Description:
Raw recordings from rehearsal and pre-production demos for the debut Veil of Thorns album that was originally to be released through Misanthropy Records. The label went out of existence just as we were set to record. These recordings are different from the ones that made their way to the Cafe Flesh album, and some have not been heard, except played live at concerts.
Most of these tracks were recorded live in a single take in most cases, using two mikes, placed at either end of a 30'x30' rehearsal room in Boston. The analog recording was extremely hot, so little compression or noise reduction was done. Not the slickest of production jobs, to be sure, but they have an energy to them that makes me want to gather a power trio and go out an terrorize the land.
I've digitized three live performances of three lineups of VOT from the early days in Boston, when the number of Goth bands in town could be counted on one hand. Coming soon, the revamp of sites, news on projects, and art, yes and more music and, well, I'll be back with all that.
