Just wondering, (THIS THING WORKS BTW)... does the fix have any effect on ESET's ability to detect/clean viruses, malware, spyware, etc??

I choose ESET because IMHO I think it is best, but if the fix does have an effect on its function I think I might get keys instead. What do you think shought?

heya, i might be the only one with a problem [sorry for ruining the stats ] but hopefully won't stay like this much. Anyway,the thing is that NOD automatically deletes the fix after extracting it and it keeps on doing so even if i disabled the "on the clock" protection [a.k.a system tray icon is red] but i haven't found a close or exit button LOL
running a Vista/32

It works, but the updating doesn't want to work (keeps failing after 1 or 2 files).

Also its not a great anti-virus anyway (doesn't pick up the virus I KNOW I have, which I can see in my processes).


On a side note, anyone know where I can get a serial/key for prevx 3.0 (this prog does pick up the virus(s) but needs registration for removal).

When I go to it, it is saying that "Virus signature database could not be updated" I think this means I cannot get any update, can I? What shall I do? I am an amature in computers. But i think it"s working, though! First, i install the eset nod32 antivirus 4 that is included in your torrent, then i disable self defense, reboot my pc, after that, i now install the mara fix, and lastly, i manually update the virus signature to the latest version. hi shought! thanks for the reply, but as you said in the previous replies, you dont have to put any username and password in the installation process, and in applying the fix, right! Then how is the trial period of 30 days will start when you dont put any username and password? When i install the installer included in your torrent, it doesn't show any trial period in the protection status, even after i install the eset fix and rebooted my pc. But when i try to unfix now the eset, the 31 day remaining trial period starts to show in the protection status, what does it mean? hey, hate to be a pain as it seems its just me having this problem but it seems to have gotten worse after deleting the 'em0x_32.dat' files. Under Protection Status, it now says "Maximum protection is not ensured; Antivirus protection is disabled; Virus scanner initialization failed. Most of the ESET NOD32 Antivirus modules will not function properly." Still having the same updating problem. Can't clear the update cache as since I cleared it a day or two ago theres been nothing to clear. I messed around with the Windows firewall thing turning it on and off, adding Nod32 as an exception etc. Theres obviously something weird going on on my end but can't think of what it could be >< thanks for the help!

I think I had the same problem as sameer_z, now I could not remove/repair/reinstall NOD32, because it just gave me the same "could open key error" whatever I did.

Here are what I did when installing:
1. There was 3.0.672.0 version in my system, and I "fixed" it using the similar crack software as the "ESET fix.exe" in your package. It was reporting 31 days left for trial after the fix, and could update the virus database. But since last month, it failed to update the virus database although it still shown "31 days left for trial". Don't know why.
2. I then downloaded you package, and fist I installed the new version by overwriting the previous one (I now realize that I should have unfix the previous fix first, but at that time, I could not find the previous package and I also did not know there was a unfix software specifically for the old version).

5. I tried to reinstall the 4.0.437, but I found that it actually had not been removed from the system, it just gave me two options when double clicked installation software : "Repair" and "Remove", and whatever I chose, I just give me the error "could not open key" and then exit.
6. I finally found the previous unfix, but it gave the same "could not open key" error when execute.
7. I tried to execute "ESET fix.exe", but it indicated "Self-defense active", no way to change the setting because the NOD32 just disappeared when I clicked any button (it could still be launched).
8. I tried nod32 removal tool, but not help although it indicate the NOD32 had been removed from the system.

So frustrated, will appreciate any comments and help.

but there is no such value "Deny-..." you mentioned, and actually there was no value under "Advanced-Permissions". I had tried to tick the option "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" under "Advanced-Owner", it is said I can have full control by doing this, but I got "Access is denied".

I think one key point is how I can regain the full control to that key in registry, looks like that key was "protected" by fix software, but I actually did unfix once for the new version, and the unfix from the old version now is not able to access that key.

I have installed the Antivirus. But could not install the other stuff through the links. When i try to download the smart security through the links in the webpage, it is asking for User id and Password. I tried giving 'eset' in both the fields but the authentication failed. Sorry @shought Fix file was totally a worm/trojan! It's corrupted registry file and disabled show/hidden part of "Folder Options".

Try to make hidden or visible system files. You can't! Because of this malware FIX file, i've lost 2 days!!

Solution was Combofix.exe... You could download it from http://*******.com/2yct9u

Maybe you have that problem too but you don't knew it.

The file which "fixed" the trial period of ESET was infected and it's true. If you run it, it had damaged your registry file. You are not able to change anymore "hidden system files" status. Go to "Folder Options" than "View" and than try to select "show hidden files and folders". Than press ok and close the window. And open again the same window, your choice was back to "do not show hidden files and folders". That was a Worm/Trojan trick for virus programs, which blocked access to infected files and folders.

