684'354'560 (first layer), and then some more at address 5'368'709'120 (second layer). So you should make sure that there is enough data on your disc. If possible, pad it to 8'539'996'160 bytes, which is the maximum capacity of DVD9 discs.
You can also use video DVD for the test, but make sure they contain at least 6-7 GB of data"

The game will almost certainly require you to update your Wii. This update enables your Wii to read dual layered disks, and is a must for all regions. It wont brick your Wii.

Does this have any firmware that would brick a PAL console, I know that the Japanese version that's available has a reuirement for an update first but I think that's only to enable the console to read dual layered discs, and it adds extra news and weather channels, is it anything like that for the US version or will this brick my PAL console?

Ppl listen to me, this is the real NTSC-USA version of SSBB i tried it already as i said before, it wont brick you NTSC wii, and even if it were a JAP wii would brick it. PAL wiis sorry i have no answer for you haven't tried yet, but i think the 10-15% trick would work for you guys.
it has an update but is same to everyone to run it (not tried on pal yet), but be sure to have the lastest firmware before making the update.

The reason there is only one seeder is because, well, there physically IS only one seeder... ME, lol. I ripped the disk and upped it. so until sombody else downloads it to 100%, there wont be another seeder.
Also, this game is ABSOLUTELY NOT patched to JP region as you stated for some reason. I went to walmart last night and bought the NTSC-U version of the game at 12:01. I then personally ripped it with friidump040-w32 (took roughly 10hrs) then burned the img file with IMGBURN and tested it and found it worked perfectly... after playing the game for an hr or so (hey..its fun lol) I then created this torrent... so if its patched to JP, then it came that way FROM nintendo. Furthurmore, how could you know how its patched since not a single person has downloaded it from me to 100% (or even close) yet?

Yes, you must update to 3.2 before the game will work... So once you get the game and burn it with IMGBURN just follow these steps.

heres the basic steps I did.
Turn on wii.
get to channels screen.
Put in backup copy of game.
Game will not load.
Went to mail and clicked the little letter about there being the 3.2 update out.
Clicked update in that message, the update ran and the wii reset.
Once it booted back to the channels screen and now instead of nothing in the game channel, "system update" or something to that effect is displayed in the game channel.

Click game channel and it says that "in order to play this game you must update" so I clicked and proceeded with the update. The progress bar moved quickly and it was all done in about 30secs. The wii then soft reset again, and booted to the channel screen again, but this time SSBB was in the game channel. started the game, got the black screen where you setup the gamesave file, then it went to a white screen (like happened to the other guy) and it sat there for maybe 8seconds and then proceeded to the opening cinema...then another 8sec white sceen and I was at the opening screen where you choose what type of battle (vs or single or mission, etc)

1) i have a USA NTSC wii with wiikey
2) i downloaded the japnaese backup of ssbb both the 4.7gb one layer and the 8gb double layer one i did an update both from the ssbb and the system(3.2u) but in order to let the 8gb ssbb dvd to work i had to insert the 4.7gb ssbb then load it till the main screen then swap it with the 8gb ssbb but when i just insert the 8gb ssbb without putting the 4.7gb it shows the ssbb screen but doesnt load it.
my question is am i able to play this english backup of ssbb 8gb without having the 4.7 single layer dvd of this game

There is NO possible way you could have downloaded my copy of the game from me in this torrent already. NO way. The game is 7.9GB and I am only seeding at my max upload of 120KB/s. Do the math! Actually, if you do the math, it could take as little as 19.2 hours in order for you to seed the whole thing when everyone is uploading to each other while still downloading.

I started downloading about an hour after it was uploaded.
I'm at 4.1%, connected to 0 seeds and 70 peers, downloading at 12.8kb/s, and upping at 24kb/s.
...and you're downing at 200kb/s?!
Maybe because you're not that far into the torrent, and there are lots of peers that have the parts that you need, but as you get further into the torrent you'll slow down to my speed? I don't know. lol.

At this stage, your download speed is greatly dependant on your upload speed. If your max upload speed is around 24 kB/s, then 12.8 kB/s for a download speed is expected. I am fluctuating between 50-70 kB/s for my download speed with a max upload speed of only around 50 kB/s.

Notice how the availability (for uTorrent users, all of that red in the bar) is only around 0.213. It won't be until the whole thing has been seeded enough for that availability to be 1.000 that there will be enough of the file to go around and the download speeds start going up. For those who have 200+ kB/s download speeds, those will dive down to the single digits once they pass the 21.3%(right now) mark.

Don't update your Wii's firmware with a newer out of region firmware.In all probability it will semi-brick(less functions)until you can update with an equal or newer correct region firmware.

Also, what command line and options did you use for Friidump??
I used friidump -d driveletter -a
is that ok? I'm dumping my game right now, slowly but surely... but I dunno if I input the right cmd line options or not.. plus im not sure on how to burn it.

friidump command line is correct. Thats just what I used. And no it did not specify a layerbreak. My IMGBURN settings have always been default. Im using version 2.3.2.0 personally. Not sure if it makes a difference, but if you want to get that exact version to be on the safe side, you can

I've found the best DVD Rom readers for dumping Wii games are the LG GDR series.
The older GDR-8161 and GDR-8162 are the fastest while the GDR-8163 and GDR-8164 are much slower.
The newest GDR's that use the SATA,GDR-H10 and GDR-H30 interface don't seem to be as reliable as the older E-IDE.Firmware version of these drives is critical.

