this is the year 2008 and still there a people that truly believe there is a god, it amazes me that the IQ of these people can still be so barbaric and primitive... they have been brainwashed and just don't have the brain capacity to escape.

2.Posted by namehere on Sep 04 2008 at 05:23

yeah, lame

3.Posted by fischju on Sep 04 2008 at 05:44

4.Posted by ultrAslan on Sep 04 2008 at 08:21

osco, if you don t have anything to believe in, you are basically nothing... there is no correlation between the time and believing in something! open your eyes, or if you don t wanna, SHUT THE **** UP!

Im always reminded by this quote when Science battles Spirituality,

"If our Gods and our hopes are nothing but scientific phenomena, then it must be said that our love is scientific as well." -L'Eve Future

Yeah, good quote.

6.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 09:23

You mean Villiers' L'eve future?, .. The book where Tom Edison creates an android to replace a real woman, not for any physical reason mind you but because the real woman's character, in fact by extension most women's characters are considered so deplorable and soulless that an android is a better, more "humane" person, but then said android is ultimately destroyed because the man who claims to love her decides to travel with her stored with the cargo in the hull of the ship,.. to save on the tickets I assume.
Interesting choice .. I'm still not exactly sure what your getting at thou.

7.Posted by flamingice on Sep 04 2008 at 09:49

This is not the full book. It's an advertisement for the book. Don't waste your time dloading.

Yep, interesting indeed mad-john! Me smells parading, woman-bashing christians alright!!! "Get back in yo' place Jezebel!". The truth unfortunately is NOT taught by the modern religious churches of ANY denomination. If you zealots ever wake from your trudging sleep it'll be too late to realise just how hard your religious leaders have stomped on you to get what THEY wanted. The "one true god" you worship every week in church is actually the same "one true god" your political rulers worship, the one GW always says will "be with America" when it goes to wage war on the next enemy needing democritisation - and no, it ain't spelt G-O-D in their knowing cliques.... Wake up christians - YOU ARE BEING USED AND YOU DON'T EVEN REALISE IT!!!

And isn't it just so revealing that the 2 responses to first 2 posts both used expletives to defend their "faith". A perfect "revelation" of perfect programming ;)

9.Posted by GaijinIchiban on Sep 04 2008 at 13:06

Wow. I like the responses.

Mad John- I saw that quote cited in the Ghost in the Shell Innocense movie (Anime)and it always stuck with me. Your explanation of the book makes a lot of sense as to why the they chose to cite it. I just think that people are either all science or all spiritual, and none moderate. I threw that quote out there w/o giving it much thought in an attempt to be diplomatic i guess.

Prawn- I think its my Lust thats a chemical reaction to encourage me to reproduce, Im not so sure about Love though.

10.Posted by katchthis on Sep 04 2008 at 17:36

It is he who sites the quotes of the name of the lord, than then he is a son and a prisoner no less

11.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 18:50

crakka.. what are you on about?
I get your point that religion is about indoctrination and reducing the thoughts and questions that people are allowed to hold but you seem to be missing the point that most people enjoy that, this isn't something that is enforced from outside, most actively seek it out. They like to feel that they belong, they're lazy and enjoy having to think less, and they definitely like the security and satisfaction of knowing that they are absolutely in the right, irrelevant of the fact of what ever they may be "right" about, in fact often not even too clear on exactly what they're supposed to be actually believing .. they just know they are righteous and it makes them warm inside.

12.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 18:51

But I think its important to note that while they may all be called the one true God, they're actually deferent one true Gods, The God of the Jews did not have a son named Jesus, the God of the Christians did not have the one true prophet Mohammed, and none of the Gods think Joseph Smith actually saw anything in his hat.
.. and how is whatever it is your on about spelt?

13.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 19:13

This whole "scientifically proven" thing needs a kick in the rear. It misrepresents science as an out side unassailable authority similar to the "God did it" rather than an ongoing participatory process. It does a disservice to the nature of science as a technic for discovering and dealing with the world rather than a cannon of laws imposed from on high.
As I've said time and time again its logically impossible to prove a positive, you can't prove that a hypothesis is correct only if it, or others are wrong.

