Description:

After releasing seven albums in 2005, ColdmaN5 turned their attention to 2006 with "Share Moments, Share Bookmobile", their first of six releases that year. While the band's trademarked lackadaisical approach to music is still front and center (terrible vocals over good music thanks to the exclusive use of pre-made and readily available music loops), "Share Moments" would still foreshadow the sound of future CDs, which went from chaotic music with the sole intent to annoy, to one that was more "polished", "straightforward", and "listenable".

First things first, let's be honest here: There are some complete turds on this CD. In fact, there's more than one. The band has always been known for their rushed, unplanned productions and their propensity to throw in songs that they know are terrible simply to extend the length of a CD, and "Share Moments" is no different.

But what is also evident is the band's disregard for...well...anything. There is an almost endless supply of creativity on display here, as the duo reaches out to cover almost every musical genre. "These Tears Weren't Made for Crying" hints at the more polished sound the band would strive for in later years, but the lyrics take what is almost a straightforward love song on a predictable, and almost funny, twist. "Daaah!" is a song that defies easy categorization (is it pop?), but that somehow manages to be both listenable and catchy. "Slow Motion Ocean Broken" turns the easy listening CD on its ears, as a tranquil beachside setting becomes the site of a D-Day-style beach invasion.

If you're looking for the next "big thing", stay far, far away. But if you're looking for something that exists in the dark, dank basement of the musical underground...well, you'll also be disappointed. But if you're looking for a CD that will have you crying on the floor with laughter...you'll be disappointed again. But if you're looking for a CD that's vastly disappointing, you're getting warmer!
