4.Posted by ransley on Sep 07 2008 at 16:33

Runtime seems pretty short.
it's seems like a 3 hours plus show..
And , I wish someone who have the BBC / NBC/ or whatever English commentary source would upload the file.

I have forgotten to tell you,I cut the delegation parade.

6.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 07 2008 at 19:36

once again, brick, I thank you. my dad has been asking for this for a few days, and I want to see it too. We have **NO** channels in the US to show these games. it's complete bull****. there are no station here that will broadcast the games of the Paralympics. I have to watch it on the IPC website. these athletes deserve to be recognized for their achievements too.

can you upload one w/ the delegation parade also, so we can have the complete ceremony? also any other encodes you have are always welcome. it's impossible to see many of the olympic events in the US because only 1 channel has the rights to show them (NBC).. and lots of commercials.

7.Posted by Stormeh on Sep 08 2008 at 08:33

Hmmm zombiedoctor how can it be a few days if the Paralympic Opening Ceremony was less than 48 hours ago :P

When the DVD comes out over here in Beijing I'll see if I can rip a copy, not sure if it'll have any English voice-overs or subtitles though >_>

The Paralympic Games opening ceremony is as good as Olympic Games opening ceremony. It is not about the Chinese history and culture, it is about the dream and life.

Hope you like it.

zombiedoctor, obbytoo,I don't have enough time to encode and upload?so I make it with low resolution and low bitrate here?http://www.mininova.org/tor/1783653

16.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 09 2008 at 07:40

thanks for making this available, brick.

@Stormeh, my dad has been looking forward to seeing the games for weeks, hoping that there's some coverage on US TV. sadly, there is none. he asked me to BT the opening ceremony before it started.

@wyysoft, easily the WORST part of the ceremony is Andy Lau's performance. His song really ****ed and he had no heart in it. Plus, you'd think his English would be better. i honestly had no idea he was singing in English for a few seconds.

Many of the performances are inspiring and it's great to see people w/ disabilities be so proud and treated with such dignity.

I don't know what's up w the Teletubbies though. they were extremely weird!! they must've been roasting inside those suits.

zombiedoctor:

Which paralympic game does you father want to watch?
Maybe I can put it on *******.

18.Posted by tgbhu on Sep 09 2008 at 08:05

***** is yuotube

19.Posted by chibi_tenko on Sep 09 2008 at 14:19

Wow, zombiedoctor, you sure have a strong hatred/grudge against Andy Lau. No point denying this fact because it's obvious in your post. LOL

Anyway, english is not their mother tongue. I remember the blind man's english was hard to understand as well but do you agree with me that his english is easier to understand than Sarah Brightman's english when she sang You and Me?

Oh well...I personally think everyone performed very well in the opening.

Fav segment : Blind man singing
Least fav segment : The dance representing animal like costumes

this version has sound sync problem. But the graphic is decent! thx

21.Posted by hwang on Sep 10 2008 at 01:57

????????????????

22.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 10 2008 at 06:40

@chibi
i don't really hate Andy Lau. i just think his performance was totally awful, based on artistic merit and musicality. his singing was so lifeless and unemotional, like he was just there to collect a paycheck. it was like watching a wooden puppet stand on stage and repeat 3 lines of lyrics. Jackie Chan's singing during the closing ceremony was bad also tho.

The blind man's English was better. presumably, Lau, being an international star amongst fans of Asian cinema/pop, and HK a former British colony where English was compulsory, his English would be better.

@tgbhu, please no uTube. video there is like watching mud, and you'd likely get a take b/c of DMCA. if you do encode, use h.264 or some other high bitrate codec @ 720p. beggars can't be choosers, so whatever you can do would be greatly appreciated. I know this takes hours, even on a fast PC. i only wanna watch stuff in hi-def these days b/c anything else looks real bad on my HDTV.

23.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 10 2008 at 06:41

"get a take b/c of DMCA" = get a take *DOWN* b/c of DMCA, removal for copyright

to gitawego

Yes you're right, but it's not a big deal. Use MKVToolnix, set audio delay as 500ms, then output again. Perfect....

25.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 12 2008 at 04:48

or use VLC. it has soft audio offset commands, which let you change the delay on the fly via keyboard without altering the original file.

in v0.8.6, "f" and "g" are to delay the audio, so you can press the desired delay key a few times to sync up the sound. i forget which is delays it and which advances the offset.

hey can anyone tell me why i get a frozen picture jus for a few seconds every now and again wen i watch mkv files the audio continues but the picture freezes 4 like 5 seconds should i use a differnt player(i use mostly vlc but it happens whith real player WMP and others that i have 2)or is this type of file intended 4 cellphones etc

27.Posted by ih8tspam on Sep 14 2008 at 10:31

Excellent quality, thank you!

28.Posted by zombiedoctor on Sep 18 2008 at 04:17

@crammer

WMP does not play MKVs natively. you're better off using VLC and ditching WMP altogether. i rarely ever have problems w/ it and don't need to download any codecs.

MKV is not for cellphones. it's a relatively new container format and few players support it. most portable devices support mp4.

it's seems that no chinese website would dare to post videos related to olympics/ paralympics because of the harsh policy , Chinese are all searching foreign website for seeds...