14.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 19:13

Oxytocin - the cuddle drug- is one of the hormones suggested to be at the root of our feelings of love and possibly a motivator for monogamy. Levels rise during courtship, pregnancy, and play crucial roles during birth and then continue to be relatively high for 4 to 7 year after. It has been suggested this is the time required for a child to grow to be relatively self reliant and there fore no longer in need of both parents. Drop in oxytocin is thought to be behind the inductively documented seven year itch, where most couple break up or start pursuing extramarital affairs.
It should be noticed that love seems to be by no means a solely human emotion. As most of the romantic poets have noted parallels are strong in the animal kingdom especially among birds who perform elaborate courtship rituals, and often mate for long periods if not life. One should also note that recent studies have shown that among birds that mate and nest for life cheating is common and often, yet another parallel with us.

15.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 19:36

GaijinIchiban you said "I just think that people are either all science or all spiritual, and none moderate." I hope this isn't true.
While perhaps you could argue science and religion are at odds and directly contradict each other, I personally think this can only be argued if you focus solely on the zealot based evangelical churches of the USA type, {note I include the Muslim radical schools in this group as it has been well documented as to how strongly they've been influenced by the evangelical/literalist movement} and their missionary movement inspired offshoots. Members of most other Churches, even the modern Catholic church, are quite capable of compartmentalizing their religious and practical lives. In fact the vast majority of famous scientist of history have done just that and it doesn't necessarily diminish either side..

16.Posted by mad-john on Sep 04 2008 at 19:37

To extend your statement outside of religion to spiritual I would have to say is quite wrong.
I find it hard to imagine that one could decide to spend one life working for most often very little pay pursue the study of distant galaxies, the dance of motion, or the matting habit of snails with out being motivated in some way by an appreciation of the subtle and intriguing hidden beauty that in my mind defines the spiritual sense. If you read many writings of scientist you will find them most often brimming with poetry and spiritual insight that is actually increasingly rare among the polemic of the vocal religious right

17.Posted by HoboJoJo on Sep 04 2008 at 23:07

So what, that my church may be interested more in my *****. Which do you think is better, ***** to my church, and charity, or my ***** to my government, to build more bombs and guns to kill others in the world who don't read the same Holy Book as I do? We all worship the same one true God, but spell it out differently, due to a direct reflection of our local cultures... Thank You...

18.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 01:41

christians, the christian army swept through out he world slaughtering innocent people at one point, can you base your belief on this religion?
belief canot be based on anything like religion or science, belief is a self consious way of dealing with your own mortality,
if you get a heaven or a hell then thats what you et, i think this book is more how to beat your personal hell. over 60% of the worlds population has had a mental illness at some stage of their lives, peoples emotions when they are sad alot or angry or even too happy,,,

19.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 01:42

these can be related to mental illness, this book is a a life boat for people with probems in their own lives and you all should be ashamed for trying to engage in a rivalous battle of ignorance and earthly created babble. if you want to boast you ever eagre interest in your beliefs find somewhere else to do it you ****s.

20.Posted by mad-john on Sep 05 2008 at 02:39

I started to respond to santirock, about how his points about the solar system, developing "properly" and the eye where base on major misconceptions.. then..
well,, then I read more,..
and I realized when he was talking about mental illness it was from personal experience,..

I've tried to talk to crazy people before, and its pointless, crazy people are very selfish, they can't be bothered to listen because no else's problems are as important as their own.

21.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 02:42

"Dare to WIN the BATTLE against your MIND" <- These tactics are evil, and no ends justify these means.

can you explain your enigma polenta2?

stop being a critic, psyco babble is what you talk about, i don't care about this book, i just care that people get better from reading it. if people want to lead a normal life and this is their way then who are any of you to shark attack this?

so what if this is projected at a minority of people who happen to believe in a higher being or excistance. IT'S THEIR CHOICE!!!

