Description:
Doc and Lena Selyanina
Neptune
Musictrade single release
Duration 17:02
Released on 2007-10-05
24bit/88.2khz FLAC encoding - audiophile edition
This space ambient track by Doc and Lena Selyanina was their special contribution to the "Great Space Project" on the popular Finnish mp3 website mikseri.net. In this project each participating artist was to create a song about one of the planets in the Solar System.
The starting point for the track was Lena's impressionistic piano improvisation moving around in G# Minor, "the bluest of musical modes", as Lena puts it. The piano then gets surrounded by a mysterious and meditative ambient soundworld. The entire 17 minute song can be interpreted as a long, symbolic probe-like dive through the blue, dreamlike gas layers of Neptune to ever deeper and darker realms, all the way down to the solid rock and metal core of the planet, and from there back to the starlight.