And of course be careful your talk to me! Don't miss respect. Trust my words...

try these steps

1. uninstall eset and see if problem persists
2. use system restore
3. may be a virus is in your computer. Scan with a good anti-virus and a anti-spyware like MALWAREBYTES/SUPER-ANTISPYWARE
4. goto safe mode by pressing f8 during startup and see if problem persists
5. goto start->run->sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc & /). Insert xp cd when asked.

i suggest you to download MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE and SUPER-ANTISPYWARE and scan with the same. Both are free programs. It detects malwares that internet securities often misses. Also keep these in your computer with other anti-virus.

and i read that i should unfix it before i do 'upgrade to full version'..i followed that and upgraded finally, then i fixed it again..after rebooting, the 'upgrade to full version' is still there..

I'm running windows 7 x64, and i tried clicking the link. When i try to login, it doesnt work and the login form just appears again. after about 3-4 tries, it goes to a page that says the following:
Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Yes I did reboot after unchecking self-defence. I am using Vista. When I right click all I see is: open, extract, share, send to, copy, cut, rename etc etc ..

Eset's telling me I only have 11 days left in my trial

it didn't work..***otkitrevealer couldn't detect the threats "Operating memory - Win32/Rootkit.Agent.ODG trojan - unable to clean" which the NOD32 detected. and threat still persist..help me if u can...

about the trial.. i haven't checked yet "remove trial watermarks"..where is it anyway..i have checked everywhere in NOD32, i don't see the "Remove trial watermarks"...but there is option saying "upgrade to full version..".... do u think I am using the full version???...

so i unfixed it then reinstall ESS then fixed ESSET fix
then i updated it manually and now its working 100% and i can see the 31 days remaining though.. hehe

i've followed everything and working perfectly. i have done my first update manually but after that, my ESET won't update automatically.

I've tried doing unfix, use the username/password from nod website, update, delete the username/password and fix. So everytime new updates are available, I have to do it manually and do the steps as I've mentioned.

Is this the case?

Ok, so it's not a virus. It's "only" a trojan (PSWTool.Win32.NetPass) that steals your passwords (you can also google it). When I'd start installing it and the NOD alarm window pops up, it shows that the fix file tries to access my email gadget, where I of course store their passwords. So I actually removed the gadget, then the fix tried to access Firefox, where I also keep quite a few passwords to email and different web accounts. You said that the mechanism of the fix is that it blocks NOD from accessing the registry so it won't start counting the days. But then, why should it have a hot date with Firefox or an email client, where (strangely enough) passwords are stored? Any idea on that? *cough*

There is no automatic update happening for the virus signature...i have to manually do it...Had applied your fix...tried like unfix, restart and then fix...but still no help...when ever i log in my pc and check the update it says update failed, then i have to do the update manually and it works

I read practically every comment on this page, I have installed ESET fine and applied the patch with self defense shut off.
My current status is:

Virus Signature Database: 4075 (20090514)

I am unable to update.
www.eset.com seems to be down, and any links i click that lead to that website are also connection failed. Is it me, or can ESET not update because the site is infact down?

I was able to add eset.com to the HOSTS, and now am able to view eset.com.
Although I'm still unable to update (same error), I was able to install an offline patch which has me at 4133 now.

Sorry for posting another problem.
Initially after installing the fix and booting, all was well (except the update thing ) and it did not mention any date of expiry. But when i restarted mah comp for the second time ,eset is saying that your license is valid till 1st oct 09.

Ok i tried that to disable only self defence restarted my pc but the fix still said self defence is active so i checked in set up and it was disabled(unchecked)

Probably the problem is either that my antivirus updated itself with latest definitions or my windows 7(64 bit)

Can anyone confirm that he was able to upgrade from antivirus to internet security successfully on windows 7?

i never used any crack, just download any non pre-cracked full version of whatever you want ess, essbe, eavbe, eav and just go to http://nod321.com and use those username and passwords

make sure your update server in the advance setup is set to automatic.

Just go to setup (F5), and under Tools are System updates...just set it to no updates, windows are already enough obnoxious with them as it is...

Now, I still have this "General compiler error" thing. No matter how many username/password combos I try, it won`t go away...

I have windows XP 32 bit(not a genuine copy). I installed this AV than i disabled self defense and did "fix it". the icon in tray turned red. than i tried updating and it said "an error occurred while downloading update files" the tray icon is now in orange.

now the protection status is "maximum protection may not be insured"
the latest version of windows update is not installed. to update the Operating System click here.

Oh, relax people, the program automatically updates sooner or later all by itself... the trick is that you should be connected to the net all the time. Now, my desktop is connected ALL the time, and it updates nicely (4243 now); as for the laptop, with its wireless uplink and whimsical wireless network signals, I have to do it manually. I remember though that the AVG Free had this option of downloading updates from the site, in the separate folder, and then installing them on another computer via usb (or something similar); I don`t suppose ESET uses the same practice, seeing as how NOD 32 is not a free program?

I'm getting "the general compiler error" since july, 9.
I did unfix, uninstall, installed and fixed again and after getting few updates the problem back.
It did stop in 4229.
I'm using this version and the fix since begin and only now I'm having this problem.

