Just for let the Americans know. Actually was China which won the medal board count.
Gold medal has a higher value, not the total count of medal as the U.S media shown.

1st - China: Gold 51; Silver 21; Bronze 28
2nd - USA : Gold 36; Silver 38; Bronze 36

China kicked some asses in there !

5.Posted by ihopnes on Aug 25 2008 at 06:24

i agree, sorry ass loser americans try to justify their loss of power by going against what the whole world believes. the fact is that no one in the world but USA ranks by total medal count, which does not make any frickin sense because a bronze is obviously not as good as a gold.

6.Posted by noamericano on Aug 25 2008 at 06:52

this is cbc, canadian network. which i think is missing some, cause im from canada and it said it'd be on for 6 hours but maybe the first couple and last couple of hours were non ceremony related. i hope

7.Posted by MrRawat on Aug 25 2008 at 07:51

Fellas, it will only be fair to count the medals tally not for Individual States but for Peoples/Races. Whatever country they might have represented, it is obvious that apart from a Phelps here or there, the BLACK PEOPLE have been a clear winner over YELLOW PEOPLE, WHITE PEOPLE and NOT-SO WHITE or BROWN PEOPLE. :) >-) :) In many European teams and the US team there were more AFRICANS or EX-AFRICANS than "LOCAL" FOLKS. There is justice and compensation in nature, afterall. Three Cheers for our BLACK BROTHERS!! USAIN BOLT specially!

And besides china may lose some of those medal's if the cheating becomes the truth.

9.Posted by Flyingshrapnel on Aug 25 2008 at 11:10

Cheating? what cheating? I will hold post 10 c4bl36u9 accountable for his or her statement. In the end, there will be none, and people like this poster will just find other thing to bad mouth a great host country. Pure racism and bigotry. Put out such irresponsible words on board without any evidence is showing how immature this person is. If you want talk about cheating. Just look at how many western sport figures, especially American athletics in various sport from cycling (Armstrong) to basketball, boxing, golfing, horse racing, and particularly the baseball has lodes of people get exposed with doping test year in and year out. And these are facts, not some B.S. statements from gutless people without truth.
Thanks for the uploader for a quick copy for people who has to work for honest living and miss out the TV broadcast.

10.Posted by HAVOC666 on Aug 25 2008 at 11:31

@flying shrapnel... the alledged cheating involved mostly memember of the chinese gymnastics team involving some of the women alledgedly being underage, thus far yet to be proven.

11.Posted by y1y2y3y4y5 on Aug 25 2008 at 11:33

what broadcast channel is it. plz i want to know. anyone who downloaded this should know.

12.Posted by passionforge on Aug 25 2008 at 13:03

@12: I thought cheating was about gene-doping, i didn't know underage was cheating. How hard would it be to prove? Believe it or not, the Chinese also have birth certificates! Well done on sounding intelligent!

13.Posted by maleman on Aug 25 2008 at 13:49

Imagine if a country won only bronze medals, say 150 bronze medals,
would they be rank the number one country in the medals tally? :P

14.Posted by kave786 on Aug 25 2008 at 13:53

Haha .. America is such sore losers ..
Those accusations of cheating .. is pure racism and ignorance ..

Just like the british media .. even when you lose you have to pretend you won really ..
even if by accusing the real winners of cheating ..

I believe the 11.Flyingshrapnel said it best ..
Americans are caught cheating on drugs all the time!!!!

I heard one US news claiming the Chinese gymnasts looked younger than 16 because their eyes were different and not developed yet ..
how racist is that ignorant **** ..
yes some races are smaller than others ..

