The 1.2 patch negates any update, so after you "update" the game you have no access to any new content.

in a dos command line windows from the folder that twee_upgrade.exe is in it will extract all the files then you replace the setup.inx with the one in the rar file

got it to work have to use original exe it takes like 1-2hrs to install(modify original files) mine did it in 30-1hr because i have 5600AMD and 3gb of ram when it does this you know you have done it right. it will actually say enhanced edition when booting up if you done it properly
anybody notice there is now no choice at the start where you could fight the mage or the monster kind of weird but it does install the new content because i have seen the new inventory system

I don't understand what you mean about using the original exe etc. I have Odina's version from here. It didn't come as an iso or anything. It actually came as a RAR file which when unpacked, gave you a 'the witcher' folder that you just drop into your c drive program files folder and it just worked instantly (after you added the registry entry of course).
So if the game is already installed, how would you do this? I can still alter files of course and replace executables or tamper with them

I'M TYPING IN BOLD NOT TO YELL BUT BECAUSE I'VE QUADRUPLE POSTED AND NO ONE SHOULD SCAN PAST THIS. I CAN HELP!
I'm now at the phase where it's saying it will take 2 hours to install! But all the extra files like d'jinni and other stuff are starting to appear!
Here's what I did!
Completely replaced the original game's installation to ensure no mess.
replaced the witcher.exe with v1.4 cracked patch
ran the english language installer and ran the update patch
the replaced the witcher.exe version 1.4 crack with the old original patch!
It's doing it!!!!

LAST POST I PROMISE...
Forgot to mention to CHRISTONIAN... I was unsuccessful before when I first replace the patch with the original exe but I'd already run the upgrade... (see above posts for how I got up to the 2 hour stage after that)... but
back before I reached the 2 hour installation that I'm waiting on, I did find some funny things. I DID NOT have the new inventory system with the extra alchemy patch and it DID NOT say 'enhanced version' anywhere. BUT what I did notice is I did NOT get a chance to fight the frightener (just like you said) and also the dialogue and text no longer perfectly matched. The first time I played using only the 1.2 (and later 1.3 patches) and then the dialogue and text almost matched perfectly. With the Eng lang pack and update to EE version installed but with the old .exe replaced (before reinstalling the updates again onto that) I did find what you found..if that makes sense

It should work by doing this:
Install a new copy of the witcher.
Download this: http://img.namipan.com/downfile/c3c53ec1a48bd425445f9ebc7febf46cb4bf9d4a41300200/TWEE_installfix.rar
And this: http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
Install Universal Extractor.
Extract Files from TWEE_Upgrade.exe (ignore the small error).
replace the setup.inx file with the one downloaded from the first link.
Place language pack/s and additional mods into the extracted folder containing setup.exe
Run setup.exe
I'm waiting for it to install...so I'm not sure which cracks work...maybe that mini image file I downloaded from megagames.

can't get this to work, even when you run the upgrade it says the files are only 6.8mb because it sees the 1.4 witcher.exe and thinks you have the rest of the content
i installed it as best i could but yeah the new content is not there
cloneofaclone - your fix almost works only when it starts copying files i get an error "localized.key doesnt match in the files setup.cab
still waiting for a fix, i would love to buy this game but im inbetween jobs ATM

ok dopeman version of the witcher sounds just like your version you downloaded just unrar and put witcher under C and it works
well i went under that rar took out the original .exe pasted it over my 1.4 exe. then had twee_update folder from going under dos and extracting content should say twee_upgrade then Disk1 put the new english lines and setup.inx in it then pressed setup then it started installing for real this time takes about 2-5min for basic install then 1hr+ when gets to the modification of files part, do not do anything when this is happening just let it modify and walk away

after its all done all i did was go under witcher in C and use the launcher it said Enhanced Edition so i started it played it to the first part where you get a Knight Owl (i think) and checked my inventory its the all new system so i guessed everything was done properly
and i did get blood and dismemberment so it doesnt censor your version if you already had the uncensored version

I'm not getting those type of errors now. Scroll up and see how I did it as I did it a rather complex way but you guys won't have trouble if you read what I wrote.
I should note that YOU Do get extra content this way, you get different dialogue & much improved inventory & animation of characters (200 new anims, no more pooncey gesturing all the time). Also the dialogue is smoother with 2000+ new voice overs.
HELP ME NOW PLS! I only needed this update to get voice acting for the adventures. There ARE NO ADVENTURES now if I select the adventures option instead of main game (you'd only know about this if you had v1.3 before) I can't play it with only text after being spoiled by a whole game of witcher with voiceovers. If you gets it working, help me find out why I'm not getting any adventures to choose from in the adventures option list!

