A little annoying that it keeps saying Trial version, but you do get all the functionality
5.Posted by carlosdominguez (torrent uploader) on Apr 20 2008 at 21:18
To avoid the anoying "free version" message, you have to block win media player from connecting to the internet with a firewall(use bitdefender, the best). if you are already getting the message, you have to delete the file "profile", which in win vista is in \AppData\Roaming\SoundSpectrum

6.Posted by carlosdominguez (torrent uploader) on Apr 20 2008 at 21:26
if that doesnt work, delete all the soundspectrum from appdata folders. the program will make new fresh folders that, unless it checks with soundspectrum that the program is not legal, you wont get the dumb message.
gooood luck

Good work

I'm not sure how this will work for others, but if you find the "Global Preferences.txt" in WhiteCap's application data folder ("C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\Application Data\SoundSpectrum\WhiteCap\Global Preferences.txt" on my XP machine) and open it and set the following values it seems to keep it from accessing the internet and discovering it's pirated:
FTri=0
UpCk=0
Net=0
I'm pretty sure that
FTri=0 tells it it's not a trial
UpCk=0 tells it to never check for updates
Net=0 tells it to never access the internet for anything.
It has been working well for me. If anyone has a better method, please post it.

mobiusintelectus, there is no FTri value, so I decided that i should still change the other two values, but it seems that now it sees that it can't verify the license and reverts to trial mode. Now I have everything, but the Upgrade now and this is a trial version **** shows up. It doesn't really bother me too much but i thought i should add that in there.

I KNOW THE WAY TO DELETE THE TRAIL THING!
uninstall.
disable your internet connection.
install.
go to settings-->check for updates-->never.
shut down computer.
restart and put your internet on again.
it should work now,it did for me.
12.Posted by mleonm5 on May 28 2008 at 07:42
mobiusintelectus'(comment 9) method works for vista the path is C:/users/xxxxx/appdata/roaming/soundspectrum/WhiteCap\Global Preferences.txt

way way cool !! remember this plugin from years ago .... excedllent ! follow instructions , works fine. quad core with nvidia graphics rule !!!

14.Posted by Psykololo on Jun 18 2008 at 19:23
Thanks for that.
Looks really cool.
For info:
I didn't get any problem with the "Trial Version" message.
I'm on Vista, and as soon as Whitecap tried to go online, I received a message talking about incoming data for whitecap... I just clicked on "Keep blocking" and I don't see the message.
Hope this help.
Thanks again for that Carlos.

Hi people, Me again (Comment 15). I was a bit too hasten with my comment...
It didn't stop anything...
But the uninstall/stopping internet/reinstall/check for update-->never/reconnect internet worked great for me.
Thanks gamerspowers (Comment 11)

This is how to get the appdata folder in vista
go to your folder (users\xxxxx) that has the downloads, music, pics etc.
hit the alt button on your keyboard.
a menu will appear. click on tools then on folder options.
on the new window go to view and you will see a option to show hiden files and folders
19.Posted by carlosdominguez (torrent uploader) on Jun 21 2008 at 17:46
read comments #9 and 12 to get the preferences text
20.Posted by Extra101 on Jun 30 2008 at 23:49
okies got it to go away, uninstalled everything, then searched for any files left over and got rid of them to.. turned the net off, changed UpCk=0 and net=0 before starting the program and now its gone..yay..
Thanks for the help and the upload..

If you use Avast Pro, just block access to internet. Works perfectly. No trial info.
Thanks to the uploader

Thanx guys, the method of comment #9 and twelve worked out perfectly.
But you just have to put Ftri to zero(0) and than it's ok. The update check resets himself and the network also (on my machine).
24.Posted by Teun1001 on Jul 09 2008 at 21:43
Guys you just have to do what comments # 9 and # 21 explain. After that it works perfectly. the only thing you must change is
ChkS=
VNum=513
VStr="WhiteCap 5.1.3"
Than it works perfectly, have fun
25.Posted by rigobueno on Jul 10 2008 at 01:18
i cant get it to stop saying trial mode
i change the text document and save it, but i'll re-open it and it all goes back to the defaults...

i've got a problem,
when i open up iTunes and put on the visualizer, it works fine (the trial banner and text don't bother me) but when i try to change the settings, ( as in background wave, etc..) it freezes and i have to exit iTunes!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

