Yes but if you rob a bank, and a month later start a flower company you will still goto jail.

All this does is make people switch to torrents.to torrentz.com isohunt or possibly btjunkie. Millions of choices out there... Goodbye mininova :+

4.Posted by Arcticpheonix on May 07 2009 at 21:43

I believe the term for what mininova is doing is "Heil". I nkew it was only a matter of time before they gave in, but it still ****s. See ya later mininova, you were good while you lasted. A big thanks to the uploader though. With this mininova just might make a comeback.

5.Posted by andysterdam on May 07 2009 at 21:44

The end of mininova as we know it. It was good while it lasted, but now mininova has caved in to corporate interests.

Oh well, hasta la vista! :r

6.Posted by sebass0123 on May 07 2009 at 21:56

Just Rehost Under A New Domain lol :)

14.Posted by vibe666 on May 08 2009 at 00:44

google is by far the biggest torrent indexer of them all, why not just use that instead?

even 'the industry' won't be able to shut down google.

look for whatever you want by typing it's name into google and then add "filetype:torrent" at the end of your search (without the quotes) and you'll get the results of every torrent file listed with that (or similar) name from every website that google indexes.

there's even a couple of websites like googletorrent and thepirategoogle doing it themselves already, but google keeps blocking them.

i can't see google blocking itself though. :)

23.Posted by StewBalls on May 08 2009 at 05:05

Thanks n3wt, interesting read! ;)

This could all end up being a storm in a teacup IMHO, depending on the outcome of TPB's appeal, Mininova could just ride it out completely, well here's hoping anyway! :)

Although, worst case scenario, as others have said, whilst it would be sad to lose the excellent Mininova (the concept of which exceeds mere p2p IMHO); there's plenty of other domains & protocols out there yet, from an egocentric perspective, I may be disappointed, but I'm not too worried! ;)

24.Posted by ArmageddonAngel on May 08 2009 at 05:06

you people are all fussing over nothing. Mininova wont die and even if it does someone i'm sure will pick it up again and re-host. so quit *****in that it's leaving. It's more than likely just a bunch of hoopla.

31.Posted by n3wt on May 08 2009 at 09:43

^^^ What these people dont know , its only for Content distribution (featured) torrents, because those files are hosted at mininova servers , thus the liability, CALM down guys mininova isnt going ANYWHERE..its a safe nite for the pirate

32.Posted by n3wt on May 08 2009 at 09:44

Did anyone read the General Info Page of This torrent :) :)

33.Posted by The_Queef on May 08 2009 at 10:29

For all the people out there thinking that mininova is all about freedom think about this for a momment; Mininova is filtering for years now !!

THERE'S NO PO-R-N ON MININOVA!!!! Anything like that is removed in seconds.

Freedom of speech?? Not on this site, the list of "bad" words is endless and growing by the day.

And now there's this thing, not sure what to make of it, since most of the good stuff isn't tracked/hosted on mininova. It seems to me that this is a first step into self-destruction or just a smoke screen, only time wil tell.

For now everyting is running as it should and we can only hope it will remain that way.

Cheers,

-the Queef-

34.Posted by my_tivo_broke on May 08 2009 at 10:36

Read the General Information page. This contains the exact text in the .txt file contained in the download :)

35.Posted by StewBalls on May 08 2009 at 10:52

You guys should come to Australia, we're on the verge of having nationwide internet service provision content filtered!!! Net-Nanny for ALL!!! WOOHooeerrrrrr, doh! :r

My ISP just trialled their implementation last week! :(

36.Posted by StewBalls on May 08 2009 at 11:00

On the other hand, if someone could filter out that "Babylon Pro" garbage that keeps sneaking into the CD section I might just change my tune! :P

37.Posted by miknos on May 08 2009 at 11:08

rar-passworded files? WTH?

Mininova is nice but I prefer to use thepiratebay.

38.Posted by abocadolixo on May 08 2009 at 11:46

And let's go back to emule again!!!
Very sad. :'( :'( :r :r

39.Posted by abocadolixo on May 08 2009 at 11:51

I need to say to copyright owners: this is very unfair. If you make better and cheaper products we would't have to download it. This is artificial, is against natural laws.
But internet is like a living being... it aways find a way to get rid of the diseases!

40.Posted by Radiokies on May 08 2009 at 12:28

i always forward people to the piratebay and use mininova for myself or give a torrent direct via filetransfer.
i don't hope mininova goes to ghosttown like suprnova and a lot of people are saying herebove.

41.Posted by coolcris102 on May 08 2009 at 13:06

Here's the Article: Read it and weep!

http://www.techspot.com/news/34616-mininova-begins-filtering-out-copyrighted-material.html

Anybody know any other good torrent sites that won't go down? Please post names. Thanks...

