Excellent! The spelling errors (due to the software scanner) kinda bugged me as well as some pages being repeated in mid paragraph. Thanks for sharing!
3.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Feb 15 2007 at 20:03
In this versions there are spelling errors and repeated pages?
Or are you talking about in other torrents these errors occured, because i re-read these books and fixed all errors i could see, and i left no repeated pages. Although i do remember in other torrents this occurring, but in these copies none of those errors should be there.
4.Posted by KamelRed on Feb 15 2007 at 23:14
I was talking about the other torrents, not yours. As far as I can tell you did a good job fixing the problems.
5.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Feb 15 2007 at 23:28
OK thank you
Yeah I used multiple sources to fix the duplicated chaptes, pages and paragraphcs.
The sixth book is the only book that I own, i read the other five from my school library.
But these version I used from a couple of different online sources, which is why the content is close to the actual books(at least 99%, with some small grammar differences im sure).
But thanks again for the compliment

i can't open it. N when i download it, it becomes about 10kb.
do i have to use special software to open it? because i'm using a mac, n i think utorrent don't support in mac
can u help me? sending the pdf file to my email?
7.Posted by mack_jigger on Mar 13 2007 at 13:54
6 books in 8 megs? is that real?
8.Posted by slashtiq on Mar 13 2007 at 14:08
yup, its real
i've got the last book just for 1mb, but this one, i can't get it
9.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Mar 13 2007 at 20:18
Yeah this is real, it took me a while to make as well.
The reason why the books are a total of 8.21 megs is because i used adobe acrobat to convert to pdf.
The DOC files are actually bigger than the pdf's, they are 10.9 mb total.
The old pdf converter i used made the pdf's a little bigger than the doc files, so i guess adobe acrobat's converter is better, or more efficient.
slash i dont know what to tell you, are you saying you cannot download the actual torrent file, or when you download the file, you cannot open, or when you open it, the files dont download properly, which one is it?

@dkiraz and others.....is this the kids version or da adult 1????
plz do comment.......
11.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Mar 16 2007 at 17:25
adult versions, then again i have never seen the kids versions.
But 8.21mb download, not too much trouble to download and find out for yourself
12.Posted by bhupenpatel07 on Mar 20 2007 at 10:47
hey dkiraz......sry to say but its the kids version dude.......
but y dont u try to get the adult version and keep it 4 download......IF U DONT HAVE A PROBLEM IN DOING SO
13.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Mar 20 2007 at 19:24
It is the kids version? Wow i thought it was the adult version, remember i didnt use my own books and then retyped them... that would take days. I found like 3 or 4 sources of each book online and then edited that way. Then in certain circumstances i used the hardcover books if something was really wrong. It would take me to long to retype all the books.
BTW what is the difference between the kids version and the adults version, also are you sure all six books are kids version? Since i used multiple sources for each one, and not all six i used the same sources, it is possible that maybe 1 or 2 of the books are kids version.
14.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Mar 20 2007 at 21:05
Oh btw, i just posted on a harry potter forum to see if they knew what the differences between the children's and adult editions of the books. They said that the only difference is the cover art, and since i have no pictures in these copies of the books, it doesnt matter if the source material was from the children's or adult editions, since content wise, they are identical.
15.Posted by bhupenpatel07 on Mar 21 2007 at 04:39
ya dude theres not much difference between both the versions......
i really appreciate ur work.....especially the size(8.21mb) and the editing job was gr8.......thanxxx
17.Posted by CerebralMonkey on May 15 2007 at 13:48
These are definitely the best copies available. Are you going to do the same with the seventh?
18.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on May 15 2007 at 20:29
most likely, but how early i dont know. I wont be doing this during my first read through of the book, but most likely afterwards i will. So the answer, probably, but how long will it be until i do it, i have no idea.
19.Posted by madelynsprite on May 28 2007 at 08:12
i am just now downloading it. its seems to be creating errors every time i try though.. hmm. i will try using another torrent loader..
shheeeesh!
