Yes, and I'm being quite serious here, DON'T use Vista as your gaming platform! XP is definitely way more stable for gaming STILL! The only exception IMHO is if you really MUST run your games using DX10 otherwise UPGRADE your OS to XP! (You can still use a max of 3GB RAM on XP with no probs)
Reason for this opinion: Have never had any problems running TOED/Skullptura/dopeman games under XP. Most of the problems I see posted (and there's heaps of them if go have a look at respective ripper's gamelists) relate to Vista. Common sense should prevail...

the massefx.7z.002 is not working.It says that is corrupt or something like that and I've downloaded the torrent for 2 times.I've only extracted from the massefx.7z.001.Still the game works. THe 002 arhive dosn't need to be extracted?

choose part 1 and part 002 will be automatically extracted after... there was no need to download this twice!. ...to be exact, 002 has been extracted at your place, otherwise you wouldnt be able to play the game

about your error, well thats forsure something with you system, e.g. netframeworks, directx, hotfixes, service patch's... and all other, these has to be "very" up-2-date... to avoid those issues you got!.

I Installed and got a gpf ( General Protection Fault) without having vista + I am administrator on my comp.
So I reinstalled without background programs, now when I start the game it reboots Windows XP.
Checked on http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and I have enough to run it on minimum

Yod direct play means that the game is ready to play...the files will appear as you had installed the game in your pc...
I've come to show some respect for this man cause all of his work is the real deal!!!! Tough for this one I've a major problem that I've encounter.
I've been playing the game for 7 hours or so with major graphics, no bugs or crashes of any kind but I´ve come to a phaze that you have to go in and out of the MACKO and the problem is I CAN GET IN BUT I CANT'T GET OUT...
Does anyone had this problem???
I've had already played driving the MACKO on an uncharted planet but I thought that I coundn't get out because of the atmosphere or something like that, because the level started with the team in the MACKO...but now I see that is really a problem...
Explanations or suggestions needed!!!!

im usin winRAR 3.42 Corp Edition. is there a diffrent or more up to date file extractor program/ utility I have to use to open file MassEfx-.7z.001. because it is not being red by winrar nor alcohol as an image file N i did change the extentions from 001 to rar or iso. I've found out my problem...the in game tutorial FAQ is Wrong!! The key to exit the MACKO is Q and not E...the game works perfectly!!!!

atm me and a local friend are collecting IPs of all of you seeders, because when iam back from vacation, you people (seeders) will be the only persons able to download from me... because why?... well ive coded my own Peer-Guard-tool (nameless yet), which will only allow known ips to download from me, all unknown IPs will be automatically banned and cant connect to download anymore... and the banned ones will be just transfered to peerguardian to have them blocked! ... which means my tool will only allow known ip's to download... for those who might think this is not possible, will be surprised, at beginning of september... be sure! cheers

About the seeding, I'd love to seed but the thing is: my max upload speed is 27kb/s When i;m uploading at that speed everyone in the house complains about my downloading so I can only seed at 10-15 kb/s .
And a question, When I want to download something from you in september, can i do that, or will i get banned becuase I haven''t downloaded in a while(so peergaurdain wont detect me)

Interesting idea you're proposing about restricting seeders. Won't it fall on it's backside though once your select few have downloaded the game and are seeding it from their computer? Or are you advocating that members of your ToeD club don't seed anything? Which kind of brings us back to the point you are making about leechers, doesn't it?
Or maybe it's just me.

Thanks again for this game! It works GREAT! I have a Core2Duo E6750@3Ghz, 2GB RAM, 8800GT, and runs very smooth. I don't have Internet at home, so I seed at work, but it's so ****py speed that I don't think it counts (upload @10KB/s 
).

@sammasvs u most likely wont need to download it again, for the extraction use LATEST 7-zip as as said many times above. if u think u havent got the full download just "re-check" the torrent and u will see if u dont have the complete file which u most likely do.

Is it just me or other also have the overheating problem later in the game? When my gun over heats the meter never comes down. Its not a enemy skill because it still overheats when there is no one around. Is it because of this rip? (not saying its a bad rip)Its pain in the ass trying to kill the boss when you can't use your weapon.

Well i've been able to play for a few hours now by loading windows in a clean boot. I havent had any problems. SO i'll keep playing and see how it goes.

Everything works perfectly.
Just follow the instructions.
I suggest extracting it to a main disk directory eg. C: or D: or whatever, it will extract everything to a folder called mass effect.
I've had problems in the past with programs buried too deep in the subdirs for example C:\bla\bla\bla\bla\bla\mass effect\... hope this helps some people with problems.