42.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 13:40

You guys shouldn't spit on Mininova.

All this mess is because of corporate pressures.
But aren't they legitimate ?
I mean, you're putting Billions of Dollards in a project with an idea,
and some of us geeks just simply seed a movie to tens of thousands, and potentially millions of people.
What disturbs them is that there are/were a lot of people working for a project, and they're not making as much ***** as they could because we **** it up.

43.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 13:40

For mininova it's the same ****. You can't go on "omg omg people are gonna kill our freedom omg omg omg !"
And then say "what the hell, I don't give a ****, there's a lot of other torrent search sites" or " mininova has been filtering since the beginning!".

Mininova mediators actually work for this website, for US ! They provide us with a service. People posting illegal material on mininova ? Hell, no one complains ? Let's just let it go.
Secondly, there's no way you can complain about mininova's filtering. It's 100% legitimate. It's called education. You chose the image you give, and when you choose that people are not to post **** on mininova or use bad words, you guaranty that kids can hang-out on mininova freely.

Anyway, hope mininova will sustain. Keep it up guys. Like the fact you're not just anarchist pirates on a leach.

One Love. <3

BoOgers. :)

44.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 13:42

@ dreadnort, the films are not necessarily hosted on mininova.

If they are, it's simply the registry entry for search that is deleted, they probably don't delete the files YET.

45.Posted by dreadnort on May 08 2009 at 13:50

yougzzz
thanks mate ,i thought i was going mad.

46.Posted by Help_the_poor on May 08 2009 at 14:01

Yougzzz you are right.I guess mininova is the only torrent site where children can visit freely. But there are so many people out there which are spoiling the image of mininova.
Good to find good guys like you.Hope we meet again.Take care

47.Posted by nitmeare on May 08 2009 at 14:17

i am only using mininova for pirated high quality tv shows and movies...

thanks mininova. it was good while it lasted.

do you know any torrent sites that doesn't have **** ads?

50.Posted by rednet2 on May 08 2009 at 14:43

What's the big deal? There's a great deal of difference between what someone says they are doing and what they are actually doing. I intend to keep using Mininova until the torrents I want get blocked. Besides, its only a 12 week *trial* - they haven't said anything about whether it will be permanent or not. Chances are its just posturing so that they look good in court.

51.Posted by n3wt on May 08 2009 at 15:27

1) Normal Torrents will not be targeted
2) pirate bay customer service doesnt exist
3) mininova has tight knit community
4) be happy u dont live in australia
5) listen to new eminem album

:D :D :D

52.Posted by boaby_phet on May 08 2009 at 15:40

have i missed something?? where except for the details in this torrent does it state the information the user posted in his description.?

is he an admin ? (i doubt it)

seriously, dont be so gullable people ... the internets not going to stop..

anyone remember suprnova, org? the predecessor to mininova.org? ... trust me, in mininova stops hosting stuff guarenteed someone else will (ultranova.org ? lol ) you get the point.

everything comes to an end, but theirs always the next level.

53.Posted by coolcris102 on May 08 2009 at 15:45

@57
I agree brother! Where there is a will there is a way! The Law of Supply and Demand! If the gov't can't have there hand in it, then they have to do away with it. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out. Stay tuned - same bat time, same bat channel!!!! >-)

55.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 16:44

This torrent is an indication for torrent posters on a "how to go around the filter". That's all. :)

56.Posted by G3ckO on May 08 2009 at 16:53

wow you guys are dumb

57.Posted by LuffyMD on May 08 2009 at 17:26

Sorry folks. This is another step to the end of internet freedom. For those who don't think so, how many free DVD rippers can you find now? None, except for AnyDVD which is not free. There is nowhere in the world where you will find those old free DVD rippers we used to use.

58.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 17:49

Something's wrong here.

You can't say "it's the end of FREEDOM", there's no such thing !

You are never free to do anything, there are restricted supply and demands (for this miscalled FREEDOM).

You're complaining about DVD rippers not being freewares anymore ?

Man, if there's one thing you should know : Governments / Associations / Lawsuits who want the torrent community to be destroy are far ( so far ) from being able to keep hard-core coders from building up new freewares and spreading them all around the world.

59.Posted by Yougzzz on May 08 2009 at 17:50

This "freedom" is just the ability to share. This "freedom" is called the INTERNET, or the P2P ( just call it what you want ).

'This is another step to the end of INTERNET freedom' ? What the hell, it's just another barrier in the way of us geeks.

The only real solution they have so far, is shutting down the INTERNET access of everybody, since the people they hire are so helplessly incompetent... (and since downloading rules are different in every country.)

Anyway. There is no way you can have a one-sided view on what's happening right now. If you're complaining, do something about it, otherwise... Just stay put, wait and see.