20.Posted by werd75na on Jul 16 2007 at 08:26
This is the US version, and not the UK version. Only the UK has an adult/kids version.
As for the difference between UK and US versions are very small. Mostly just some UK phrases that some people from the US might not understand.
A++ on the torrent quality and speed.
21.Posted by Ditharia on Jul 17 2007 at 20:24
AMAZING DL speed, Thanks Seeders, I'll sure return the favor! And excellent work chap, it looks amazing!
23.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 25 2007 at 16:23
just so everyone knows, i am currently re-editing this torrent.
I am changing the format, fixing some minor errors, and of course adding in book 7. I am in a dilemma because i am not sure if i am going to re read the first 6 books or not, but if i dont re read them i should have the new torrent up before sunday, otherwise it will take a bit longer. I am a fairly fast reader though, it took me 12 hours to finish DH.
24.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 28 2007 at 17:25
I really like your work. I can't stand the other fancy PDFs. Yours are so clear and can be easily read on my laptop. I'll wait for your release of DH. Good work man really. You got me addicted to HP
.
25.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 28 2007 at 17:29
Oups.. By the way, you should try to put a better title to your torrent so that we can find them. Instead of EXCELLENT QUALITY.. heh.. try something like:
Harry Potter - Books 1-7 all HQ - By dkiraz
Just an idea like that. Since I found it hard to find this torrent back and tell you how good it was in the first place. I spotted no error yet and it's just sooo good.
26.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 28 2007 at 18:17
thanks for the compliments.
Ill change the title to something like that.
I am changing the formats of all the torrents, but it is for the better. They will be a little easier to read. And there are some minor errors i have found. I think i am going to read most of them, but i am halfway done with the fourth book (i am reading out of order) and i do not plan on reading the fifth book again, that one is too brutal of a read for me right now. I am going to re-read the sixth, and 3rd book as well. And of course the seventh, since i havent done a re-read on that one yet, which means the electronic versions i have will have more errors. I would say by around friday or so i should have the torrent ready, if not, then by sunday of next week at the latest.
27.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 28 2007 at 18:57
By the way dkiraz, I released some Harry Potter Book cover icons for Vista. If you have Vista, you should get them. They're 256x256 and you can scale them really big in the explorer. It give a nice touch to your e-book gallery. You can find them there:
http://www.mininova.org/tor/812891
I don't think they'd work on XP... Anyway XP icons are too small to make book covers worthwhile.
28.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 28 2007 at 20:51
i have xp pro, so that wont work, but thanks for the offer.
Also just as a side note, i have converted the first couple of books into pdf's, after i reformatted and edited them, and they are actually even smaller than these files... just thought I'd let people know that.
29.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 28 2007 at 21:41
Ohh.. too bad for the icons.
That's great.. however the size was pretty small already. What kind of formatting are you doing? Are you actually changing the font? Because it was good already.. and the page size was perfect for fullscreen reading.
30.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 28 2007 at 22:56
Yes to everything.
The font is changing from Times New Roman, to Bookman Old Style. The format is changing from web style (which basically means no paragraph indention, everything is single spaced, and each paragraph is double spaced from one another) to normal style, with 1.5 line spacing, each paragraph is indented, and no double spacing between each paragraph (but each line is 1.5 anyways). I am also changing the Left and Right page margins from 1" to 1.25".
31.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 28 2007 at 22:56
You may be asking, why am i doing this? Well Times New Roman is getting VERY old to me, i am getting tired of reading this font. Bookman is more enjoyable to read. Also the web style format, coupled with the long number of pages made reading the books feel like a chore. Yes each book is significantly longer... the first book is now 269pgs instead of 206. The second is 295 instead of 224, and the 3rd is 380 instead of 289. But that doesnt mean much, since the content is the same (and they are still shorter than the actual hard copies of the books.)
But trust me, once you see them you will like them much better, the books will be much more enjoyable to read.
32.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 28 2007 at 22:59
actually i am changing the page margins back to 1" instead of 1.25, i just realized that 1" is better.