So before everyone says it works. PLEASE could you start a new game, don't choose main game, choose adventure and then see if there is anything there ie: the price of neutrality etc or if there's nothing in there to select.
If it is in there... tell me were you upgrading from 1.2 or 1.3 as I have both (though 1.3 requires me to mount an image whereas 1.2 does not). I upgraded it from 1.2. Should I remove it all, start again and try with 1.3?

First of all, thanks go out to the poster who linked to an install fix, which enables you to install the TWEE upgrade without actually registering the game, saved me for DL'ing 12GB. All wooks perfectly here on Vista 64bit.
Sendondly, for those having issues, here's what I did:
1. Installed The Witcher (using the clonedvd from platin)
2. Extracted the TWEE_UPGRADE
3. copied the eng language pack into D:\TWEE_Upgrade\Disk1\
4. Copied the setup.inx into same folder above and overwrote the existing file
5. Ran the setup.exe from the folder above, waited about 15 min for the install to finish (during that the language pack was installed as well)
6. Downloaded the two new adventures and installed them, they are both available in the menu after choosing "new adventures"

Sorry guys but i just followed the instructions as stated by Kickalot and the previous poster in step by step precision (except that i didnt have the new adventures installed). But when i tried to enter the game i get this error message: The Witcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I'm using the CLONE Platin version of the original Witcher.
I'm not sure what's really the problem here, so maybe i'll post the technical details for this error so that you guys can assess it. PLEASE HELP ME

Yes the TWEE installfix was awesome. You can use whatever main exe, the original one or the v1.4 crack versions, they all work with that wonderful install fix. I'm 27 years old, so I know a little DOS which is all you need, from the days when we had to use DOS.
For htose who don't know about dos, go to start>run type in command. You'll get a PC DOS box (not quite MS DOS but close enough) type D: and then cd (whatever directory it's in). You may need to repeat ie: cd games cd the witcher xtras etc. Then follow instructions on what to type.
My problem is that the only reason I wanted this upgrade so bad is to play the adventures with voice acting. I had v1.3 and it has the price of neutrality but without voice I won't play it, it's awful after having voice through the entire play of the witcher.
SO WHERE DID YOU DOWNLOAD THE EXTRA ADVENTURE MODULES? THEY"RE MEANT TO BE INCLUDED! I already have 'the price of neutrality' but even with the 1.4 update there seems to be NO VOICE

What version did you update? I've tried both v1.2 and v1.3. With version 1.2 I got the adventures option but when I tried it, there were no 'adventures' there to choose from at all. When I used v1.3 to update, I had the price of neutrality there but it had no voice acting, the same as before the update!
Do you have voice acting? Which adventure modules do you have?
Pls say step by step how you've done it, what you have and if it's voice acted and works right.

I'm sorry to all those who can't get the TWEE to work. I'm not sure what is going on or how to fix the problems some of you have. All I can say, doing what I did, I have no use for cracks or any hoops to jump and everything works pefectly. I played the new adventure "The price of neutrality" a well written story. And I have voiceovers throughout the story.

Well Im still lost at 1.Run TWEE_Upgrade /extract_all:\TWEE_Upgrade ... I put TWEE_Update in C:\witcher then opened a command line and went to C:\witcher and typed /extract_all:C:\TWEE_Upgrade Because I have a C: drive, not a D: drive so it looked like C:\witcher>/extract_all:C:\TWEE_Upgrade . It told me The filename,directory name, or colume label syntax is incorrect. I even tried it with the D: also even though that's not my hard drive. Hopefuly I gave enough info.