I have the 7-Zip needed and I also have WinRAR, but my computer always tells me that it can not open it as archive. The other one I have no problems with. Is this suppose to happen? Flawless upload - but for two things.
First, there's a bug that prevents your weapon from cooling down once it's overheated. Saving and reloading got rid of this problem - but it is not always possible to do so (ie in the middle of combat). This occured roughly in 90% of all cases of an overheat.
Second - there was this weird glitch I encountered this one time that sent the landrover into these odd - floating barrel rolls - suspended in mid-air. I reloaded a past save to be on the safe side - and never encountered this issue again.
Other than that - everything worked fine. In fact I enjoyed this game so much - I was actually motivated to go out and buy myself a copy. A sincere thanks to the uploader for giving me a chance to evaluate this product first-hand.
The only question now is whether or not I will STILL encounter the overheating bug - I'm hoping it has nothing to do with the registry entries included in this torrent...

yep same here getting tons of hash fails 1659 @ 1.64GB wasted!! Rofl pretty new to this could it be some outside influence causing this trying to stop it from being used? I dunno but I updated my U torrent to latest version as I thought it may not be banning the ip's that were causing the hash fails as I read that was a problem with early versions of U torrent maybe using Azzuras will help? if anyone with a bit more knowledge on subject knows whats going on pls post.
Funny thing is I downloaded this already once and managed ti patch it 1.1 but when i tried to apply 1.1a it locked me out of the game like I said I'm pretty new to this lol. 1ST of all TONS OF THANKS TO THE "THE MAN OF THE DIRECT PLAY " Now i am sure for those who still have problems, maybe i could help explain how to install step by step if people still have problems.
1. WHEN EXTRACTING MAKE SURE YOU EXTRACT IN THE SAME FOLDER AS THE DOWNLOADED GAME BUT IN ITS OWN FOLDER.

4. FOR ME FELLOW VISTA ULTIMATE AND THE LIKE USERS (32 BIT) TURN OFF DEP FOR PROGRAMS.
5. AND THE DRILL OF COURSE IS TO UPDATE ANYTHING NECESSARY AS IN SOFTWARE DRIVERS AND SOME MAYBE GRAPHICS CARDS COZ THE DAMN THING REQUIRES HUGE GUNS TO RUN.
HOPE THIS HELPS FOR THOSE WHO STILL HAVE PROBLEMS.
HAVE BEEN SEEDING UPTO 31 GB.

By the way I've downloaded the DLC (uncracked I presume) of Bring Down the Sky but I'm afraid to install it. This Direct Play version of 'installing' games is unknown territory to me.
I'm unsure if 'direct play' allows me to bypass protection or not or whether any patching or addon content will destroy what I have.
I also want to add that this game is one of the best downloading experiences of my life. The game runs beautifully (despite my 8800gtx having recently died and the supplier being a total a...ss about replacement, leading me to using a borrowed old VC for the last month) and almost never crashes. The rare crashes dont reoccur. Overall one of the best DLs EVER! THANKS ToeD but for god's sake, some crack Bring Down the Sky so we can have MORE!

First time i ran it, it was butter smooth. Second time i opened it, the game hitched a lot and performance is pretty poor. My specs are well above requirements (8800GT 512mb, 2GB of RAM, core 2 duo e6750, etc).

If you have a corrupted file for some reason, force a hash recheck (or something like that) in your torrent program. The torrent program should then redownload the corrupted parts and your files should not be broken.

This torrent is split into two 7 zip files. Unzip them with the lastest version of 7 zip. The 7 zip program will automatically extract both parts.

Probably some background process using up lots of memory and cpu. I have 2.5 GHz dual core, 4 GB RAM and an Nvidia 9600M GT. Runs very smoothly at ultra settings. Type msconfig in the command prompt and click on do not show microsoft services then uncheck all the rest. This will surely increase your computer's performance (warning: this disables everything except for your operating system)

Hmm, i've run into a little problem and could use some advice please.
All files extracted flawlessly, added .Reg and made desktop icon.
When i launch the game it hangs indefenetly until i end the program .. after that windows turns to **** and i need to reboot.
I have 180.48 latest driver, Service pack 3, directx and Physx installed ... installed open AL which diden't help.
I have tried configuring it and each time its a different error, either XML error : There is an issue with the following XML:
XML button name="uninstall" action="execute" file= C:\Program files\Common files\Bioware\Uninstall Mass Effect.exe" autoquit="true">
Or Protection Fault or BSOD with NV4_mini.sys or it just hangs until i end program.

Unsupported audio device, but apparently this happens with alot of audio hardware with this game, the configuration Utility seems to be malfunctioning ... it locks Resolution and/or aspect ration and cannot be changed.

