for anyone out there having this problem
when i ran the game i was being asked to register my cd key
i fixed this by doing the following
delete all ra3_x.x.game files that are not the current version of the game you have installed the .game files are found in your install directories data folder ie where red alert 3 is installed
ie if you have version 1.0 and have updated to 1.3 or 1.4 or anything higher before delete the 1.3 and 1.4 .game files
do the same thing with the ra3_english_1.0.skudef files
which is found in the red alert 3 folder
so if you are running red alert 3 version 1.0 and you see
ra3_english_1.2.skudef or anything else delete them
unless you are using red alert 3 1.2