The Installer stopped & complained I did not have the correct Language installed ...that the installed games Lang. was different from the Enhancement Lang pack ...I want English.
I found the Registry entry gave "3" as the existing Lang ...I altered this to "1" & its now installing OK.
I have the original Dopeman version. which was probably basically Russian.
You will have to dig into the Registry for this problem. @@@@@

Me Again ...Installed OK in 45 Mins including the 2 new Adventures.
But the menu did not display any text at all . so I changed that Registry
entry back to 3 ..now have played a bit main game & one adventure & is working fine..looks better tho they haven't enhanced Triss's odd Bosom 
THE OLD VERSION GAME SAVES ARE NOT BEING LISTED UNDER LOAD .
Looks like we have to start all again.

This method doesn't work.
The update bypasses the registration part because it DOESN'T update to version 1.4. The first .exe you have to copy is from version 1.4, so when you try to update, the game detects version 1.4 installed and skips the update part.

Ok well I finally got to extract using universal installer, but it took me like 10 tries before it finally extracted it properly. Then I used the TWEE fix, dropped it into the disk 1 folder the TWEE upgrade generates, and of course had the language pack in there, and it upgraded fine. Well should I say, is upgrading, as its still modifying the game files. Said it would take up to 2 hours, and its been a little over an hour. I didn't modify any of the original witcher files, but I'll see what happens after it finishes upgrading. I think I'll just need the crack that's floating around.
I'll post my results in another day or so! Just for the record I'm using Dopeman's english only RIP. Same as Christonian

Heres what you need to do if you still haven't gotten this to work:
1) Install The Witcher (Do not install any patches or apply any crack just leave it at version 1 )
2) Download and install Universal Extractor http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
3)Download http://**********.com/files/147150173/TWEE_installfix.rar.html
replace the ***'s with **********
4) Download The Witcher: Enhanced Edition patch AND your language Patch at http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/ee_update_faq.html
5)Make a folder called "TWEEextract"

8)Overwrite the original setup.inx with the TWEE_installfix setup.inx (step3)
9)Now the preperations have been made, doublecheck that you did everything you need to do and then double click Setup
10)After the install, run the game, you DO NOT need a crack, it works fine without one.What should have happened is when you got to the Activation page it should have said that you have an activated copy of The Witcher, that is what the TWEE_installfix does. If it doesn't work then uninstall and try again.

For all who are wondering YES This method works perfectly. I already had my version of witcher updated to 1.3 this was possible by using not the cracks but the mini images by poseden. I did exactly as the read me said and when finished instead of putting the witcher12 Russian crack in (which i assume works also) I just put the original EXE. that installed with the game (the one that was there when i installed and then replaced with the crack in1045_witcher.v1.4.5.1282.nodvd.rar in order to bypass needing to be registered. I mounted the mini images onto the virtual ide like usual with Daemon tools and started like normal and all works perfect. So yes installs fine with update 1.3 without having to reinstall. BTW 1.3 only installs using the mini image method and also has the Price of neutrality side quest. Thanks A bunch for this upload. Great job

if you're using the dopeman version (which I'm using myself) you don't need the blood revival patch. Dopeman is EU version which already has blood. Blood revival patch is only for North American versions of the witcher.
I also can confirm infinite0101's method.

After all, I think installing Enhanced Edition - or any patches for The Witcher - is not worthy. That's because it didn't bring any significant improvements and the game got more buggy than the original version. The graphics present practically the same quality, there were no improvement in loading times and I could experience slowdows that weren't in the first version. Regrettable.

The error you are getting is because you don't have a registry entry for the game Witcher.
Double click the file regsetup.exe in the Witcher directory to get rid of that error. (Its in the Dopeman's Witcher version)
I am also using the dopeman version of The Witcher.I get this error during installation of Enhanced edition after following all the guides above.
CRC Error : - The file C:- ......\The Witcher\Data\localized.key doesn't match the file in setup's.cab file.The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted ;contact your software vendor.
I think Dopeman's version can't be upgraded to Enhanced edition.

