You need to mount the images using software like Alcohol, Daemon Tools, CloneCD or my personal favorite: PowerISO. Or you can burn the images to real CDs using, for instance, Nero. After that, the Install CD has autorun, so you just follow the menu...
Any more doubts? Just ask.

hey! ^_^ i'm downloading the torrent file now.
is it supposed to download so slowly?
4.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 14 2008 at 20:53
I'm uploading right now. It goes slow because most people who finished downloading did not share... I'm sorry, but this is the way some people use BT.
Anyway, I'm not sure that is what you asked... if you download the .torrent at low speed... well, that's Mininova's... nothing I can do to help.

yeah you answered my question, thanks.
so is this PC version exactly like the PS1 version?
6.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 15 2008 at 05:50
As far as I know, yes. I didn't finish the PSX version, so I couldn't tell you for sure. But as far as I got into the story, it remains exactly the same.

ok cool.
but AGH! i'm having a problem.
i have PowerISO (unregistered) and i installed the game (took me forever to mount).
but i cant seem to mount the FFV7DISK1. i'm doing everything right. I selected the drive and clicked mount went to the file and i opened FF7DISK1 but it's not doing anything. i've been doing this for about... 2 or 3 hours now...
any advice??
8.Posted by ridgeraver on Mar 16 2008 at 01:54
yeah it finished this morning. I got it to mount.
i realized it wasn't the ISO the problem was my exterior hard-drive that i had saved it in.
but now that thats fixed... i installed it and mounted the rest of the CDS. but how do i run the game?? it keeps saying to add the 1, 2, or 3rd disk.
sorry if i seem like a bother. this is the first time i ever do anything like this.
9.Posted by ridgeraver on Mar 16 2008 at 02:37
nvm... i got it running.
but still i have a problem.
i dont know the controls... =-(
10.Posted by ridgeraver on Mar 16 2008 at 04:52
n/m i found out... kinda hard to do it on my laptop...
but yeah... how do i make it read the disk???
when i hit new game it says Please Insert disk 1.
how do i fix this?
11.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 16 2008 at 05:25
You need to have CD1 mounted to start a new game. Regarding the controls, if your laptop does not have a numeric keypad, you gonna have some trouble when changing names. There is a fix for that, but I'm not sure if it was on the 1.02 patch or if you need another patch just for this. I played it in a desktop, so I did not pay much attention to it. Controls are not very handy as they come. I strongly suggest you change them to your preferred config.

12.Posted by ridgeraver on Mar 17 2008 at 00:49
damn.... thats not working either.
i have it mounted, but now it wont even play the intro or take me to the main menu.
... this is becoming a pain...
13.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 17 2008 at 04:55
You might wanna try applying official patch 1.02, if your VGA is nVidia. That is one of the things that may cause the intro to fail.
The other thing is the codec that is needed to play all the videos in the game. Have you installed it? You have the option in the autorun menu.
Well... there is a third option, the way I see it: if you are under Window$ Vista... I don't think it'll work. Try and tell me.

how do i mount disc 1 with new game. im using alcohol 120%
i dont understand
and replace the following files with "eidoslogo.avi". You will have to copy this file somewhere else and rename it to each of these filenames:
biglight.avi
ending1.avi
greatpit.avi
last4_4.avi
also when i add the movies to my harddrive should i make each disc there own folder or add all the movie files to 1 folder.
15.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 17 2008 at 19:23
No. All the files shoulg go to the same folder.
It is not hard to mount an image. Check Alcohol help if you can't manage to do it. I don't remember the exact procedure, but I'm sure you can right click the virtual drive or the image and you will have an option to mount it.
The thing is those four videos are damaged. You should replace them with another one which is working. I chose "eidoslogo.avi" because it's short and won't be confusing. You will know, when that video shows at the middle of the game, that something is wrong. You should do this:
1.- Copy the file named "eidoslogo.avi" to some place else.
2.- Rename it to "biglight.avi".
3.- Copy this file to the movies folder, replacing the old "biglight.avi" with the new one you've just created.
4.- Repeat steps 2-3 for each of the other three video files I've told you.

What I forgot to put on "Instructions.txt" is that a little regedit help is needed.
Open regedit.exe and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII"
Locate the key named "MoviePath" and change it's value to wherever you put your movie files. If you followed my recommendation, it should be "%Programfiles%\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies".
There are a lot of regedit tutorials over there... don't edit your registry unless you know what you do. Read if you are not sure.

17.Posted by Hitsugaya_11095 on Mar 18 2008 at 00:03
i dont get what u mean by change vaule to wherever you put your movie files
18.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 02:40
Change the value to this: "%Programfiles%\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies" if there is where you copied movie files to. If you copied movie files from CDs to "C:\movies", then that is what you should replace it's value with.
I mean: the value for the key "MoviePath" should be equal to the path of the folder where you stored the movie files. Yo can leave all that untouched and play movies from CD. But whenever the game will try to play one of the files I mentioned, it might crash. You can, of course, wait until that happens and then edit registry. Hope this helps.

whats a value??? and the instructions are really complicated
21.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 04:20
In my previous comment it was more clear what I was talking about. I meant the value of the MoviePath key. In the Window$ registry. I assumed you would have some basic technical knowledge.
If you can't edit registry, or can't copy -> paste files, or can't even recognize a video file... then you probably shouldn't download this.
Look for FFVII Ultima Edition. There you will find the game, easier to play. No complications. No videos, I believe, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Sorry

25.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 06:18
When the game asks you to insert CD 1, 2 or 3, just mount the corresponding image to the virtual drive. Or insert the CD if you burnt the images.
The thing is those four videos are damaged. You should replace them with another one which is working. I chose "eidoslogo.avi" because it's short and won't be confusing. You will know, when that video shows at the middle of the game, that something is wrong. You should do this:

2.- Rename it to "biglight.avi".
3.- Copy this file to the movies folder, replacing the old "biglight.avi" with the new one you've just created.
4.- Repeat steps 2-3 for each of the other three video files I've told you.
See? You don't have to rename anything to "eidoslogo.avi", but viceversa.
And no, you can play in XP.

26.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 15:48
I don't think you can play on a window, but maybe there is a patch for that. Google for it. You can change controls by going to <Menu><Config>. You will need to patch the numpad issue for the name changing to work.
27.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 15:58
Mount again the install disc and hit the Install Movie Player option. That should do the trick. Let me know if something new comes along.

Have you installed the 1.02 patch? I so, open FF7 Configuration from start menu programs, and select the option to play with a TNT VGA. Tham might solve it. Let me know the result.

29.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 18:19
nVidia cards fail 8-bit textures. You should check the NVIDIA option in the Graphics tab and select TNT as the GPU. Try ir and let me know.

yes but i'm earning informations from every where, it appears to come from an incompatibility with OS Windows XP, i need to find a patch to play FF7 with this windows XP
34.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Mar 18 2008 at 19:15
1.02 is the last official patch. It IS compatible with XP. I have Window$ XP and have played the game without problems. I would suggest you try installing previos video card drivers. If you have those that came with the card, try them. Maybe latest versions have issues when playing old games. I had that problem once, with FFVII, so give old drivers a try if you ran out of options.

Yes, you can replace the videos with the same one if you have it. I did not do it because I was short on time, sorry.
Use a registered version of PowerISO or try another software. I'm in a hurry right now, but I'm back home, so I will be here more often these days.

