Was Ende der 60er Jahre mit "Night of the Living Dead" begonnen hatte wurde gut zehn Jahre später mit "Dawn of the Dead" fortgesetzt. Nach dem riesengroßen Erfolg von "Dawn of the Dead", wandelten die Zombies schließlich mitte der achtziger Jahre in Fort Myers in Florida umher und belagerten eine unterirdische Militäranlage (Day of the Dead)