Modchip are specific to the chip that is on the Wii's DVD drive's mainboard.
If your Wii was made within the last 6 months or so then it has the D2C Panasonic chip.This means a more complicated modchip and soldering.
IMO the combination of the D2CKey modchip with the flex adapter is best cuurrently.The flex adapter reduces the wires needed from 31 to 2,a 3.3 volt power and a ground between the mainboard and modchip.

1) i have a USA NTSC wii with wiikey
2) i downloaded the japnaese backup of ssbb both the 4.7gb one layer and the 8gb double layer one i did an update both from the ssbb and the system(3.2u) but in order to let the 8gb ssbb dvd to work i had to insert the 4.7gb ssbb then load it till the main screen then swap it with the 8gb ssbb but when i just insert the 8gb ssbb without putting the 4.7gb it shows the ssbb screen but doesnt load it.
my question is am i able to play this english backup of ssbb 8gb without having the 4.7 single layer dvd of this game

there is a program called trucha singer, that lets you modify wii back-ups, any problem like taking out the famous protection of Mario Galaxy can be solved. You can read more about this in: http://www.elotrolado.net/foro_Wii_154

Open IMGBURN, select to write iso to DVD, select DVD9, click in TOOLS, SETTINGS->Write->Layer Break->User specified and type 2084960. Burn the DVD.

There are a few, but at 92.3% your probably better off waiting for the seeders to connect to you... The other ones I saw aren't much better TBH. Please, if you have already completed the DL then keep seeding. Torrents are about sharing, not just taking.

I think I may have found a solution....
I was stuck at 92.3% with fluctuating speeds of 0-1kb/s
I found another torrent, on mininova... the one from bittorment
its also the ISO file, same size as this one we're downloading
but it has something like 30 seeds!!!
So basically, I copy pasted my original file im downloading, put it in another folder, and directed the bittorment torrent to it. It did the hash check and it downloading! 62kbps, not the greatest, but will def finish way way faster
weird thing is that it started dling around 85%, but it successfully did the hash check and the iso file size was the same
I suggest others try

I'm seeing 28 seeds, but not connected to any of them. Most of them are not connected to the tracker for some reason so the only way to see them is to enable peer exchange. In uTorrent this is done by going to:
options->preferences->bit torrent
It's one of the check boxes in the middle. Maybe if people start to see these seeds some of us can finally finish the torrent and we'll have more seeds!!!!

Seed till at the absolute least a share ratio of 1.000, if everyone does that the torrent can sustain itself. If you're nice though, you'll leave it on for a while. At least when your asleep
Either way, I still gotta pick up some DL dvds so if I finish today or tomorrow morning doesn't make a big diff. They're so expensive!

For those who would like to know:
The Argon w/ 1.8 Firmware plays this disc without a problem.
i used 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL (made in singapore) burnt at 2.4x and using the layer break method w/ imgburn that is found all over the internet. I'm not sure if it will work w/out the layer break but it sure did *with* it.
I'm usina NTSC-U Wii w/ 3.2U on it. I had previously run the update w/ the Japanese release so I have duplicate channels.

I've heard it's not necessary, but considering the price of dual layer dvds you may wanna do it anyways. In imgburn there should be a setting called layer break, just set that to the right value (I think a few people posted it here and its posted around other sites too)

Can someone give me advice on burning on a Mac? I have a DL burner, but I keep getting errors burning using Disk Utility and winding up with coasters.
I have Toast, but I'm getting strange problems with that too--I'm telling it to Burn Data, choosing ISO, and choosing the SSBB iso file. It asks me if I'm sure it's a valid disk image (I say yes). Then it asks me about pre-gaps and post-gaps (???)--I leave that as it is and hit ok. Then when I hit the red button for it to burn, it tells me "CD-ROM XA or Audio tracks cannot be written to DVD." Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Also, I can't find anywhere to set a manual layer break--not sure if this is a problem.

My Wii is NTSC 3.0U, will i be able to run the disc? Or do i need to update it? Because i don't have my Wii connected to internet
Another thing, so I just download it and burn it and that's it? Or do i have to something to the .ISO
PS: I soon as i finish i'll start seeding. I'm 71%

I would update via internet, go to a friends house if you don't have internet.
make sure wiikey is at 1.9g

works with ntsc 3.2U , wiikey 1.9g , verbatim DVD-R DL , 4X with imgburn no layerbreak(wiikey only suggested) everyone else should use layerbreak 2084960
change it in imgburn: tools> settings> write > options, user specified

Confirmed working on an NTSC (3.1U) wii with a wiikey (1.9g) using imgburn, memorex DVD+R DL disks. One thing I haven't seen posted here that seemed to be the key to get mine working is that in addition to setting the layer split point as has been mentioned above, you need to set the write mode to Incremental instead of DAO. I burned at 4x (using 8x media).

The update is just so your Wii can read dual layer games. You should be fine without it, but maybe not.

I have a wii with a d2c mod chip and it works wonderfully!! As soon as it finished downloading I burnt it with a Memorex DL DVD+R disc at max speed which ended up being 4x and it works!!! No flaws!
It comes with the update on the disc so you don't need to be connected to the internet.

guys i didnt install wiikey update 1.9b before but my wii system is 3.2u and i have already installed wiikey update 1.9g and was able to play the japanese backup of ssbb both the 4.7 single layer and the 8gb DL after swapping it with the 4.7 one
my question is do i have to install the wiikey update 1.9b cuz i didnt need it for any games so far