This comment was posted by pwn312 on another FFVII torrent and it worked like a charm for me. I did however have the 1.4 patch already installed (google it):
For those of you with blackout problems, for those who fire up the game only to hear the mocking call of the SquareSoft logo specifically, I shall be your savior. The problem lies in the video codecs you have installed on your computer. Chances are you may have installed something like K-Lite at some point in time. These codecs actually interfere with those that come with the game.
85.Posted by Ramiriquez on Mar 31 2008 at 00:05
However, fear not my fellow seeders and seederettes! The solution lies within this download here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm . Download ACE Mega Codecs after the jump, run it, then during the installation you will reach a place where you can select which codecs to install. Make sure "TrueMotion2 video decoder 2.0.6.2b", under "FilterS" is checked. If you choose proffesional installation it will automatically check the box if you do not wish to search for it. Once installation is finished, restart your computer and fire up FFVII. Behold! Your troubles are no more!

You don't need to download no codec pack. Video codecs are included in the install CD.

93.Posted by Ramiriquez on Apr 01 2008 at 13:06
Video Codecs may be included in the torrent, and thanks very much for it by the way, but those people who have installed ceratin other codec packs (e.g. K-Lite) may find that these automatically override the elements that come with the torrent. I'm merely stating how I got it to work as it appears I had the same problem as a lot of people. Cheers for the up Sagus.

http://btjunkie.org/torrent/PowerISO-v3-8-keygen-serials/2908222f88afa182a61b6e587a46474f88b2fb4d7a0a
this is where you can get the 2nd latest version of PowerISO. with a passcode generater. Really great. with this you can edit ISO files w/o restrictions. once your done with that come back.

You may be right. I didn't notice any problems, anyway, and I have both FFVII and K-Lite Codec Pack installed.
In any case, I would try to reinstall codecs provided with the game before any other codec pack.
But I guess if that helped you get the game running, that is all that matters.
If you need any help, just ask. Many people will be able to give you advice.

Run FF7Config.exe and select nVidia card, TNT chipset. That if you have installed 1.02 patch. Otherwise, install it first.
That should solve the black background problem.

Damn, im at the shinra tower thing tryin to save aeries what ever her name is, and after i climb up each and everydamn starcase, it says it has encountered a problem with ff7.exe
and when you mean,
Copy the movies in each of the CDs to the hard drive (Recommended: %Programfiles%\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies) and replace the following files with "eidoslogo.avi". You will have to copy this file somewhere else and rename it to each of these filenames:
biglight.avi
ending1.avi
greatpit.avi
last4_4.avi
i dont really get what you mean.what im guessing is that: i get that eidoslogo.avi movie thing and make 4 eidoslogo.avi movies, replacing biglight, ending1, greatpit, and last4_4??? Please comment ASAP PLEASE ff7 is my lyfe
99.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Apr 02 2008 at 01:04
Yes, that is exactly what you were sopposed to do. Make four copies of eidoslogo.avi, and rename each copy to one of those other filenames. But if you read all the comments, you will find links to the real, uncorrupted videos, so you can replace them.
Also, when you change the value in the registry, remember to add "\" at the end of the path. (%Programfiles%\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies\).
The problem with ff7.exe must be random, try again, it should work well.

smiles18324pk: The game lets you start a new game. Just use the numeric keypad and enter.
Chang_Kho: Can't help you. I saw Window$ Vi$ta from far away and decided it didn't suit me. I leave Vi$ta problems to those who did not have a choice. This is an old game, maybe some other people who is actually using Vi$ta might be able to help you.
In the meantime, check if the file windows\repair\config.nt exists, and copy it to system32 folder. I know this file disappearing used to happen in XP.

StabbingRetar: Don't know why you keep getting that error message. The game is known to have this kinda issues with XP, but I haven't seen it crashing so many times in the same situation. Apply patch 1.02 if you haven't, then keep trying until you get it done. Or you can wait for a solution, maybe someone knows how to deal with this.
The thing with the videos starts at CD2. There are a few corrupted files from disk2 and 3. I got them corrupted and made the torrent without replacing them with good, working ones. The game will freeze when playing the corrupted video file. So you better replace them.

118.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Apr 05 2008 at 03:45
No, it can't be fixed. Todays VGA cards do not support 8-bit textures. See comment 98 to solve the problem. Chances are you might have other video codecs installed that might cause this to happen.

I am using Vista, and instead of trying to change the file names I just ignored it... but I think that the problem is that It isn't creating a movies folder in program files, but is pretending the movies are on the CD image. ( I got to one of the corrupted video's and it crashed) I am going to download another CD image to try and get it to work. I will tell you if it works. Has anyone else run into this problem or am I just not following directions like I should...
126.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Apr 07 2008 at 07:46
145: No, you are not following instructions like you should. You had to copy all the movies to your hard drive, edit the registry, and replace corrupted videos. The game does not create a movie in the hard drive for the movies by itself.
146: Have you done as said in comment #98 to solve the blackout issue? If you open any video file from the game with any video player... can you see the movie? But, before all that, have you installed movie player from install CD?

This might help with the videos not showing:
Run configuration utility, select NVidia card, TNT chipset.
Uninstall any codec pack you might have installed.
My last choice is to use older drivers for VGA card. It happened to me, when I updated NVidia drivers, that this game started to have some video problems, though I cannot remember what those problems were. I went back to original drivers and it came back to normal.

For the config.nt file:
This file is supposed to bring backwards compatibility in newer systems. It's meant to act as old config.sys. It is not used by the system itsel, but to run older programs.
Couldn't find a copy of the file on the web, but I'm sure there's got to be one somewhere... I'm running XP so can't help you with that. But it is just a text file, if someone could post its contents, you should be able to create a copy.

It might... anyway, for all those of you who can't see the intro video and do not hear sound either, try hitting keys to see if you can skip it. If you can, go regedit and add a "\" to the end of the MoviePath, or check it's written correctly.

Once you have downloaded the .torrent file, open it with a BitTorrent client. Here you have two options, although there are many others:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
(Probably the best BT client ever developed. At least it is the most complete)
http://www.utorrent.com/
(Lightweight BT client. Doesn't have many features, but it is simple and works well in most cases)
To know what an image is check this:

Then go to google and type in your question or even a word like ISO and if you still don't understand read it again, and if you don't have the appropriate progam then google it, if you still have no idea how to install it or mount an ISO then you fail and should just quit, and never ever try to download another game...ever. Being a **** is not being new to something, being a **** is a disease caused by low IQ and laziness, if you don't know how to mount a simple ISO then don't download a ****ing ISO and then ask a million questions about how to mount it. Why you ask am I so angry? Because every single time I come to download something and look at the comments for something about the game all I see are ***** asking **** questions that should never even be asked.

#226: If you have an image mounted and it says "Insert X CD" it is because you have the wrong image mounted. This game has no CD protection, so you don't need a crack.
#227: The new official patches are just the config utility and the game exe. Just overwrite those in the game folder, and then run FF7Config. Unofficial patches should have instructions, or you can Google them.
#228: I totally agree with you, but your kind of comment does not help at all.

When I clicked on the "ff7" button, it says that I have to put cd 1,2, or 3 but actually I have burned the file into a cd...
How can I solve that problem?
Thx...

Hi,
The game is working fine for me except that when I defeat Dyne, I can't start the chocobo race. A dialog box appears saying that FFVII has encountered an error and needs to shut down...I installed the mgp patch, but I get the feeling that was only to slow down the mini game...my problem is that the minigame won't even start.

