All right after 3 days of leeching finally I put my

things. It is not in italian it is multi language

The thing is if you are running this game on an ATI Radeon card you definetly must download the patch from the link above. I am not quite sure but I think MGS2 should work fine with an Geforce card accelerator if not try also to instal the ATI patch it really helped me a lot
Also think abou it this is a game high system rquirements so dont expect anything if you are running this game under a machine of 1 GHz and wiithout an graphic accelerator e.g like Nvidea Geforce 128 MB or higher.

hmmm I think your graphic card might be to slow. I tried to play the game on a ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB ( worked great with the ATI patch ) and on a NVidea 5200 128 MB worked also just fine. So the thing is you should try to play this game minimum on a 64 MB graphic card or higher.

thanks AlucarD86, that's the same thing that me and a friend were thinking. a little reassurance is what i needed and your one of very few who's actually responded, appreciate it! but i tried it without the patch and messed around with the graphics (you know, like dick around with the quality and all that stuff) and obviously blank with every possibility. i did the same with the patch and got the same results. you think taking my pc to the woods and beating it with a base ball bat would fix my problem?

ehm well of course you can instal the 3,5 GB Version of metal gear but remember you should keep the iso mounted with deamon tolls because if you are going to instal the 3,5 GB Version the setup wont instal all the movies to your hardisc but hey who the hell is interested in the movies on your harddisc anyway ?? just remember we are talking about an iso image here so it is on your hardisc anyway. The difference is quite simple the 3,5 GB version was ment to load the videos for metal gear from the DVDrom the 7 GB version just packs everything to your hardisc

okay so i had the "insert cd" problem and i tried to use the patch but when i try to patch it, it says that "msg2.exe" is the wrong filesize. Anyone know why this is or where i can get the right filesize?

i solve the problem, at the config window (the one that appears just when you click on the msg icon) go to option\drawning, there you have to select custom and put rendering size, shadow deatil and rendering clearness all the way to the right and model quality all the way to the left, then go to option\effect select level and turn it low, that works on my case, hope it works in yours. ENJOY

If u wanna use this with Daemon Tools, try SD4Hide. Just Google for it....
I havent tried this game but SD4hide works with damn near every other PC game I have.
U mount the iso first
Click Hide on SD4hide
Then click game icon or whatever u do to start playing game
when finished playing, click Restore on SD4Hide

I really dont get you guys :S I swear to god I finished this game halv a year ago and it was this copy of the game. First of all please before posting some questions just make damn sure you are at least trying to run this game on a fast machine eg. AMD XP/Pentium 4 with 1,5 Ghz minimum, 256 DDRam minimum, fast and stable GFX Accelerator eg. Nvidea Geforce 5500 FX 128 MB or higher. That should do the work I promise. Please also note that this Game has some glitches but you can fix them with the above patches in no time and for people who dont know what a .iso or an .nxg gezzz just buy that god damn game its easy to get on Ebay 
. And really I was able to finish that game and it works 100% fine so just try it out 4 Urselves

I am not sure ximdatfreshkidx, I hooked up my PS3 controller and it is recognized by windows. I guess we will have to find out once we d/l this game. Also I hope this works for vista :\

This game works 100% perfectly with any PS3 or XBox gamepad if you can stick it via USB. I personally played this game on my PS2 Gamepad with some PS2 to USB Convertor and it works flawlessly even the rumble feature was implented. Actually I "STRONGLY" recomend playing this game on the PC with some USB Gamepad which is equal to the Playstation 1/2/3 Gamepad because MGS2 was originally released for the PS2 back than and all of the controlls implented in this PC port are basically the same as the PS2 Version. And anyway its nearly impossible to enjoy this game by playing with the keyboard, trust me !!! As far as the Vista compatibility goes... well I dunno because I dont trust "Vistas compatibility" so far :S

First download and install patch v2.0 from here: http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/mgs2pc/english/index.html Then you need an hex editor like frhed or whatever. http://www.kibria.de/frhed.html Find the files mgs2.exe and mgs2_sse.exe in the game's directory and make a backup copy of them in case you mess it up. Now open the file mgs2.exe with the hex editor and go to edit->find and use the word "geforce" as a search term.~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~Now the word "GeForce" should be highlighted and right next to it to the left side is the word "RADEON". These are the 2 entries you have to edit. You have to replace the "GeForce" with whatever you like as long as the letter count remains the same. I just overwrote it with "removed".
Then the word "RADEON" to the left, this you have to overwrite with "GeForc". Notice the capital "G" and "F" and also missing "e" at the end, it should look exactly like that. Now save and do the same steps with the mgs2_sse.exe file.