31.Posted by Fenriz666 on Jul 14 2008 at 19:50

comments 5 and 21 worked for me. first I needed comment 5 because I had allready allowed it to realize it was not suppose to be full version. once i had completed that I tried to find C:/users/xxxxx/appdata/roaming/soundspectrum/WhiteCap\Global Preferences.txt
which did not seem to exist on my vista machine. So I simply tried what comment 21 was saying about deleting everything but VNum=511
VStr="WhiteCap 5.1.1"
ChkS=
Finally at the begging it still tells me new versions are available, but it does not ever say that it is a trial version. I also tried blocking access to the net for wmp using bitdefender, but this only succeeded in causing wmp to go into a not responding state every time I tried to use the program, and it never even got to the point of loading soundspectrum.
Hope this helps any vista users...and if anyone can point me in the direction of telling the program not to look for new versions I would appriciate it.
thanks

It works when you copy the files from a xp machine.
so copy the folder C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\Application Data\SoundSpectrum\ from xp to
C:\users\xxxxx\appdata\roaming\soundspectrum\ in vista
confirm overwriting!
maybe the poster can include the files in the next torrent
35.Posted by ricerfuel on Aug 15 2008 at 12:17
For vista if youve already installed Whitecap without luck and are getting the trail message.
1. Uninstall normally
2. Then go to appdata folder (If you cant find it, then its hidden,unhide it, Goto>Documents>Top left of the window click organise>Folder and search options>View tab>*show hidden files and folders.
3. Go to appdata>roaming>Soundspectrum>delete all 'whitecap' folders
4. Turn off internet *pull plug or block with firewall
5. Install, use serial:
U8CK2-WQMZM-L94R3-2YJDW-W8KY3-ZEFBF
6. Run in wmp or itunes, click settings(click the visualiser)>Checkfor updates>click never
done!
no need to change the global prefs.
36.Posted by x_ounet on Aug 21 2008 at 12:26
Thanks jaykays, your method works !
Install Sound Spectrum
Don't Launch Media Payer !
Go to C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\SoundSpectrum\WhiteCap
Search the file: Version Update Info, launch this.
VNum=511
VStr="WhiteCap 5.1.1"
ChkS=
Delete the line on ChkS
And Enjoy !

reinicie o computador.
eu fiz dessa maneira e funcionou prefeitamente, sem limitações e sem mensagem de "trial version".

post 38 x ounet, your method works, simple, just like blocking via firewall, but more conveinient and so obvious.

so thank you ...
keep up the good work.

THE LAZY MANS FIX [WORKS!]
Ok I tried this because I didnt want to get up to
disconnect my internet then restart my compuer and whatnot (yet i still
had time to type this...I guess I like to help more)
Go to appData/Roaming/SoundSpectrum/Whitecap/Global Preferences.txt
Change FTri=1 to FTri=0
After this go to the properties of the file and make it "Read Only"
...I did this because somehow the file changed itself back.
Then make Net=0
That should work, it did for me. Im running Vista too.
Let me know if it worked for you, that way i'll know I didn't forget
anything.
PEACE!

some of you were having problems finding Global Preferences.txt Make sure that you check the box where it says "show hi***n files and folders" in control panel > Folder Options > View tab. Then follow the file path:
C:\Documents and Settings\(Your user name)\Application Data\SoundSpectrum\WhiteCap
and do what comment 9 says
45.Posted by salousteve on Nov 28 2008 at 03:50

Uninstall and remove old root folder if youve installed if before. INSTALL FRESH with SERIAL
Enter the serial - it doesnt matter if you are still connected to internet.
Open Boot.txt and change the word "Factory" to the following:
"PREF_PREFS_VERSION"
Save the txt file.
Run your media center or wtv and change the updates to never. THERE YOU GO!
It worked for me.
52.Posted by Martuni on Mar 30 2009 at 03:47
For WinXP:
If you've already installed and you're getting the "Free Trial" messages, uninstall.
Disconnect from the Internet.
Install.
Find...C:/users/xxxxx/appdata/roaming/soundspectrum/WhiteCap\version update.txt
If you don't see it, then use control panel to "show hidden files".
Erase everything except...VNum=511.
Save and then make the file READ ONLY.
Play a song on WMP, then shut it down.
Find...C:/users/xxxxx/appdata/roaming/soundspectrum/WhiteCap\Global Preferences.txt
Change FTri=1 to FTri=0
Then make Net=0
Save the file and make it read only.
Reconnect to Internet and you should be good to go.