Hi.
When I start up the game I'm asked to insert CD. I've tried mounting all 4 CDs in DaemonTools, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

I've got a problem, the game runs waaaaay too slow, which is weird, because i've got a good Pc and it runs FF8 smoothly, what could be the problem please??
203.Posted by onearmedcory on May 08 2008 at 09:21
First of all thank you, and I see what an excellent job you're doing as an uploader maintaining your upload.
My problem is that as soon as I I click Play FFVII my computer turns black, as though a game was about to load, then my computer immediately restarts.
No other comflict or freeze causes my comp to restart (or even freeze) this smooothly, and it seems bizarre to me.
I am an experienced rom and torrent user; I have carefully read your previous comments, followed your instructions carefully, and I have in the past fixed on my own problems with any other downloaded games. I have an Nvidia card, but I have applied the patch.
If you have encoutered this prob before and can explain , it would be greatly appreciated if you could impart yout advice,
cheers

Ok Sagus,
I've installed the game and the XP patch by the way thank you so much for uploading for all us leechers. I have one problem that I just can't figure out on my own, when I get to the first motorcycle mini game (which still runs to fast despite the patch) I get a message stating to put the disk 1 in, even if I dismount and remount the iso image with PowerISO, and it takes then I get a encounter error, and I end up fighting a giant pyramid instead of the bird looking robot, if I beat it then I end up on the world map on an island that I literally can't move off of in the upper northwest corner of the map. Please any help would be appreciated.

First of all thx for uploading this
My problem seems to be different; game loads up fine, I see the menu of continue or new game. I choose new game, I see the intro movie (with the stars, the girl and the train), then it just goes dark and I hear sounds of slashing and punching. Then after several seconds, appears a blue box which reads something like "hello stranger, follow me". When I click numpad enter, it dissapears and everything is dark and unresponsive again.
I tried running it with the original installation, 1.02 patch, winXP patch from http://www.ffrebirth.com/ff7/ff7-xppatch.php, all achieve the same result.
I'm running windows XP with an ATI X1900 GFX card.

Post 258: XD Actually if people that don't know how to regedit they might do irreparable harm to their computer, again my advice would be that all that DO NOT know how to install this program to get the easier one located here:
http://www.mininova.org/com/1042335
You only need to mount it once using PowerISO, then after it installs you only need to click on the shortcut on your desktop, and poof whallah it works....
219.Posted by Inferniac on May 17 2008 at 09:34
Post 259:Yes,I suppose you're right about the regedit thing, but as long as people follow a few simple instructions they should be fine...And it's not that there weren't instructions here...

#243: I have no idea. Never seen that with FFVII.
#245: If I remember correctly, that should be the island that requires you to get the golden chocobo to get to. I think you got Knights of Round materia from there... but I don't know why you got teleported there...
Anyways, I can help with torrent, installation, game and/or Window$ issues. For gameplay help, check out any of the thousands of FFVII forums out there.

Thanks for the game, Sagus. One quick problem: after a lot of work with codecs, etc. I was finally able to get the game to play correctly with the movies. However, once I got to the Cosmo Canyon planetarium scene, my game does something weird. The movies play fine, but after the movie with the meteors going into the black hole, the game stops progressing. The music keeps on going, but it just shows the four characters sitting around in the planetarium doing nothing. I don't think it's the movie files being corrupt or anything because I've tried switching the movies to the eidoslogo.avi file, and they play correctly, but it still gets stuck in the same place. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!

I have some weird problems too. Once i start up the game after pressing new game, I get the intro movie, but after that everything is black. All I see is the chatbox from barret. Then I have to fight 2 soldiers and then all the sudden I can see! But then there is the wrong music. After defeating the soldiers the battle music plays and it does not stop. So it's the wrong music. Anyone know what to do? It is patched with patch 1.02 and some other patches form anwser #73.
234.Posted by DNAxSUICIDE on May 26 2008 at 23:34
Nvm,found out it was the correct music. It still does not show the intro, but after my first battle (which I start while I can't see a thing) the music kicks in and there seem to be no more problems.

I have a new problem that i have not seen yet. When I start playing, the intro movie with the stars is upside down and then when the game actualyl starts it corrects is self and then shortly after encounters an error and closes out. I don't think i did the movies right and i also did not have a file named regedit.exe for the movies so i just put them in my data folder in the actual game folder.

Mounting any of the CDs with Daemon Tools Lite has no effect on the "Please Insert Disc 1" message when starting a new game for me. There's also apparently no working 1.02 cracks out there. I did remove the startup check("Please Insert Disc 1,2,3"
but I couldn't find the others
Could someone who's gotten this to run without CDs tell me what they did and what virtual drive they're using?

I decided to download the ultima version because i didnt want to have to deal with all of the troubles this version has, i just wanted to play. As i was looking through the ultima version's folder i saw the movies folder, and it occurred to me, could you use the movies from the ultima edition in this one to replace the broken movies? Also, will all of the high res patches work for the ultima edition, it the above does not work?
253.Posted by materiamagnet on Jun 11 2008 at 21:30
Thanks to the uploader it works
No virus etc If your ever in england I'll buy you a beer.304 I mounted the images with deamon tools light. When you have instaled the game you need to mount ffdisk1 not setupexe.disk one is in ffcd2 folder once mounted just start the game with the ff7.exe,and run the game as administrator.I'm using vista and running in compatability mode.
254.Posted by DNAxSUICIDE on Jun 11 2008 at 22:44
Yes, i know all that. But there nr. 302/303 got it to work without cd's apparently. That's all what I want to know. And ofcourse how to get an image when exiting the gold saucer air train thingy!
255.Posted by Rufi65 on Jun 12 2008 at 00:53
It worked, as far as I know the videos from the Ultima Edition worked for this one. Now I just keep crashing during the first unavoidable fight after I get off the train. I also can't get the high res patch to work.

Hi, first of all thank you for uploading this game! But I have a problem, I tried to use the mgp patch to solve the Chocobo Race problem but it didn't work, so I downloaded the FF7 XP patch but it still crashes
My question is: where EXACTLY do I install the patch for the chocobo race?
257.Posted by Rufi65 on Jun 12 2008 at 04:48
I almost have this working, I have just a few problems. My first problem is when I play the game with the file ff7.exe it doesn't work, I hear sound and then just blackness. When I use the mgp patch that came with this, it works, up until the very first fight off the train. I never actually replaced the corrupted videos, i just used the ones from the ultima version. I dont know if that is the problem with my crashes or not. The crashes are not random either, they crash every single time during the very first fight.

265.Posted by Rufi65 on Jun 16 2008 at 18:05
Darkstar, are you mounting to a virtual drive? If so, don't. Try mounting to a CD, and see if that works, that is what i had to do. Also, if that does not work, try using a different software to mount the image, try using alcohol 120%. For vista, try running in incompatibility mode, I'm not sure how to do that, I don't have vista. I just read a comment saying that someone fixed the problems with vista by doing this.

ok friends, Ive been reading this discussion for awhile, but i cant find an answer to my question.
I got the game to work initially - it installed fine, disk 1 started working, etc, etc. Good times.
But now, each time i open the program, it crashes. Also, each time i mount a disk to a virtual drive, it just opens the file folder where the disk image is located; it doesnt 'play disk', it just shows me the content of the disk.
Does anyone have any idea what i should do? Ive tried both power ISO and Daemon and i just cant make this magic happen.
Help?

hey im another user at the biglight video. I understand that its a corrupted video or whatever and i need to switch it out for another, and i also understand that i have to do this regedit.exe thing to change the movie path but i dont know how, so if someone could help me with that thatd be a great help. also i think its gay that this thing is sooo ****ing complicated, and that were told if we dont know anything about computers or regedit we shouldnt bother downloading this even though i didnt realize i couldnt keep playing till im 10 hours into the game.