1) The proper working of the game depends only by you pc (Hardware ecc ecc). so if the game doesnt work let's say that it is you pc's fault and there's nothing you can do with it.
2) In order to play the game you have to choose the "FULL install" setting, otherwise the error "Failed access to file "G:\cdrom.img/stage/init/data.cnf"

3) I think that the videos and the game are not corrupted or badly rendered. they're just like the (strange effect though)
4) No cracks or any kind of patches (like the GForce or ATI graphic patches) are needed to make the game working properly.

5) Finally, it is well know that every PC has its problems, that's why there are lots of different bugs/errors. At least if you are in a desperate need for playing this game which I recommend (I started playing it today and I love it (everything is working fine)) try to format your hard drive, and don't install millions of usless softwares that just mess around with Windows and all the registry files.

Don't bother with a crack. Just download Daemon Tools. It's a virtual CD-Rom. With Daemon Tools running it tricks the computer into thinking that you have the CD in. And saves you from finding and downloading a crack everytime you download a new game.

heres what to do
first get the crack from here: http://m0005.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_metal_gear_solid_2.shtml#Metal%20Gear%20Solid%202%20v1.0%20[ENGLISH]%20No-DVD/Fixed%20EXE
and then get the crack called Metal Gear Solid 2 v1.01 [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE by ****sRus
use winrar to get the 2 files and replace mgs2_sse and mgs2 and make sure you put this in the correct file in program files (called bin)
this allows you to play without having to go through the trouble of finding the iso when mounting
THEN go to the options menu before starting up the game and go on the drawing tab and put the Model Quality level to the 2nd from the left and you can see your character! this solved my problems after a few hours of mucking about.
as a by the way i dont think the cracks work on vista so you will have to use daemon tools which should work but ive never really used

I just found out that the game sounds will not play properly if your vista has service pack 1 even using Universal Alchemy. My laptop installed the SP1 automatically and it messes up my games sound. I just uninstalled sp1 to fix the problem though.

You are probably pressing ENTER key which is "Back button".. Try looking at the key configuration if you are using a keyboard.. To access key config.. launch the game and click OPTIONS then click key config tab..

I don't know whether this stuff is important or not, but here's some of my system information:
Adapter Description: NVIDIA MCP67M
Adapter Type: GeForce 7150M/nForce 630M, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter RAM: 64.00 MB

Ok i figured this **** out by myself wihch was NOT hard haha some stupid mistake. Ok if you have a problem concerning the "Please insert Metal Gear Solid: substance" just get the NO DVD crack replace it with the ones that you downloaded before you installed MGS2. For the "Failed access to file "G:\cdrom.img/stage/init/data.cnf" just download Poweriso and you will notice that your MGS2 file will be a golden cd and specifys that it's now a poweriso file, double click it and you will see all the contents of the image file (power iso file) soooo you mount it with poweriso then it will be converted into a "Virtual drive" called "MGS2 "E"" once you see the pop up window go ahead and double click the explination point called "MGS2Setup" then click "Full install 7" or something like that and you should be good man.

If you got message G:\cdrom.img/stage/init/data.cnf, just open file sys.ini in BIN directory and in text editor delete all text and the save.

Well i installed the game all fine
But the cinematics in the beginning are good and all fine,
But when i start playing everything looks and sounds good a but it dosent
show the characters or the tankers only like a clear shadow
you look at it and its looks like its there but no image or colors
The background scenery is all good
but no colors and in codec i cant see no one just the blur
need help

I got a problem in the game... When i put the crack in the MGS2 files and I run the game, the graphic is very bad... then I downloaded that patch resolve this problem of the graphic, but when I install this patch, and I try to run the game, say to insert the disk 1, but I already put the crack...
It always happens when I turn off and turn on my computer...
Somebody have a solution for this?
PS: I know how to resolve this, but I need unistall the game and install again, and this run very well.

My problem is the daemon tools part. I cant seem to find the mgs.iso file...
It isnt iso, its exe... i searched the foldr its just not there.
My 6th sense gives me a feeling that im makin a super s2pid mistake, its u who should tell me where the mistake is...haha...

Okay im back haha... Gad dammit i wanna play metal gear...
Anyways, i clicked Virtual CD/DVD ROM and then mount the MGS2.ISO. Then right after, a box comes which is the autoplay of MGS, with 3 buttons i.e. RUN OPTION EXIT.
When i click run, AGAIN the same error comes as if ive been diggin nose for nothing.
Ah gosh, I finished MGS4 with BIGBOSS emblem in extreme. What i lack is MGS2!!!!!! And oh, if any of u want iso for metalgear 1, i have it, feel free to approach me: kamyar2005@hotmail.com

To ITGM:
Try using Daemon Tools to mount the ISO file instead of using the crack.
That's what I use and it works great.

iv just downloaded this, im on vista and apparently the cracks dont work so im using deamon tools
however when i try install it says insert CD thingy, and therefore i think i have to mount the image but i dont know where it is

Almost forgot to say thanks to all of the people that commented on the patches and fixes that were available as well!! It's a big help sometimes. I'll seed at least 10 gig's. I always try to at least do double the amount of the file. Only prob is I'm on and off all the time. This comp gets extremely hot rather quickly. Just to let you know, I took me 6 days to download. It would have been sooner, but I'm afraid to leave the comp on all night. The last time it over heated I had HDD failure. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I installed MGS 2 on my computer and did the 7GB installation so that I dont have to pop in the disc or mount any images but it still asks for the disc whenever I try to play. Help.

