No need to open license file. Just during installation, u will be asked for it and select it. through installation window. it is ok. no other way.

@crangton, if u hav Avira PSS8 already installed and u jst want to renew ur license key; click on the running Avira program, Help, Load license file, then locate the key heartbug gave us.. ur license will then be renewed to 4/17/2014..

@ 41/42 - Its not a copy/paste kinda deal, its more like a "registry" kinda deal. When u get to the licensing part hit the "Browse" button next to it... Then browse to the license key file provided with the download then hit add/ok/whatever & your gold. Hope this helps...