(Maybe it’s not the only way, and maybe it will not work for everybody but seems to work on a lot of computers...)
1st of all) Install a new copy of the Witcher (uninstall all the others copies, cr*ck, patch and so on)
2) Download the patch The Witcher EE (1.4), and the optional quests if you want to. (And checked the size when one it’s done, we never know!)
3) RENAME THEM! Put the official names for all your downloads (Strangely, it appears to soluce a lot of problem of “incompatible languages”. If you don’t do that, you will have a “language error” during the installation)
- “TWEE_Upgrade.exe” for the patch,
- “TWEE_French_language_pack” (if, like me, you wanna install French languages),
- “TWEE_adventure_The_Price_of_Neutrality” and ”TWEE_adventure_Side_Effects” for optional quests.

Atari, etc have changed the way the Installshield Installer works for their patchers.
The above mentioned methods no longer work. You can no longer extract the .exe file using command-line switches or Uniextract.
Here is the easiest way to do it (and there is no easy way for them to prevent this). You -MUST- have Show Hidden Files/Directories enabled:
Step One: Download the afore-mentioned TWEE_installfix.rar, mentioned in several above posts.
Step Two: Initiate the official patch installer. Do not click anything else in it. Leave it running.
Step Three: Open (where C:\ is your OS drive) C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name - This is your User Profile Name>\Local Settings\Temp

Step Four: Find the temporary directory being used by the installer and copy it to the drive of your choice.
Example of what this folder will look like: C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name - This is your User Profile
Name>\Local Settings\Temp\{408FDF3E-3924-4322-A90E-28603700B3AA}\.
It will contain: A folder named Disk1, two files named _setup.dll and setup.ini
Disk 1 will contain a bunch of files including the setup.inx file that you need to replace.
Step Five: After you copy over the temp folder being used by the installer to the drive of your choice, exit from the
installer.
Step Six: Copy all language packs, extra scenarios, etc into the temp folder you copied. Make sure everything you
copy goes into the Disk1 folder.
Step Seven: Extract the setup.inx file from the .rar file you downloaded earlier. Put it into the above mentioned
Disk1 folder, overwriting the original setup.inx file.

Step Eight: In the Disk1 folder, run setup.exe
Step Nine: Proceed with the installer as normal, as it is now patched.
It is quite a few steps, but I have found this to be the only current way to get it to work. They changed the installer config options in Installshield to not allow for command-line variables any longer on their patches. Maybe except for the /s switch for silent install, but I didn't test that one.

Bah, sorry about the above formatting issues...the commenting software here is rudimentary at best and chokes on anything not related to stupid smiley faces.
As for changing the language: Download the English Language Pack from the official website. Run the installer for it. If that fails, I believe there is a registry entry you can change to make it all in English, but I am not quite sure exactly which entry. Google is your friend.

woaaa I am totally lost I am still a noob at this. My upgrade(Enhanced Edition)doesn't work anymore. It works before but when i uninstall this game I just can't remember how did i upgrade it before

yeah it's a little of a process might not want to try it if you are not familiar with altering files like this.
but I got it to work fine on the first try.

Elo I just DL The Witcher a couple of days from now.I dl "Dopeman's version", so for all of u that dl Dopeman's The Witcher here's what u first need to do. Extract the witcher, better putting it at "C:\Program Files" . After that open the "regsetup" text document, u will see the "InstallFolder"="%d". Replace it with "InstallFolder"="C:\Program Files\The Witcher" , then click the regsetup.exe . After that just follow the above steps like the one that "infinite101" just gave, kudos bro.The thing is Dopeman's version is not an install program, it's unrar and play, so when u do the above steps, u will get "The Witcher is not Properly Installed", well i still thnx him for the game XD. So GL HF playing The Witcher EE.

FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WITH "DOPEMAN'S" VERSION WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH "localized.key doesnt match in the files setup.cab" ERROR. IT'S SIMPLE!!!! Just re download the 1.4 patch from THE OFFICIAL WITCHER SITE. Then bam, your in. I didn't even have to replace the the "1.4 Crack" with the original. It just worked like that.

are you sure this is working? when it updates it seems to skips the entire first bit of the patch it installs the bonus mission, but you cant play them anyway using the russian 1.2. So in game how do i tell the differnce if the patch has worked?
