You Evolutionist are funny even when you know in your heart that there is a God you cling to that nothing exploded and here we are foolishness. What's really terrible is you don't what to enter the kingdom of God yourselves so you would even try and stop those who would enter in. What a shame just cry out to the Lord Jesus Christ and believe and be baptized in his name for remission of your sins and live.
Done the studies friends, millions of years what a sad joke the God haters made. but the creators of that sad joke are dead; and the last time I checked dead is dead.

Whenever I read something like "..which is found in the pages of the Book of Genesis of the Christian Bible, as well as in certain other religious texts" it makes me chuckle, such a simple display of ignorance and prejudice.
I'm not judging the poster, it's a society thing.
Regardless of whether you believe in the flood thingy or not, don't view this as an archeological report, it's a study of what people believe. There's no need to get emotional about it.

Luke 14:25-26 (New International Version): 25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.
I have to laugh at Christians who pick and choose verses from an ancient book written thousands of years ago by bronze age tribesmen who understood less about the natural world than a 5 year old today and pretend that they're somehow some wise authority on the world.

It's really laughable that they don't acknowledge the well over 2,000,000 innocent people that God slaughters directly himself, or commands his followers to slaughter directly etc.
I'd type all things things here that God directly commands and codones, but I think I might get censored. Genocide, infanticide, misogyny, racism, slavery, bigotry... kill anyone of different beliefs, or because they're simply in your way, or because they're a different ethnicity etc.

Human sacrifice, not only acting like it's a good and noble thing that Abraham would slaughter his own boy, but that Jephthah actually did ****** and burn his daughter in sacrifice to the LORD for allowing him to win a great battle. Or how about glorifying Jesus' own ****** human sacrifice to grant pardon from a curse GOD CREATED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Absurd.
Try admitting all those parts Christians.

So if i understand you think someone that believe would OBEY GOD AND DO THAT ? >> " 2,000,000 innocent people that God slaughters directly himself, or commands his followers to slaughter directly etc."
what, so you think GOD command HITLER to burn those soul ?
Or that command soul to do Genocide, infanticide, misogyny, racism, slavery, bigotry...

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is ma****st in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools...Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator." Romans 1:18-25

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:6-9

VaRiX3D: I was quoting the bible directly you dolt.
God killed, IN THE BIBLE, well over 2,000,000 people. I'm not even referring to all the other people he afflicts with disease or kills or allows to be ****d and ******ed every day, regardless of their faith.
18.Posted by phreadom on Apr 11 2009 at 23:17
I can quote bible verses too.
Where it says God is weak against iron, where he created evil, where he lied in the Garden of Eden, where Jesus himself says that you cannot be his disciple unless you hate your family and yourself. Where the God commands that you kill people who try to convert you etc etc etc.
You're cherry picking cowards who are denying whole swaths of the bible to pick only the verses that say what you want to hear, or that back up your prejudices and keep your mind closed, like the childish cliche verse that anyone who disagrees with you is a fool, thus disallowing you from actually considering any evidence and thus just POSSIBLY curing a bit of your abject ignorance.

The censored words are R4P3D and MU|2D3R3D.
Or how about where God commanded Abraham to kill his son, and he was willing to do it. Or where Jepthah actually went through with it and offered his only daughter as a burnt sacrifice to the LORD in trade for allowing him victory in battle? Or where Elisha was teased by some kids and so called on the LORD to smite them and the LORD sent 2 she bears to kill 42 of the children?
20.Posted by phreadom on Apr 11 2009 at 23:23
Or how about where Jesus says that all men should castrate themselves? Or where he says that women should be silent, not allowed to teach, and should be subservient to their husbands, as God said specifically that Man rules over Woman? Or that the bible says that a woman is worth half a man? That cripples are not allowed in church?
Or how about the absurd claims of Creation that are flatly disproven by science? Or how about Noah's Ark? Also completely disproven by science.
You are ignorant children who know nothing of the bible you defend. You're laughable.
21.Posted by phreadom on Apr 11 2009 at 23:25
Or how about where it commands you to mu|2d3r anyone who tries to convert you? Or anyone who is a wiccan? Or anyone who is gay? Or any child who is too unruly? Or anyone who is simply living on land you want to live on? Or that it commands you to ****** every man, woman and child in a town if they are all atheists or believe in a different God than yours, and ****** even the animals, raze all the buildings to the ground and sow it with salt so that nothing will ever grow there again?