33.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 29 2007 at 02:09
Yeah.. smaller margin is better. It's easier to read in full screen mode. For the times new roman, it's a good idea. 1.5 line spacing is required too.. it will avoid reading the same line two times.. it happens to me too much. I'm a bit worried about the no double spacing between paragraphs tho. Even if it's indented, I always seemed to prefer a bit of spacing so that text can breath. However.. I guess I'll trust you on this one
. You still done a marvelous job the first time, I have no doubts it'll be awesome. Continue the good work man. I don't care about page numbers.. I just want it to be nice to read on my laptop
.
34.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 29 2007 at 02:12
Personnally I really like Lucida Sans.. but it's a personnal choice I guess
. Just wanted you to check it
35.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 02:35
Lucida Sans is nice, but i like bookman
The trouble with having an extra space between paragraphs is that there is already a 1.5 space, to have even more space between EACH paragraph would be excessive.
Indenting along with the 1.5 is plenty, it doesnt look crowded at all, but you will see in about a week
Again thanks for the compliments
36.Posted by CerebralMonkey on Jul 29 2007 at 06:58
I actually have your torrent page on here bookmarked to keep informed on progress. That said, I have no problem with the font you'll be using, nor the format.
I was thinking, perhaps book covers as first pages and the use of the font Ablefont could be useful to keep the feel of Harry Potter?
Ablefont, if you didn't know, is the typeface used on many pages, which is what the font Lumos is based on. There is also a font based on Hagrid's handwriting which may be useful if you go in that direction, wonderfully named "Hagrid."
I may own the books, but this will be an excellent collection to keep on my flash drive. Your efforts here won't go in vain.
37.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 08:23
I downloaded the fonts you suggested, but they were not clear, and difficult to read. It could have been my computer, or maybe you have to have vista, but they are not really useable.
If you know of another way to get those fonts to look the way they do in the books, i would give it a try (i would love to have the font from the books).
Thanks again for the input, and compliments.
38.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 08:29
Also, the reason why i havent really considered using the book covers is because i like to keep it simple. As you can see, the chapter titles, and book titles and everything are all consistent and to the point. Adding the book covers would make the files bigger (slightly bigger, but bigger nonetheless) and would be unnecessary. Although i understand your desire for the cover pages, it would feel more like harry potter with the cover pages in there... that said i might change my mind after i finish fixing all of the books.
39.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 08:29
Ill keep you posted on my progress. As of now i have finished the first two books, and added the chapters to the pdf's, and i am roughly 2/3 of the way through the 4th book. It also looks like i may have to re-read the fifth book. I am having very annoying problems changing the font format for the book, i think it has something to do with the way i did the original document, so now whenever i try to change the font style, it completely screws up the paragraphs and lines... very annoying and i am trying to figure out a way to fix it. If i cannot find an easy way to fix it, i will have to fix the document line by line! Which will take up time, and if that is the case i will not re-read the 3rd book.
40.Posted by CerebralMonkey on Jul 29 2007 at 10:29
Ablefont is actually used in all capital letters throughout the books, though looks horrible when lowercase is attempted. There is actually a torrent of the last book from DarkMiasma somewhere which uses the font well. The font for the main Harry Potter name logo is recreated in the font "Harry P", and all of which are easily found by searching for Harry Potter fonts on any search engine.
Hagrid's handwriting is meant to be a bit messy and scratchy, given his personality. I am not sure how well it could be used in ebooks, however.
I'm mainly paying so much attention to these ebook as I'm sure it'll become the definitive collection online, though the feeling of actually having a book in your hands is still worth the price tag.
41.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 18:39
I tried Harry P as well, and lumos and neither turned out well.
42.Posted by CerebralMonkey on Jul 29 2007 at 21:05
I was wrong about what release I was talking about. Here, take a look at this to see the use of Lumos or Ablefont:
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3750962/Harry_Potter_and_the_Deathly_Hallows_FORMATTED_Cvrs__amp__Pro.
43.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 29 2007 at 23:04
Hmmm, ill see what i can do about changing the chapter titles' font to ablefont... and i may just add the cover art and not add in the title and author on its own page.