I’m sure people won’t want to read the 300++ comments up there so I compiled the steps I did to play the game! Hope you guys find it useful!
Instructions:
1) Mounting the CDs
-download software such as poweriso, daemon, alcohol and mount your images
-if not you can burn images into a cd with software like nero.
2) Installation of game
-firstly, do NOT install DirectX 5, DirectShow, or the Yamaha Synthesiser.
instead, download the latest DirectX if you dont have it.
-choose maximum installation
3) Patches
[patches available in the torrent are the ff7 v1.02 xp patch, the high res patcher and the mini-games patch]
*follow the instructions in these links!
MUST-USE PATCHES: the ff7 v1.02 xp patch, chocobo patch and mini-games patch.

4) Video Problems (part2)
-as for the damaged videos, they are:
biglight.avi [in disc 2]
ending1.avi [in disc 2]
greatpit.avi [under ‘cloud vs. sephiroth’ in disc 3]
last4_4.avi [under ‘enter the crater’ in disc 3]
you can download them from these sites:
http://fmv.thehylia.com/final-fantasy-7-disk-2
http://fmv.thehylia.com/final-fantasy-7-disk-3
I didn’t really understand the copying of movies and blahblah, so instead I replaced the damaged videos with my downloaded ones and copied all movies from all 3 discs into one main folder in the ff7 installation directory under a new folder which I named movies. Then I regedit the Windows registry : Start – run – type REGEDIT – go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\ - change “MoviePath” to where you placed your movies folder. It should look something like this:
D:\Games\Final Fantasy VII\movies\

aye! no prob! hope you're able to play the game successfully yupp! (:

Thanks in advance

289.Posted by SkyPioneer on Jul 03 2008 at 08:41
It should do the same thing although I would recommend mounting it instead.
Now I have my own problem, I hope you can help me.
Using Shinobixi's excellent guide, I have gotten the game to run. I got through the first cut scene fine, then after it the background goes black and only people are visible. I did as you said and I walked forward into a fight, then after the naming scene, everything was STILL black, and I couldn't find my way around, rendering the game almost useless.
I installed the nVidia TNT patch (aka v.1.02) and I have set it to use nVidia TNT. I am running it on a laptop with Vista, but that shouldn't pose a problem because the game is running fine so far.
Thanks.

VIDEO PROBLEMS]
Copy the movies in each of the CDs to the hard drive
(Recommended: %Programfiles%\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies)
and replace the following files with "eidoslogo.avi".
You will have to copy this file somewhere else and rename it to each of these filenames:
biglight.avi
ending1.avi
greatpit.avi
last4_4.avi
i dont have a location - Final Fantasy VII\data\movies
i have -
Final Fantasy VII\data\battle
Final Fantasy VII\data\cd
Final Fantasy VII\data\kernel
Final Fantasy VII\data\menu
Final Fantasy VII\data\midi
Final Fantasy VII\data\music
Final Fantasy VII\data\sound
Final Fantasy VII\data\wm
can you explain to me like you would a child.
I mean where is there a "eidoslogo.avi" anywhere really need help please
291.Posted by pollington1335 on Jul 04 2008 at 08:18
what file/files do I rename "eidoslogo.avi"
as i sad im thick and just dont get what you mean. sorry.
292.Posted by Draconyite on Jul 04 2008 at 10:01
Pollington, here's what you have to do:
Go to My Computer > right click the disk you have mounted > explore > ff7 > data > movies. Copy all the movies to a new folder in your main FFVII folder called "movies".
Copy "eidoslogo.avi" into a new folder four times (into the same folder). Rename each one of those files to the names of the four movies that are listed. Copy those four movies back into the movie folder you created earlier and overwrite the old ones.
Next: go to regedit under the run command. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Square Soft, Inc.>Final Fantasy VII. Edit the MoviePath data to match the folder location where you stored the movies.
293.Posted by pollington1335 on Jul 04 2008 at 16:34
there isnt a file path ff7\data\movies it is not there, non existant i dont know what files im supposed to be copying. there is no movie directory for me to copy anything from

well that was a constructive comment
296.Posted by SkyPioneer on Jul 05 2008 at 01:23
You're not wrong there.
Pollington, I said it before, there is not movies folder, YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT.
When you have, copy all the videos out of the movie folder from .iso into the folder you made, and then copy out eideslogo 4 times, and rename 3 of them to the broken videos.
There.
297.Posted by pollington1335 on Jul 05 2008 at 02:00

298.Posted by shinobixi on Jul 06 2008 at 18:53
@pollington1335: read comment #346 and follow the instructions. i do believe my instructions are pretty clear. (:
@skypioneer: im no computer expert so i dont think i'll be able to solve your problem. buuuut, there are plenty of ff7 problem solvers down at qhimm forums, so you might wanna click on the link i found for ya(i got pretty lazy after browsing for a while). hopefully, you'll be able to play your game now...
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5877.0
by the way, do you remember the three boxes you're suppose to uncheck during the installation process? directshow is one of them. anyway, don't be rude, i know what i was saying.

@lfam00: the patches and mods included are the ff7 xp v1.02 patch, mini-games patch and the high res patch. read how to get the rest of the patches at comment 344
@Cloud92: there should be a folder "save" under your ff7 installation directory.
301.Posted by Cloud92 on Jul 07 2008 at 05:55
I cant seem to see a save folder tho =\
i go into the FF7 folder and it has exe file, the config, the cd check and the manuel... then theres a data file and inside there is only the folders named -
- battle
- cd
- feild
- kernal
- menu
- midi
- minigames
- movies
- music
- sound
- wm
but i've managed to play through and save the game so it must be stored somewhere =\

I had the blackout with NO sound, no matter what I did & the more I tried to start over, the more bugs emerged. I did everything this thread told me to & still no JOY. In the end I formatted one of my hard drives & started clean. At last it works!
Here's what I did:
Freshly formatted HDD w/ windows, antivirus & drivers installed, so no previous codecs. Install ACE mega codes pack professional install obtained from link in this thread (media player classic is included).
Install game
copy the movie files as directed & replace eroneous files with eidoslogo (though I will later replace properly) & update registry by copy/paste from address bar of movies folder
replace main executable & config exe with update 1.02 patch & use config to set for nvidia card (though correct settings were already checked)
copy the saint hi res patch into game folder & run.
Play!
303.Posted by lithocardia on Jul 07 2008 at 08:07
For those saying there is a Trojan on 'the Saint hi res patch', I couldn't find it despite scanning the file every way known possible before & after installation using my up to date CA (vet) package. I found nothing. Perhaps my antivirus cleaned it before I scanned it? Or my software doesn't see it as malicious code. Either way, the Hi Res patch is worth a few hassles, especially if you have a hard drive you can format for this game & reimage when you're done playing.
THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TORRENT SAGUS! ALSO PLEASE COULD ANYONE DIRECT ME TO THE BEST TORRENT VERSION OF FF8 IF IT'S AROUND?

One more time thread hogging just to make sure you all notice me
Puhhlleeeeaaassseeeee let me know where the best place is to download the next installment of this awesome series. Final Fanstasy 8!
I actually though this was the game I used to play on PS1 but it's not. That must be FF8 & I'm dying to play it on PC.
Also are there cheats for the PC? Console commands?
PS What about all the other awesome original PS games like Suikoden? Resident Evil & Silent Hill (I have silent hill 4 & it ****ed badly)?

O and btw just fixed my problem with locating the save files
think it was vista, had to click some "Compatibility Files" at the top of the window to take me to the file >,< haha
306.Posted by lithocardia on Jul 09 2008 at 13:40
Cloud92, just out of curiosity, why are you still running Vista? Does it offer something that is better than XP. I've never tried Vista, so I'm genuinely interested. It just sounds like it's so much more trouble than it's worth.
Also... Sagus & FF saga fans, I'm still hoping someone will clue me in for the best torrent with least obstacles for Final Fantasy 8. Some of the comments in this thread stated that for THIS chapter, there is another torrent for 'ultima' or 'unlimate' that's just as simple to run as loading an ISO, but I got the impression that it's so simply to run partly because it doesn't have the movies? If that's true it would ruin the game for me. I see the movies like a reward. So with that in mind, I'm after the full version of FF8 with least issues & fair amount of seeds at the moment.
WHAT'S THE BEST TORRENT FOR NUMBER 8? FINAL FANTASY VIII
THANKS AGAIN SAGUS> I'M LOVING PLAYING THE GAME AGAIN 10 YEARS ON!