And besides its only the Americans who create this racist competition and really want to defeat the other team ..
whenever US athletes won the Chinese congratulated them ..
Whenever the chinese won .. the Americans hit them with racist sore loser bull ****

15.Posted by rottenjohnny1963 on Aug 25 2008 at 13:57

china can talk ****,but unless you a on an american competition level,
do yor whining and crying elsewhere please!!! :) :)

16.Posted by Flyingshrapnel on Aug 25 2008 at 14:00

Hi HAVOC666, exactly, it is unproven, yet, some people with different agenda will **** it out in the air and let the lie propagate itself. The liar were never hold accountable for their action. I heard this type of allegation too. Can you tell an age of a young Chinese girl by the way she look? My niece is near 40 years old as yet, my American friend thought she is a high school student. These 2008 Olympics events are just too important for China to let a few to destroy the hard works that so many had contributed. It has been reported a few year back that a continue doping test to ensure no one with problem will be anywhere on Olympics team. American forget their own problems involving sports. I live in Kentucky, and know all about the cheating in horse racing. Not just doping horse to get better performance, also do something like stuck sponge in the horse airway to slow them down.

17.Posted by urname12345 on Aug 25 2008 at 14:23

how about who cares about the medal count... the olympics are supposed to bring people and countrys together. how about better questions like, quality of this file, were there commercials during the broadcast? stop arguing over stupid medal counts. all the countrys did great and they should all be given a standing ovation for there performances.

Wow, Where is the Olympic Spirit among us all who have shared this wonderful moment over the web? I guess the competition continues even after the games are over but has mutated into vehement winning intensive matter rather than exercising good "sportmanship."

However, I do agree to add all the medals won into a tally without accounting for the differences between gold, silver and bronze is a little shadowy and strikes of the 'clever' stuff lawyers would do.

I really didn't care if the Athletes were "White," "Black," or "Asian;" I enjoyed them all and appreciated the dedication and hard work they put into their events. This was a wonderful olympics, very well orchestrated and managed by the Chinese authorities and people - a lot of people volunteered in China whereas, in most other places they would have been paid workers. Thank you China - for a wonderful olympics!

See you all in 2012, maybe the World championships?

20.Posted by Flyingshrapnel on Aug 25 2008 at 14:33

More about collegiate basketball or football players went through 4 year in college as yet can't do basic math and barely spell their own name correctly. If they don't get draft to the pro rank, how many ends up working as sanitary specialist(a.k.a. garbage pick up man)? How about point shaving scandal in college ball game? How many colleges get sanctioned by NCAA for cheating? Who are the on the latest list? Minnesota, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, or Illinois, to name a few. As yet, it seems most American accept those facts as norm. Congress hearing on Baseball player doping ends up with players accusing each other doing the doping on national TV. Quite a circus out there, LOL. The famed cyclist, Armstrong doping test positive, yet he and American public still denying. Sporting cheating? American write the book on how to do it. Let all the dirty laundry out in the open before accusing others and better look themselves in the mirror. Enough is enough, I am out here!

21.Posted by ransley on Aug 25 2008 at 15:04

why age matter, if a girl of 5 can doing all that stuff, I'm fine with she can get a gold medal no matter what's her nationality.
And even if He Kexin only 14 , it won't change the fact that Chinese leading the madal standing, except that US count their own way.

22.Posted by Throllist on Aug 25 2008 at 15:14

Flyingshrapnel, I do agree with most of what you underlined about cheating in sports and particularly in American sports. Nevertheless, the allegations concerning Armstrong have never been confirmed by the scientific community headed by WADA.

Morevover, Armstrong's tour victories have not been withdrawn, why? Similarly, the accusations are based on old urine samples from 1999. Armstrong was accused of having traces of EPO in his 1999 B sample, which was saved at the French laboratories. However, there were no tests for EPO back in 1999.

The accusations first appeared in L'Equipe, a French newspaper and has never been substantiated. Rumors are not enough though; legal and scientific facts are necessary. Samples that have been laying around a laboratory for 5 or more years would never stand legally. Furthermore, scientifically these allegations are void because they are based on only the "B" sample - which was also outdated.

23.Posted by Flyingshrapnel on Aug 25 2008 at 16:00

Hi Throllist, I am glade that you brought this up and outline it perfectly as I want. Although, I know all the detail about it, and want using it to illustrate my point, But, I can't do it because of limit space the forum allowed. But, I leave it there twice to let some American whom familiar to the case think about the issue. Now, how do you American feel hearing the filmsy accusation put forward by France about an American icon Lance Armstrong? You hear entire different take if you go outside the good old USA, especially in France. Not I am glade this is happening, but, like American like to say: If it is good for the goose, it is good for the gander.