22.Posted by spartan415 on Sep 05 2008 at 02:46

This is garbage. Utter refuse. Win the battle against your mind...how weak willed are these people? I honestly have to agree in part with the first poster; religion is a major reason we are in the mess we are in now. Religion is synonymous with organized crime; if you want to argue the point check your historical facts, bub.

23.Posted by spartan415 on Sep 05 2008 at 03:51

This dudes a *****! :r

24.Posted by mad-john on Sep 05 2008 at 03:54

The Reformers Mega Kit!!!! wow!! that sound GREEAT!! where can I get mine?,.. do they come in different colours? .. I know! I'll get one for every member of my family!
Wow thank you Jonas' Books and CDs I was so unfulfilled before I found you, and now my whites are whiter as well.

25.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 04:10

ok, i'm thrown, but my point is still valid, to each his own, its their choices not yours or anybody elses to make. it's amazing to think that we are so opinionated about other people but never stop and realise that it doesn't matter, it's water off a ducks back. i had a girl friend who i adored but she slowely went crazy, she made it back, she is normal again, she doesn't have that empty look in her eyes anymore that was like staring into eye's that couldn't see but they were perfectly healthy eyes and it was because of the right words at the right time that something in side her decided to fight.

26.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 04:10

she heard voices, it was her personal demons, but something in side her didn't give up. so thats why i lashed out on this page. if you all want a debate then go to a forum and leave people to their own choices. ask for this guy who wrote it, well if it's not to help people then he will find out soon enough what it is to be evil.

27.Posted by santirock69 on Sep 05 2008 at 04:29

trust me i have no favour of extorsion, and i think i get your point now polenta but yes about torrent content but not about normative ethics, thats where it gets out of hands and offends people and religions and beliefs. i got to go now but yeah polana2 it's been good. thanx for your empathy. keep up the good fight. oh and she is very well now thanks. we are not together anymore but she is a god friend. bye

28.Posted by iaidodude on Sep 05 2008 at 16:04

WoW good debate from the mainly 'non' christian's :)
HoboJoJo read the old testament bloke it's "say's" Thou shall have no other gods before me for I am a jealous god.
Which menas there is more than 1 diety out there accordeing to big old jehovah.
But I do Like Robert Anton Wilson's quote from the Irish time's...

"To what degree of metaphor can a timeless being be said to have a plan".

One won't find more erudite and eclectic athiest's than those that are jesuit educated. >-)

And Polenta2 I agree it's sad that these 'men of god' are using double binds and nlp 'techniques' to make *****. The 'alpha' 'christians' in the U.K. are balatantly use-ing nlp 'techniques' on their 'flocks'.

BAA to all the sheep out there >-)

The censored word is *********.

31.Posted by ogromano on Sep 05 2008 at 20:26

I couldn't help but click on this torrent to see what it was about... The title just seem too weird. "Dare to WIN the BATTLE against your MIND"... This sounds (to me, of course) like "Don't be afraid to fight your own thoughts and ideas, instead pay me (125 b*cks, at least)to give you some that will make you feel all warm inside and please don't ask how it does that!"
...

32.Posted by ogromano on Sep 05 2008 at 20:26

That little voice inside you is there for a reason and just destroying it (which is usually what losing a battle incurs) is not really a good idea.
If you feel like you don't want to get up on monday to go to work, then believe me, you are more normal than a lot of people and you do not need this scam artist to take your well earned d@11år5 to make you have to work harder to earn them back.
Realize that non-fun or difficult things like work, study and bad relationships are just a part of life... just a PART, not all of it.

You do not need "Vital, Biblical Truths", you need your MIND!!!! So don't battle it. Listen, Feel, Think, Reason and Live!

(that also works in relationships, by the way) :D

33.Posted by mad-john on Sep 05 2008 at 20:40

Last time I tried to use "Reason" in a relationship she threw a frying pan at me.
I don't reconmend it.

34.Posted by iaidodude on Sep 06 2008 at 00:23

Did the pan 'connect'??? :)

35.Posted by mad-john on Sep 06 2008 at 01:14

no,.. but the fried eggs did.
