A hilarious insight into the world of piracy. Pretty much everything is outdated but it's still intresting. The way the presenter called the release groups "hackers" made me laugh.
Thanks uploader!

Man oh man, ya gotta get this one... This is the best media propaganda film I've ever seen. This makes Hitlers propaganda machine look like girl scouts selling cookies. Quality is good, clarity is good, sound is great.

HAHAHA! this is a must watch for anybody who knows the real deal.
Its very much propaganda because it contains misinformation both on purpose and on accident and it doesn't even graze the other end of the deal such as the unspoken secret that since music downloading has taken off the RIAA has seen that there hasnt been a drop in cd sales, infact its been noted that people are getting into more and more forms of music through piracy and therefore are more into it in general - so they go to concerts or buy t-shirts etc.. etc...
everybody i know that bought tons of media before piracy (was so easy), still spends a massive chunk of their pay check on it all today.

You would think that Hollywood would learn. When VHS came out in the 80's, They said it would ruin them because no one would go to the theatre anymore. They said something similar when dvd made it big. IF it's true that 50% of movie revenue comes from dvd sales than they should see they were wrong then. IF 50 percent of revenue comes from dvd sales, and they claim this would ruin them, this is poor management. Movie were profitable before we were able to see movies at home. Movies became more profitable after we were able to see them at home. I'll bet that in a few years, they'll be crying over some newer technology. Merchandising opertunities, advetising, product placement. The movie made a profit before it was made. I'm a small time producer. The more people who see my work. the better. I don't care if the payed for it or not.

Both sides are skewed. You (the piracy consumer) and them (the multi-media establishment)
The fact is that they are obliged to protect the interests of themselves and others in the industry and there are times when things they fought against were justified, but the fact is that you couldn't have known that things would turn out so well for the industry after these past years of Napster, P2P, etc.
You would have took part in Piracy even if the Corporations could have proven legitimate losses. The fact that it surprisingly turned out relatively opposite was a combination of people being aware of the pitfalls and taking measures to (grudgingly) go along with the inevitable, e.g. TV/Movie Studio website downloads, merging into online content/marketing, both free and reduced priced. And realizing that the propaganda you talk about played a large part in creating their law-abiding customer base who otherwise wouldn't know a sanctioned download from MiniNova.