24.Posted by fock3d on Aug 25 2008 at 16:05

racism and bigotry? try nationalism and competitiveness..which is the point of the games. did you ever play a game and find out that someone didn't follow the rules?? it undercuts the whole point of the game and gets you heated, a level playing field so to speak.

#23 there are rules, you have to follow them. not waiting four more years because, yeah, she was close enough in the state's opinion only made he kexin's spectacular performance into a scandal. do you think it was her fault?? hell no, she was probably forced into it.

not to mention the view of americans in the world's eyes based on the american media..do you think we are all just sheep following whats on tv?? that just makes you the bigot..the american media is agenda-corporate based shlock that in some countries serves as anti-american propoganda just set in their lap.

anyway this thread has really taken the olympic spirit out of what was a great games so much that i dont even want to download this torrent anymore

25.Posted by zaidshaikh on Aug 25 2008 at 16:15

it just a fantastic olympics and amazing sports evant.chinese people that they are most frindely people in the world see yaa 2012 in londen.

26.Posted by MrRawat on Aug 25 2008 at 16:37

China did a wonderful job! Beijing Olympics were the best organized ever. No doubt about that. The dreamlike Opening and Closing Ceremony were the most spectacular and left old Hollywood far behind. And the little Chinese girl needs to be congratulated as regardless of her age she won in a fair competition. I agree that the colour and race and nationality have nothing to do with the Olympic movement. The previous posting was supposed to be a joke. We are one species called "**** Sapiens" and as the genetic research suggests we have Y-chromosomal Adam as single forefather and mitochondrial Eve as single foremother. Let us just enjoy these wonderful downloads and stop US bashing. Irrational Anti-Americanism is as meaningless as racism in general.

27.Posted by KimmyP86 on Aug 25 2008 at 19:20

okay...seriously...all this bashing back and forth with the countries is getting ridiculous and completely immature...come on ppl. This is the olympics! About everyone coming together....HELLO!!
And to everyone talking about China cheating...they're not bashing them...they are being looked at for a few of their athletes being underage...
#12....its called the country can obviously change birth certificates if they want to...it's THEIR country...wow....u're bright. lol

k...i know how much some people dislike the Americans..im somewhat along the same lines...considering some of them think us canadians ALL live in igloos...lol...HOWEVER stop trashing other ppl and their countries....seriously how old are you?? very trashy, low and immature...honestly now.
i agree with #23...this thread has completely taken away the spirit and the meaning of the Olympic games!

28.Posted by craigjkb on Aug 25 2008 at 19:47

;) ok... we all know that china cheated but no one will do anything about it in end two months from now no one will care! until 2012 lol

29.Posted by firstforlast on Aug 25 2008 at 19:51

Torrent is the first half of the Canadian CBC broadcast. Not bad audio and video for the file size (taken from Hi-Def broadcast but obviously compressed)

A-8.5
V-8.5

(There is some focus on the Canadian athletes more than others during the ceremonies due to the broadcast, but none of the main choreographed performances from the Chinese is missed)

Video ends at the moment the Olympic flag is passed to London's Mayor

I'm chinese. hello! Our gym girls did not cheat. they just look small because they have the goal to win the gold. every one of them must keep the body weight around 30kg! When the girls talking you will find they are actually very mature. and you look closely into their face you will find something can be felt only from an adult.i'm here more concerning about their health than age.

31.Posted by nonstopthinker on Aug 25 2008 at 23:56

It is no surprise that the ****** americans are trying to find an excuse for their defeat...shame on them...most of them know most us athletes are doped...take marion jones for example..it is just a matter of time before they are caught..its difficult to catch them cuz they use new and advanced drugs...take the 100m finals for example..there were many wilda card entries from us in the 100m final for example...how do u think they go in there?? ...every olympics this is the case..thanks to usain bolt for his hard work, the americans had no answer for him......cheers to uain,..u rock! and quit complaining abt china...we all know abt the hard qoek they put in since last olympics..the americans just know to complain and hurt other nations when the whole world was congratulating brining for its hard work and progress...

