Do you have to have reason 3 to install? Cause it installs real quick and then it doesn't work. Doesn't install right on windows xp. Doesn't even ask for a serial. Something wrong. I burned with nero and even used daemon tools.

ok, I have downloaded this program and mounted the disk image using daemon tools and magic iso. I have also burned this program to a dvd using a 4x write speed. When I finish the installation it tells me to insert the reason DVD. Why won't it read the DVD? Can anyone offer some advice on this matter?

I am having the same problem. You start the software and get "Please insert the Reason 4 DVD". When I mount the Reason 4 DVD ISO using daemontools in background although I can see the drive it doesn't resolve the message. From experience with Reason 3 you have to label the CD with the correct name for the program to recognise the disk. Does anyone know what this is in Reason 4.0?

OK LISTEN UP PEOPLE BEING ASKED TO INSERT DVD.
This is what you do:
1. Download the program "Alcohol 120%" from http://www.free-downloads.net/downloads/Alcohol_120_/
2. Install this program once downloaded (you must make sure to check the box that says about loading virtual drives on first boot, at the end of installation)
3. Run the program
4. Drag the file "Reason 4.iso" (what you extracted) into the main window of the program
5. Look at the pane below, where it says "Device" and right-click on the item directly below "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM
6. From the drop-down list select "Un-mount image"
7. Now right-click on the same thing to get up the same drop-down menu. This time click "Mount image..."

thexela - Thank you for the detailed instructions. I have now successfully installed the Program and it no longer asks for the Reason 4 DVD.
The problem as I suspected was with the Label of the DVD. When it appears in Windows explorer once mounted it must read "Reason 4". This means that when you create your ISO label it accordingly.

Let the software finish to install it is actually still installing as it shows also the progress bar in that windows saying @Please register@
After that just run the key generator and you will be fine.

Hi!
I downloaded the REASON 4 with this FILES:
-Aurorun
-Install reason.exe
-read me
-Reason4DVD.ico
-Sound Banks
-Acrobat Reader
-Other Propellerhead Products
I created an image of all this Files with Alcohol 120%. The Alcohol created an .mdf image. I supose that .mdf is the same than .iso and I followed the intructions by "thexela" but the problem continues: I am asked for the REASON 4 DVD.
What's my mistake?

The mistake was that I didn't LABELED the DVD when I burnt it.
You have to label it as "Reason 4".
then "install reason.exe" and everything worked perfectly.

Install instructions for OSX:
Don't mount the ISO in OSX. Burn it on a DVD instead. Drag the reason folder into the applications alias in the installer window, it will copy some files. Then run Reason.app and it will copy the soundbanks instead of asking for the DVD. Then, of course, fill in your license information and you're good to go

PLEASE HELP WITH INSTALLATION.
I have followed the instructions provided by 'thexela' above:
1. Extracted the iso and keygen.
2. Mounted the iso using UltraISO and installed Reason 4.
When I execute the program I am confronted with an "Please insert Reason 4 DVD, Waiting for disk....".
I have tried unmounting and remounting the iso while this message is displayed to no avail. I have also burnt the iso to dvd and tried inserting it while the above message is displayed, but I still cannot get past this message.
PLEASE HELP! I have been using Reason 3 and desparately want to check the latest version!

use unrar to extract file
download toast 7 titanium and use to mount disc (even though you can just click the iso file, still use toast!) - it may look like it worked however some people have issues with v7.0....
UPGRADE from the roxio website to 7.1

I can't install Reason 4 on Mac. It asks me to insert DVD. I have tried to burn DVD in Toast, not image - real DVD. I've moved a folder with Reason to Applications, then run Reason App. The window appears and ask me insert DVD. When I insert DVD - Reason isn't responding....

IT WORKED FINALLY!
Simple.
1.Open image with whatever program and look for the name of the virtual DVD. The actual name that will appear when mounted. And change it to:
REASON 4
WITH the space between the word and the number. Then save the image again and mount it with whatever program (I used daemon-tools).
NOTE: Take notice that whoever upped this put the name REASON4 without the space and so the installation program looks for this exact phrase (REASON 4) and if it can't find it, it will ask for the DVD.

i followed thexela instructions, but on the drop down menu under dvd.... look for load option, i clicked on the load option after i mounted it using the Alcohol as thexela suggested, hopefully this should work 4 you.

I am having the same problem as number 56 (tiquititacata) above. After successfully transferring the files (on a MAC) to my applications folder (using Toast! Good call, and thanks for the advice) and running the program, I cannot get the registration window to accept ANY of the serial numbers. I have also run the PC Keygen on Virtual PC, and it will not accept any of those either, and the window will NOT accept any "paste", so II can't cut and paste! Regardless, I've tried several times to type in the serial number and I doubt I could have made THAT many mistakes; has any one else had the same problem and found a solution? Thanks for the help!

You guys don't need to burn the image to DVD. You guys need "MagicDisc". Google it. Type in MagicDisc Virtual drive. Also study on how to use it if you don't know how to. You need to mount the image to the virtual drive & make sure before you mount it. The file is titled nothing else other than "Reason 4". If not it won't work. Hit me back for any other questions.