Thank you for the UL ToeD, but I have not been able to get the second 7-zip file to open.

I deleted that file from the DL and re-downloaded it, but I get the same message on the second DL too.

Took a bit of time, but works nice now. Using Vista 32-bit, turn off UAC and DEP. Also note that the mass effect config tool doesn't work in Vista always and there is no fix for it yet. Just start the game using MassEffect.exe

Have you tried right-clicking on it and using "run as administrator"? I'm assuming your using Vista. Don't worry about the file size, if your using 7zip it will extract correctly, assuming you've finished downloading the torrent to 100%

You don't extract them separately. 7Zip should auto extract both files to a folder about 9.9gigs in size. You just right-click on the 001 file, go to 7zip and choose extract files. MassEfx-7z.001 should be 4.15gigs with MassEfx-7z.002 be 1.01gigs.
As for your other problem, try googling it. There may be some solutions posted up there. h88p://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93918, try here. Otherwise, the last resort is to do a full reinstall of windows.

Should be options for 7-zip. Right-click in the file, got to 7-zip and select extract here. If that doesn't work then the file you downloaded might actually be damaged. You can try downloading it again. Try to redownload the file to teh same location, and utorrent should go 'checking files'. If that still doesn't work, then sorry, you might have to download the entire thing again.

You know, IMO, I think it's about time we start treating these noobs like noobs. This isn't the first time I've downloaded an otherwise good game plagued by ****ty hacks and unorthodox distribution. After Instaaling the crack it might give u some error, but if u follow the instruction its ****a work.

hey guys i'm not sure issit just me or some people using vista experiece this prob as well... Games from toed like cryostasis and mass effect are the only games i have prob running... thr is no sort of error when launching.. i did run vista.exe for both as the instruction said.. i let the vista.exe run after awhile i press esc and a registry editor popped up i agree to add it into my registry.... i can start the game but at the main screen it is extremely laggy. definitely not a prob with my graphic card or hd space... what can i do to solve this prob.. only toed rips has this vista.exe which i think is quite troublesome... sry

MassEffectConfig.exe crashes everytime it is run. Running MassEffect.exe works, and editing settings ingame works too.

Alright, i got it working after having many problems, but the game works perfect.
Here's what you need to do:
1. You download the latest 7Zip.
2. Open massefx 001 with 7Zip, and extract everything to your desktop into a foldor ( or anywhere you want ).
3. Open the foldor and activate the Launcher.
4. Wait ( Recommanded with a cup of tea, and a cookie unless your on a diat ).
5. Enter the game. ( No crack needed unless were talking about the other kind of Crack which is always highly recommanded.... )

well, the game doesnt work for me, have read whole forum here but havent found the solution. i have all the requirements and can run all the recent games perfectly (dead space, fallout 3 etc etc), but even if i do everything that should be done here, the only thing i get is an error (mass effect configuration utility) and then adios. i´ve run that system requirements analyzer (or whatever it is called) and the only thing that was "failed" was my free disk space - but i doubt it could make this game not running. dont know what to do.

IF THE GAME ISN"T LOADING THE WAY IT SAYS IN THE INSTRUCTION, THAN GOTO, THE BINARIES FOLDER AND DOUBLE THE MASS EFFECT APPLICATION ICON THAT LOOKS LIKE AN "M" THAT SHOULD GET THE GAME STARTED.

I'm getting the '..has encountered a problem and needs to be closed' error and finally found a way out. Apparently, you can't run the config tool when using a Quad processor so just play the game by running the main exe found on Binaries folder. Like Drive:\PC_Mass Effect -ENG+FULL -.direct play.-ToeD\Mass Effect\Binaries\MassEffect.exe

hey toed, had a quick question, was hopin you or someone could help me out.
downloaded fine, did the setup (the one with the music), and it pops up, and says wait. then it says press esc to exit, and starts showin the thanks and whatnot. but i can't exit by pressing esc, the only way to exit it is to alt+ctrl+delete.
then once that is done, i run the "make shortcut" thing, and try to open game, and windows closes it instantly.
do i have to let the first setup run until it closes by itself?
i have windows vista, any suggestions? really want to try this one out.

oh and i couldn't figure out why this wasn't working for months and i forgot about it and then the other day i found the .exe file in the binaries folder and it runs the game perfect.

this will be my last upload. (except the one or other request!) for several reason i am NOT UPLOADING games for the next couple weeks(months). due to the fact that iam not having the time anymore.ahwell what shall i say...its Summer Time... isnt it?.
iam in the UnitedStates... end of july/august thats one of a few reasons.
there are plenty more, like iam sick of you ALL... ha!, just kidding here!!!.