32.Posted by ak15567 on Aug 26 2008 at 00:13

How'd Americans lose? They beat in medal count and let's say for an example Gold=3 Silver=2 and Bronze=1.

China: Gold 51; Silver 21; Bronze 28
USA : Gold 36; Silver 38; Bronze 36

China: 223
51x3= 153
21x2= 42
28x1= 28

USA: 230
36x3= 108
38x2= 86
36x1= 36

If you looked at it that way USA wins....again so up all ur people's asses except China coz they put actually up a good fight and quit *****ing USA wins again hot damn we good.

33.Posted by ole_12_boy on Aug 26 2008 at 00:30

poor the US, the whole world already put in the newspapers that they already lost...

BUT, only in the US they rank countries based on the total of medals!...OMG OMG...this is fucccccking weird aye?!?

CHINA WON THIS OLYMPIC!...JUST STOP THIS DEBATE AND ACKNOWLEDGE U LOST!

ACCEPT IT! :) :X :)

34.Posted by Rhinorebel on Aug 26 2008 at 00:35

How about you take into account the population of each country and divide their medal count by their population??? Someone do the math and you will see some "smaller" countries absolutely smashed the bigger countries!! And with nowhere near the ***** thrown at their athletes either!! :P

Oh, I'm Australian!!!

35.Posted by Rhinorebel on Aug 26 2008 at 00:36

Since when is "budget" a swear word???

36.Posted by smithdogg on Aug 26 2008 at 00:40

some of these comments are a bit over the top..!
you can't say that USA got smoked.... they still won more medals in more sports.. China got a disproportionate amount of golds in some of the events they dominate (diving / weightlifting / table tennis etc) where there is less international competition...

I'm an Aussie so we performed similarly with the USA with an even spread between the medals and over a good spread of sports... also we nabbed one of the chinese diving gold :)

also - sydney was the best olympics! >-)

37.Posted by Throllist on Aug 26 2008 at 00:57

Nice try with that fictitious and arbitrary ranking of the medals, lmao. What is your basis for making Gold worth only 3? Athletes have thrown away their silvers while others put them in their pockets.

However, let us humor you and take your own #s:
Golds at 9 points, silvers 6 & bronze 3. Your #s at a factor of 3.
China: 669 >--> 51x9= 459 21x6= 126 28x3= 84

USA: 660 >--> 36x9= 324 38x6= 228 36x3= 108

Like I said at the beginning nice try - hahaha so funny. You my friend gets 8 more points for your immense effort, but still fall a point shy of victory.

38.Posted by Throllist on Aug 26 2008 at 03:21

ak15567 OMG!!!

This is even more funny and weird than I originally thought. This is getting sad really and I hate to kick a man when he's down in the gutter gasping for air with a tin cup in hand begging for a dime in order to go purchase a bottle of cheap wine.

Yet, still, we must shed light on the dark and macabre, especially when they occur at things a 6 year old should master. Class review folk, ready?
ak15... said: China: 223 51x3= 153 21x2= 42 28x1= 28 which is correct.
BUT!!!
USA: 230??? 36x3= 108 38x2= 86 ??? 36x1= 36 (INCORRECT, i.e., wrong)

38x2= 76 which would give USA a total of 220 {AND NOT} 230

Why am I debating compulations with someone who can't even perform simple arithmetic functions?

Next time use google calculator, it may save you the embarassment.

39.Posted by hithere2 on Aug 26 2008 at 03:32

I think the idea of debating who "won" the entire Olympics is a little near-sighted. How are we defining winning? By what country got more medals? Overall that seems to be the US. Are we measuring which country got more gold? That's absolutely, far and away, China. But I don't think the Olympics should really be about which country "beat" which in what.

On it's face, sure, it's athletes from country X versus athletes from country Y. But you have to take a step back to see what the Olympics really is. It's a world stage where people of a dizzying array of nations come together as not just competitors, but colleagues and brethren. Can you imagine how amazing it must be for somebody who spends their life training for an event that isn't a major sport in their country, and to come to the Olympics and find other people who who share their passions for that sport?