To those who have pointed out that God sanctioned and even ordered ******, slavery, sacrifice, capital punishment etc...you are right. God did do all of those things. However, you cannot criticise Christians of only picking out the parts of the Bible that suit their purposes when you have done exactly the same thing. It is an undeniable fact that God ordered his people to kill or enslave entire nations, and set the death penalty for a variety of crimes, but that's not the end of the story.
As a Christian I have always found the endless wars and plagues of the Old Testament difficult to stomach, and I have often questioned how the God I believe to be so loving could behave like that, but I have never attempted to deny that such atrocities exist in the Bible. After spending a lot of time in thought and prayer with regards to this issue, these are my conclusions.

During Old Testament times, the Jews were God's chosen people, set apart by Him. They atoned for their sins while other nations did not; and they worshipped Him while other nations did not. For these reasons, God acted for their protection and elevation, and that meant the destruction and degradation of the other nations. It is a hard truth to swallow, but one that, as several of you have quite rightly said, Christians must accept. HOWEVER, this was in the Old Testament under the old covenant. Through Jesus, God founded a new covenant, in which his love and protection were extended to every nation, every race, every person on earth. It is right to point out the atrocities of the Old Testament, but unfair to do so without mentioning the fact that God would no longer do such things, because we are all now His chosen ones.

As far as I am aware, there are only three references to human sacrifice in the Bible –
Abraham and Isaac: It is important to remember that God never intended for Abraham to really kill His son. He asked it of Him because it was the ultimate test of Abraham's faith, but the sacrifice was never going to happen.
Jephat and his daughter: Jephat offered the sacrifice if he was granted victory, but there is nothing to say that God granted him victory because he wanted the sacrifice. It is quite possible that God had planned to grant Jephat victory anyway, but once Jephat had made his promise, he had to keep it.
Jesus: the ultimate sacrifice to atone for our sins. However, it was a sacrifice that Jesus made willingly.
In conclusion, human sacrifice was not an official practice, and consummation of the act was never demanded by God.

With regards to God demanding the death penalty for *******uality etc, or punishing people with plagues and so on - again, those demands only existed during the Old Testament times under the old covenant; and again, they do not apply under the new covenant. When Jesus died, he took the punishment for every sin mankind has committed or will commit, and so God no longer punishes people for sin and the punishments decreed by Him in the Old Testament no longer apply.

Also, phreadom claimed that Jesus said women should be silent, are inferior to men etc. That is, quite simply, untrue. Jewish teachers taught those things, and Paul repeated them, but they contradict everything that Jesus taught, and as such I believe them to be false and not of God (I'm not trying to say that Paul was deliberately going against God, I just think that he failed to entirely throw off Jewish teaching, and continued to teach as God-given doctrine that which was only human tradition). Jesus himself never said those things. He treated women as equals, elevating them high above the position awarded them by society. It is true that Jesus did not have female disciples, but at the time women were not taught Scripture (not because God declared it should be so, but because man did) so it would have been foolish to expect them to teach it.
28.Posted by aethelfled on Apr 27 2009 at 01:13
However, Jesus taught women just as he taught men, and so it can be seen that he was preparing them to be able to teach others. And God never ever said that women were inferior or that they should submit to their husbands - only men have said that. (God did say to Eve in Genesis 3 that Adam would rule over her, but "will rule" as apposed to "shall rule" shows that was a prohecy rather than a command. And as a matter of fact there are several Biblical examples of women instructing their husbands - most notably Abraham's wife, Sarah). God created women as well as men in His image, and that means that He created us to be equal.

Instead of reading religious mythology, consider this:
1. Early civilizations arose along rivers, which provided drinking water, fish for food, water for crops, and transportation.
2. Rivers periodically flood.
3. Early civilizations lacked satellite imagery and remote webcams; they couldn't tell how far massive floods really extended.
4. Therefore, all early civilizations have a flood mythology.
There. You saved yourself a worthless download.
