Convert them to vob files with something like TMPGenc, or get a good quality DivX player. Mine plays all of them fine - perhaps yours has trouble with some codecs.

I have a dvd player that plays avi files. I tried playing some of these downloaded files and some work and some don't, it is so frustrating!!! I had a look at the properties of these files and they look the same so why some works and some don't?? It opens up the first say 10 seconds of film and then bombs back out to the directory 
Please help 
Download ConvertXtoDvd from this site. Convert .avi files to Dvd.

This dude isn't actually axxo. But his stuff is quality gear. I had some issue playing some avi's. it depends what they use to rip or decode the movie. i play mine in media centre or windows media player but i installed ffdshow beta. it has codec for pretty much anything.

You might try AVImux (free download) if you are having problems playing the avi file in your DVD player. It works for me.

Well i tried to burn a DVD (The Long Kiss Goodnight) that i downloaded from mininova.com and when it gets to 99% completion on windows DVD maker, it says cannot create DVD, SID on a per-user subscription doesn't exist. What do i do to make it work?
I have windows vista eternity