:)

60.Posted by carlz69 on May 08 2009 at 18:27

61.Posted by madhatburner on May 08 2009 at 18:55

Yeah, it's all been said. If there is so much being made of Mini, then when are they going to go after Google :? It's not that different from Mini. At least on Mini you can't get links for p0r.n or hate sites. Just remember what is freedom and that some times freedom ain't free. People need to get involved, it's your rights being taken away :X

62.Posted by arrudalu on May 08 2009 at 19:24

71.Posted by lobo5 on May 09 2009 at 06:17

@arrudalu: Yes I have seen torrents get filtered. I checked out EZTV's user page for the latest episode of Desperate Hos and Grey's, and not only is the last episode gone from the user's torrent list for both shows, ALL of the episodes are now gone from EZTV for those 2 shows. There's probably a lot more that have been filtered, but those are the 2 that I have personally seen erased (or I should say "filtered";) from EZTV. Also checked out another favorite uploader that did the whole Star Wars Clone Wars series, and ALL of those episodes are now gone as well. Checked out the user pages for EZTV and the other uploader on TPB, and all is normal, all episodes of Grey's and Desperate are there, as well as the Clone Wars series. These are trusted (and very popular) users, that have accounts on both MN and TPB. Guess I just go over to TPB now for my shows. Too bad.

72.Posted by lobo5 on May 09 2009 at 06:17

@ppl saying MN is not gonna close:

It might not close, but if this content recognition sticks, all the juicy stuff we all love to download is not gonna be @ MN anymore, thus they will lose many visitors, thus they will lose ad revenue :(

73.Posted by lobo5 on May 09 2009 at 06:17

For this "bypass" to work, the uploader has to rar and password the torrent... how many trustworthy reputable uploaders will do that? Isn't a rar'd + psswrd torrent a huge red flag for a possible virus? Don't we all instinctively stay away from psswrded rars? I guess we take our chances now, but I would rather just go to TPB and get the avi straight up instead of dealing with the rar. Thank you Mininova for giving us access to countless hours of entertainment. Hope the trial is just that, a trial. There truly is no difference from torrent-specific search engines (MN, TPB, isohunt, etc.) linking to a torrent vs Google linking to a torrent. If these are found guilty, how can Google not be as well? I'm rooting for the survival of torrents.

Viva la Revolucion! A la mierda con "the MAN"!

74.Posted by lobo5 on May 09 2009 at 06:23

Last thought: Mad props to TPB... those homeboys got some fawkn BALLS. Keep it up.

77.Posted by mulberryinfinity on May 12 2009 at 00:35

hey, btw if mininove (I'll generally be surpised if that doesn't come up ******** by now, btw) blocks something you upload, all you have to do most of the timeif slightly change the spelling before you upload it. even moreover, you can even then edit the linkpage to change the nameback to what its supposed to be called. Pretty easy. There's always a F u c kk i n _ g work around no matter how little m _ 0n _ ey you f u __c k __n g have

Way I see things is like this....if man invented, built or had anything at all to do with whatever it may be..rest assured that one day things will breakdown..(filtering, RIAA, lawsuits..etc..etc) but things will once again start working as soon as man figures out a way to break what was used to break what worked flawlessly to begin with..

I know I'll get flak for this if anyone's still reading these comments- I have uploaded stuff (1 thing deleted by mini so far) and downloaded plenty of stuff.

One thing that concerns me is how much you're all whinging about the government cracking down on 'crime'(!). If you can get away with not forking out hundreds (maybe thousands) of pounds on films/music which is 90% **** anyway, then great- thank you to mini and all alike BUT- it IS illegal. So if the government wants to stop it we can't really complain. If a mugger (yes I have been mugged before) grabbed a DVD out of your hands you'd be running to the police so...instead of complaining and trying to justify theft by saying 'they're charging too much'; GET A ****** HOBBY!!!

88.Posted by 35317 on Jul 03 2009 at 22:32

Join a club where you share dvds with friends so it's cheaper etc and just be grateful for the free things you managed to get along the way. Oh and to the spies and copyright owners- in reality you have never lost ***** from me because I never would have bought your films or music (due to having zero pennies) so in fact you gained a bit of free advertising- if I liked your film/album and I gain some ***** in future I WILL buy your things- also, it's NOT the same as stealing from a shop because you don't have the cost of replacing the item (shipping costs/actual cd costs/not being able to sell that disc etc) so pipe down.

...both sides are right and wrong...

89.Posted by 35317 on Jul 03 2009 at 22:35

er, why did mini star out the word '*********'??!! and 'b.l.o.o.d.y' is hardly swearing really is it??!!! for crying out loud....

90.Posted by 35317 on Jul 03 2009 at 22:37