..I figured out the problem. If your computer tower does not have a DVD DRIVE then the softwares you use will mount as a virtual CD-R drive...which will cause the installation to install fast and bring a send error report window. In other words...YOU NEED TO HAVE A DVD DRIVE(NOT BURNING IT TO DVD)IN ORDER TO MOUNT IT AS A DVD DEVICE.

Need to free programs.....WINRAR and PowerISO....both on CNET.com

1st- DOWNLOAD the TORRENT...you get a folder with the files listed in my previous comment....#68. It took me about a week or more to download this.
2nd- Download the two mentioned programs....and run them, keep them running if you wish..
3rd- Goto original downloaded folder (....propellerheads reason 4 hybrid...) and open it. R-click on air-reason4.rar select "extract here"....it should create a new icon labeled "REASON 4.iso". Wait a while while it extracts (took mine 20 min.)(the REASON 4.iso is in this .rar file)

4th- When done.... open the extracted ISO file REASON 4.iso in PowerISO...
1. with Power ISO open...goto file menu and select OPEN....then browse for REASON 4.iso.
2.once open you should see all the important extracted files...like the SOUNDBANKS, the EXE. files and so forth.
3. then - select all - and choose MOUNT from the toolbar...
4. you will see"MOUNT IMAGE TO DRIVE [D:].....(mine said [D:], yours may differ)...select your virtual drive.

Completely stumped with this. Read through all comments but can't seem to get the hang of this.
I'm on Mac OS X Leopard. I have the full download and Toast Titanium. Have tried options to 'mount image' and have tried burning the files onto a DVD.
I have the 40 'air-reason4.r00' etc files plus the other files like the two rar files and the ISO disk image. When I double click the ISO file it tells me that it failed to mount because it is not recognised.
I thought I got somewhere when I pressed some buttons in Toast and it gave me a list of files and folders which contained the .exe (presumably installation) file. Obviously this didn't work because I am on a mac. There is no sign of any .dmg or .app files.
Someone please help!!!

Finally able to unrar it after redownloading the pieces giving errors multiple times. Working now.
For Mac Users: (I'm running a G5 PPC OSX 10.5.4)
1. Unrar with unrarx (http://www.unrarx.com/)
2. Burn the ISO with Toast (Toast 9...Copy->Image File then drag the ISO onto Toast)
3. Drag Reason to your apps folder
4. Open it up and enter a serial and your golden
enjoy.

alright guys this is very simple its stupid lol ... I had no clue what I was doing and these comments helped me out tremendously I had 0 problems installing First off im using a pc running windows XP so thats all I can Speak Of.
First Step Scroll Up to #26 and follow that step by step (YOU DONT NEED TO BURN ANYTHING) unless of course you want your own personal back up.
Step 2. Begin Installation
Step 3. Scroll up to #69 and play iny miny miny mo with any of those for your serial and youll be up and running in no time ... Seriously if you put too much thought into it youll get lost lol
oh yea and youll need to have a rars decoder to open the download which of course you can get from their website.

thiss download works fine but i wouldnt bother using it on a powerpc mac, i found out the hard way. its really slow and frustrating, not matter what spec the machine is.

comment 47 is the easiest one
1) just extract the first folder the rest are done automatically
2) then use that extracted iso with poweriso (aint got it download it duuurrrrr) if you dont understand that go to open on poweriso and select the reason 4 iso.
4) then u will see all the normal files like the exe and keygen and stuff.
5)run the install file. then when you get to the insert disc stage burn the files that you opened with poweriso with power iso. THEN YOU WILL HAVE THE REQUIRED REASON DISC.
6. RUNKEYGEN EXE AND IT WILL MAKE A KEYGEN FOR YOU (THIS WILL NEED TO BE UNRAR'D FROM THE ORIGINAL DOWNLOAD FILE)
THIS WAS THE FIRST SOFTWARE IV DONE NOW IM SET FOR MORE

At first i encountered many problems, yet they were EASILY fixable. First off, if you had to burn a DVD to not get the "please insert CD" message, than this may happen to you. When you try to open reason it says "The reason or orkster sound bank is locked". That means that you are trying to open reason from the DVD you burned, instead of the reason already on your computer. The DVD is there for the sole reason that you dont get the "Please insert disk" message, do NOT try to open it from the DVD. Another problem one may encounter is that you get a message saying, "Orkster sound bank could not be copied because there is not enough room on the hard drive". Reason installs as a separate hard drive with limited space. If you want to get enough space, copy and paste all of the reason folders (i.e. Reason, Sound Banks, Other Propellerhead Projects folders) into your Macintosh HD hardrive. It will then work. Hope that I was able to help

For those running on the Mac OS, specifically Leopard. I followed post 54's step by step and it worked perfectly.
Make a note if you want to run this, grab Roxio Toast, if you already have it, great! You'll need it.
Then just follow post 54. It's so simple and in no time at all you'll be good to go! No DVD burning necessary.

