This is MULTi3, including English, Japanese and Korean. It works on 5.00 M33-4 (don't even try to make it work in 3.52 or similar) and make sure that any plugin is disabled.

Patch has been out for a while...
If you dl this beforehand, just download the patch.
Other that that i assume this works. if it doesn't ... its because your not on custom firmware 5.00... time for an upgrade...

It works, yay. The thing is though, I can press any button and it will register for the other notes. Like, the note is to be pressed with Triangle, but I can just press any other button and it will register as that note O_O No need to use the analog stick...

i also had this problem at frist but after i change the game name into DJ Max Black Square.ISO i can see my game in the game list le ... but still cant play

Hey i finally got it to work! I've read it somewhere that there shldn't be any file that has the word ISO in the SEPLUGIN folder. (eg. iso_change.prx) Or else the BLACK SQUARE won't load. So, disabling the plugin won't help, you gotta rename the plugin file. Hoho!

I have the same problem as @10, I can play the game by just presing 2 buttons in 6 button mode. Is it the game or is it just something on my line?

1) must have CFW 5.0 0M33-4
2) all plugins are disabled
3) when you start the dj max when the PSP logo went black faster take out u memory card than faster put back in!!! .. it will start the game and you will nv get back to the XBM.. 
i had try this about 3 time and it work

ok i found this link which u need to patch urslf but u no need to remove and insert the memory card to start the game....

mmm i am sorry to say this version doesn't work, i used the previous unpatched version also from DecePSP and patched it myself and it works fine.. this game has a problem, just a heads up for all of you..

there's another method which required umd
1. go to ur recovering mode (hold r when start up)
2. advanced -> advance configuration
3. enable execute boot.bin in umd/iso
u can play the game after that with umd in it and u don't have to take out the memory stick every time

Works fine! As above, you only need to fulfill these 2 conditions if you're on 5.0 M33-5:
1) Plugins cannot have the word ISO in its name (you can still enable plugins, by the way)
2) Execute BOOT.BIN must be enabled in Recovery Menu (you don't need to have a UMD in the drive)
The recovery console can be accessed by holding R during a hard reset, by the way

Guys who still cant play it. u got to folo 39. by Syraxius and then u rename the iso name file to DJ Max Black Square.ISO. works fine for me.

@39 Syraxius, which Plugins you mean? i go into the Recovery Menu > Plugins and i dont see ISO like what you mentioned, i only see "irsautoboot.prx"

yes when u enable the boot thingy in recovery mode, it means there muz be a UMD inside.For my phat i nid a UMD but my cuz which she own a slim dun nid any UMD.Wierd but it works.

so, as "39. Syraxius" says, you can still play the game by doing one step only (it works for me like that)
You just have to excute BOOT.BIN only (without diabling the plugins or changing thier names)
To do that just follow this direct steps please:
1) Go te recovry mode by pressing "R" button while switchin the PSP On
2) Go to "Advanced ->"
3) Go to "Advanced Configuration ->"
4) Chose Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO
after enable it you can now play this great game. Hope this will help you all, and just to let you know I downloaded the game from the same link (on this page) and my PSP system software is : 5.00 M33-4.

Odly enough im guessing somethings wrong with my PSP. Im m33-4 custom firmware. My PSP has a UMD in it almost always even when I play Downloaded games. I enable boot.bin still goes back to the main menu. And yet Black square still doesnt work. Leme know if theres anything else that could be off cause this is starting to **** me off >.<

kira...why dont u try this method if all else fails..1) u patch the Djmax black square using some program which i found in the web. <toomuchfew.info/tutorials/dj-max-portable-black-square-iso-patch> or when u boot the black square ...when the psp icon goes off when u load the game. u switch ur psp to sleep mode.***n wait for 5 sec and on again.Shuld work. Try to patch frist den use my method.

So I guess the only problem is it's not patched. Im from Canada btw. So if you can give me thurough instructions on how to patch it, what folder, do I drag whole folder to ISO stuff like that so I know EXACTLY what to do. I've been trying for over a week and nothings working... im starting to think its not even worth it anymore.

kira it meant u put it the folder where the patch came. and u muz use administrator preveliges to patch it. so right click the patch and click on run as admin. Shuld do the trick...

u got to rename it to DMPBS.iso and u can leave the iso name unchange when u put it in ur psp.

@10, @25 and the others who asked. Pressing other buttons besides the one you are suppose to will register the hit, even the stick. I have the actual UMD disc so what you guys were commenting on is not because of your download. It's just the way the game is, makes it too easy.

@62 i'll try that once I get it to m33-5... Mines at m33-3 I just noticed. Although I checked none of my plugins have the word iso in folder or recovery menue so it should be okay. And i'll Execute boot.bin once I update my PSP. Thx for all the help everyone

im running on 4.01m33-2
be sure to turn of ur plugins by holding R button before you turn on your psp then change the last part of the file to .iso

got the same problem as the poster above, been looking for a solution for hours now and came up with nothing. it seems this is a pretty rare problem, tried all the solutions suggested in these comments (renaming, changing boot configs) all didn't work.
someone please tell me a solution! I really want to play this game
