Description:
Red Riot is a Thrash Metal band with heavy Punk & Heavy Metal influence from Bangkok, Thailand. The band was former called ??? in 2009. ??? was planned to be a crossover band which covered political crossover and thrash metal songs from the bands such as Stormtroopers of Death, Sacred Reich, Destruction etc. After the band first show in Bangkok Thrash 2009: Thrash 'Til Drunk, the band realize that no one, even the band members, pronounce the bands name the same way. Furthermore, ??? cannot be used in file name which created a problem when the band participated in Bangkok Thrash 2009: Live 'Til Drunk.
Finally, the band changed its name to Red Riot and started to play its own materials which are a mixture of Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Hardcore Punk, Politics, Science Fiction, B Grade Cult Horror Comedy Film. The band planned to play as raw as possible, so every time the band play the band focuses on the "?????ness" of the performance than the precision of the notes played. Please expect what ordinary listeners call "the wrong notes" and think about it as a kind of improvisation.
Currently, the band is a part of Bangkok Thrash, a thrash metal network in Thailand, and participated in the compilation Bangkok Thrash Compilation Vol. 2 (2010) which is freely downloadable at http://www.mininova.org/tor/3193893.
This demo is a later release, but an earlier recording. The story of the back cover are as follows
"The day 19th of May of the year 2010 might mean different things to different people in Thailand. For some it is the day to celebrate since the lengthy demonstration that cause discomfort in the city life had ended. For others, it is another day that Thai government committed another Massacre of its own citizen, etc. For us it is the day this Demo was recorded. It was recorded few hours before the government announced the curfew on that day. We recorded the songs with the image of burning Bangkok on our minds. That’s how this demo, especially the last track, came into being. It might be read as our sonic interpretation of the obscure situation that day due to the government censorship of the news from the frontline, lots of journalist had been shot during the period.
This demo is dedicated to every innocents die during the event of 19th May 2010 in Bangkok. If we cannot say that no one is really innocent, this demo is dedicated to everyone who stand up and fight for their rights and freedoms who died and were damaged that day."
The tracks in the demo are
01 Thrash For Freedom
02 The Lies
03 Fascists From Mars
04 Ace Of Spades (Motorhead Cover)
05 Bangkok City Is Burning (A Grind Jam)
