Description:
Zero State are a 3 piece Alternative Rock Band from Manchester, U.K. They formed with their current line-up in early 2010 and quickly set about recording an 8 track debut album - "The Year Of The Snake". Released online, the album helped the band build their fan base and gain some recognition, via local and online radio play.
Zero State spent the rest of 2010 and early 2011 playing live around the U.K, whilst writing new material for what would be a full length, self-produced album called "Lessons For The Lost". In mid-2011 the band shut themselves away to make the album, which would be entirely self-produced in a basement studio by members of the band. During this time the band attempted to redefine their sound and forge some kind of musical identity.
Zero State are heavily influenced by the rock bands of the 90's. They aim to bring the raw and emotional sound of bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M and early Radiohead to an audience that has fallen out of love with guitar music, after a decade of cookie cutter indie bands that spawned the term "landfill indie". "Lessons For The Lost" is their attempt at this, an album infused with that spirit of the nineties, but filtered through the modern lens of post-recession Britain, and a generation that is likely to die poorer than it's parents for the first time since the 2nd World War.