1-installed eset antivirus
2-disabled self-defence (unticked the box)
3-run the fix only checked self-defence
4- i clicked update for 10-12124 times but no auto update
5-what am i missing ?

well, I`m kinda ignoring the "general compiler error", because I`dont use laptop much for the net... It`s all well and good if NOD runs smoothly on my desktop. So is there any other way to fix that error or circumvent it that does not include the unfix, reinstall `n fix tedium? I can wait, but no one likes hanging on 4219.

i went through the comments and your suggestions and didnt find the solution to my problem. it says on the nod32 window "maximum protection is not ensured. analysis of application protocols will not function. an error occured while starting services. analysis of application protocols (POP3, HTTP will not function)....................... i don't know what to do with this. i search for answers but in to no avail. i hope you can help me with this. my icon also is red whenver this thing happens.
the previous days that this happened i just updated it and it went away but, and i thought it was the rule but then it doesnt work that way anymore. help me out

Hi, I seem to be having a bit of a problem downloading the x64 version of Smart Security 4. I have followed the links in the HTML file you included, but following them (and accepting Firefox' dialog box asking for confirmation that you want to log in using that info) gets followed by a new login box instantly, which leads me to believe the account has been banned. I have tried other login info found in this thread, and have tried manually logging in through the empty login box, but none of it seems to help.

If you could please help me out with this, I'd be very happy. Thanks in advance! And also a lot of thanks for staying active and sorting out issues in this thread .

I didn´t saw that using a username/password would screw the fix.. But whatever! I´ve been using the same key for almost 2/3 weeks and no problem yet.. As soons as it gets black listed i just update it to another one. Otherwise it will last until october ! And i´m getting all updates.

Ohkay, so, I have a problem.

I've looked through most of the comments and can't seem to find a solution, and I know, shought, you've been busy answering a lot of questions, so thanks in advance for the help.

I'm running XP and my account is an administrator I've done everything up to the point of the fix, and I have disabled the real-time protection and stopped it even, from starting back up after a restart, yet each time I try to use the fix it says that self-defense is still active.

Any suggestions would be nice =]

hi shought, i just want to thank you for the great upload, the fix is working fine until now with no problem, really nice. If you don't mind, i just want to ask a question not regarding on this thread, because i know you're a techie, and i just want to know the answer coming from experts like you, and for additional information that you can share. Why is it we can't install 2 antivirus at the same time, but we can install 2 or more antimalware/antispyware programs running at the same time? whats the difference between antivirus and antimalware programs? If a malware means malicious software(virus, trojan, worms, spyware, etc), can an antimalware detect and remove viruses as accurate as an antivirus program did, so it can serve a general purpose? Just for additonal info, thanks!

On windows 7 - Installed as per instructions without a user/password. But, it still won't update. Tried eset/eset which didn't work. Windows firewall is disabled.

I downloaded this awhile back and it has worked GREAT for me!!! But I think I might have downloaded something that got through and screwed everything up because I keep getting an error message that says "error communicating with kernal" and my Windows Defender won't even start up. Do you think you could help me figure it out? I am at a loss. I have uninstalled Nod and now it won't let me reinstall it because it says that I don't have the proper access. I am running Windows XP

Same Problem as "unhallowed85"

- after installing fix and Eset, not only can i not update, nor can i access any sites. Connection Ping, all good, network keeps timing out in IE.

- uninstalled fix and Eset, problem remains. modem sharing plenty of love with IP, but IE and Moz are proving useless. Please help as i now have no access to net and needed to come to an iCafe to seek ur help.

hey I got a stumper for ya. I am the one that was having the error message "error communicating with kernal" well I ended up downloading the trail from the ESET website. Well that was after I completely reformated my hard-drive and everything. It was working GREAT!! Until I downloaded and installed the BITTORRENT program. I started to get the SAME error code. So I uninstalled BITTORRENT and restarted my computer. Everything worked again!! So I have now downloaded and installed MicroTorrent (utorrent) and everything STILL WORKS! I have just installed the fix and it is still working!

So for all you that are having the "error communicating with kernal" message, check your torrent download program!

Sorry this is so long! Shought thank you for the great work!!

Okay so I followed all the steps, turned of self def. then restarted, applied the fix everything worked, restarted, turned self defence back on, restarted again, it's said virus something wasn't on so i updated, and it works!

But you're fix said, if I update I need to remove the fix, but i didn't remove it, and it updated fine, how can i check how much time i have on eset

I am sorry but the read me file is not helping alot. Ive instal the program, ran an update and then used the fix.exe. I was able to fix it, but the program keep asking for an update. Its also saying <upgrade to full version> isnt this the full version?

IF YOU ARE GETTING THIS ERROR:

"Could not write value AppDataDir to key \Software\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Info. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel"

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

Start>Run>regedit
Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Expand Software
Right Click ESET>Delete
Start>All Programs>ESET>ESET NOD32 Antivirus>Uninstall
Next>Repair>Repair

It should install correctly with no errors.
