Description:

Brion Gysin Sends His Regards by E_B_A

Released at the start of 2007, this is an intensely personal album for me. Quite possibly my most personal and certainly some of my best work ever.

The concept of the entire project is to convey emotion, scoring scenes and moments we all experience. Each track represents feelings I've had and conjurs memories of real places and things. Some of the things are more ethereal but several such as Magnolia Cemetery, are quite real places (you can find this place in Augusta, Georgia, on the corner of 4th Street and Laney Walker Boulevard).

The title of the album is an homage to Brion Gysin, painter and artist who, with William S. Burroughs, forged a new idea of editing and sound manipulation including sampling. The fact that most artists who sample or use loops don't know who he is, well, that's something I hoped to remedy in the process.

Some interesting tidbits:
"Music to Overthrow the Government By" was inspired by watching "V for Vendetta" which prompted me to immediately go upstairs and put the song together.

"It Was a Foul Day, Indeed" and "Perhaps Tomorrow will be Better" were inspired but feelings I had for a close friend. We've since mended our problems.

"Digital Angels Crack the Sky" samples heavily from a rare song by a little-known Christian recording artist named Chuck Girard.

"At the Helm of War Machines" is based on a drum pattern by Colorblind, Vxid's first band I used to write songs for.
