I had the same problem, donwloaded a beta version of the nvidia driver that has the "Bioshock compatiblity enhaced" (sounds fine isn´t it?) on it and be happy.
Great game, little crippy but it "quality" seems to be the nem trend in FPS =) Graphics are truelly fine, haven´t messed up with the conf. yet but it´s running fine on my pc:

This is the 2nd download I've tried from Skullptura and neither have worked. They don't even unrar, and yes I have the latest 3.7 version, and yes I know what I'm doing as I've done this loads before. Just get a file is unrecognised or damaged error. Any ideas as to why none of his stuff works for me? Running 64bit Vista Premium edition. P.S. will still seed even though p****d off!!!!

Can someone please upload the 1-medicalLevel.blk from the Bioshock\Content\BulkContent folder?
At extraction it says it's corrupt, and I'm left with only 40 mb instead of 200mb of that file.

I have the same problem as Newenglandpats, there was sound at the beginning cutscene but then it stopped. Also, when I'm inside the bathymarine or whatever its called, I'm watching a person about to be killed by a splicer but nothing happens. I waited for about 2 minutes and the NPCs don't move and do their part.

whatever people...skullptura always offers the best i have download crysis...fear...supcom....call of duty4 n many more but i never had any problem with skullptura's torrent.....I download from dis dude with closed eyes so if ur game isnt for some reason its because u did something wrong or u need to update ur video card driver/DX/Windows Hotfix or watever...im pretty sure there is nothing wrong with this torrent.... so once again update ur driver(s) for sure it will....btw skullptura thx for great torrent im going to download and as always i will be seeding it.......cheers mate

Ok, i take the bioshock file, extract to desktop, then go to setup.exe, i click on it and nothing happens. 10 mins later, it appears, when i click on "next" or select options in install wizard, it take about 10 mins to move to next option or page, plus the game wont properly intall.
could someone please give me a good way how to make this work, by the way ive also installed all the regestry stuff. Im running XP and the demo worked fine on my computer.

Ive treid downloading the latest drivers and when i do it though windows it says i have the latest drivers and when i download the program from nivida it says it cannot find any drivers that fit my hardware or something. Yo Skullptura! You the man! The download took almost 3 days but it was well worth the wait! No activation, no exe's to replace. Just merge the included registry file, run the game and enjoy! You'll need somewhat hefty hardware to enjoy the game at it's fullest though. My rig ran Doom 3 & S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl beautifully but I had to lower my graphics settings for this one. My rig: Hyperthreaded P4, nVidia 6600GT, 2GB DDR2, 320GB on RAID-0, W2K3 Server. Again, thanks Skullptura! I'm looking forward to downloading F.E.A.R. from you next!

People, if the game crashes at the beginning, after the first animation video....
1. It can be your graphic card drivers, so upload the latest version!
2. More importantly - Game has certain problems with Vista and DirectX 10! (although not for everyone)
So... If you have problem:
Either try to lower graphics and resolution in the game. If that doesnt work:
Right click on the Bioshock.exe, Properties. In the Target Box add "-dx9" with one space before it and without quotes. (add it to what is already there - after the original text, and after the original quotes)
You can also run it as Administrator.
There shouldnt be any problems anymore, since you are running it with DirectX 9 now!
I run it on medium graphics... Played on High, but loads bit longer and to be honest, there is no much difference on high widescreen resolutions! Game looks amazing either way!!!

So the game is great and thanks for uploading it but i ran into a problem. When i get to the end of the Arcadia and hit the lever to go to the follicing place the game starts to load then shuts down and says its not responding anymore. Im running Vistia with 8700 NVIDEA (newest drivers) and i have the game on Medium resolution with a lowered resolution. Any help would be appreciated.

hey i fixed the problem, with those with the same problem as mine its just bout updating ur extracting program, i thought mine was fine but it didnt extract all the files, just some of them, which made my game not work, but i updated my winrar and now its working perfectly, very gud download and nice seeding

I downloaded and unrared this game, no problems.
I have the latest drivers for EVERYTHING in my system, Vid cards, Raid, you name it.
Anyway, I did what was said in the .txt file (unrar, install Direct X and C++ etc.) but when I ran the game executable (ie, Bioshock.exe nothing happened. Can somebody PLEASE help me?

U can see if its running by clickin' processes
in task manager(Ctrl+Alt+Delete)If you see

i have a problem...
the game works kinda.
after the opening cinematics, the plane crashes and after that i have no sound. i played till the bathysphere thing, got in, it took me down to the city and when it stopped the door wouldnt open and theres there 2 guys on the ramp in front of me, but the door wont open and im stuck inside the bathysphere thing. and theres no sound.

I'm having problems too, when i open Bioshock.exe the Bioshock logo appears for a few seconds, then a "Bioshock.exe has stopped running" error comes up. I installed the Visual C thing and DirectX 9 and ran the darkcoder.reg but it still doesn't work.
I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit (which is usually the cause of most of my problems

...and you had to turn the graphics down?? Im running an Athlon 64 XP 3400+ 3.2Ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM, Radeon X1950 512MB Pro (all of which cost me around £350) and Im running BioShock at top spec with absolutely no skipping whatsoever, frame rate of around 35-40 frames per second!
I don't know why your machine is running so slow but I think it may be down to poor knowledge on how to get the most out of your machine...
I purchased this game a while back now and I can say that yeah, whilst its a good game and it looks nice etc etc, it just doesn't compare to the hype its been given over the past year or so.
Anyway, kudos to the uploader, keep up the good work and keep the scene alive. Yadda yadda blah blah...