I just finished disk 1. I had all 3 disks mounted in Daemon tools but after Aeris dies, it asks for disk 2 (already mounted). It doesn't say 'push enter' when done. It says nothing, just insert disk 2. I tried unmounting them all and then just mounting disk 2 but nothing changes. I don't know which button to push or what to do when it's done.
I feel so dumb and I wanna play more.... Booo! ***?
...not that anybody seems to be reading this thread anymore....
& before any haters tell me to go back and read the thread (if this has been covered) I read all almost 400 comments & don't remember this issue coming up. I'm going MENTAL> HELP

This does give me another chance to be the last poster for the thread for now so once again I can be noticed saying:

Hey lithocardia
i only bought Vista because i bought a brand new pc and i didnt really see the point in buying XP again when I'll probably have to upgrade upto vista again sometime in the future.
It has some new features and whatnot but none that really make it worth upgrading for unless u absolutely have to, specially because it just gives me so much trouble trying to install games and software, personally i wouldent recommend getting it until all the bugs n **** have been cleared out of it.. its just another pain in the ass i have to deal with when trying to do absolutely ANYTHING lol

Hmm... I have mounted and installed Final Fantasy VII (PC) to Alcohol 120%, but I cannot seem to get it running. If I click on the virtual drive with either of the files including discs 1-3 (excluding the install disc - because I can get that one to run) it leads me to a folder with four other folders which are "field, minigame, movies, and mw." Is there a way to run the disc with out it displaying the folders on the virtual drive?

plz help Sagus!!

@rccall_rccall and aaznfro
Please list your PC's specifications, that might help us help you.
@Ikaru-Kitanoru
That's a **** question. You just mount one of the disks (excluding the installation disk) and then nevigate to your FFVII installation folder. Then run the game from there (it should be ff7.exe)
Anyone else needs help, post cleary (that is by not saying "PWWWEEEEEAAAEEEZZEEZZEEEE GAAAIIIIIIIZZZZ MAAAH FAINAL FANTAISY IS NUT WERKIN"

Bug_ger!
I'm up to the scene where you fight Jenova in the Northern Crater on Disk 3. It's right before that movie Sagus told us needed replacing is (last4_4.avi) The problem is I already replaced the corrupted movie files with the ones from the site that was posted by a few ppl earlier on in this thread. The other movies, biglight.avi & something else (I forget) worked fine once I replaced them. The trouble with last4_4.avi is that in the folder there are also last4_2.avi & last4_3.avi. I don't think those 2 very short clips are on that site where we get the other movie replacements & as they are both tiny clips, one or both of those could actually be what's crashing me.
I'm going insane because the game chooses this scene to make you go thru the whole cave system full of bosses that take a long time to fight with only one save point (which I try to save as you take it with you & choose where to put it). I'm sick of replaying 1.5 hours for the same darn result CRASH

the above link for the file should be

Just in case that spelling doesn't go through, it's www. followed by "media" then "fire" then .com, then the rest of it.

Hi, hope someone can help me!
I've just started with cd2. I've gone trough the snowfields and arrived at the big crater. When I arrive there, a 'movie' starts as usual. During this 'movie' it always stops at the same time and I can't do anything. I've tried playing the movie which is called "greatpit" in windows media player. At the exact moment as in the game the 'movie' stops and i get this: "A run time error occurred".
I hope someone has a solution for me. I've tried skipping the movie but this isn't possible I think. This is really frustrating, please help!

Hi, first post here grin, ok, i was having the exact same problem and i had k-lite codec pack installed, maybe you are on a similar situation
the game apparently has some incompatibility with the avi splitter, a filter that comes with some codec packs. you can either uninstall it or disable it, in k-lite codec pack this can be done by acessing the Codec Tweak tool that comes together, under "disable filter" tab find Avi Splitter (Gabest) and check it, there you go, hope this helps.
I got the upper comment from a forum help site. This is for All Face and Cloudblade. This helped me get through cosmo canyon thing. Hope it works for you guys. In the future remember google it.
336.Posted by RK9 on Aug 28 2008 at 02:59
Also if you dont have k-lite codecs or cant disable your codecs for some reason just uninstall them for this point in game.

346.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on Oct 02 2008 at 10:36
#421: I'm sure you can google "chocobo patch" and you will find the answer. This is not this torrent's problem, it happens to everyone because this game is old and wasn't designed to work with today's PCs.
#423: Sorry man, I got it to work with no instructions, so if it is too complicated for you, maybe you should stick to the PS2. PCs are way too hard to understand, right?
#424: Most people who encountered that problem got it because they inserted Install Disc instead of Disc 1. In your case, it sounds like you burned only the Install Disc, so you should regedit so the game does not expect other CDs from the same source. You either burn them all, mount them all, or edit the registry to reflect the change. If you need further instructions, just ask.

Make sure you've installed media player. If it doesn't work, apply the 1.02 patch, just in case. Don't worry about the 8-bit textures.
348.Posted by Wyrick on Oct 05 2008 at 23:11
Will this copy work with mods, like the high-res and limit break ones etc?

doh, should've read more
, it seems they will, thanks for the torrent

I mounted the install disc to install it. I then changed the registry to access my CD-ROM drive, and then burned the first disc, since Windows would not open it mounted. I still haven't gotten it to work, mounted or burned.
351.Posted by post27it on Oct 08 2008 at 03:07
ok, well i will stick to my ps2 and you should stick with buying you games cuz you can't make them for pc, or is that to hard for you?
352.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Oct 10 2008 at 18:37
@ 435: This may sound obvious, but maybe you should put a \ at the end of
C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies
353.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Oct 11 2008 at 18:24
Do the movies play in an external player?
354.Posted by crake on Oct 11 2008 at 19:24
yes, they play in wmp, and wmp classic, but not in bs, or vlc.
and the renamed files - eidoslogo ones (greatpit, biglight...) they.. well they all play eidos logo. i dunno if that should be like that, cuz thats a lot of eidos logos
355.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Oct 12 2008 at 23:02
Yeah, you have to replace those with the eidoslogo.avi because the old copies are damaged. The game would crash otherwise when it tries to play those movies.
356.Posted by crake on Oct 12 2008 at 23:10
yes, i just said that i renamed eidoslogos into those 4 or 5 names and i copied the eidoslogo-renamed ones into movies, replacing the old greatpit, biglight.. ones.
and.. well, if i renamed eidoslogo into another file, than i guess its understandable that it plays the eidoslogo movie when i click one of those files.. right?

Can anybody tell me how they got past the "Please insert FF7 Game Disc 1, 2, or 3 and try again" message?