Guys I got it working for me in Windows & 32-bit, so am sure will be the same for Vista 32-bit.
1 - Install full game.
2 - Patch it with version 2.
3 - Get the Metal Gear Solid 2 v2.0 [MULTI5] No-DVD/GeForce/ATi Fixed EXE by MerolaC from gamecopyworld.
4 - The black screen is caused by some audio problem, so you need Creative ALchemy Universal 1.00.08. You can download the torrent from piratebay. No torrent in mininova sadly
5 - Install it and once its open click "Add" Enter the name, then below it gives 2 choices one by registry path and the other is by file path (game path). Click by file path (game path) and put in the path (i.e. C:/Program Files/Konami/MGS2/bin)
Well I have entered the main menu but am yet to start and finish the game, so don't know if I will have any problems ingame. Still in the middle of MGS1

Everybody who has sound problems its because of Vista, trust me. Max Payne had the same problems so I got a batch program to convert all the sound files so that vista could read them better. So Google it or something. If I find it I'll let y'all know.

I've installed it with ALchemy. It goes past black screen, but unfortunately this is it. Menu appears, but whatever you choose to open in it won't work - you go back to main menu.
I'm uninstalling Vista as soon as last project for uni is finished and delivered...

Do not download this if you are not a computer freak. Tried all freaking cracks and deamon tools also but the damn thing never worked. after installation keeps on asking for a disc. whay cant there just be a simple serial key. OK Lets just begin from the start plz..
Just help me out here and ill be glad !.
First:
I installed this torrent and unpacked the game.
I clicked on the setup and it installed the game.
An Icon appears on my desktop called: Metal Gear Solid 2.
I Click on this icon and a menu with: Run, Options and Exit appears.
When i press run it says: Please Insert Disc1.
When i click on: MSGSetup in the folder the same menu appears and it says the same.
I have tried to download all thoose patches but it dosent work. Or maybe im doing it wrong.
Ill ask for help here if someone could help me. It will be great !

download dmsynth.dll by searching for it on google then paste it into your bin folder to fix sound problems
I can vouch that this fixed my sound going nuts and inserting random sounds for things such as walking

Not working at all. I tried everything, re-downloaded, installed the patch 2.0, installed the No-DVD/FixedEXE/ATIPatch/GeForcePatch, used the compatibility mode, running from DVD and complete install.
Sorry people, but everyone who likes MGS2 please don't download this. The game shows a blank screen and uses 100% CPU time, and you cannot see nothing, even the "Konami" logo.
I don't know what the hell people have done to get this game working. Now I'm trying to download for the 3rd time, and my patience is going down.

Hello People i Have found an easy solution for the ''Insert disk 1'' thingy for Metal Gear Solid 2 when trying to run the game. just burn the iso onto a disk using img burn. then when thats done then insert the disk and run the game then it should work.

Guys problems with saving: i can start the first mission, it seems that it saves calling Otacon, but when i load that it's not saved and i have to start from the beginnig (like when you start playing after the intro). What can i do?

Then I edited my MGS2 game in Alchemy, (Settings) Buffer = 10, Duration = 50 and Maximum voice count = 128. Videos and phonecalls were normal after that. Now I have problem with actual gameplay, cuz its grey, map is normal but Snake and ship is totally grey!
If someone knows how to solve that problem, I'd like to hear it

#163 You need to sort that problem out, the life of your computer will be very short, mark my words. XD Are you sure your fan is working? How hot is it? Check your processor type and see what temperature it supports because you might find yourself waking up in a hospital with burns. =P Also, if it's not exactly the CPU, I'd reccomend installing (or gettin' someone to) a fancy fan either on the inside on the case, or an extracter fun. Either way, I do worry. ;]

I hope I don't run into a wall but I shouldn't by now. If anyone has any idea's as to how to increase/otimize the speed using UTorrent, then let us know, thanks, if not, it's cool.

I can't test it now because this damn Laptop I'm using doesn't like games that much, especially awesome Direct3D 9c graphics, assuming that's what it is. =P It's an OpenGL laptop really. Back at home though, is something nice waiting for me. XD

That dealt with it beautifully the last MGS2 torrent I attempted. Only reason I didn't keep it was because it was in a different language. >.> No I couldn't change it and the audio speech was foreign too. XD Grahics were totally crisp and not a single flame stutter in sight.
As for that guy who plays MGS in extreme mode... good man/woman, that's the best way! So much more realistic and fun. =P