This is not guaranteed, but i am considering it more and more lol.
44.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 30 2007 at 00:12
Hmm.. if I was you, I'd forget about cover art. Unless you want to scan them yourself, I found that none were available online that was big enough for a good 8.5x11 page. (For my cover icons for Vista). And you know.. you'll never check out the cover anyway. It'll make the e-book about 20% bigger for no good reasons at all. For the chapter fonts.. well.. probably useless but if you wanna do it.. it could be cool. What made you apart from DarkMiasma releases (Because yes I downloaded it and deleted it right away) is the fact that yours are readable on screen. I can't see how you could read a book with 10 words per lines with 50% of the page width used for margins. You can't even read in full screen. Anyway.. I don't wanna tell you what to do.. it's your release
.
I hope you get around your problems man.
45.Posted by BoomWav on Jul 30 2007 at 00:13
... People keep getting amazed at the size of your release too.. so I'd keep it as small as possible.
Load faster, download faster, read better.
What else would you want? heh.
46.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 30 2007 at 05:06
yeah i already decided after i posted, that i am not going to do cover art. And finding the photo with the right size is not an issue, i can resize images. To me it just seemed like a waste of a page, and added size. I know people want these to feel as close to reading the hardcover book as possible, but to me it just wastes time and space.
47.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 30 2007 at 05:07
And to be honest, the main reason why i started making my own electronic copies was soley to have a complete, clean and clear copy of each book that i can take with me wherever i go and not have to worry about carrying a bunch of big books. I didnt really want to add the flash and everything to them. The one thing i am doing is changing the font for the title and author at the start of the book. Ill use the ablefont for that, and make the font bigger (and all caps). But i wont change the font for each chapter. I didnt even change it for each chapter, and the first book added 250kb to the size. No need for that.
So i am getting close to finishing the fourth book (i dont have a bunch of time to read all day, so it is taking me longer), and i am not sure how long the rest will take me, but i still believe i will have the torrent ready by sunday.
48.Posted by CerebralMonkey on Jul 30 2007 at 06:19
If it adds that much to the file size for a single page, don't bother. Best of luck though. And yeah, I had done a search myself for good cover art, and there is none to be had other than low quality JPEGs, so resizing wouldn't be a good thing there. Best of luck with the fourth. I'm actually just starting to read that one, interestingly enough.
49.Posted by InfiniteSky on Jul 30 2007 at 21:33
If you want to know, the type-face for all the books is adobe garamond (at least that is what it says in the back of each of the US hardcover editions). The only difference in the type-faces is in HPatOotP, which has an 11.5 size and all the rest are size 12.
If you want to use that font, XP has a built-in font simply called garamond that works wondrously.
50.Posted by InfiniteSky on Jul 30 2007 at 23:43
The font of the chapter titles is ablefont as someone posted earlier. If you really wanted to flourish it, the first letter of every chapter is done in ablefont too.
You don't have to, but if you could stay true to the fonts in the books (at least in general, like garamond for text and ablefont for chapter titles) that would be much appreciated on my part. I know it is a lot to ask, and I do appreciate what you've done (having the digital copies is a real life-saver), I feel the copies would be that much better if you made this minor alteration.
51.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 30 2007 at 23:56
i have tried garamond, and it is not the same as adobe garamond... the garamond font does not look as good as bookman old style, nor as good as adobe garamond (which if you didnt know costs $24 just for the regular font, not including italics, which is an extra $24) so i will be sticking with bookman.
As for the chapter titles, i debated using ablefont, but i just didnt like it. The files became a little bigger, and it is just unnecessary to me. I did however use ablefont for the title and author at the start of the page (and made the fonts quite a bit bigger for that part) but that is it. I will be sticking with bookman for all of the content, except for the italic sections, which will be times new roman at 12.5 font size, this is simply to make it esaier to distinguish between italic and regular (which bookman does not do very well).