Thanx sooo much for this game it has been years since I have played. After some difficulty installing and getting it to work properly I have finally got it to work, yet I do have a question. While playing the fx sounds work fine but when I go to config menu it says that the music is not supported. Have I done something wrong? Thnx in advance for your help.
359.Posted by Hobie1kenobi on Oct 30 2008 at 14:18
To "crake" I had some of the same problems, you might want to try to uninstall the game completely and uninstall any video players you might have other than wmp and reinstall the game plus the movie player that comes with it. see if that helps if not then go in and edit the reg and replace the corrupted movie files as posted above. dont forget to install the patch as well and dont install the high res pack right off the bat see if the game works without it first then try. Hope this helped.
360.Posted by Hobie1kenobi on Oct 30 2008 at 14:20
To "undeadsquirrel" be sure that you still have the disc1 mounted with poweriso (or whatever program you use to mount with) you will find the first game disc in the disc2 folder.
361.Posted by morganmax on Nov 06 2008 at 02:11
hit here, 1st of all thank u very much for the upload.
i have read all this comments and i have copied all the movies from discs to a directory in my PC, replaced the ones listed in instrutcions, and changed the path in regedit, but im still getting insert disc bla bla.. when i click on the shortcut... anything i can do? thanks in advance
362.Posted by Hobie1kenobi on Nov 06 2008 at 05:58
I seem to have solved my issue with the sound not working by installing the high res patch (not quite sure how that happened but it did) but now I am at the Del Soy port for the first time after fighting Jenova birth on the boat from Junon and after Rufus boards his helicopter and flys off the scene begins to change and the game crashes. Pleassssse help.
363.Posted by Hobie1kenobi on Nov 06 2008 at 07:31
For those of you that may have experienced the same game crash issue as described in my previous post I seem to have resolved that. I simply reinstalled the game and upon reinstallation I did not reinstall the high res patch. Now if you do have to do this be sure and go into your ff7 program folder and copy your Save folder that way when you reinstall you can simply replace the default save folder with the one you copied and then you wont loose any saved game data. And for those of you having disc issues be sure that you have disc1 mounted before trying to play the game you will find disc1 in the disc2 folder. hope this helps.

when i open the movie folder of cd2 or 3 or 4(theres no "movie" folder on cd1)...pretty much none of the movies play with windows media player (even eidoslogo). I found one that does.."fship2" so i copied it and pasted it onto my desktop then renamed it "ending1". When i try to copy and paste it back to the movie folder it wont let me and says not enough space available.....am i doing this right? im lost.
any help is greatly appreciated thanks.
368.Posted by Hobie1kenobi on Nov 08 2008 at 23:19
The movie folders are going to be in the Squaresoft program folder on your c: drive (or wherever your programs install to). This is of course after you have already installed the game.
Hope this helps
369.Posted by Askar450 on Nov 09 2008 at 20:27
i don't have a movie folder in there, i tried installing it twice Standard and Maximum, Maximum options says "Installs all game files to your hard drive. Only movies are run from the CD-ROM." so yeah we don't have them either way lol any help would be appreciated.

I follow all the instructions in every read me file, etc. I also replace the regedit thing I make it: C:\Program Files\Square Soft\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies\ ,then I copy & paste all the movies in each images that I mounted on; C:\Program Files\Square Soft\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies ,I also patch all almost all the patches except the saint. and I also download the 4 corrupted videos and replace them. But every time I used to click the ff7

LaLa Mae you need to install the Movie Player from disk one. Morganmax you need an ISO reader, I use PowerISO, mount the ISO and you can play FFVII.

Other than the game crashing every now and then at random thanks for posting this...oh and if your an idiot like me and use ati drivers (for mobility readeon 7500) dont even think of checking the nvidia drivers box and make sure your midi data is set to Yamaha XG MIDI cuz i spent 3 days going insane trying to get it to work until i realized this simple mistake (it was crashing in a way similar to lala mae but it crashed the entire computer)
377.Posted by Twilight145 on Nov 14 2008 at 03:45
also just bcuz it corrupted the uninstaller doesnt mean you cant delete it just simply delete the square soft folder
378.Posted by Askar450 on Nov 15 2008 at 02:12
Lala Mae I'm a dude, lol but anyways you need to make the movies work before you move them if you can't see them then you they wont work either way so first of reinstall FF7 and get a fresh new copy with no patches on it then go to http://www.ff7-universe.com download the FFVII 1.02 patch, once you have those files delete the original ff7.exe and ff7config.exe with the ones you just downloaded when you're done with that download the chocobo patch from the same site and run it locate the new ff7.exe file and patch it up now run it again
379.Posted by Askar450 on Nov 15 2008 at 02:19
oh and that reminds me the value should look exactly like this "C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies\" even the , Inc part and \movies\ I had the same at first even the smallest mistake messes everything up
380.Posted by kalumpa on Nov 17 2008 at 08:35

For all the problems, questions and FF7 needs go to:
fem1{dot}uniag{dot}sk{slash}Miroslav{dot}Jezikff7ncopam{dot}html
This is a web page I discovered after my last post here, made by a true FF7 fan, that can solve most of peoples problems with the game.
boing666 and drum1911 you don't have to change the path, play the videos frome the cds or the images, it works for me.
385.Posted by drum1911 on Dec 09 2008 at 18:24
hey thanks Gull, but how do you play a video from a image? do you mean mount it with daemon tools or something?
386.Posted by Gull on Dec 10 2008 at 03:30
Yes that is correct drum1911, mount the game images with daemon tools, those cd images contain all the videos.
BUT make sure you use the same drive letter (virtual or not) from witch you made the installation of FF7.
For example if you installed the game from drive E: the cd or image in order to play FF7 should also be in drive E:
Anything else you might need (including solutions to problems) is on the web site:
fem1{dot}uniag{dot}sk{slash}Miroslav{dot}Jezikff7ncopam{dot}html

Just read and follow his instructions and you should be O.K.
miracle.flame did a wonderful job with this.