@102 I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING YOU JUST MENTIONED. I AM ON A MAC. IV PAST THE "PLEASE INSERT CD" STAGE. WHILE REASON IS GETTING SET UP, ABOUT 75% THROUGH IT STOPS AND SAYS "Failed to copy factory sound bank to hard drive" IV MOVED THE REASON FOLDER (I.E. I got it to work on Mac. Used toast to mount the Reason ISO Dmg file.
Opened the New Icon
Copied all of the files to my Apps folder. Then I just opened
opened my Apps folder, found Reason, and opened from there.
When I tried to Open Reason from the Desktop, I had difficulties.
Fill the license form, Works fine

Hey all!
So I slightly technologically declined and have been trying to install Reason for two days now. I have unzipped the files, etc. and got the 'insert disk' message and have installed Toast. I read through the other comments and noticed that I must upload 'an image' in the Utilities section? What 'image' is this? And how come I can't find a Reason .dmg in my files?

So I re-tryed the steps mounted it and it worked

Can't get Reason 4 to work. When I try to run the installation, I mount the disk using toast, but it still says "insert dvd". Can anybody help me?

Wont let me install this!! It installs about 133mg Then when i click on reason exe. It comes up with a windows fault screen sayin the exe has encounted a problem!! I have a dvd drive and all spec that is needed.
Does any1 no how to resolve this also usin demon tools and off disk same issues

after download is complete extract the reason image.. then i mounted the image using toast titanuim 9.. then start installation by dragging the reason folder into the applications right. when that is done however do not open the reason folder that comes up. instead open another finder window search reason 4 and open the application there.. dont know why but it works. if you dont do this it will say reason app folder or orkester cant be copied becoz they r locked even thoe they are not.. people getting the insert dvd window its because you have not mounted completely.. You need to open toast go on the option to copy, click image file on the left, click select, choose the reason iso then mount.. this should work good luck.. you will need it

i've been going around alot of forum and a lot of pple have been asking for the registration code so they can get free refill from propellerhead cuz using the same thing get boring so if anyone can help it would be much apperciated

Ok i want everyone to pay attention because who ever put this in a file may have purposely not have added some direct instructions which made many people go psychotic, but i have figured something out well for vista users not sure about mac's, but they can try this.
Before you mount any image there is one crucial step some people missed and that is fully extracting the file. For me winace freezes when the file is being extracted which gives us an non extracted file and then an iso images is given. That image is only partially completed because it is missing informatiom, hence the add dvd prompt.
Here is what to do use a program called 7zip:
then extract using 7zip wait until everything is finish(again it must be fully completed)
and bang you have a full iso, mount the image , run, and you should pass that install dvd prompt

Once again the main reason the file is showing add a dvd is because the rar files were not fully extracted by winace (if that is what you all are using)
Like i suggested use a program called 7zip and it should fully extract the rar files and give you a fully completed image that should be mounted, run the setup, and tadaaaa magic

Ok.... I've been trying for AGES to get Reason downloaded on XP and NOTHING seems to work. I'm still getting the "Insert DVD" window when I try to open it. I tried extracting the files using 7zip.. and nothing.
I tried mounting the iso file with Daemon Tools and Alcohol and both do the same thing: When I mount the iso file it pops with a window that is called REASON 4 (F and it has the following options: copy pictures to a folder..., view a slide show of images..., print the pictures..., play video..., open window to view files..., and of course, take no action.
No autorun option to install anything whatsoever when I mount the iso file (unless one of these options allows me to do that and I have no idea what it is)
I've been ripping my hair out trying to get this stupid thing downloaded. what the hell am I doing wrong?

I'm having a problem that one else seems to have 
Iv downloaded alcohol120 and extracted reason.rar to get the reason.iso and when i go to drag and drop the file reason.iso to the main screen opened up in alcohol120 it starts extracting again as im trying to copy it to alcohol120 but oncce its finished extracting nothing happens!!! the file doesnt appear on the alcohol120 main screen, so i can't mount it or do anything
Is there something i am doing wrong? please help!!! I'LL LOVE YOU LONG TIME!!! (i'm a bit of a noob but understand all the directions so far)

I perfectly installed it and it's pretty easy ! Simply burn your .iso file with Alcohol 120% !
- Download and install Alcohol 120%
- Run Alcohol 120%
- Drag your Reason 4.iso in the Alcohol's main box
- Click on the Burning assistant, wich is in the left pane
- Browse and select your Reason 4.iso and burn it on a DVD
- Run your DVD and follow the installation instructions
- Don't forget to run the KEYGEN.EXE, wich is in air-reason4kgn.rar (You have to extract it), you'll need the serial number during the installation process.
-That's it !
It should work!

If you want this for mac and dont already have toast, just find it on mininova like i did [z code tempest version] and install it as one of the other ones didnt work with the serial
Mount in toast and enter serial RSN400-0000-196222-B8RJ-F24C-ATMX
Done.

I have just loaded Reason 4 and it works.all you do is make a dvd called Reason 4 in the burn folder on the mac copying the files Sound banks,other propellerhead products and the read me file rtfd,then you load the reason 4 installer into the applications folder,click on it when the instaler asks for the disk you can run the dvd ,and it should the load you will need a serial number.
on the pc I Right clicked on the download and sent the file to the D;drive and off it went.hope this helps.
