i have the game, the only annoying thing though is i don't know what popsloader to use, original from flash works up until cut scenes. what should i use?

Right guys, I got this working fine now.
You need to use Popsloader, and run 3.71 off it, intro and everything plays fine after that.

Using 3.80 m33-5 works almost fine except when i open GF junction and in battle ..there are some lag

If you still need help, post here, as I'll be checking back often.
AND remember if your opening video does not play that means you HAVE the working version of the game.
All the other versions online freeze like crazy during battles and it is impossible to play through them.
To play the videos (FMVs) just switch the popsloader to 3.71 or 3.72.

Cause we are suppose to be playing with 3.90 then switch to 3.71 when we need to play FMV ?

1.) Right when you select the game from the XMB (menu), hold the R trigger.
2.) Keep holding it until you see a menu with a bunch of firmwares on it
3.) Select 3.71 to play in 3.71 pops, or "original from flash" to play in 3.90
*** I also wanted to add that you can play the whole game in 3.71 pops, but the game battles and menu will lag a little. If you choose to play in 3.90,game battles will run smoothly but a few cut scenes(FMVs) will not play.
In the end it's your decision. I just switch from 3.90 to 3.71 pops when necessary.

yeah... i notice it lag when quistis want to teach me junction so i prefer 3.90 unless i be seeing fmv that will not run.. Since i cannot change pops during the game... would you mind telling me which are the other cut scenes that wouldnt play so that i can switch to 3.71 at the save point before the scene.

I believe there are three FMVs in total that do not play properly including the opening one.
The other two, i haven't come across myself yet, but when i do i will post here. I'm currently on disk two, at the Fisherman's Horizon with no failed FMV's.
antimage, for now just save frequently, so you dont lose progress if a messed up FMV does show

You need to place the eboot file in root
SP/GAME/Final Fantasy VIII folder. Create the folders if you have to.
halzeenan14, just update your PSP to firmware 3.90m33 and then try it. Maybe there is a bug in your firmware 3.71m33-3
xleogenx, people who download this game must seed it so others can dl it faster. I'am seeding it.

Does someone know if i can convert the PSP saves for the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII ? Just to make it clear .... i want to convert the psp Saves into PC data save , So i can use them to play from the PC

You first have to download popsloader. Download it from here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4075732/Full_3.90_working_popsloader_for_PSP
Now follow my instructions:
1.) When the download completes, take the seplugins folder and put it in the root of the memory stick(this is where the PSP and ISO folders are)
2.) Put the EBOOT.PBP of this game in to root/PSP/GAME/FFVIII/ which you probably already did
4.)Now go into recovery mode and then into plugins and make sure popsloader is "enabled"
4.)Now exit recovery mode and go to the FFVIII game on the XMB and hold the right trigger, now while you're holding it select the FFVIII game.
5.)Keep holding it until a menu appears with many firmwares listed on it. You must select "original from flash" if you have 3.90m33 firmware or "3.90m33" if you are running another firmware.
6.)Play the game and enjoy.

For all those who are having trouble with this:
Things you need: Custom Firmware for your PSP, KEYS.BIN, SCPH10000.BIN, and POPSLOADER. You can get most of this here in mininova just search.
1. Put SCPH10000.BIN in your GAME folder
2. Put the FF folder in the GAME folder with the KEYS.BIN file inside
3. If you got the popsloader then it should be in a folder named SEPLUGINS. Just copy it to the root of your memory stick
4. Go to recover mode in your PSP, go to plugins and enable the popsloader
5. Play the Game and choose the latest version of popsloader. (Don't choose the "original from flash"
6. Enjoy... ^_^
Note: The game lags when you're in the junction menu. Don't worry it's normal.

Hmmm.. thats strange. I beat that part without a problem with this torrent on 3.90m33-4
I hope there is no glitch in your save file for that save. Try with different popsloaders on a different previous save game file.
Does the cutscene run ok?

Ok niekniek, i'm not familiar with regulon's method. But i'm 100% sure you do not have to do all that complicated stuff. I've played and beaten the game on 3.90m33-4 without a single freeze. I'd recommend you update to 3.90m33-4 or 4.01m33 and play the game.

Ashan, I upgraded to 4.01 but still i cant play the game, it says " The copyright protection is invalid"....and i cant see my ISO files anymore....I've tried to go recovery menu but i think 4.01 doesn't have it......and when i tried to downgrade to 3.90,it says "The game could not be started" before i can downgrade.......man, I'm totally ****ed up......

Ok, you are running custom firmware right? Because custom firmware is required to play backed up psx games. If you're not sure check under "system settings" > "system information" > "Software version" >
what does it say there? If you are not running custom firmware, you have to downgrade your psp and then run hacks and stuff to make it custom firmware.
I reccomend you ask for help here as it is where i learned how to hack a PSP. Good luck.

ok thanks....I made a research already....I think I need someone with pandoras box to downgrade....
It says "Version 4.01" only, no M33-2.....when i tried to installed M33-2, it always says "the game could not be started error(8*******)".
D*mn it.....I really love this game....I even named my dog Rinoa 
....

Ok it's great that the game appears to be working for everyone. I downloaded the torrent and noticed that the whole game is contained in one EBOOT. How does that work with FF8 being on 4 disks? What happens when I get to the end of Disk 1? Or would I be better off downloading the torrent that has 4 separate EBOOTs?

ok everyone who is experiencing difficulty and freezes at the lanar base fmv and at other places, YOU MUST SWITCH POPSLOADER TO 3.71M33. It's because you're running the game on 3.90m33 or higher you are experiencing the freezes. Please read my previous posts!!!

I JUST FINISHED THE GAME!!! haha its beautiful!!! its absolutely freezeless or crashes!! i just used my original firmware 4.01 m33-2 that's all no 3.72 or other popsloader needed..
HOWEVER you must do certain things in order to have 0% crashes and 100% playability just like i did!! so listen .. i know its a bit to late.. but what the heck!! i can finally spread to the world that i finished the game without any problems. use the torrent i placed..
1. change the game ID and save ID ( all 4 ebbots) to SLPS02180 (this is very imporant!! ) how ? by using popsloader gui
2. set disc speed to fast
3. set camera to zero..
4. use 4.01 firmware ( i haven't use 3.90 below but if u try and made it then its alright ) all i can say is that 4.01 has been tested!!
5. enjoy!! cut scenes were freezeless , you can draw cast any SPELL a million times w/o worries.

hi i must be electronically or mentally challenged because when i go to ff8 in my mem stick it says data corrupted? i have it in its own folder with the keys.bin under games
where am i suppose to but the scph10000.bin? also i have other games that work fine so my popsloader is fine i think even though they dont use scph10000.bin why does ff8 require this?

okay its official...
this game freezes at lunar base after the lunar cry.
use 3.71 & 3.90...
no improvement...got stuck!!!!!!!!

ok, i found a solution for people who are experiencing the same problem as me... for people who are using 3.71m33-4, make sure u go to settings --> disc-load speed and change it to fast!!
with this ive skipped the lunar-lunatic base problem
hope this helps bigtime for people who have DLed this