Gull, that link you posted doesn't work. And neither did any of your suggestions. Sorry.
388.Posted by Gull on Dec 12 2008 at 13:18
UndeadSquirrel I just clicked on the link and worked perfectly.
So I guess your ISP doesn't work, too bad.
As for my suggestions, they work for me!
You also mention something about "corrupted" when mounted disk images, maybe that is the cause of your problems, all the files in this torrent are fine, but maybe you got a data corruption problem. Have your torrent program check the CRCs of your download to see if you got all the files correct.
I got NO "corrupted" when mounted message when I used daemon tools.
Come to think of it the only time I had problems with corrupted downloads was when I was using Nvidia's firewall, on an nForce board.
389.Posted by boing666 on Dec 16 2008 at 21:59
Hi. I have another problem.
I followed all the advices from the site that Gull told (http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7ncopam.html) and now I can start a game. It looks all right, I can also do the first (and sometimes even the second) fight, but then, usually when I have the inventory opened, the control buttons stop working. Only Q keeps working, but I can't close the game because I can't choose yes or no. Not even ctrl+alt+del works. But the music keeps playng and I see open the ctrl+alt+del window behind the image. The system continues working but the controls doesn't work... Can someone help me please? Can it be a problem of the Laptop_Keypad_patch? Thanks.
390.Posted by Gull on Dec 18 2008 at 02:24
Never played the game on a laptop, I don't know why the keyboard stops working, never happened to me on a regular keyboard, if you have any regular keyboard around, plug it in the laptop and try again.
KieranCleary inside "ff7_cd2" is actually game disk 1 and disk 2 is in "ff7_cd3" folder. If the game doesn't like the disk 2 you feed it, try the rest of the disks one by one and see what happens. If that doesn't work use daemon tools instead. Hope that helps.
391.Posted by KieranCleary on Dec 18 2008 at 04:25
I've tried all of the other discs, and for some reason when I try installing Daemon lite it gives me some ****py error message. I'm wondering if I burned the ISO's to discs if that would do something. Thanks for the comment.
392.Posted by Gull on Dec 18 2008 at 15:43
I once tried Magic Disc and didn't like it, never used it again. As of the "Daemon lite" installation problem, chances are that Magic Disc is causing it (probably a scsi driver conflict). I have had success running FFVII with Alcohol 120% ver 1.4.8 (old version) and Daemon tools ver 3.47 (old version too). Actually right now I have them both in the same pc and they are getting along nicely.
My suggestion KieranCleary would be to uninstall "Magic Disc" and to try again with "Daemon lite". If that doesn't work use a previous version of "Daemon tools" which should work. You can find em all here:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5
Now I hope THAT helps
393.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Dec 20 2008 at 07:24
I tried everything suggested here and on that website, and still no go. So I guess I'm ****ed.
394.Posted by Gull on Dec 21 2008 at 05:53
Just some questions for UndeadSquirrel:
1) Have you downloaded the game from this torrent? If so what program did you use?
2) Do you still get messages about corrupted images when you mount them with programs such as Daemon tools?
3) What other 3D games has your computer successfully run?
4) What is your PCs configuration (hardware and software)?
5) Do you have an updated anti virus program in your PC?
6) Have you actually red:
http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7/step-by-step_instructions__by_miracle.flame.rtf
?
7) Do you still receive the "Please insert FF7 Game Disc 1, 2, or 3 and try again." message even when you mount the right images ON THE SAME VIRTUAL DRIVE that you used to install the game? (Note #1 forget about burning the images, Note #2 BEFORE you even touch the registry of course, in a fresh install)
If you answer these questions truthfully we may be able to help you.
395.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Dec 21 2008 at 23:41
1) Yes, I have this specific version from this torrent. I used µTorrent 1.8 to download it.
2) Daemon Tools, Alcohol, and every other virtual disc program I've used mounts the discs just fine, but Windows refuses to open the install disc when mounted, saying that it could be corrupted. It installs just fine when I burn the disc, though.
3) My GPU is a 512MB ATI Radeon 9250 with pixel shader 1.4. It runs games such as World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, Fable, Titan Quest, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic I & II, and Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy).
4) I have a Compaq Presario with an Intel Celeron 2.6GhZ, 1GB of RAM, and the ATI card I mentioned.
5) I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite 8 with current anti-virus and spyware definitions.
6) Yes, I even saved the text file on my computer.
7) Like I mentioned, I could only install with a burned disc. The others mount fine and can be read by Windows. I haven't tried burning them all yet.
396.Posted by Gull on Dec 22 2008 at 15:43
Well to begin with your PC seems to be fine and able to run FFVII. What worries me is the corrupted message when you mount the install disk, I have installed this game in 2 different PC using various virtual drive programs (Daemon tools ver 3.47, Alcohol 120% ver 1.4.8, and tested daemon4302-lite today), they all worked fine. I had no problem mounting the install disk or any other. And keep in mind that you don't need to copy the movies to the hard disk to play the game, so you don't need to edit the registry.
So to begin with, you should check if the image of the install disk you downloaded is correct. First to do a scandisk to your hard disk. Second If you still have the torrent in µTorrent 1.8 it is easy, just press stop to stop the torrent right click on it and press "force Re-Check", if you deleted the torrent, down load the torrent only, and point it to where the game files are, don't worry it won't erase them but it will check their integrity.
397.Posted by UndeadSquirrel on Dec 24 2008 at 12:58
I just got another PC set up here with newer hardware, so I'll give that a try and see how it goes. I think what the issue MAY be is the ATI card the old PC had. It just...... ****ed.
398.Posted by Gull on Dec 25 2008 at 00:17
Good luck to you. Just as a side note I would like to add to the two previous posts, since I didn't want to triple post and the two previous posts couldn't take another word, that on the second PC witch has an ATI video card I was forced to Install The_SaiNt_s_High_Res_FF7PC_Patch_v1.00 because the game wouldn't start otherwise.
Oh and....

First off big thanks to Sagus for the upload and the help. I've currently replaced all the broken video files and changed the path accordingly, applied the minigame, official (only for configuring) and chocobo patch. The game starts up fine until the first battle and then it just crashes and keeps crashing everytime I try again. I saw that someone else had the same problem but there was no solution offered for it. Anyone care to help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I have a problem with the Chocobo trace : the game shutdown suddenly.
So I installed the patch against this problem, but now, when I run the game, it doesn't respond to my keyboard, no note respond. How can I fix this problem please :/
404.Posted by CodenameD on Jan 14 2009 at 16:59
As far as the comments goes, I think I have understood everything needed to run this game.
My PC is also dual booted with Windows 98 SE and XP Pro SP2. So I know 98 SE will run FFVII without most patchups!
But if I ever get stuck I will question here for sure.
But the reason I posted here was because I WANT WORKING FMV FILES for the corrupted ones:
biglight.avi
ending1.avi
greatpit.avi
last4_4.avi
I know you will probably point me to "http://fmv.thehylia.com/.." or something but I did check it out and THE LINK IS DEAD!
It turned up a 404 when I last checked the site. If anybody knows of a working link can he/she tell me? Or if anybody has atleast these four videos, could he/she upload them or torrent them please? I know the eidoslogo.avi workaround will help but I want the real videos instead. I will be grateful to Sagus or anyone who helps me get the corrupted videos replaced with good ones.
I NEED THE VIDEOS!!!!
405.Posted by Gull on Jan 15 2009 at 11:06
No you don't CodenameD. Actually you don't even need to copy the videos to your hard disk. Read posts 479 and 497 or even better read the guide from the link in 503.
kolosse2terre Install The_SaiNt_s_High_Res_FF7PC_Patch_v1.00 you can find in http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7ncopam.html on a fresh install, if I recall well it also got the chocobo patch in it.

Sarah1987 read post 479, you can also download the TrueMotion codec from:
http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7ncopam.html
After you install it you should be fine.
414.Posted by Sarah1987 on Jan 25 2009 at 00:03
I downloaded & installed the codec and followed all the instructions and it did the same thing still.
Any suggestions?
415.Posted by Gull on Jan 25 2009 at 23:49
That means that the codec didn't install well.If you downloaded it from the site "http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7ncopam.html" inside the zip there are instructions to help you, follow them. And of course if you use windows millennium 2 aka vista, make sure you run everything as an administrator.
Good luck
416.Posted by Sarah1987 on Jan 26 2009 at 06:04
I'm gonna try it again. I'm not running Vista though. I'm using Windows XP. I''ll let you know how it works out. Thanks so much for your input and help, I appreciate it whether it works or not LOL
I just don't understand why it's doing this after I've played so much of he game already.
417.Posted by Sarah1987 on Jan 26 2009 at 06:45
Okay, I tried it again. It said it fixed a few problems that I don't recall it saying before but it still did the same thing.
I'm so bummed. I got my hopes up after it said that..
If you have anymore ideas or if there's something you think I'm doing wrong let me know, PLZ!
Gosh, I really wanna play this game!
418.Posted by Gull on Jan 27 2009 at 04:01
We all faced the exact same problem playing the game. The problem is that the codec that comes with the game in order to play the videos of the game cannot play 4 or 5 of them crashing basically the game with it. I only looked it up the net when it happened to me, it is a VERY annoying and frustrating bug, I know I've been there. The problem can be solved BUT it requires a some technical knowledge, so take a big breath, relax and follow these instructions to the letter:
1) You are using XP, that's good but you have to make sure your user account belongs to the administrators group, that means you can install/uninstall drivers, programs, codecs and everything.
2)Go to http://fem1.uniag.sk/Miroslav.Jezik/ff7ncopam.html and download
"TrueMotion codec"
3)Go to http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm and download the Standard Version.
4)Open TrueMotion_codec.zip read and follow the instructions in recommendation.txt to the letter.
If you do those right you have 95% chance of success.

