I've the same experience as Arienne as I also cannot open the file.
VLC Player reports that it is unable to open the file

Update to last comment - the file opens in Windows Media player so it may just be a VLC player problem

Further to the above comments:
After moving the avi file to a new directory it played fine in VLC player .

Video and audio quality is good and so is the film

It works with Media Player Classic. The quality is good and the above subtitles match.

Works fine by using comment 5 ie move to new folder, open by VLC "open file" and then click on options of subtitle then click or the .srt file for subs, offcourse you have to download it from opensubtitles,enjoy absolutely gr8 movie
