This text centers on a study of Christian asceticism in Alexandria, Egypt during the 4th century AD. It is interesting in that it provides an insight into the emerging zealot psychology in Alexandria at this time, which led to the torching of its famous library (and its grand dame Hypatia) around 415 [and whatever remained was later torched by Amr ibn al-As around 660]