BIG THX @ GULL
no it works just fine
anyway, is it supposed to play no sounds during combat? (at least now in the first combats) such as sword-slashs and gunfire?
the konfig-tool of FFVII plays sounds and midi just fine, but ingame -_-
oh well...lets see
420.Posted by Gull on Jan 30 2009 at 01:44
I am happy to be able to help
As for the game sounds in battles, it is probably a volume problem. Try lowering midi volume and put wave volume at the top from volume controls, but this has nothing to do with TrueMotion codec mentioned in earlier posts.
421.Posted by thegreatmike on Jan 30 2009 at 05:40
Yea im getting no sound in battle.
422.Posted by Whatever99999 on Jan 30 2009 at 15:51
yeah i tried it with volume settings, but still no sounds...to be more precisly, i dont have ANY sounds at all
423.Posted by Gull on Jan 30 2009 at 18:38
So you have spund in windows, other games play with sound, you can play and hear mp3s and wavs but you don't get any sound effects inside FFVII while you can hear sound inside FFVII configuration. Right?
Well that's strange, try going to FFVII configuration, uncheck "Logarithmic Volule Control" checkbox in MIDI tab, lower midi volume from there and from volume controls very much, and try again.
If you don't hear anything at all but windows have sound, it could be anything, check if in FFVII configuration the correct sound card is selected or it could be a driver problem, I can't help more.
424.Posted by Whatever99999 on Jan 31 2009 at 16:20
hm....looks like my "being more precisly" turned out to be more confusing %-)
ok here the situation in detail:
works fine:
- win sounds
- win music
- FF7 Config music test
- FF7 Config sounds test
- FF7 ingame music
what does not work
- FF7 ingame sounds
i already tried switching all kinds of volume controlls ans whatsoever...nothin worked
since soundcards are correct detected and the FF7 configurator has no problem with playing the sample-sounds, its more like the sound data is just missing :/
in my FF7\Data\Sound\ Directory, there are only 2 files
- audio.dat ( 70 mb )
- audio.fmt ( 54 kb )
is this correct?
425.Posted by Gull on Feb 01 2009 at 21:51
Whatever99999 yes the data in FF7\Data\Sound\ Directory are correct and so is your installation. Since you already tried the "Logarithmic Volume Control", try muting the midi and see if you can hear anything.
dragos1129 that sounds like a rendering error, could be a borked video card, bad (micro$oft) drivers and a number of other things. Try using "The_SaiNt_s_High_Res_FF7PC_Patch_v1.00", that could help.
426.Posted by Whatever99999 on Feb 03 2009 at 20:36
well well...it just won't work. by trying multiple configurations in the windows volume-controll,
the only thing i found out was that the FF-Music uses the Wave-Table...
anyway, i also installed FF8, and guess what - same problem.
(i played FF8 some time ago on excact THIS machine without that sound-problem )
by now i have another idea and would like to hear your oppinion about it :
all music-files are single files within the music-directory.
The sound-files are packed into 1 file (audio.dat)
[b]
--> may it be, that my machine is unable of decompromising this audio.dat and therefor no soundfiles can be played within the game?[/b]
and if this might be possbility, how to fix this?

Hey guys... it's the older version, right? Not the Ultima Edition?
431.Posted by 2soos2 on Mar 15 2009 at 10:24
So it absolutely won't work on Windows Vista?
(Should I stop the download then
)
I totally respect you Sagus. I mean it's really swell of you to have spent the time to do this, but as Fotis (comment 532) put it, I think the readme could've used a few extra details.
Thanks again

Finished this a few days ago and finally got around to trying to use it. I downloaded Alcohol 120% and Mounted the first disk, which automatically got me to install the game. Then I tried to Mount FFVIIDISC1 but it opens the:
"What do you want Windows to do?
Play using Windows Media Player
Play Video Files using InterVideo WinDVD
Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer
Take no action"
Selecting the first two options just plays a video. Upside down at that.
Opening the folder shows me a folder named "ff7" in which inside are folders named "field" "minigame" "movies" "wm"
At this point I gave up and used the "Image Burning Wizard" and when it loaded the CD, it opens the exact same options as above. I am at a loss of what do do. I am completely new with any of this..

#535: You should mount the disc 1 and execute the game from the start menu shortcut. Only install disc comes with autorun.
#536: Mount install disc and install Movie Player. This install codecs to see intro and ingame FMV.

Is the damaged movie Biglight the movie that is supposed to play just after you climb to the top of Gaea's Cliff near the start of disc2?
Because thats where it breaks for me, I've replaced the appointed videos with the renamed eidoslogo, but its still breaking at the same point.
Please give me a hand.

440.Posted by Kadajoo on May 21 2009 at 11:44
thx a lot dude, it works great!
just 2 questions:
in the square soft folder there are no Patches folder, is it okay if i do create a new one?
second, when i try to add yuffie in my team, right after defeating her, the game freeze on black screen or gives me error, any suggestions to avoid it?
Kadaj
441.Posted by Sagusin (torrent uploader) on May 21 2009 at 23:57
You don't need a "Patches" folder in the game folder, just install the patches.
You need to create the "movies" folder inside the "data" folder and then regedit. If you are not sure of how to do registry editing, you better don't do it.
If you hear the sounds but can't see the movie, just install movie player from autorun menu in the install CD.
Sorry if I can't be of great help.

Hi Sagus. I'm having trouble getting the game to work. I've installed both the game and the movie player, replaced all four movie files with eidoslogo.avi and I've patched to 1.02.
I compiled all 3 movie folders from each disc into C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\Data\movies and changed the four movie files to eidoslogo and renamed them respectively. This was really turbulent as Windows Explorer would keep crashing every single time I clicked on one of the avis or opened the movie folders, although I managed to get it done.
Now, just as before (when I didn't change the movie files), the game crashes as soon as I start it. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong. I have FF7DISC1.mds mounted on DAEMON Tools Lite and still, whenever I launch the game it crashes right away. Is there anything else I can do to fix this?
Thanks

Thanks Sagus
I had the same problem of "insert the cd" thingy and i got it by "daemon tool" well the thing is that u should right click on the daemon icon on the right and go to "virtual cd/dvd-rom" "set number of devices" choose "3" and mount each cd on a each one of the three virtual cds and thats it
hope i helped

hi guys, have a little problem here:
just made after gaea/s cliffs, no problems until the "greatpit" movie, tried to replace with eidoslogo in the C: folder (coz CD is unable to rewrite) but it still freeze at half vid, while on VLC it works, any ideas to solve?
449.Posted by petite_magi on Aug 08 2009 at 17:29
Freezing problem
maybe try changing the display resolution to smaller one
My problem was the game just quited by itself when it was at 'big light' part. I tried replace that damaged vid with the one I got from the link above and it still didn't work.
Then I tried changing the display resolution. Go to ff7config >> graphics >> under display resolution change it to 640x480 quarter screen. And it works! or maybe it's because I pressed enter right before the game will shut itself lol
Black screen
yes I had this problem too. When I first run the game, i was able to select 'new game' but black screen was all i got. Thought it must be because of the codec so I installed many app: k-lite codec, divx avi codec, ace mega codec. And I also changed NVIDIA setting. Don't know which one helps, but it works ^^'
P.S playing on XP on Mac

Hey, Sagus. Just wanted to say thanks for providing this upload, especially since it's not Ultima and it works. ^^ It works fine for me after following all of your advice as well as the advice from others on here.
But I just had a quick question: I'm trying to write up a full guide on how to get around the biggest problems and I was wondering if I could link this torrent in the guide as a good, dependable place to download the game. ^^ But I completely understand if you wanna keep your name/torrent out of such a guide.
Either way, thanks for the torrent and the help you've been providing to everyone on here! ^_^ You're seriously amazing for all of this.