40.Posted by hithere2 on Aug 26 2008 at 03:32

Or how about the monumental honor it is to host such an important event in modern history? It really says something about your country and your status in the world when you get to have guests from every corner of the globe, entertainment, put on a show, and leave them smiling. That's something that lasts longer than anyone's memory of medal counts. Many people might know the numbers, but many more people sat there in awe as China put on a pair of opening and closing ceremonies that blew the world away. That's a legacy that they will always have, long after this thread goes cold.

41.Posted by hithere2 on Aug 26 2008 at 03:33

And what about the story of athletes who battled to get to the games for their country under immense struggle, such as the amputee woman from South Africa? Some people can't swim with their two legs, and this person found the courage and strength to swim with only one. That's a story that speaks to the real humanity in each of us. And that's what we need to take from the meeting of the Olympians. The fact that in the end, we're all human, and even though we have ties to nations that separate us, the Olympics is a time to come together and marvel at a place, a time, and an experience that leaves it's mark in a profound way for an entire generation.

"Hithere," you hit here & there on the head. Well said! Your points were what most of us were originally trying to convey about the XXIX Olympiad and the Olympic spirit in general. Nevertheless, when points were raised that were obviously erroneous well, the cretinism had to be refuted.

Anyhow, peace, I'm out of here. :)

45.Posted by ak15567 on Aug 26 2008 at 05:52

@throllist

lol i found out that i did the caluclations wrong after my double-check but decided to not edit it and see how many epople would catch it, it took u two tries to find my mistake(and who knows how long u spent) even tho u just theortically times the medals point by 3 which doesn't even make any sense other than having a number value 3 times the reduced value.

I may be a bum asking for some cheap wine but at least i didnt spend 2 hours and 24 minutes wasting my life on tripling an equation just to find out i'd end up with the same answer if i reduced the medal's value.

P.S. They throw away silver or pocket it? Olympics gather the BEST people from EVERY ****ing Nation around the WORLD and u get 2nd isn't ****IN half bad, the guy carrying the silver can brag about being second best saying he could do it better than ur sorry ass can.

46.Posted by y1y2y3y4y5 on Aug 26 2008 at 12:14

u noe australia is the best in the olympics. just because we didnt have cathy freeman we just lost some of athletics medals.

btw, wat broadcast is this?????????????????

47.Posted by Throllist on Aug 26 2008 at 15:42

ak15567 lol, I see you keep trying to muddle the facts and change reality even here on this comment section.

2 hours 24 minutes? ROFL, try 2 minutes 24 seconds bucko!!!

And oh yeah, we all believe that a standoffish son of breach like you would post an OBVIOUSLY RIDICULOUS set of numbers on purpose JUST TO TEST US???

hahaha hahaha hahaha you really ought to try comedy mate.

Get a clue son! The point was that even using your numbers your great REVELATION was always a FLOPPER! Tripling was merely my good deed for the day - raised the margin of victory so that I could give you an extra little help with 8 points for effort. But even with that you still fall short.

Bye short stuff :)

Take your licks dude and go nurse your wounds and your ego.

Hey! OG****iN What in the god's name are you yelping about? One big long sentence without break. In the end, you call other people stupid? Is the American education system really that bad? that poster lack basic skill in math or communication with proper English? It is not nice to give other reader a headache by writing gibberish like that! Nobody do the American bashing until someone on the board start bad mouthing China with unfounded accusation in a desperate hope to cut down the Gold Medal count. Even after that, no hatred was expressed toward America other than pointing out the hypocrisy American themselves seems never understood. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. You better not throw mud around, because you will not like it once it hits the fan. You can dish it out, but you sure can't take it.

So glad to get the ceremonies without all the commercials that NBC puts in. Thanks!

56.Posted by citrix on Sep 01 2008 at 19:07

we are talking about video here, not american losers.

take all your math skills home. all websites count medals in order of countries with most gold medals. only american websites list number of total medals first. this make it look like american is outstanding. that is cheating.

NBC reporter ask IOC president about an american swimmer was 14, he said it is OK. why americans pick other countries have underage problem. american LOSERS. :)

we just saw the greatest olympics game in history, best opening and closing ceremony ever. >-)

NBC video add commercials and images of amiercans winning in middle. make it look like olympics is only for americans. LOSERS. :r
