N00bz. An trojan can be masked as an mp3, so when you go to open it it's actually a .exe, and bam...you now have a trojan. But you people have the windows way of thinking for security, so you prolly already have a dozen viruses

Also, they are tagged with APEv2 which confused me for a bit coz my id3 tagging didn't have any affect on them.

If you open it as an MP3, it won't execute, duh, so if it was a virus, then you'd have to chnage the files to an executable to get the virus.