Your game appears to be working fine apart from the sound... The bit where there are 2 people in front of you on the ramp is what is supposed to happen. You see one figure kill the other then it jumps on top of the shuttle you are in, it tries to get into the shuttle to kill you but then disappears.
The problem you are having with sound may be caused by the hardware or software setup of your machine. Have you tried changing audio options in the games Pause menu?? If this does not work then try downloading new sound card drivers to rectify the problem.

I had the game start to load not showing the bioshock logo at all then quit. I watched it from the task manager. All it did was ramp up the CPU usage and then disappeared.
So Anyone have problems loading this can try a new executable from www.megagames.org. Just got to pc game fixes and find bioshock.
Anyone asking about version 1.1 can also find a crack for that as well.
I tried the top one from that site and the game loaded fine, I loaded the first level but didn't actually play much of the game.
So, its not always a driver problem when it works for others.

This torrent is much smaller because it's a PC-rip. It does not include other languages, only English.
The game is working, 100%. Before saying it doesn't work, make sure you follow the instructions correctly. If it still doesn't work, then it's either you, or the download was corrupted.

FOR THOSE CONFUSED!
1: There is no need to install anything apart from what the readme tells you.
2: So no image files need to be mounted, and no Setup.
3: If you've done all in the readme, and nothing happens when you click the Bioshock exe, go to http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/bioshock.shtml
and download the fixed exe (1.0) and use instead of the one in Builds/Release. It worked for me.
4:If you are getting no sound after the intro, right click on exe and on shortcuts tab click advanced and then check the 'run with different credentials' box. On startup, select whichever user is administrator and (for some reason I don't understand) the sound will work ok. You may alos need to keep Environmenal Audio in the games audio options unchecked.

Great upload! And it does work 100% for me, although I have to admit I am always kinda weary when it comes to changing registry files.
To the people who cannot get it to work make sure you:
1) Meet the system requirements
2) You're drivers are up-to-date
3) You downloaded the torrent completely (I know it isnt cool but sometimes you actually have to redownload the torrent)
4) Go back to XP if you can, Vista isn't exactly the best when it comes to gaming, especially if you are running on nVidia
And people, please seed until you have above a 1.0 ratio, therefore others can get the game. DON'T BE GREEDY!

I have yet to see a problem with everyone else cuz' I installed the game in a matter of minutes. I can play the game on medium settings with little skippage and look at my specs (low grade): AMD 64 Dual Core Athlon X2 1.9 Ghz, NVidia GeForce 7000M 64 mb gc, windows vista home edition x32, 1gb of RAM DDR2 . Maybe it's something wrong with your drivers cuz' I upgrade mine to play FEARM, DOOM 3, and Crysis and they all work fine at medium so you also want to try to tune the specs down some too.

Guys if u are having the problem after the first movie at the it crashes...try this
In the Target Box add "-dx9" with one space before it and without quotes.
The shortcut in the folder, not the .exe the shortcut for it, in the target do this, "C:\Program Files\Bioshock\Builds\Release\Bioshock.exe" -dx9
and make sure you tick a box saying "Run this Program as a admin"

i downloaded this game about 3 months back but started playing it only now.
i got it setup properly(the instructions work just fine)and was playing it.in the starting level after you get the electro bolt plasmid and get to the top floor through the lift and atlas begs you to save his wife and child,there is a woman singing lullabies to a revolver in a stroller.after killing her and taking the revolver atlas starts saying that plasmids changed their bodies and best friends began butchering each other.at this point the game crashes every time i load it.does anyone have a solution to this?other than that the graphics are beautiful and i get 30-50 fps on my config.

Right click on bioshock.exe go to properties compatibility and run in winxp SP2 compatibility mode, do not enable anything else but that and you will now have sound, as far as grafical issues get the latest drivers for your vid card, if thats not it your computer just sux, sorry.

ALL OF U WHO HAVE NO SOUND TRY TO RUN dxdiag AND CHANGE THE SOUND ACCELERATION TO MAXIMUM. I HAVENT TRIED IT BUT MAYBE IT WORKS....

I have a problem, when I have installed the game, it wants to download the latest patch and then I have to insert the cd and if I don't the installation stops, how can i fix this?

I had Securom problems when trying to start the game, so I grabbed the fixed Bioshock.exe from here...

I also ended (in Task Manager) the processes related to Alcohol and Securom - StarWindService.exe and UAService7.exe, respectively.
...and the game worked.

I have found the solution to the sound problem if you have vista follow these steps
1. control panel
2. sounds
3. recording tab
4. right click and hit display disabled device
5. enable stereo mix
By doing that it fixed my bioshock sound issue and my cod4 multiplayer issue
Hope this works for everyone