52.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 30 2007 at 23:58
Also i am pretty much finished with editing and formatting the first 4 books, i just have to convert them and add chapters to them, which i will do once i have completed all 7 books, just in case i find more things i missed before.
Also back to the chapter titles... the ablefont does not look good unless the font size is fairly large and i didnt want to do that since as i said before, it is pretty unnecessary.
53.Posted by InfiniteSky on Jul 31 2007 at 08:07
Torrents with Adobe Garamond (To help you, if lack of the font is what was hindering you form putting it in Adobe Garamond, then this will help. Otherwise, it's just nifty to have!)
From Demonoid:

I'd reccomend the two starred items first as they both list this item: "Adobe.Garamond.Pro.WinALL.Commercial.FONT-TYPO" Honestly, I can't see you complaining about prices of digital files in this day and age, especially on a torrent site!
If you can't tell, I'm REALLY hoping you'll put it out in Adobe Garamond.
54.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 31 2007 at 15:56
ok i am donwloading fonts... but dont get your hopes up, if i find that i still like bookman more i will use it, but if adobe garamond is better (which it should be) then i will make the switch.
Thanks for the links.
55.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Jul 31 2007 at 23:41
Well i have done some changes... i decided on using adobe garamond (thanks for the links infinite) at 12.5 font size. Also the chapter titles are different format now, using ablefont, but i have changed some things. Also it seems that it was my monitor that made the fonts look bad, i noticed this because on my laptop, the fonts, in microsoft word looks just fine. So when converted to pdf, the fonts will look fine for everyone.
I am thinking about taking the first couple of chapters from the firstt book and making a sample torrent using that, so people can get an idea of how the books will look.
I will post a link to the sample if i decide to do make one.
56.Posted by InfiniteSky on Aug 01 2007 at 02:47
No, thank-you for your excellent work for this torrent! A sample would be nice too!
57.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Aug 01 2007 at 03:28
i would love to post the sample, but for some reason, after attempting to post the sample torrent, i received a ban from uploading torrents.
It said i uploaded too many fake torrents or something like that.
I am on irc asking admins for help (and receiving none) i also posted on the forum.
Hopefully an admin helps me soon.
58.Posted by InfiniteSky on Aug 01 2007 at 05:28
Hey, could you do me a huge favor and include the Adobe Garamond font with the sample if you get it up? I can't get any of those torrents I listed to download on the machine I'm using (and limited to for the next few weeks).
59.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Aug 01 2007 at 05:56
no, but i can email the fonts to you.
Also as i said, i cannot upload torrents right now, for some dumb reason i am banned, but i have left emails, posted on the forum, and am on irc trying to get a hold of an admin to remove the ban... so who knows when i can upload the sample.
just leave the email and ill give you the fonts. (note. i will not do this for everyone, i am giving them to infinite because he asked first, and gave me the links to the fonts).
60.Posted by InfiniteSky on Aug 01 2007 at 06:05

You should be able to figure that out.... Honestly, the Adobe Garamond font is all I really want.

it seems as if i am trouble seeding, this is probably because i am on a different network right now, so there may be blocks preventing connections. In a couple of hours i will be back at my house, and i will be able to seed from my house.

ok i switched trackers, the new url for the sample is.

If another font is supposed to be showing in the sample, one isn't. Otherwise, good job with the formatting. I like it much better now.
67.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Aug 15 2007 at 03:41
I am just about finished. I finished reading and editing book 7, and i must say, both online versions i used as the base for the book contained far more errors than i expected. But i am done with it, i have converted all 7 books to pdf's, all that remains is adding chapters and creating the torrent. But i am going to give each book a very quick glance, just to make sure everything is as it should be. Afterall, this will be the last version of the books that i will make, and these will undoubtedly be the best online versions available... so it is prudent for me to give them one last look.
I should say that i am very busy, and adding chapters takes some small amount of time, so i might not post the torrent until some time tomorrow, but today is still a possibility.
68.Posted by dkiraz (torrent uploader) on Aug 15 2007 at 22:18
i have finished everything and posted the torrent... please go to this torrent and download if you want all seven books.
